This seafood is the best sea food I will probably ever have. But the normal food is amazing too, the burgers, salads, sandwiches are all great. The drinks are a big part as well they have the fastest and BEST bartenders too so YOU can get the best drink. The staff is always delightful and the view is BEAUTIFUL especially during sunset.

We sat outside over looking the water. Ariana was attentive and accommodating, such great service. My lunch was so delicious, I had the baby spinach salad with goat cheese and the avacado toast (crab meat on the side). Overall it was such a great experience for our first visit. We plan to be back soon.

wow pretty mixed reviews here...we thought it was great, got there early for lunch so had a nice view although all views looked pretty nice with the windows open, service was great as was the food, i had the swordfish and wife has a caesar with lobster salad, both excellent, we had their house cocktails, both interesting and good, lovely place, great food and service.....we liked it!!!

While reservations here should be made at least a week in advance (for a weekend night), it is worth the effort! The staff and the food were top notch! Everything we tasted from the calamari to the salmon & scallops to the gelato were superb! The atmosphere was relaxed and unhurried which allowed us to enjoy our meal. To top off a perfect evening, we sat by one of the many windows and watched the sunset.

To start with the venue is ideal... Great view of the Bay and surrounding area... The wait staff and particularly were friendly and helpful... The food was prepared well and everyone in my family enjoy their meal... The menu was varied but not too crowded... The boathouse had a decent choice of wines and beers...It's an excellent place to bring a large family they can accommodate groups up to 10 or 12 people maybe more I'm basing that on the groups that were surrounding us on the nearest tables... We all enjoyed our meals and I will definitely be back when the weather changes to experience the spring and summer in the restaurant.

All in all, the experience was just okay. The waiter was welcoming and friendly. However, because the place dons the air of being upper end and the environment is impinged upon by the very large centralized bar, everything felt somewhat awkward. The view was lovely but the collected commotion of the environment negated the peacefulness of the water view. The risotto was over peppered, the mixed green salad was primarily long untorn strips of romaine with perhaps a half a teaspoon of the vinaigrette. The mint mocktail tasted like mown grass. The salmon was delicious but was served with, what was supposed to be broccollini, but instead was served with a large amount of the pedestrian variety that was partially undercooked and unadorned. That strong flavor was incompatible with the intelligence of the fish and sauces. The sauces were interesting. They tasted lovely and were subtle. The appetizer and the additional fish dish were quite good. No bread was brought to the table. No dessert selection was offered. And then there is the expense, which was considerable.

Although the food was delicious, as someone who’s constantly dining at all Newport restaurant group restaurants, I was disappointed in the portion, especially since I have been to the boathouse and ordered the exact same thing, paid the same price and got half the portion. Will probably not make the drive here again.

We made a reservation for 8:30. We arrived at 8:25. The hostess was confused about our table request . The manager suggested that we grab a cocktail and have a seat at the bar while the table was cleared. While waiting at the bar we noticed that another couple who just walked in was seated at the table we were waiting. For. I spoke to the manager and he apologized and suggested that he’ll find us a table in the dinning room. It is now almost 9:00. We finally were seated in the dinning room and waited at least 10 minutes before our server greeted us. Since we had such a long wait we already knew what we were going to order. Our server took our order and within 10 minutes our appetizers were brought to us. The oysters were as fresh as can be and the shrimp chowder was absolutely delicious. It’s all down hill from where. We split a salad and entree. This came 40 minutes after appetizers were brought to us. Extremely slow service and the dinning room was almost empty. The seafood scampi was extremely salty to the point I could not eat it. And the scallops were dry .The salad was wilty and had too much dressing. Overall the experience was dissatisfying and the food was marginal. We will not return to this restaurant.

First off, I love the Boathouse. Been a Fare Rewards me.ber for 10+ years. Just went for an app and a beer to kill an hour. My calamari was lacking, well, calamari. What I did get, did taste great. Our bartender Jeff HUSTLED like crazy. He was all over the place turning out drink after drink. What a machine. It would have been nice though if the 2 others behind the bar hustled half as much. Everyone behind a single bar should be blending hustle and conversation the same. Otherwise so e customers just feel ignored. Can't beat the ambience!!!!

The view was spectacular, with reservations we were seated right away. It took a very long time for us to have our meal brought to table and much of it was missing, salad never came and scallops ordered with the filet had to be asked for, but the worst part of the experience was the sampler appetizer and the assistant managers attitude toward the situation. One of the oysters was just the shell,no oyster! The managements attitude was, we brought you another oyster, shrugged his shoulders and walked away. For a restaurant of this caliber the attitude as well as food presentation was very poor.

