Was really impressed with the Sunday Brunch! Was there for a football weekend and they told me this is every Sunday. Besides an expected omelette station, there was a carving table and roast lamb, chicken and veggies. The seafood table with smoked salmon, poached salmon, and a black cavier plate was impressive. The dessert table was topped off with Penn State creamery ice cream! If I'm in town on a Sunday I plan on coming back here for Sunday Brunch, even if I'm not staying at the Penn Stater Hotel! Staff was friendly and had a positive attitude even though the beloved Nittany Lions had dropped a heartbreaker late the previous evening.

Eeee... if you expect this restaurant to be an upscale place to celebrate anniversaries or parties, it is not. We made a reservation to celebrate our anniversary as we traditionally go to the Carnegie restaurant (it is being remodeled ), and I was disappointed from the moment I entered the room. It is a restaurant-cafeteria type, with all simple tables for four, agglutinated among them in front of a buffet that it’s closed. The waitress was sassy and kind of making faces... I was even wondering why does she bother to come and ask if we are enjoying the food? She was rolling her eyes and stuff. Now, the good thing about the Gardens is definitely the food. Their baked brie is out of the ordinary and the meat had good flavor. I wish the Cesar salad is served with aged parmesan rather than kraft powdery parmesan.

Went for the dinner buffet because I had a buy one get one free offer through my WPSU membership. Absolutely everything was outstanding, from the cheese course to the salads and appetizers, to pasta so rich you could make a meal of that alone and steal so tender it cut with a butter knife, to an array of amazing desserts. The price is a little steep for day to day, but it's so good I'd suggest it in an instant for a special occasion.

Service was excellent. Food was not. We were there for breakfast. I ordered eggs Benedict. The yolks were rock hard. The potatoes on the breakfast buffet and with my eggs Benedict were mushy not crispy. Very disappointed. Not a great way to begin the morning of a 3 hour drive home.

The service was lackluster and confused (asking for order multiple times before finally giving us a menu), the food was mediocre on average with my order having undercooked chicken with blood inside. When I raised the issue they did not even apologize. They surely billed us 18% extra tip for a larger party even though they were not even able to sit 15 people at joint tables in an empty restaurant.

The standard by which I rate all other brunch buffets around the country--and very few have equaled the Penn Stater. There's plenty of food, and a wide variety of it, but quantity alone does not make for a good brunch. The food at the Gardens is delicious, freshly-prepared, and in some cases, locally-sourced (Irving's bagels, Tait Farm spreads and Penn State Creamery cream cheese and ice cream, for a few examples). You can try some higher-end foods (caviar!) and enjoy some pricey treats (mimosas) along with all the delicious entrees, sides, salads, breads, desserts (my favorite--bread pudding) . . . and all of this comes at a very reasonable price. Sometimes there's live music too! It can be busy, so do what we do--arrive around 1 PM. There will be plenty of time to leisurely enjoy your meal. Pace yourself. And if you go home hungry, you did something wrong.

(Translated by Google) PSU of the restaurant. Maybe, but I have been made to the guest-friendly, normal can also be used in the general customers. Then, eat fairly good food at reasonable. The Penn Stater Burger is very delicious. (Original) PSUのレストラン。たぶん、ゲスト向けに作られているのだけど、一般客でも普通に使える。そして、リーズナブルでかなりおいしい料理がたべられる。The Penn Stater Burger はとてもおいしい。

The food is as bad as the football team. The students, especially the females, are pretty heavy including the cheerleaders. Wouldn’t recommend these rude folks for anything. Typical backwoods PA folk.

My wife and I had family visiting from Germany and Pittsburgh and we decided to take them to the Sunday Brunch in The Gardens. everything was PERFECT! Excellent selections, fresh food, outstanding service. The smoked salmon & caviar are worth the price itself! I can't think of a more outstanding value in State College. And did I mention the very good Jazz Trio providing a nice musical backdrop?

Always a good place for fine dining

Great Sunday brunch!

Great dining experience. Quality, "fancy" food (lobster stuffed flounder, black caviar, smoked salmon, lamb leg, etc) at an affordable price and a nice quite setting. Highly recommend!
