REVIEWS OF Bacaro IN Rhode Island

Daniel Crow

Bacaro's menu features a wide assortment of tapas that are both fresh and high in flavor. We sat outside on the patio which has distant views of the river and downtown Providence. The staff is attentive, yet laid back. The atmosphere was very relaxing.

S Chart

They offer a diverse menu and not just the "Usual" Italian fare. I enjoyed the Clementine, fennel & arugula salad. I really appreciated the fact that they had a mixed roasted veggies entree, which was HUGE. Pork chop was perfect. Drinks are very generous. Careful ordering off the little plate/cheese/salumi menu - the price adds up quick. I think the chef designed meat/cheese board is a better option IMHO.

Accu Chem

Absolutely one of the most Exquisite meals I have ever had

Mike Oliveira

jose viveiros

Very good food tasty, but a bit pricy.

Ted Gast

Nice outdoor seating. Good food. Good wine selection. Seafood and Italian sausage shop.

Hands down, consistently impressed by the quality by this restaurant. Just like the song lyric, sea to shining sea, this restaurant is tops. Beginning to end. From your greeting, seating, service, clearing, food quality and exit... it is amazing. Even the bussers and food expeditors are friendly and courteous. Hands down, a top favorite in Providence, consistently

Michele Rizzo

This is my favorite restaurant in Providence. I eat here twice a month and always order the crispy chicken over pasta fagioli because it is absolutely amazing.

Brett Bauer

Food and experience were average, but way way way over priced. Menu is very confusing, too much stuff and too many offerings.

Denise Potvin

Hands down, our favorite restaurant in RI! And those lemon drop martinis...

Mary Jalloh

Great Italian food options, friendly wait staff, historic building

Tim Parsons

Never had a bad meal here. Charcuterie is amazing and the pasta con fungi never disappoints.

Betty Siu

Great service and everything was delicious. We like getting meat and cheese plates and all the cheeses were excellent and unique. Highly recommend the drunken cow cheese!

Joseph Kern

Great food and service. Desserts are great.

Candis Konesky

Hands-down some of the best Italian I've ever had!

Al

Great atmosphere and food but honestly. The bartender there was treating people horribly if she doesn't like her job quit. Very rude .To a young couple sitting next to me .

Kate Smith

Food was amazing! Drinks were good, as was the service

Devon Bailey

Awesome place and the drinks are amazing

playas53

The food and service was better the first time

Stacey Bucci

I am only giving it three stars because the food was good. The service however was absolutely terrible and the waitress I had had no sense of personality and was disconnected. She took a very long time to take our orders, both for our appetizer and our entree and did not offer and service or question us if we would like any help with the menu, rather we had to track her down and ask. For the reputation and price of our dinner we expected much more. The menu also did not offer much of a variety besides an array of different pastas without any meat for a very high price . The tapas were good .

Mark Murphy

Always an amazing dining experience.. With an outstanding staff!! Our favorite place.

Nik Raufi

I’m usually not critical of restaurants because I’m not too picky. Three issues - 1) inattentive staff, 2) the food was definitely not spectacular and 3) wayyyy overpriced given the previous two factors. Great atmosphere though!

Emilia D. Peña-Disla

I couldn't believe how small the restaurant main floor is. Once we sat we noticed that there is a second floor. Then I was sold... The view was stunning. The food was sophisticated in flavors. Definitely going back again. Highly recommend to try something from the dessert menu.

Deanne Girouard

This is my favorite restaurant hands-down. Yes, a bit expensive, but the freshest, best quality, extraordinary ingredients, extremely creative, beautifully presented by accomplished chefs with love of food in their hearts. So, you get what you pay for, plain and simple. I do have my favorites but one dish I'll never forget was a wide flat pasta with lump crab and a sea urchin infused brothy sauce. I haven't seen it on the menu in a long while, but perhaps my visitation pattern is off. The sea urchin flavor was incredible and makes my mouth water thinking about it. The small plates are incredible, amazing salads, great bread, love the pasta dishes...and the fig tarte, when seasonably available...OMG! I've all but once had extremely friendly and professional service and I've been eating there for about 18 years. Great manhattans too. This is not a place to rush in and out of, but to savor every bite and enjoy a relaxed fine dining experience. It doesn't get better than Bacaro. It's never loud like most restaurants and they take reservations! Staff are well trained, food knowledgeable and pleasant. Please, let me know if the sea urchin dish will be "coming soon!"