Great food and drinks. Good service. I had the fish taco on pita bread followed by creme brulee and it was fantastic. My husband got the hall of fame soup followed by a raspberry apricot cake that he raved about the whole weekend. The only complaint i have is that the dessert took over 20 minutes to come out. And the clam chowder then I got had semi raw potatoes however overall it was good.

This is a great location right on the water. Food is locally sourced and absolutely amazing. A fair drink selection mostly focused on wine it seems. Definitely a more up scale establishment. However the whole restaurant had a slight shellfish smell about it. Nothing to turn you away but noticable.

First of all, the food and atmosphere are amazing, but, unfortunately, our service tonight was lacking. We live out of state and visit the area once or twice a year. We always visit Boat House on our travels and we have never been disappointed, until tonight. In fact, we often make a second reservation while enjoying our initial experience. So, tonight we had a 6:45 reservation, but we arrived 20 minutes early to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail at the bar. The host told us they were operating on time and we should have our requested table by the window in time for our reservation. No problem, we weren't in a hurry,... until two other parties who arrived well after us were given window seats and we were still waiting 20 minutes past our reservation time! My husband made eye contact with the host who then obviously realized he had forgotten us. He finally approached us and seated us at a wonderful table. No mention was ever made of our delay! When we commented to the bar tender that we had been forgotten, she blamed Open Table for the issue! On every past visit, a manager or host has approached our table to ask about our experience. No one came back to us tonight. Our waiter was sufficient, but definitely not up to the level we have come to expect from the Boat House. Unfortunately, we will not be reserving a table on Open Table for our next visit to Newport... time for a break from the Boat House.

I love the atmosphere and being able to look out over my own neighborhood while the sun sets. Some things are priced on the expensive side. It seems that you are paying for the view. The ingredients they use are very good, and the meals are usually satisfying. This is a great place for a date and a drink.

The food and drinks are always great and the view is wonderful. They have a heated tent section for the winter, and although it was around 30 degrees when we ate on the patio, it was very toasty warm. I think the drinks are the best thing on the menu here but the seafood is also fantastic. I probably wouldn’t order the veggie burger here again but everyone else’s food was amazing. The side of Brussels sprouts I ordered were amazing

We were late to our reservation by almost twenty minutes and they saw that it was for a special occasion and held on to the reservation for us and we appreciated that very much. There were no problems with the reservation, the service, or the food. Most restaurants see that I’m only a teenager and don’t treat me with the same respect that they would with adults but at The Boathouse I can certainly say they’re not like most restaurants. The server was extremely friendly and helpful, the staff was very welcoming and the view was beautiful. For being a popular restaurant with many people, it didn’t feel crowded and cramped and our food came out timely. The food was delicious and the overall atmosphere was great. Looking forward to coming back again soon!

Waiter did not smile, saw him leave our table and hurry to serve others. Could have had been a little sociable. Would not accept our credit certificate without proof from our last visit. Did not care for our food. Had to ask for the bread.Called ahead said we were celebrating a 75th birthday. Asked for a high table didn't get it. And they did not even remember the celebration. Not one word. Could have made a note.

We chose to go to this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary with friends Our first and last visit. Server was very good, my seafood pasta had a few skimpy strands of pasta. My husband emailed the restaurant group to explain our disappointment and was told the message would be passed on. He followed up several times, to no avail. We tried to have this addressed before writing a review. It's been a month with no acknowledgment. Terrible customer service especially with all their boasting about a great customer service policy. Paid a good amount for a meal that looked like an appetizer. Won't return.

Food was delicious. Waiter was nice. My husband and I have been going to the boat house for our anniversary for 5years now. We arrive to find out they cancelled our reservation by mistake, hostess wasn't sorry. Had booked weeks in advanced to have a table by a window to watch the sunset, no tables available since they cancelled reservation. No one seemed to care. Manager never came by. We go and nevermind spending extra cause their attention to detail is usually spot on. We have a nut allergy normally they take extra care management usually brings out the dishes to make sure no cross-contamination occurs, tonight that didn't happen I had to advise the waiter and ask a few times to be sure. I hope the Newport Resturant Group isn't getting to big that they are losing their touch.

Went there with my boyfriend and his family and I have to say the view was absolutely beautiful. The food tasted really good, big problem though. We all got food poisoning from the fish 3 out of 4 of us that night and the 4th when he ate our left overs as a test. tried calling the restuarnt to get to the bottom of this and they gave me the run around. Finally i got the chance to talk to the manager and she said that she was going to figure out what happened and let me know. never heard anything back. I think its safe to say that I wont be returning and unless you want food poisioning you shouldnt either

Best location, food and service not so much. Was the point of having such beautiful patio if you not going to use it. Is four steps away from the main dining room, but no, we can't serve you appetizers in there, REALLY? wake up and make someone take those extra four steps.
