Poor quality food. We ordered chicken biryani and chicken seekh kebab karahi. The food was tasteless and the masala was undercooked. The kebabs tasted like they were cooked a week ago and were microwaved for the karahi. Portion sizes were smaller than some of the other Pakistani restaurants around. Service was below average (rude and distant), which I wasn't expecting since some of the other reviews here praised their service . The prices were too high, we ended up paying $27 for just the two items. I wonder why the restaurant has some good reviews here. Maybe the management changed or I got there on a bad day? Looking back at my experience in terms of the quality, quantity, price and service, I am definitely not coming back again any time soon and will not recommend this place.

I ordered Chicken Biryani n Chicken Jalfrezi. Very bad standard, horrible, it was just eatable, nowhere close to how it should taste. Very much disappointed. I am still thinking why did I try those items instead of some kebabs which I heard they are good.

Was passing by to see a friend and stopped by this Pakistani restaurant. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I was immediately greeted and and seated. The whole menu looked delicious to where I couldn't decide what to order. I ordered the chicken kabab and I must say I was shocked. The chicken was perfectly cooked and had just a hint of spice just the way I liked it. The rice was cooked to perfection. And the white sauce on the side was phenomenal! I couldn't get enough of it. I had to ask for extra sauce. The bread was super fresh and very good. I would definitely come back and highly recommend everyone to try this place. Very satisfied with their food and service.

Best Indian and Pakistani food I ever had!!!!! I went with my boyfriend to this restaurant last week, when I walked in I noticed it was family oriented and great customer service, the owner was greeting people which I found fascinating, he took us to a table of our preference and treated very well. Our server was phenomenal, smiling, attentive and very kind. And the food was just amazing!!! I'll definitely go back there and next I'll bring my family.... :-)

Delicious Indian/Pakistan dishes. Food was excellent and spiced just to my liking. Was a bit confusing if I should order at counter or sit to be waited on. We grabbed a menu feom counter and sat down to look at it and a petson came to take order. You get your own fountain soda.

Zahra is probably my favorite restaurant in the area. Not only is their food delicious, but as a spicy food enthusiast, I appreciate that they don't attempt to coddle my "American tongue" by holding back on the spice (though they accommodate your spice level). I would like to recommend a favorite dish, but I cannot choose between the chicken platter, paneer achari, and chicken karahi. They are all the best for different reasons. I can tell that they care about producing quality meals, and eating at Zahra's is like eating at a friend's home. You are made to feel welcome, and they want your experience to be positive. All around greatness.

Zahra is my favorite lunch destination in Mechanicsburg. Today, the owner suggested the chili chicken platter variant and it was outstanding with the green garlic sauce. The owner is very friendly and you can tell he takes pride in his work. I recommend this place to everyone open to trying Pakistani food.

This is fast becoming one of my favorite places. Their lunch chicken barbecue platter makes me come back for more each time. I don't know what sauce they use for it, but it's one of the best. Their tikka masala will always be a classic, as well.

Great food with minimalist setting. One of the best places in Mechanicsburg, Harrisburg area if you are looking for Indian, Mediterranean, Pakistani food. Lot of options if you are a meat lover, however the chef is generous enough if you are a vegetarian and would try to customize your it to your options. Would definitely suggest to try out the buffet during lunch hours on Friday.

Good place for different kinds of kabab. We tasted 4 types. Bihari kabab tasted best to me. It looks like a relatively small family run place. However, i felt the owner/staff/one at the counter lacked warmth in behavior. Later found out, he was pissed off due to other reason. He apologized and explained before we left the place. This the only place we eat when passing through Harrisburg, the food is THAT good . Had a chance to stop in last night. The vegetarian falafel wrap is incredible. The owner is always extremely sweet, goes out of his way to give the best possible service and is extremely detailed when taking orders. We ordered a falafel wrap and he cut it in half and plated separately without us having to ask. He mistakenly overcharged me by two dollars, which I didn't even notice, and he later came out and returned them extremely apologetic. Super honest and sweet guy with extremely flavorful food. He makes conversation with his guests regularly and is extremely friendly, as all the staff has always been to us. I've never had a bad experience, don't understand some of the reviews. I'd suggest anyone who likes ethnic or spicy food try this place asap. Food will not disappoint!

WOW I mean WOW! The food here is exquisite yet very reasonably priced. They have three separate styles of cuisine. Pakistani, Indian, and also another variety of middle eastern. I ordered the lamb teeka kabob and chicken kabob platter and it was delicious. The waitress was extremely informative and helpful. The most amazing delight was that Jalanni the owner came out and greeted my family with the warmest welcome and hospitality. It is a quaint and cozy place next to all the other shops that could be easily missed and blankets. We will be definitely come back.