Roy

It was good, but not great. For the money I expected great

Jeff Di Donato

Food is so flavorful!

Mark Thompson

Very good Italian restaurant, with the best sausage & cheese plates you'll find outside of Tuscany. Service and ambiance are excellent. The pizzas are outstanding, but not heavy: you can have one as an appetizer. The crispy chicken pasta entree and the duck are very well prepared.

Carlos Zambrano

Good food overseeing the Providence River.

Brian Piotrowski

Amazing Itailan food in an upscale setting without too many frills. The wait staff is attentive and friendly, and quite knowledgeable about the menu. I highly recommend this establishment.

Cory Lincourt

Service was great! The food for restaurant week was just okay. First course was delicious but second and third course we're lacking flavor.

morgan helies

Great spot for dinner. Terrific staff. Very good menu!

erik rhee

Fantastic dining experience! Every course was right on point. We had three appetizers - the octopus which was perfectly cooked, the crepella which was delicious and the clams which I didn't even get to taste because everyone else in my party ate them. The veal was excellent as were the other main meals I tasted. The butter cake was my favorite dessert. The dishes all had a sophistication to them that I really appreciated. From start to finish one of the best balanced meals I've had in a long time.

Dan Alves

Extremely pleasant experience. The building is aesthetically pleasing and plenty of attended, off-street, free parking. Dress code is business casual (although sadly not enforced) and the tapas dishes were more than satisfying. As we were seated, we were quickly greeted and coached on the ordering protocol. Ordering nine tapas dishes to split between two, they arrived at a proper pace. There are two levels in the building and we found the top to be a bit loud due to the openness. If you indulge in the evil of the cane sugar, it is important that you browse the menu as you review the main meal -as some freshly prepared dishes take over 30 minutes to prepare. Our wait person failed to explain the preparation time and pretty much told us that we would be unable to order certain desserts because of the duration to cook. We settled on a dessert that took 20 minutes and would say it was terrific. We will go back and request 1st floor by the windows.

Jerry Fallon

I had a wonderful dinner and experience at Bacaro. The food, service and overall experience was fantastic. Will definitely go back whenever in Providence.

DJ MacSkillit

Food was delicious, decent wait time, had reservations so that made it easy. Parking lot was ample in space and not crazy far. I only take off a star for accessibility, injured or in a wheelchair might be a difficult seat. Also view was nice but not exceptional (blame city location). Overall a fine place for superior dinning. Unofficial dress code is business or semi-formal.

David Johnson

Totally pleased with our experience here. Great food. Definitely a good double-date kind of place.

vincenzo bollella

fantastic food, great staff, amazing bartender :)

Unfortunately, I have to change my review of this restaurant based on an experience from Saturday night. AVOID this place if you want to sit a table and eat dinner on a reasonable timeline!! Bacaro does NOT value their customers!! I had reservations for our group of 6 for 8:15pm. We checked in early with the host and were told that our table would be ready on time, so we went to the bar next door for a drink. We returned promptly at 815 and were assured by the hostess that it would only take a few more minutes. There were many parties gathered around the entrance and bar area waiting for tables, yet no sense of urgency from the staff. We continued to wait for twenty minutes, observing other parties being seated. Finally, we approached the host again and were told that "our" table was still occupied by a large group (20ppl) that was supposed to be done an hour ago. (The party was enjoying drinks and dessert and did not appear to be in a rush to leave.) We inquired about other tables, explaining that we all had small children at home and were all relying on babysitters so were under time constraints. At this point, we were not given an apology or any alternative or solution, just told that the table we were waiting for should clear up soon. We approached the bar, hoping to at least get a drink and maybe order an appetizer, and were met with being told the bar was occupied. 40 minutes after our reservation, a hostess agreed to set a hightop (directly next to the door) for us to at least wait and order some food. Eventually, we were given our "original" table, more than an hour after our reservation without any sense of apology or regret. There is no question that the food is wonderful and the servers are great. Despite those positive qualities, our overall experience was very disappointing. After spending more than $500 on dinner (plus extra sitter time), and after waiting more than an hour past our original reservation, I would have expected some acknowledgement of the great inconvenience we endured. I can not recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a nice sit down experience within a reasonable timeline. Clearly, they do not value their customers, nor care about the customer experience.

