Visited with a group for restaurant week. Of all the participating locations, Twisted Tail was one of the only ones to offer 4 courses as part of the deal. As the waiter said “it’s a great way to get people in, to get them to come back”, and I would certainly return to try what I couldn’t this time. Our server was great and checked on us often, her manager checked several times as well, and the food and drinks were excellent.

Literally everything was delicious. I had the Velvet Slippers cocktail, which was extremely unique. We split the cheese plate (which was a huge selection, we just took the waitress' recommendation), as well as the smoked wings. For my entree i had the gnocchi. I will absolutely be back here, i don't think we could have chosen a better restaurant in this area.

So good. We enjoyed everything we got. The shrimp and grits entree was a hit, as was the steak. We also ordered mussels. They were delicious, and they come with the best crusty bread. For dessert, we got the beignets and the apple cake. Both were delicious, and i believe one came with brown butter ice cream. I'll be back.

It's great if you love cheese and a kinda vintage ambience. Also if you like Seasoned food, don't eat here. Also don't go on Sunday for brunch, they didn't have half of the things I initially ordered for some odd reason.

Twisted Tail is a small place on 2nd & South, the Drinks were pretty good and the bartender warmed up to us after our second round of Margaritas, but the big secret here is the FOOD, everything is delicious. We had the Pastrami on rye, the Crabcake and ribs, the meat just fell off the bone...

The twisted tail is hands down the best place to try whiskey in Philadelphia. They have so many different kinds and the bar staff makes me feel right at home. For dinner, it’s a bit expensive but the food is delicious! Try their mac and cheese or the tuna. They are amazing! Come on the weekends at night for live music and dancing.

Me and the wife first went to Paddy Whacks up the street from Twisted Tail. The worst experience we ever had, dirty tables and server that just didn't care about our issues and never cleaned the table for us. We went to Twisted Tail for a drink and was pleasantly surprised. The barkeeper, Justin I believe, was great and very helpful with the questions we had regarding Twisted Tail and what they had to offer. The place was also very clean. We will come back for sure for dinner, drinks and music! We were there on 02/17/19 around 3 pm. I will recommend Twisted Tail to everyone is see!!

This is one of the best happy hour restaurants that the hubby and I frequent! We love the dark stylish interior, the exceptional service, and the great prices!!! Craft beer on tap is $3, and most of the happy hour appetizers are $4, $5 or $6. We had the cheese curds (my favorite thing ever), the hot dog (great flavor but a bit too much bun) the fried crab bites (this tasted good with the cheese curd dipping sauce, but alone it was just okay), and the chicken sandwich (mmmelty cheese and tasted great but it needed some condiments). We love love LOVE hanging out here and we will keep coming because we LOVE it so much!!! I am excited to have dinner here sometime since we've only come for happy hour!

An ok place. Sat at the bar and did NOT feel welcome at all. Bartenders appeared to be a little snooty. They were not engaging at all and offered very little conversation. In addition, The bartenders didn’t not offer any suggestions about the menu items when asked. The play is nicely decorated and seems upscale. Unfortunately, the staff does not know how to treat the patrons and Do NOT make them feel welcomed & valued. Just felt like cattle hearded through a restaurant and hurried up. There is no parking associated with this location. There is a Metered parking lot in front. Please be careful when parking your car because the Philadelphia parking authority uses that lot as a training lot for the new traffic police. Also, this place has an upstairs bar as well. This is where the music happens. Was not impressed with the place. Would not go back. There are other places that are much better than this to spend your hard earned money at.

Cool space. Not too big not too small. One Central u shaped / Square bar area with restaurant seating around it. We were visiting from out of town and Googled it and stopped in for drinks only. Bartenders were friendly and attentive and give you a little bowl of popcorn. Drinks were well-made. They were balanced and delicious. As we didn't eat, I can't speak to the food. But we will definitely be back next time we're in Philly for cocktails.

Came here for the tail end of restaurant week 2018, and the special menu was a great deal. Our server was fantastic and engaging (and had great recommendations). The cauliflower flatbread doesn't sound impressive but honestly might be the best thing on the menu. Just trust me.

I have a mixed review of the restaurant. They seated us late even though we had reservation (difficulty finding our reservation as well even though they called that morning to confirm and ask if any dietary restrictions which apparently weren't passed along any where). Once seated we got our first round of food quickly. There was a lag in which we followed up to see why the wait and waiter indicated kitchen was backed up. An hour later waiter came back to apologize and say our ticket had dropped down and kitchen only just found it. Told our desserts would be comped but when we got the bill it was still included so had to have manager come to table. Food depending on what you got was either yummy (ribs, shrimp and grits) or just okay/not good (mac and cheese was watery and sea bass was overwhelmed with pesto). Drinks were good however. Just one thing after another happened unfortunately ... perhaps just an off night....