Zahra’s we happened upon. We decided to try them and went back maybe 4 times within a month. It is our current go to spot for Pakistani/ Indian food and it is absolutely delicious. Favourite dishes include paneer tikka masala, chicken korma and the samosa chaat. The hummus plate is delicious, the servings are good, all sauces and curries are homemade. The flavours are excellent and the owners are lovely. If you’re looking for good eats, this is a good place to go.

I've been to Zahra's at leas six times, and never had a bad experience. The food is great, and I always leave full. For people unaccustomed to Indian and Pakistani foods, a lamb gyro or a lamb wrap is a good place to start. The owner is friendly, and usually starts up some conversation. After being there a few times, I can tell he works hard so people can enjoy their meals.

The grill chicken platter was 10 dollars but i can get 5 dollars chicken over rice in halal foodcart in harrisburg downtown is more fresh and delicious. my suggestion is please reconsider about your price on food. The food is always hot and fresh. I always ask for extra raita (yogurt) and they always accommodate. They even brought us dates and water during Ramadan. In my experience, delicious food is not easy to come by in Central PA (a place where seasoning/salt is rare, and raisins are definitely going into the potato salad). This place is truly a diamond in the rough. The staff is always polite--even the cook comes out to flash a smile and say hello from time to time. If you're into good tasting food, dine here.

Best Indian Food I've Ever Had! I have visited many Indian restaurants, even some on the west coast, and this one is by far my favorite. Easily the best one when it comes to flavor in the Harrisburg area. I've been here more times than I can count! The Curry Goat is amazing, the meat is tender, and the sauce is to die for. The Chicken Korma is out of this world. The Chicken was also very tender, and the sauce was so delicious that I had to use my naan to clean my bowls. Couldn't get enough of it! The buffet is outstanding too. Great food! Great service! Great everything! I've had many different restaurant apps on my phone for years, and never have I had the urge to write a review for any place, until now. Definitely come check this place out!

I've been ordering from Zahra for around a year at the recommendation of a co-worker. I travel to Harrisburg a lot for work, and the food at Zahra is good; however, after one of the employees (who could possibly be the owner) treated me today, I will not be returning in the future. I brought another one of my co-workers in today to order dinner to go and we were greeted by a man (presumably an employee or the owner). My co-worker had some questions about the spices and I was deciding whether to order from the Indian food menu or some of the restaurant's other offerings. During the entire conversation, the employee was complaining about his online reviews and that all of his food offerings were fresh. We ordered for takeout and waited at one of the tables; my co-worker was sitting and I was standing. The employee came over and told me to take a seat in a condescending tone. I asked him what the issue was and he told me that I was "scaring" the customers. I politely took a seat out of respect for his wishes, confused as to why he would act like that towards me, especially after spending money on food at his business. Once our food came out, I asked the employee off to the side to ask why he reacted like that (he could be having a bad day). He immediately got defensive and said he had to help another customer (not true) and I wanted to speak to him away from the other customers not wanting to make a scene. He reluctantly came to the side and I told him that his behavior was unacceptable and that if he wanted better reviews online, he had better start showing his customers more respect. The employee talked about some "incident" he had with another customer and quickly gestured me towards the door as if he was escorting me out. I have eaten at a lot of Middle Eastern restaurants, and never have I been treated with such disrespect. I work in client services and would never treat a respectful customer in the manner that this employee or owner treated me, but yet the employee/owner attempted to portray me as a gangster looking to cause trouble. My advice for the employee or owner is that food and customer service go hand-in-hand and that treating his customers right will ultimately lead to better reviews and will be beneficial for his business. Attempting to paint all customers as troublemakers will alienate his customer base and turn other people away. In conclusion, the employee never apologized and in my opinion, the service I received today was subpar. I will not be returning in the future. UPDATE: It looks like the employee I spoke to at the restaurant was indeed the owner, and he left a comment on my review accusing me of fabricating my review. Instead of worrying about your reviews all the time, maybe you should serve your customers better. Instead of attacking the integrity of your customers with your responses, you ought to take a look at your integrity and the way you treat others. Unfortunately, it seems like I might not have been the first person who was treated badly at your establishment.

Really loved this place! The alu samosas with both dipping sauces were the best I’ve had! My kids even loved them (and they aren’t into trying a ton of new things). The paneer Tikka Masala was very yummy- I had mild and I think next time I’ll get spicy, but still yummy. The naan was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, very good. The mango lassi was creamy and delicious with just the right amount of sweetness. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful- they even brought out complimentary little bowls of rice for my two kiddos. This definitely satisfied this pregnant mama’s craving. I’ll be back- my kids even asked to come back again.