Carlton Bradshaw

Just superb. Great service, friendly staff. Unique enough for foodies, authent enough for Italian afficianados and tasty enough for anyone!! It takes me forever to order because everything on the menu is just plain awesome.

Anne Ciresi

Excellent! The veal and peas was the best ever!

Gary Stark

Literally the most beautiful food I ever ate. And, of course it was delicious and the the service was tremendous. Creative salads.

Jane LeVasseur

the food is always amazing & staff are truly professional

Steven Gebhardt

The food is top notch here. Great service. Good wine selection. Great place for an anniversary or a date night!

Chris Sanford

Took us too long to try out this place, we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, service, drinks and tapas. First class all the way, better than what we have found in most restaurants in Europe!

David Purdy

Excellent! Great atmosphere. We went withe tapas options and a brick oven pizza. But their pastry desserts are unreal. Amazing crust!!

Melanie Wolf

Best pasta and charcuterie in Rhode Island.

Joyce Smith

We have been eating at Bacaro's for 5 years. EVERY time we leave, we say the same things..."That was the best night...the food was absolutely delicious". We go to Bacaro's at least once a month...more is we can. Several times we have been heading into Providence with the intent of going to a "new place" for dinner....and......we always end up at our most favorite place...Bacaro's. It is worth every penny...every time. Thank you for making our date nights perfect!

Caroline Canney

Very good quality food

James Taylor

The food was "Amazing" My wife and I celebrated our 31st Wedding Anniversary there, it was our first time and it won't be our last.

Sean Hennessy

One of the best restaurants in Rhode Island

Joan Fernandez

I had a great experience with our server arthur! He helped make my experience as great as it could be. Amazing drinks, amazing experience amazing service, amazing food. Im very happy with my experience.

Andrea Hill

Delicious food, great service, excellent bartender.

Mike McNulty

$45 steak entree, wanted a veggie instead of the mashed, waiter suggested brussel sprouts. They forgot, came with mashed. Once alerted they brought over the sprouts. Bill comes and there is a $3 extra entree charge for the sprouts. Management is reluctant to waive, does waive it but sends the waiter with a message to keep in mind their item substitution costs next time. LOL. Somehow the waiter managed to give an utterly unapologetic apology, stating "sorry that's just the way it is" and that he was powerless to remove the $3 from the $120 meal for 2... Saying he doesn't want his manager to fire him after all! I'm sure a place that'll grind you for $3 on a botched substitution goes above and beyond in ingredient selection etc. right??? LOL. Too many good options in Providence to ever go back to this fake high end Italian restaurant. See you at Al Forno, or on Federal Hill.

b1gboy09

Bacaro is probably the best Italian restaurant in Providence. Food is always exceptional and the wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

Nadia Petrovic

Food was "ok" but over-priced.

James Hutto

Best dining experience ever. Grilled pizzas are incredible, and love the pasta con i funghi.

Seth Shapiro

Amazing pasta and charcuterie, wines cheeses pizza

Deb Laufer

Bocaro, what happened? Bocaro has been our favorite "go to" restaurant when we want a nice really meal out essentially since they opened. Last year we didn't go. We went a few days ago for our anniversary. It just wasn't the same. Maybe a night that was a little off? We sat at the bar and the bartender did tell us it was her first night. The service was a little off. As usual LOVED the pork belly and eggplant parmigiano. The bread used to be great. We got a little loaf that was a lot like what I can get at Stop 'n Shop. I used to love the Caesar. You would get real romaine leaves, not just the white ribs. This was basically a salad of white ribs, but the dressing is excellent and the croutons are to die far. The pizza was served lukewarm. We knew to order our tart at the start of the meal. It never got ordered so we just told them to forget it. The experience was terribly bad it just wasn't the type of service and dining experience we have been used to in the past.

