We had our wedding at the William Penn Inn on 8.17.19. We had eaten at the restaurant many times before but once we walked in for our tour of the venue, I knew I wanted to get married there. It is so beautiful that I never want to leave. Caryn and Cathy really helped to make the process seamless. Kate did our flowers and they also provided the cake as well. I didn't feel stressed at all when it came to planning with the William Penn Inn. On the day of they set everything up beautifully and it was the most perfect day. And of course the food is delicious!!

They say is under a vent that blew cold air directly on me. They're only solution was to turn up the temperature so the fan didn't blow. The would not honor my request for a different table when the air conditioning kicked in at the new warmer level. I know you can't make the entire restaurant warm but you also don't have to use that area for a table for guests. Ruined Easter brunch. A full refund would be in order especially given a table with two 12 year old twins.

Very disappointed in the slow service. Our server was pleasant and courteous. Our soup, salad and drinks were served in a timely fashion But when it came to our main course, we waited over 30 minutes. We reminded our server that we were attending a concert in the city. She apologized several times. However, the main course was served to us so late we had only 5 minutes to swallow a few mouthfuls.Again apologies were made and we were each given a loaf of zucchini bread to make up for the slow service . William Penn Inn very disappointing.

Nice venue for a special occasion. The food is always top notch. I love the bacon wrapped scallops. They are always a nice appetizer choice. The spinach salad with hot bacon dressing is always good to start your meal. Love the atmosphere.

Love the brunch here. A little crowded and a bit of work to get to the food sometimes. A really nice variety and a wonderful.omlette and poached egg station. Lots of bacon and sausage for meat lovers and a really nice choice of salads and desserts. The staff is terrific and very helpful.

Attended my nephew’s wedding reception here last night. Felt like I was in a sardine can. My chair was partway on the rug and the dance floor. The chairs were tiny so they could jam 10 chairs at the table. Entree delivery was uneven as some people got their dish at the table while others waited over 5 minutes to get their food delivered. The bar was only staffed by 2 bartenders and always had a long line. They also need to tell the DJ to keep his karaoke band sound level down. I measured the sound level a few times and it averaged 95db, way too loud. This place would probably be fine for a smaller reception, but was way overcrowded for this reception. Was not enjoyable at all.

The buffet at holidays has become a mini-tradition. The food is always good and the staff is friendly and efficient. Parking is always a fun event, with the number of older folks who go, and it's an older crowd for sure. The only complaint is the price, while understanding it's a holiday, it's still very pricey for the value.

Superior service in the suburbs! I've been to this historic venue many times, similar top notch service every time, from brunch, lunch or dinner. Food is excellent, menu changes and additions to make each visit unique. Prepare to linger over your meal, this is meant to be an experience. They will happily accommodate large parties or intimate diners. Best to call ahead for reservations. Fresh flowers accent the lovely decor; real Christmas trees are decorated at the holidays. Great venue for weddings. Pricey, but worth the splurge. Tends to attract an older crowd, but children are welcome and anyone would enjoy the meals and lovely desserts. The very popular Sunday Brunch is self serve stations with chefs available to prepare omelets etc.

Went there for Holiday Brunch (Buffet style). The food was excellent for buffet food. The atmosphere was crowed and loud. I would have given this 4 stars, however, they were not accommodating to people with food allergies. None of there foods were labeled with the allergens inside. Also, the staff lacked knowledge on the allergens in the food where, different waiters claimed different food did or didn't have wheat in them. This should be a standard practice/ knowledge set at any restaurant.

Thursday night seafood buffet was awesome. Cold bar and hot bar. Raw oysters and peppered mackerel perfect. Hot bar had crab legs, sliced flank steak, sole, shrimp, pasta. Fantastic. Highly recommend going!