The food is excellent, brilliantly spiced, and authentic. The family who runs it is so personable and attentive. Food was ok. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Sandwich was good. But the biryahi platter and rest was just ok. Charges 15% tip without customer permission. Didn't try getting the 9 dollar tip back.

I see some 1 star reviews and can't understand why - The food and service was amazing! We ordered take out as well as some naan to munch on while we waited for our dinner. The chef (possibly also owner?) brought out a small lentil dish and some hot masala for the naan free of charge. Our main dish, the two-portion karahi lamb, was complex and obviously made with quality ingredients by an experienced chef. The vegetables/spices in the curry were rich and fresh and were just as much as a highlight as the generous portions of lamb. Service was great too - The manager/chef was friendly, generous, and clearly enjoys his work and making sure his customers are happy. Good sense of humor too. The only improvement Zahra could make is on the plain atmosphere. If they want to be a venue to the dating scene they may want to add some more decor/plants and dim the lights. Overall impression: If you want some amazing Indian food for a reasonable price and reliable service, go here.

The food here is wonderful! I came here by myself, a newbie to these type of dishes, and the waitress was so helpful. The grilled chicken platter sounds unassuming, but it is amazing, I fell in love with these flavors like I never imagined. I went back with my husband, we each ordered a different platter after speaking with the chef who helped us select them, and this place has become one of our faves. Kudos Zahra, we'll be back again! This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants! The owner is always friendly, the food is always delicious, and you'll always get your money's worth! My favorite is the Chicken Korma, but the food available on the buffet is delicious as well.

I usually do not like giving reviews but unfortunately I have to give this reviews I ordered a chicken seekh Kabab 4 piece and they cut it into 2 piece and they sold it as $2 price on me 1/2 Kabob $2 I am not complaining about the price but I am complaining why they are cutting the Kabab into pieces and sealing it as one piece that is how they stealing money from people I am surprised they still in business I have a picture in my phone I wish I could post a picture but my phone is not giving me any option like I said I am not a reviewing person but I'm very disappointed with this restaurant

I've been to a lot of Indian and Pakistani restaurants but this has to be one of my favorites by far. In town on business and a couple co-workers and their wives took me to Zahra. The food was amazing and the owner is awesome to deal with. Can't wait to eat the leftovers for lunch today.

I have been to this restaurant many times and sadly I have to agree with the other reviews on this restaurant’s rather impolite and rude tipping policy. The food was good prepared well for us. The gentleman actually took personal interest to ensure we were served well. Thank goodness he was around to attend to us but left shortly after when I think his wife was left in charge of the place and boy did she change our dining experience in minutes from pleasant to most unpleasant experience ever!!! I have never been demanded and fought over for a tip in any restaurant!!! She literally argued and fought over the tip demanding in the rudest tone why we won’t tip her more than she asked for the audacity I must say! Tipping is left up to the customers based on service and for her attitude she should get none! She left a very bad taste in our mouth for sure & doubt if we will go here coz of her terrible attitude she needs a lesson in manners and etiquette!! She even ignored us when we asked for something our table needed and proceeded to mop the floor where we sat! Her Awful manners really put us off she needs a stern lesson on how to serve people politely especially when you are in the business of service. I have my doubts of going here again and or recommending this place to others! Zahra it’s your loss!!!!

Outstanding Pakistani food and great service. Their spicy Paneer Tikka Masala is seriously one the best dishes I have ever had! Their falafel has an excellent texture and is perfectly crispy - and the sauce they serve it with complements it very well. With that being said, I would recommend getting take out for quickest service.

The food was absolutely amazing! My boyfriend who's never tried indian food and isn't a fan of spicy food thought it was fantastic too. We had the lamb korma, which was creamy, rich in flavour and the chicken jalfrezi. The naan bread i could of eaten alone by its self. The only downside is there isn't alot of seating so i can imagine there could be a wait when it gets busy. But I'd personally wait 20/30mins for a seat lol.

We have been coming here since 2014...Zahras is our family favorite!! It's the only place our six year old will eat with Indian cuisine/middle eastern cuisine. My husband and I love the flavor and spices of the many dishes they offer, and my six year old can still enjoy her chicken tenders and fries!! Have I mentioned..those too are AMAZING!!! Fast, friendly service and a great atmosphere. Prices are great too!!

My girlfriend and I used to go here once or twice a week when we lived in the area. I've had middle eastern food all over the place, and this is the best I've had in my life time. Even though we moved the away the owner still knew who we were and greeted us welcoming. He takes pride in his food and you can tell by the taste of it!. And if it isn't spicy enough don't hesitate to tell him he'll give you the kick you're looking for! We will continue to come back!

Chicken tikka marsala with rice & garlic naan was excellent. I called for takeout and it took about 20 minutes but everything was freshly cooked and excellent. I asked for spicy but below their normal highest spice level and it was awesome.