Luca Bartolini

Excellent dining experience. You can definitely tell that the executive chef loves Italy and its regional cuisine! We came with low expectations (tired of too many "fake" Italian restaurants) and left very pleased by the no frills interpretation of genuine Italian classics, often reinterpreted with a twist! I'll give two examples: the arancini bites, accompanied by a balsamic vinegar reduction and hint of truffle and the cannoli, reimagined with a very thin chocolate crust that lets the goat ricotta and candied fruit shine. The tomato sauce accompanying the eggplant parmesan was prepared with attention and didn't leave any sour or unnecessary spicy (a common trick that other kitchens use to hide unripe tomatoes) aftertaste. Service was also excellent and the dining room upstairs is cozy with a very nice view of the kitchen. Strong work, we'll definitely be back!

Courtney Pedersen

Good food, menu and portions too big

Ricardo Fabbri

good service, subpar food for the price (skipped the first course)

Terrence McGraw

Nice place, great staff and good food

Theresa McMahon

Fantastic Italian cuisine and lovely space & view of the Providence River.

Jason Morgan

Very poor management. Needed assistance and the manager Dan not very good. Dan your in the wrong business buddy. Bad attitude.

Simon Fiorucci

Bacaro serves an array traditional Italian dishes, but their specialty and the one reason to go there is the huge selection of antipasti, from cured meats to cheeses to a wide array of small vegetable dishes. Tick what you want from the menu or pick one of the pre-selected platters, and be prepared for an overdose of flavors. The wine list is commensurate with the food selection, and the staff will help you pick the proper match if you ask. Homemade desserts on demand are really excellent. Beware however, that this comes with a hefty price. It is very easy to go over a $100 / person bill. For special occasions only! Note: the restaurant also doubles as a deli for meats and cheeses, and those come surprisingly cheap! A good alternative to shopping on Federal Hill.

Della Harris

Oh my, what a delicious experience. I had the roasted duck-leg and breast. And their home-made ice cream... Rigo was my waiter. What a pleasant charm he was!

Jennifer Moseley

Service was very slow, it took a very long time to order as well as to get our drinks and our food. The waiter did not seem concerned that there was such a delay. We ate upstairs without an elevator which was difficult for our older companions.

Teresa Maciel

The food is divine! Waitstaff is so friendly and accommodating. We weren't sure what we would find our first time here. We will defiantly find a way to return. We highly recommend this establishment.

Jesse Sullivan

Service and quality have gone down. Still good but worth noting the food and service are not what they once were.

Nathaniel Hopkins

One of my favorite Rhode Island restaurants. I would eat here every week if I could. The appetizer/cheese/salumeria portion is where the gold is here but you really can't go wrong with any option. Great place to celebrate any occasion with close family.

missa h.

Amazing staff and amazing food

Caitlyn Horbert

Inconsistent food quality and service.

Kelly M

Yes. It's amazing!!! They have a great fine dining experience with amazing food. I have only had the tapas menu and the octopus. Get the arancini!!

Anthony Ellerman

Accessible location for customers, best restaurant for everyone, and great service.

max s

Excellent tapas. Good wine list, and great service.

Derek Pajaczkowski

Can't speak for the restaurant but they have an excellent cocktail bar with a good bartender and great selection of antipasti made to order. Nice buzz to the place...

Kye Ehrlich

The small plates here are so good and perfectly crafted. One of the best meals you will ever have

RANDY BOTTELLA

We called in advance of going there since we had a show to go in a little over a hour and needed to make sure we would get right in. We got there and informed our waitress we had a show to go to in 1 hour, she said no problem she would make it quick. We ordered a salad, pizza and scallops. 50 minutes later all we had gotten was a salad and drinks, no food. They blamed it on a large party they had upstairs (that did not arrive until 20 minutes after we did). We ended up leaving the restaurant late for our show with no food and they did nothing for the inconvenience of their screw up.