Made a Saturday night reservation for my birthday dinner for 6 people. Had to add two more people later on, which was not a problem for the staff. Our server, Rebecca, was great - very welcoming, knowledgeable of the menu, helpful, and prompt. Food was fantastic. Highly recommend!

Interesting place to grab a beer, try some ham or eat a selection of cheese. They have 4 different types of ham and about 15 types of cheese to choose from. A varied selection of other foods. Everything we ordered was very tasty. I could easily tell the high quality of the food. I did not have desert. However, they have a unique selection of deserts. I can definitely see myself coming here just for desert. Located in an up-and-coming area of Philly with a nice amount if parking in front.

There were 4 of us. We decided to get the chefs tasting. The plates were soo small. We ordered the kale salad, smoked wings, crab cakes, mac n cheese and the short ribs. We were told the food would come family style. The salad and wings were good. They brought us 2 crab cakes to share between 4 ppl, next course was 2 short ribs to share and a single serving of mac n cheese. It was tasty but not enough for 4 people. The drinks were delicious tho.

I went here as part of the restaurant week event in center city. The food was flavorful and plentiful. The service was great and we were never left wanting. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because of all the dishes we had, 2 of them weren't that great. I highly recommend it for anyone who's looking to try something new. I will be returning again, but will be more careful about the dishes I will try.

Place is top shelf across the board. Excellent ribs. Excellent atmosphere. They have pictures of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Janis Joplin And Otis Redding on the walls. Also have a wide selection of Whiskies, beer and wine. I got the Kentucky Bourbon Stout which was amazing,had to get two. Right off of South Street.

I came over here with some friends while I was in town for work. The food was pretty amazing. The oysters were probably some of the best oysters I've ever had. The in house made mustard I wish they would just package so I could eat it every day. The texture of the Spanish octopus was perfect. It was as if it had two different textures which was very interesting. My main course was the wagyu tartare. I would recommend that to anybody even if they've never really had that kind of a dish. The duck cassoulet was completely different for me. But it was very homey and Rich. Perfect for the cold weather. Definitely a place that I'm going to keep coming back to when I visit one of my favorite cities to work in.

The food is good, really enjoyed the appetizers, particularly the smoked wings. Drinks were great, they make a great sazerac which if you haven't tried yet you should. Entrees were okay, my steak could've used more salt and my date's pork chop was more warm than hot. These are nit picks and I probably would've given it five stars anyway if not for the furniture. I was sitting on a stool that was basically a box and my rear end was asleep by the end of the meal. There were tables with chairs that I probably should've just asked to be moved to. I don't get why places do stuff like this and I'm not sure who that appeals to, but I'm not a fan

I really don’t want to toot my own horn, but I’ve eaten in some of the best restaurants around the world. I’m not a snob and I appreciate good food whether it is in a fine dining setting or not. But I do have to say that my meal here was amazing. Not just because the food was superb, but mainly because our waitress, Stephanie, was so gregarious and congenial that it made me have a better outlook on life after my meal. It had to be at the perfect intersection between kindness and professionalism.

Fun and funky spot with a great vibe. Downstairs is your more traditional setup with tables for dining and a bar in the back offering a fantastic whiskey selection. Upstairs is a more eclectic spot with a long bar and live music in one room and a lounge area with darts and shuffle board in the other room. Come for the Bourbon, Beer, Burger special (or any of their other delicious offerings) and stay for the whiskey and love music. They also sometimes offer free whiskey tastings in the summer months.

Great bar. They had some really good specials. $15 for a shot of bourbon, a shot of scotch, and a beer, pretty good quality also. We tried to get some food, but the waitress told us we couldn't order until midnight, which was weird. That's the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars. But other than that, I recommend this place. It had a good atmosphere and good drinks.

Today is 2/2/19 and my husband and I, were on our way to get Philadelphia’s infamous Cheesesteak sandwich. I requested my husband to pull over so I could use the restroom since I’m (expecting) and have to go basically all the time. First I went to Wawa across the street which was a very big mistake. I shuffled across the to the Twisted Tail and told the Hostess my dilemma. Never ever had I witnessed such poise, grace, and hospitality from any host staff! Especially, since I had worked in the hospitality industry in NYC for many years. Unfortunately, as I was leaving she was on the phone. So I thought the best way to thank her is via review.I hope her bosses or even the owner of this great establishment will see this review and praise her for superb customer service. She literally made my day! Thank you so so so much !!!!!