We chose the William Penn Inn (WPI) for its excellent reputation and past interaction with other banquets. The initial planning of the wedding went well and many extras were included. When the wedding day came, the trouble started. The florist had difficulty delivering the flowers since he was given a small window of time to deliver. This seemed odd since WPI has its own florist with their own refrigerators. The table flowers needed to be reworked 30 minutes before the ceremony since they were the wrong color and the wrong vase. The bartender was not very engaging and had a frosty personality. WPI has a rule that guests can only be served one drink at a time, so a person could not get drinks for a spouse or the groom or for a table. This is the first time we ever encountered such a rule. When a guest asked for a new napkin, a server provided a soiled one from another table. The coordinator and servers seemed hurried and inattentive. The dinner was served OK but after there were unbused tables and trays after the meal. There was a larger wedding next store. It is unknown whether the servers were supporting the other wedding also. The coordinator, at one point, complained to the bride that people were changing their orders. She did this numerous times. This information should have been provided to parents or some other contact. There were many other issues that could not be detailed here. We cannot recommend WPI after our event. These issues were brought to the attention of the WPI management. Update: The management of WPI was very concerned about the complaints that we discussed with them. They acknowledged that there was nothing that could resolve the memories of the special day. They worked with us and provided an acceptable resolution.

Wow. Just wow. The food was just divine, the picture I posted of what I got was fresh flounder from Cape May, NJ! The catch of the day. If you go earlier (pretty sure before 5pm, even on the weekend) you get the special of 35$ for a 3 course meal and its SO WORTH EVERY SECOND OF IT. Whoever the chef is, I hope you know you rock, they really try hard to incorporate the local area and make it as fresh as possible. Service is just perfect as well!

Great place for brunch! Great variety, quality and freshness. Service is usually good as well. My one issue is just how crowded they choose to make it. They pack so many tables in there that is impossible to move without inconveniencing another diner. I understand it's all about making $, but this really does take away from the experience due to the claustrophobic feel, and the strain on the serving staff who are constantly "in the weeds". Would be an easy 5-star rating of it was slightly less cramped. Highly recommend either way!

Excellent buffet with all the classics plus a few nice touches...tenderloin carved, duck with beautiful crispy skin, Jaeger schnitzel, little crab cakes, huge Polynesian shrimp and much more. To start, this place has a coat check, that I appreciate. I table was ready at out reservation time. Our drinks were always full. Timing of the courses were great, giving us a little time to talk between courses. The menu has a good amount of options. They have a price fix menu, regular menu, and chefs specials that change monthly. To finish dinner, they had about 10 different deserts with coffee and cappuccino drinks. This restaurant has plenty of parking and is easy to get to. The price of dinner is a little on the higher side ranging from $37 to $65. They do have a verbal kids menu.

Went for the steak and seafood buffet. Food was very good but server was not great. She did absolutely the minimum service. Did not show us dessert selection of specials saw another table's server showing it to them after we had ordered off a standard menu. Didn't offer coffee had to ask for it. Twice. Didn't ask or explain their rewards program again saw another server explaining it to a nearby table. Seemed annoyed when we asked about it. But the food was very good with a nice selection. But "steak" is metered out by paper thin slices by the server ......2 slices at a time. If you ask for more he acts like it's coming out of his paycheck. Same with the crab legs. 1 piece at a time. So you spend a lot of time walking back and forth to the buffet table. But well worth the cost and a beautiful restaurant.

Was here for a wedding and reception. They did a AMAZING job. I was never at such a FANTASTIC reception. Best bar none, by far the absolute best wedding reception I ever attended. Before the dinner was the cocktail and hors d'oeuvres hope I spelled that right, what a spread! I have never seen such a variety and as much as they had. And it just kept coming. When something when done/ empty they were on top of replacing it. The quality Superior, everybody was raving with how delicious everything was. And it wasn't just help yourself, they had at least six Waiters and waitresses walking around with other hors d'oeuvres White Glove service all the way around. The main course once again outstanding top quality fabulous food. And once again the waiters and waitresses we're on the ball, can't say enough about the staff true professionals. Between friends and family we're about 130 strong, everybody agreed on the service and the food and the atmosphere, heard not one complaint about anything! If the restaurant is anything like the reception I highly highly recommend the William Penn Inn. Looking forward to going back and trying the restaurant, and picking up some gift certificates.