Chris Demyanovich

When you sit down and are handed a cheese list similar to a sushi list that you would receive in a Japanese restaurant.. I imagine this is whilst heaven would be like. All of the food was fantastic. The atmosphere was great. And the cheese selection... Really took it that extra step. Highly recommended..and if you are a fan of trying different cheeses... A must try.

Lauren Tellier

The food here is really terrific. From the amazing selection of the salumeria (really cool, but can definitely increase the bill very quickly) to the cocktails, everything was amazing. We had chicken marsala and braised short ribs, both were terrific, mashed potatoes were unbelievable. We had the brownie ice cream sandwich and salted caramel truffle for dessert, the truffle was delicious, ice cream was good. The service was great. Everything was fantastic, highly recommend this place.

Kristy Cyr

Just lovely! We ordered a bunch of tapas options. I highly recommend the pork belly! Delicious. More favorites were the fried cheese, Arancini, pan seared scallops, and pan seared sausage trio. There was coffee ice cream for dessert when we were there, and we had cappuccino to top things off. We left satisfied and happy. Service was awesome!

H Car10134

Great meal, but DO NOT go on a weekend during restaurant week, they admittedly could not handle the "packed" restaurant. As a result the service was awful and painfully slow. Our waiter was very nice but obviously overwhelmed. I had made a reservation a week ago and when my first guests arrived they couldn't find my reservation, so they thought they were at the wrong place. When we arrived a few minutes later we were told our table was ready but they were out of menus, so we would have to wait. So we stood awkwardly in the entry way, in every server and customers way, for about 15 mins until enough menus were collected and wiped down before being seated. Once sat, it was very slow and chaotic. Drink orders were placed but not delivered for about 15-20 mins because according to them there was only 1 cocktail waitress on. That seems very understaffed for a 6pm on a Sat and as the restaurant filled wait times for drinks increased to 30+ minutes. Two to three busy boys hurrying by the table picking up plates without even asking if you were done. A full plate of food was taken away from me so quickly I couldn't even tell him I wasnt done because I was still waiting for my drink refill. When the mistake was pointed out, my food was apologetically replaced. Appitizers and entrees were fantastic, but due to the table next to ours complaining about how cold they were the heat was raised and by the time our bill arrived we were sweltering and couldn't wait to get outside. But before we could go we had to track down our to-go bags. If the food hadn't been so good I would have called my birthday dinner a complete disaster. On the way out we were told if we had come last Saturday things would have been much different, which was not very comforting. Hopefully not everyones experience is like this.

DeeDee Witman

Great food. When it's packed service can be iffy.

Matt Henry

Food is amazing. They struggled a bit on service. They try hard, but get mixed up a lot.

Jeff Lascase

Taste 10 out of 10 great places love the food and the location was good definitely recommend.

John Napolitano

Great owners. Great menu. Great food. Great view. What more can you want?

roger sherman

6 of us had dinner last evening . We had drinks at the bar and then it went downhill from there. First, it took over 15 minutes for the waitress to come to our table to take our wine and dinner orders. When the food came out two of the orders were cold and one order was not ready ( I actually think she forgot to put the order in). After another 10 minutes the the cold/missing dinners came out ..after the the other folks at our table after finished eating. We expressed our displeasure to both the waitress and the GM (Dan) but they did nothing to try to appease. We won't be going back. Too bad as I used to enjoy this place.

Brian Miller

Always an amazing meal and service

Scott Purdy

We had some quest visit and we went to see the WaterFire show. We wanted something simple to eat where we could accommodate everyone and a small child. My wife went in to check the place out to see if we should go in and be seated. She came out shortly after and said, "let's find some place else." Every item was priced $20 or more and it was an average place. If you're looking for something simple and good go right next door to The Wild Colonial. They have good food and drinks at a fair price and are accommodating to their patrons.