This used to be our favorite dinner getaway, as it had an excellent take on southern food, wonderful whiskeys and mixed drinks, and exsquisite service. Since 2014 we came here for special occasions, and would bring family and friends because we loved it so much. Things changed with the head chef in 2015, and it became a more Asian fusion place, but our reticence was dismissed with the delicious foods, and same amazing customer service and vibe. We’ve since left Philly in 2015, and just returned for a visit now in 2018. We brought old friends, telling them it was awesome, which was sadly no longer true. I made a reservation the day prior, and the phone interaction was phenomenal (they had my name on file, was welcoming, and were thoughtful to ask if anyone had dietary restrictions). I was excited. Then we arrive, and we are brought upstairs into the loud bar/music area. I’ve never been seated upstairs, and it was incredibly loud. Note, that this was just the bar scene, and 30 min after we are seated the live music starts. It’s even louder, to the point where we can’t talk over the music, regardless of the fact that we are seated at the opposite side of the building as the live music. The menu also changed again... once southern, then southern-Asian fusion, to some non-descript tapas place that still was retained its mostly meat-oriented theme. The loudness made interaction with the waitress banal as well; I appreciate a fun interaction, and this was rendered impossible. I’m sorry to see this amazing place change so much. It used to be a much more comfortable environment. I’ve had beautiful and engaging conversations with friends and family, in the company of delicious food and a homey environment. This experience has been degraded, where I cannot safely assume that I want to return. I understand now that if I were to reconsider this establishment, that I’ll need to specifically request the lower level, or wherever the music is absent. Alas, the flux and inconsistencies of this restaurant over the past 4 years will not allow me to make a sincere recommendation. If you’re a fan of very loud music and lack of conversation, or inconsistencies in the theme or the delicacy, you’re in luck! All I can say is don’t expect the aspects you love the most to last.

A group of 5 of us stopped at The Twisted Tail for dinner. They seated us at a table inside and proceeded to tell us that their food is served "family style." However, while reading over the menu, we see sandwiches being served on their patio. When asked about this, the waitress told us that the patio and the bar get different menu's than tables in the restaurant. We asked if we could just order off that menu, but she said she had to ask her manager since we weren't specifically seated at the bar (only a few feet a way) or on their patio. The manager came out and rudely asked what the problem was. We explained we just would like to see the bar menu instead, but she proceeded to tell us that that isn't how they serve food since we were at a table and not the bar or patio and then she walked away. We got up and left. If we wanted family style we would have gotten a bucket from KFC. But honestly, they didn't need to be rude and shouldn't have different menu's for their patio and bar and their tables given they are all within a 30ft radius. I would not recommend The Twisted Tail. There are better and more accommodating restaurants in the area with much more respectful staff.

We went there for restaurant week and pretty much everything my girlfriend and I ordered was delicious. Service was not so great but they didn't look well prepared with enough staff, especially for restaurant week. But still, highly recommended! Starters: crawfish mac and cheese, swordfish skewers, wagyu beef tartare (and one more I can't remember) Main course: pork chop and hanger steak Dessert: beignets and chocolate panna cotta PS get the beignets for dessert.

This place was amazing. Could have stayed there for hours. More than 100 whiskeys, good beer and wine list as well. Food was fantastic and they have live music most nights. Good outdoor seating when it's warm enough. Will go again next time I'm in Philly.

The ambience was nice. Customer service were attentive. Unfortunately the menu were not ideal, didn't have many options to chose, nor even appetizers. Server suggested a plate, got a stomach virus.

My babe and I took my sister here for her birthday in May of this year and we really liked it, it was a cute little spot. Has an upstairs and a downstairs. The downstairs bar area was pretty dimly lit, and it was nice sized, pretty spacious, but we went upstairs where there was a very cool live jazz band and a seated area where we served THEE BEST SHRIMP AND GRITS I'VE EVER TASTED!!!!. I shall return very soon...fin.

I went to see a jazz band. It was nice. There was no pressure to buy anything I was able to live to music in peace. It's a restaurant and bar as well. There is two bars. One downstairs and one upstairs.

I've been here a few times now and it's a great place. Great drinks, music, and atmosphere. Along with that, our bartender, Shane, was exceptional. Attentive, friendly and very quick to get our drinks. However, towards the end of the night, we told a female bartender we wanted to close our tab and deliberately stated we'd be splitting the bill. She said okay and that she'd need the second card. She never came back for the card and instead charged it all to the first one. No apology or even concern that's not what we asked her to do. We asked if there was anything she could do to fix it and gave us a very flat yes, but ended up never coming back to us. Realistically, this wasn't a problem, but the way she handled it (and the fact she didn't seem to care) put a little bit of a damper on the great night we were having. Not one of my best experiences here, but overall it's a nice place.

Fantastic two-story bar with live music on the weekends, a dart board and shuffle board. Beer selection is generally on point, and their cocktail game is strong.

Great food, so many options. The chicken and short ribs are so tender. The are tons of drinks options and our server Shawn recommended several things off the menu. The lighting was low and there was a guitarist after 8 on a Thursday. We had a very romantic time.
