We were passing by and looking for Indian food. We came to this place, very tiny as it can be. Food was OK. We paid with credit card but put cash tips. Two days later, looking at my card statement, I saw that the waiter has taken the liberty of adding more tips for himself. I called right away, he never denied but stated that he will credit us next time. I told him we were from another state and had no intentions of ever eating there. He said to text him my address so he can send me a check. I texted it, two weeks later no money. I called him on the same number he gave me and he stated he had sent the check I must have given him the wrong address. Its going to 3 weeks, no money yet. I have all the proof. Watch out, always check your credit card statement when you visit this place.
Beware! As the name suggests, you can only taste here the food, but not complete your meal as the quantity is very less. Bharat claims to serve 16oz how does it matter, and the weight include the serving iron bowl as well! Bharat who takes orders doesn't like fellow Indians since he cannot fool them on quantity, quality and price! Actually, as long we go he says we are closed, while his sign board says open! Later he pretend doing a favor he asked us to site but mention to hurry without clarity. Surprisingly, the menu says 10pm it closes! I am bit ashamed of what he's doing as fellow Indian since people mistake his deeds and tiny mind views reflect large Indian hospitality and culture for his greed and manipulate nature. The Star and my tips here is for at least providing the taste. Go and eat in big town or cities and I don't regret if his local community doesn't support him anymore.
Tasty Indian food ! Give it a try, you will love it...
Awesome place. Excellent food, great atmosphere and tremendous service. We love this place! My favorite is chicken tika masala
Great Indian food in Mytic try it out
Very good food, some of the veggies a little over fried but great taste overall
Good food ,we loved it . We would love to come back for freshly punjabi food .
Every time I travel from Puerto Rico we search for Indian food...the place is warm and cozy and food was excellent. Price are reasonable and services was excellent. Try Lamb Rogan Josh.. Vegetable Masala and Lamb Curry. Mango Lassie is great and Taj Mahal beer is awesome.
Food is good but portion is too small. For the same portion u pay double price at dinner, not fair.
Food was ok, service was good, closes at 9 be mindful
Absolutely amazing!!! Food was spectacular and the service was phenomenal!!!
Doesn't like the taste..
Permanently closed
Small place. Great food. Very friendly owner.
Great spot , local , warm , great food
Excellent Samosa, and Biryani Chicken.
Delicious, had takeout, but the spices could be discerned in a very enjoyable way. Good price.
We came here on Memorial Day at 2:30 pm, lunch service. We were told that because of the holiday that there were dinner portions only, which almost doubled the price. I ordered my staple, chicken Tikka Masala. It was the most bland dish I've ever had. No flavor. My husband's lamb dish was half grizzle. Overall the $43 we spent was not worth it. There are better indian restaurants out there. Note this is not the first complaint about unfair pricing and "hidden charges" that A Taste of India has seen. Check out Yelp! for other reviews. I'm hoping something can be done about that.
It's 2:30 PM and the place has an open board hanging on the front window. But the doors are locked and the place is clearly closed. I think the place is permanently closed.
This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The food blew my mind, the service was beyond perfect, very personal, and we wound up feeling like we were eating with friends instead of a server. The place is tiny, very comfortable and the man running the front was wonderful.
Listen when I tell you. The food was absolutely delicious we had to order more on the way out after dining in. The gentleman taking the order was very polite and inquisitive being that we first came here on our honeymoon.
Food is awesome! And they are extremely nice and welcoming inside! Definitely recommend!
Loved delicious Indian food
Cozy, friendly, always deliciously consistently tasty food. Thank you always for wonderful food. Try the best Massala tea with your loved one. Must try Taste of India. When in Mystic, CT.
Update your hours if you aren't going to honor them. Fail
Excellent food
Always good food. Never disappointed here. Best Indian food in the state !
Very good food. Good prices. Overall, a very nice dining experience. We went on a Saturday night and did not have a reservation. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated immediately. We started with the potato Samosa which is so incredibly good. We also got the chicken kebab which was delicious. We will definitely go back. We dine in some of the best restaurants in CT and the service at Taste of India was truly better than any service that we have had in a while. The staff is VERY attentive and that adds to the enjoyment of a great meal.
The best Indian food around! Its great for takeout and in house dining is great too. We always have good service and the food is fresh and delicious. Don't go anywhere else for Indian!
My family had one of the best Indian meals at this cozy restaurant in Mystic. The service and the food rival some of the best Indian restaurants we have frequented in both New York and in England. Thank you to the chef and the staff and we will definitely be back again next time we visit Mystic! It was the highlight of our vacation!
I've been coming here for years, and have never found a restaurant more warm and welcoming. Takeout is swift and orderly and the food is consistently good. Eating in is fun too, since they have a BYOB policy.
Great service! Food is consistently awesome!
The best
Beware while giving tip. They charged me extra $10. Taste was okay. Service not good not proper area to seat.
Excellent Indian food. Great service
Insanely delicious, superbly prepared, phenomenal presentation. Owner was pleasant and friendly, but not over the top. Tiny little, however quaint - truly authentic dining experience. I highly recommend this location should you find yourself in Mystic, especially if you find yourself Indian cuisine curious.
We visited this place on the 4th of July. The person Who greeted us seemed least interested in serving us. We waited for more than 15 minutes for someone to take our order. We then decided to go to a different place instead (Mirch Masala) which had amazingly mouth watering food.
Great Indian food...brings back Indian nostalgia...the Chef and owner of the person...is the best...timely service at great price..