Dan Cab

Nice location and atmosphere. Went there for my anniversary. First time there and sorry to say it was a bad experience. My waitress showed very little experience. Took a while for her to get us water and bread. ( bad start already) When she finally arrived with water. She accidentally bumped into another waiter carrying drinks, causing him to spill drinks onto the floor and onto some patrons there. We ordered of food appetizers, entrees, drinks. Got our drinks, then waited, and waited longer. When I seen the server arriving with the food, it was our entrees? I asked, where are our appetizers? She looked confused and went over to our waitress to ask questions. Our waitress came to us and apologized. She asked if I still wanted my appetizers. I said no ty don't want to eat my entree cold. The entrees were delicious, but small portions. I left feeling hungry. That never happens on federal hill. Overall the restaurant is nice and food is very good. The rest, I guess is personal experience. Mine was not good.

Gary Wood

Went to Bacaro as part of the Restaurants Weeks and were extremely pleased with the experience! It was WELL WORTH the one hour drive to get there. The ambiance was amazing, food was fantastic and the service was impeccable, with our server being friendly and informative for our first visit. We will be back!

smooth sicilian

Excellent! Had dinner there last night with my wife and daughters. Also enjoyed our anniversary dinner there last summer sitting outside. Both times have been great food and service. We'll be back again!

R. Baya

Great food. Staff was friendly. A little pricy, but if you're with family for a fancy sit-down, it's the thing to do. I had some sort of a squid-like thing, I recommend, A++

Kevin Wing

What a wonderful place a food the chef are absolutely incredible

Aaron Roydhouse

Fantastic menu, excellent quality ingredients, and great yet not pretentious service.

Dave Weinberg

Best restaurant on Earth.

Robert Hovan

One of the Best, if not The Best Restaurant in Providence

Emilie DUVALLET

Terrible terrible service. When you order you order the desert at the same time. 30minutes after our main course we still had no desert. We decided to cancel our desert order and leave. When they brought the check the deserts were on it even if we canceled them. Took them an other 20min to change the check and bring it back. Even of the food is very good I don't think we will go again the service is terrible.

robert cabral

Came here Saturday night with my wife for our anniversary, absolutely the best meal we've ever had. Chef Allen is a master, that's really the only way to describe it. We ordered the roasted Narragansett little necks for appetizers, Chicken Marsala and the Pork Chop for entrees, and homemade pistachio ice cream for dessert. All were amazing! Out of this world flavors and the attention to preparation is bar none. The service was just as spectacular as the food. Never felt so attended to at any establishment ever, great job to everyone!!

Mary Herden

Baccaro saved my mother’s day. We mistakenly showed up at 5 but learned they close at 4. They kindly welcomed us in after a very long day for all of the staff. We had one of the meals. Service was excellent. Jacob was the best.

Kathy Newberg

Service was excellent. Alexandra explained the menu. Food was amazing. Definitely going back

Angelly Pimentel

My favorite restaurant in Providence!

John White

Food was nice. Service was mixed.

Jackie Gordon Singing Chef

Bring your extra stomach to Bacaro you'll need it. The grilled stone fruit, arugula, Prosciutto salad was sfreaking sexy. The ricotta stuffed squash blossoms with pomodoro were also dreamy. I think my BF was dancing as he ate the mortadella pockets filled with tallegio served with mostarda and the cured foie gras crostini. Next time, I'd pass on the Gorgonzola piccante filled dates wrapped in pancetta because there was way too much date juxtaposed with the other ingredients. The duck livers and onions crostini was another delish idea, but the livers were stringy. I wish the pasta Venetian was not a let down. They're seemed to be bread crumbs in the sauce that made it gluggy an the seafood was overcooked. We didn't finish it. The pork chop Milanese was MASSIVE and very tasty with wonderful fresh tomatoes, buttered noodles, fresh zucchini ribbons and arugula. We tried to finish it, but you have to order your dessert when you order your dinner so we had to choose to eat there desserts we'd already ordered. The desserts are all made to order. Well played Bacaro since no one would order dessert if they didn't beforehand. We had the cannoli cones and a damn good Bing cherry upside-down cake.

Nicholas C

Amazing Pork Chops... Hidden Jewel for sure...

Pedro Garcia

Good service, classy place and great food. More on the pricey side and you have to order your desert at the beginning of the meal as they make it from scratch.
