This was our first time here (Sat. evening). We had been quoted an hr., but then hostess asked us within ten minutes if we would mind a small booth. Reservations are recommended here. The service was outstanding! The steak and chicken picatta were wonderful. I ordered the ciopinno, which tasted great, however for the price, I found it to have very little seafood, 2 littleneck clams, 3 mussels, 2-3 shrimp and a fair size piece of white fish, with a very hearty amount of red bliss potatoes (actually too many potatoes I thought). Although the taste was wonderful and it did come with 2 toast points, which again was delicious, I felt like I was trying to fill up by eating all the potatoes, even though I felt like I had enough, finished them all to fill up...too much starch, not enough protein! The fourth member of our party ordered a pasta with chicken dish, there may have been some tomato pieces in it.. I thought it tasted good, although that person only ate about a 3rd of it.. I really am not sure if she was pleased with her meal? The restaurant was very loud, I loved the table we were seated at, in the front corner, probably the quietest seat in the house! My friends steak dish looked out of this world, how I wish I had ordered the same as I was disappointed with my dinner. The prices were slightly high, but not totally unreasonable, although I felt $26 was high for what was actually in the ciopinno...one more clam, mussel and shrimp would have made a big difference. I will say again, the service was outstanding, the flavor of the dishes I think was great, but I did find the ciopinno a disappointment.

This restaurant is FANTASTIC. I recognize that it is a lower cost, family friendly place in a big shoppping area, but it is of my favorite Italian food in Rhode Island. We have likely been about 12-15 times and the service is always excellent. They always get my steak perfect - a super tender piece of skirt with great sides for $20! I like the bread sticks and olive oil as well. They should get more South African wine and they will be perfect :)

Good food and service but rather crowded for the price. I like to have a conversation without feeling as though I am sharing it with everyone. I would like to start a campaign to bring back my favorite menu item, the porchetta sandwich. It was amazing but they no longer offer it.

We’ve been once before and we’re treated great with a great meal and great service. 5stars. I will say I will probably never come back to this restaurant simply because they don’t have what I want anymore. My wife and I asked for Alfredo along with our pasta. We were celebrating her birthday. We were told that they no longer serve Alfredo sauce. It takes too long to make. What kind of Italian restaurant doesn’t serve Alfredo sauce.

Food was good however the host "John" ruined the experience from the start. I have been to this restaurant several times and always enjoy the experience however when we were greeted by the arrogant host on his power trip we were reluctant to stay. Will definitely think twice about returning simply due to this interaction. First impressions are important and he does not represent the restaurant well!

A wonderfully warm and tastefully decorated Italian restaurant with fine food. It's my third time and the most enjoyable was the outside dinner I had. My only negative is that it is loud inside so not for a romantic date.

First time coming here and it was spectacular. The Veal Chop is the best I ever had and everyone else seemed to love there dishes. The manager greeted us and proceeded to fill our waters all night. Extremely good service and atmosphere.

Brought my customers there that were from out of town. Food and service was fabulous as usual. We got stuck with a table up against the kitchen which made it noisy but we got through it.

We have never been to Avvio and chances are, we will never be back. The service was very good and the wine delicious. That's about where it ended. There were 3 of us...we ordered Panzanella Salads with goat cheese to begin, I ordered the Chicken Piccatta, my husband order the braised lamb rigatoni and our friend ordered the special Fra Diavlo with calamari and mussels. First, the bread was cold and the bread sticks were stale. The salads had no goat cheese, but did have soggy bread. My chicken piccatta had virtually no flavor and sat on a mound of gummy linguine. There was no sauce on either. Probably the worst chicken dish I've ever had...especially disappointing as Chicken piccatta is one of my favorites. My husband had to search for the lamb in his dish..finding maybe 2 pieces. Our friend also had a mound of gummy pasta and very few mussels or calamari. With all the excellent Italian restaurants in this state, there will be no need to return to this place.

I visited the Avvio Ristorante located in Garden City Center. The restaurant is beautiful. However, I was disappointed in the meal I chose compared with cost of the meal. I chose the Grilled Shrimp and it only had a few pieces of shrimp on top of a small bed of white beans. The waiter attempted to be friendly but, wasn't "hospitable." I would not choose to go back, sorry.