Beware of their online ordering! Placed an order today, went to pick it up and the restaurant was closed at 2pm even though website indicated they were open. They took my credit card yet I clearly didn't receive my order. Called later that day and the guy who answered said he couldn't help me??? Not only did I not get my order, but now have the hassle of having to dispute this charge with my credit card company - so much for easy take out! So many other restaurants in Mystic with amazing food and fantastic customer service! Wouldn't recommend at all!
I have never experienced such a worst restaurant. Staffs are very rude and food is not so great. The staff talking ridiculous and never recommend anyone to visit this place.
Food was awesome. Only Indian restaurant in Mystic that too with good tasting food. Thx for the food.
Best darn curry in the area. I love this place.
My all favorite indian spot! Love the owners and the food is 100% perfect. Tiki Masala me up!!
Situated in a small non descript location. We bumped into this restaurant by accident. However the quality of the food surprised us pleasantly. Specially the naan, paneer butter masala was amazing. Food simply melts in your mouth. Veg biryani was of course was not very authentic but was passable. Overall very good taste that makes me comeback again.
Nice food. The nan was so soft.. try it
Outdated, dark, dirty and poor service, needs alot of improvements. Wouldn't go back, we left before our food came.
My wife and I always eat here. The owner always greats us with a smile and makes us feel like family. Tiki masala is the best!
I've been a local customer for years and the food has always been excellent! The service is quick and friendly. The space is intimate and comfortable and convenient to get to. Highly recommend the chicken korma and vegetable samosa. Also, support your local small business. Their heart and soul is in everything!
Delicious, authentic Indian cuisine, generous portions and a variety of choices served up by personable staff.
TL;DR review: tasty Indian food, average service, and average portion sizes - good value if you go there during lunch hours (before 3pm). This is only the 3rd time I've ever eaten at an Indian place, but it was very tasty. Mango Lassi - Extremely tasty stuff, but VERY filling. Naan - We ordered Garlic and plain, both were tasty, but I can't compare it to naan at other places. I enjoyed it. Chicken Tikki Masala - Simply incredible. Can't wait to eat more of this awesome dish. Average portion size. The restaurant itself is quite small - seating for maybe 20 people and it's cramped at that. The service was OK, nothing remarkable about it (good or bad). My only major gripe with this place is that apparently there is no difference between the lunch and dinner portion sizes - which means you literally just pay more for no reason if you eat here after 3pm or on holidays.
Went for lunch during open hours, sign said it’s open, but no one was there. The person who works next door said this happens all the time, the owner leaves while it’s open for hours during lunch. Very unprofessional.
This is the worst Indian restaurent I have been to... From food to service everything was bad. Service - Utensils were not clean, drinking water was bad, tables and chairs were not cleaned properly, waiter asked if I will order more i will get a dish free.. on top of this bad service a high service charge was added in my bill without asking. Some of the food items were also stale.. Not worth the money
OMG...the best Chicken Tikka Masala I've ever eaten! The naan was soft and fresh and the iced tea was delish! A great find...will definitely be coming back.
One of my very favorite for indian food. The house platter is a winner as is the mixed bread basket. The Madrass, the Saag, the Paneer, all great. I don't eat meat so cant spaek to the lamb and such but all the chicken, veg dishes and the shrimp dishes are the best! Let the owner make you dishes he likes and you will get stuff not on the menu. Can BYOB too!
Mango chicken!!!!! Trust me when i say you can do no wrong with that order... Also an order of garlic Nann!!!
I've seen this place for several years on the internet, finally had a chance to try it. Overall, however, not impressed. We ordered (1) Garlic Naan, which was good but nothing special, (2) Paneer Naan, which was flavorless, (3) Lamb Curry, fine, but again, nothing to differentiate from any other Indian restaurant, and (4) the Tandoori Mixed Grill, which, for almost $22.00, sorely disappointed. Not only was most of the dish dry and barely edible, but much of the Chicken Tikka had an "off" smell, so bad that we decided not to eat it, just to be safe. The food alone was edible, but the "off" smelling Chicken Tikka and the rather high price mean I would not recommend to anybody.
I’ve been here twice for dinner with my dad (a picky eater) and we’ve both loved it every time. The owner is an incredibly kind man who tries his best to make the experience great for everyone!
Small and very intimate food was great also
My favorite Indian food in Connecticut! Excellent food wonderful service!
We went here at 8:40pm Thursday. As we arrived delivery guy said they closed, chef went home even though it's meant to be open until 10. Stupidity we tried for lunch next day. My husband sat in the car and asked me to just make sure it was open before he got out. The open sign was showing. I opened the door, no one there but I got husband to come over. A minute later when we got to the door it was lock bolted and the lights were off... We are well surprised! Going to the other Indian 15 minutes away. Ok - so as we travel to other restaurant, Taste of India delivery car speeds ahead of us - veers out of lane a few times. Curiouser and curiouser...
My wife and I love Indian food. We were staying across the street at the Taber inn for her birthday. Tried ordering food at 9pm on a Sunday. They say they are open until 10. No answer after several calls. I walked over to the restaurant to see their Taste Of India van leaving at 9.15pm, lights off in the restaurant. You should at least have the decency to answer the phone and tell people if you plan on quitting work early.
The best Indian food in town. 6/5 stars
Flavor of the food was fantastic and the lunch portion of my order was more than generous. And the price was right, especially considering that the fast food sandwich across the street costs just as much.
Best Chicken Tikka Masala in the world!!!! Great Chicken pataya and samosas
Ok