Always a great meal. If you get a good waitress/waiter in the Monet room you are in for a great experience. The prices are good and food portions are very nice. Warm basket of rolls and bread brought to the table with whipped butter. Dessert options and cocktail s offered separately at additional cost. We opted to share a dessert and weren't disappointed. This restaurant is a real treat. I and 7 family members had lunch on Saturday to celebrate my sister's birthday and the entire event was lovely. The menu was delicious, varied and reasonable. Our wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The over 300 year old venue is beautiful and comfortable. Being long time local residents, we left saying we'd be returning more often. And, my sister very much enjoyed her special day.

Have lived here and passed this place tons of times but have never tried. We sat in the tavern. Was ok, not great. I had scallops which were pretty chewy but my partner had the lamb and said it was good. Service was not bad although everyone but our waitress had served us. Would have been 3 stars if not for the attentiveness of everyone else.

The William Penn Inn is a fantastic, upscale dining venue. My wife and I decided to return to the William Penn Inn for our anniversary (We had our wedding and reception there years ago). The menu is quite extensive, and the atmosphere is cozy, yet elegant. The food is exceptionally delicious, and the staff is courteous. On the evening we dined at the restaurant, a pianist was playing jazz music, which was a nice touch to our overall experience. This restaurant is a great choice if you are looking for a restaurant with high quality food and historic charm.

We had our wedding here. It was wonderful. The wedding coordinator that they provided was so helpful and took care of a lot of the details so we could just enjoy our day. Also, because they have a florist on site and do the catering and supply linens, tables, chairs, etc. it made the planning process so much more streamlined. The guests enjoyed the food. In particular, almost everyone who got the vegan/vegetarian/kosher option mentioned how good it was. It is certainly not the cheapest place to do a wedding, but I feel we got a wonderful value. I don't believe we could have had as nice and as large of a wedding for cheaper.

My wife and I would have gone here for our 48th anniversary anyway but the 20% discount made it even better. We both had French Onion Soup and Prime Rib that was done exactly as ordered and probably the best Prime Rib i have ever had. We have gone here many times and have never been disappointed.

The food is always amazing. Had my two year anniversary yesterday took the wife out for dinner. Eh I mean like I said the food is always amazing and I get it has been open for a long time but my 3 stars are for food quality and good service. I just don't see myself nor can I a give a five star review. It isn't like what all the hype is about. But nonetheless good time.

We got married at William Penn Inn last weekend and it was fantastic. The staff made the whole process seamless from when we booked the venue in January until the wedding in July. They were prompt on responding to questions and they have so many weddings there, they have it down to a science. While we were in the planning process, our wedding coordinator needed to switch us to another coordinator and it was very easy and no detail was lost in the transition. The day of the wedding, they were great at organizing everything, but also staying "behind the scenes". The wait staff/bartenders/coordinators were all great. Also, the food is fantastic. The guests were raving about the beautiful venue and how the food was delicious! They truly know how to throw a fun party, and I'd recommend them to any of my friends or family! The William Penn Inn Floral Shoppe is also a great addition to the services they offer at William Penn Inn. It's an in-house florist who is fantastic! Kate really listens to what you want and after showing her a few photos from Pinterest, she made up a mock bouquet and centerpiece to show what she had envisioned for the day. I gave a little feedback for a few different flowers and on the wedding day, the flowers were perfect. She was a true professional and knows how to work with people who have an idea and turn it into a reality. She was always super responsive and updated the contract whenever I made changes so I could see how adding 4 flower girls' baskets changed the total amount due :) So grateful for Kate and everything she did. I highly recommend using William Penn Inn Floral Shoppe if you are getting married at WPI or even another venue. She's fantastic!