Bryan made up for a terrible dining experience yesterday (at another restaurant) by providing classic service with expertise and style. Every particularity was met without request or worry. The short rib pasta and chicken sandwich were of the highest quality and taste. It's nice to have places that know what attracts and retains clientele. Families, business people and casual pairs mixed just like a trattoria in Roma...but with an elevation that suited my tastes. Hard to describe how this is done with inclusion for all types, and welcoming warmth. This place is truly one of a kind. Wowed by the homemade pasta. Bryan is a gem. The proprietors and staff enjoy good guests. Bonus...perfect espresso. .

I will leave 4 stars as I always feel there is room for improvement. I ordered takeout on a Sunday evening. I have never eaten here before then. The woman on the phone was attentive but I felt a bit rushed. I placed a to go order and came in to pick it up and was a bit shy using a gift card to pay as I feel sometimes it’s tacky(?) especially to have takeout at such a nice place. When it came time to be rung up and pay the bartender as extremely friendly and I felt very welcome. My food was good. We had salmon and the filet. Wish there were more side options to select from but overall a nice first experience, albeit takeout.

First visit there tonight. The food was good and portion was generous. I was there to catch up with a friend, and we stayed for 3 hours. They were pretty laid back. Nobody was rushing us, or giving us the look for staying that long. The only thing is that their red sangria was a bit sour and bubbly for my taste. Everything else was perfect.

All around great restaurant. Great food great service and great atmosphere. Love to watch the Chef behind the line. Authentic traditional Italian, seafood, and wood fired grilled items. Our server was very nice and substituted some items for us. We had the linguini with meatballs and grilled chicken which were outstanding. Definitely recommend and we'll be back.

Went her for a birthday dinner. Out waitress was very friendly and efficient. The food was very good. I had the gnocchi in a tomato sauce and it was delicious. I also had the chocolate ganache cake for dessert, which was phenomenal. And the coffee was great! Nice and strong. Overall a good dining experience.

Authentic, true italian and sophisticated are the words that describe Avvio Ristorante. Started off with the Milestrone soup. Scratch made and hearty. Then onto the Roasted Turkey Breast with roasted tomato aioli, bacon, lettuce served in toasted multi grain bread. Served with hand cut French Fries.

Friendly staff, relaxed upscale atmosphere and amazing Italian food! You can't lose. For those who love brunch they offer a delicious menu on weekends. I highly recommend the antipasto and spinach artichoke pizza. Won't say no to a Bellini either. Definitely give them a try!

This was my first time at your establishment and I must say it will be my last.ilast.it started with the appetizers right to my compt desert. I paid fifty one dollars for food I didn't even finish.my app was calamari that was chewy and shrimp that was over cooked .i sent that back and got a Caesar salad that had no dressing on it.my entree was pasta with little necks the pasta was over cooked and the clams tastes fishy my wife got the pasta with rave and sausage. Some of her pasta wasn't cooked and some were. Overall I was very disappointed with my visit. Maybe you should train the cooks on how to actually cook I will be very surprised if aviso remains open for business in the near future...

Four of us have been going to Avvio for more than ten years for our annual holiday get together ( as well as many other times during the year). Even with so many restaurant choices, it has been our favorite. Today it was not. Several staple items have been removed from the menu, including the carbonara , which is a favorite in Italian eateries. My friend ordered something similar ( she was told) and the wrong dish came entirely. I ordered orecchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe. It was soupy, with little in the way of either sausage or broccoli. Very disappointing. I don't know who is making the decisions or whether there is a new chef, but this was definitely sub par for this restaurant or any that sells itself at such a high caliber. Considering going elsewhere next time.

Food was delicious, price was the lowest amongst the Newport Restaurant Group offerings. Located in Garden City, so it'll be a great respite after shopping for a few hours. Quiet atmosphere despite how busy they appeared. They complementarily serve you thin bread sticks. Update: ate outside, had another great time. Honestly felt like vacation. Quiet, chilled, music was on at the right volume.

We normally arrived when Chris the bartender is working and he always greets us with a smile and has never forgotten our name from day one or what we have to drink. Avvio's had good service and a fairly wide selection of Italian favorites. They also make a good selection of gluten free items including parmesan chicken or veal - though only penne is available for gluten free dishes. Has a full bar for cocktails as well as after dinner selections. It is usually rather busy, so make reservations. The staff have been pleasant and knowledge.
