We ate at Say Cheese for the first time today. It was horrible. I got the combo, French onion soup and half a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich. The soup had burnt onion bits piled on top of it and almost no cheese to speak of. The burnt onions sat in the soup and turned it bitter. The bacon on the sandwich was Canadian bacon which is fine except it wasn’t cooked. It was cooked enough to eat but the fat was rubbery and you couldn’t even bite into it. The cheese they used was shredded (again, no issue there) but it also wasn’t melted. Why a place called Say Cheese can’t get cheese right in two separate dishes on one plate is a mystery. We won’t be going back.

I stopped here out of a whim and was very happy I did. Great food and prompt service. Waitress was a little busy and not as chatty but I understood as the place was very full. She has a job to do. I will be returning.

The restaurant is beautiful and classically decorated, there is also an outdoor dining option. They have a new menu and it is fantastic! I'm not sure why this restaurant is labeled $$ because the prices are very low. The quality of food for the listed price is a steal. If you are in West Reading, do yourself a favor and visit Say Cheese!

Many different cheeses to try and buy. Has a small store with several cheeses and some specialty products like coffee pots. Restaurant serves many different cheese items. Not dairy free but will try to accommodate vegans.

We were walking by on a Sunday after church and decided to give Say Cheese a try. I had the mac and cheese and it was very good. My boyfriend had a breakfast combo and I tried a few bites and it was tasty. We were seated fairly quickly. The service was adequate and prices were reasonable. We would come back again

We'll start with the restaurant. The menu makes me mouth water, and the food backs it up. If you are lactose intolerant but don't mind torturing yourself... still bring some lactaide because there is so much cheese. The prices are reasonable, I've spent more at a chain restaurant. The market, has very good quality products. Oils, vingrets, aoli, honey...and cheese.

Everything was DELICIOUS -- definitely going to visit again. Our party shared the appetizer trio (fried pickles, sweet potato fries and toasted brie) for a starter. For entrees we chose the ricotta stuffed French toast as well as the smoked salmon mac-n-cheese. All very good, and our drinks were well-mixed also. Service was a bit indifferent, but then again... Isn't that the way of things now? Overall the ambience was comfortable (tables not too crowded, space not too noisy) and we enjoyed browsing the gourmet shop on our way out. Highly recommended.

Very yummy gourmet comfort food. And I love that they offer combination plates, I got a cup of French onion soup and 1/2 a grilled cheese sandwich. It was delicious, but a little overwhelming. It's very rich food. The grocery area is cute, but a little overpriced. They had one brand of sausage that they were selling for twice what we paid for it elsewhere.

This was our first visit but certainly will not be the last. We visited for Sunday brunch with a group of 4. Service was fantastic, prompt, cheerful and competent. The food was fresh, flavorful and properly prepared. I had their cheeseburger and for once, it was cooked to my chosen temperature the first time. My husband had the Pumpkin Brussel salad and said it was incredibly tasty and creative. The French Dip sandwich and the Veggie Raclette and Brie omelet were the other choices at the table, both fresh, flavorful and well prepared. We had desserts but were not overly enamoured of them. My choice was the Tiramisu which was sort of deconstructed and served in a brandy snifter. It was pretty dry (didn't taste any espresso, don't even think anything was soaked...) and not very sweet. Someone else had the pink champagne cake and it was also dry. I think next time we will skip dessert.

Loved It! The renovated building is a unique and quaint setting for dining. We sat in the side "window" area where we could enjoy the beautiful day and watch the world outdoors while remaining bug free and in air conditioning. And the food...the specialty that day was a basil, tomato, macaroni & cheese with balsamic drizzle. Incredible and portioned that I enjoyed it the next day as well. Priced appropriately, I can't wait to return.

Say Cheese is the true gem of the Reading food scene. There isn't a single misstep on the menu, the setting is cute and cozy without too much kitsche, and they offer wine flights: yeah, wine flights! Strongly recommend the Mac n cheese, a simple dish that they've knocked out of the park.

Selection is smaller than expected for a cheese shop that has quite a bit of space. But they seem very intentional about their selections, whether it's cheese, spice, oil, or stuff in their menu. The food is good and prices are okay. Just don't expect a plethora of choices here

We have been meaning to try this place for months, and it finally happened. It was even better than expected! The Spiralized Frickles were light and delicious! The Lamb burger was so flavorful. The special of the day was a breakfast tostada. The presentation was fantastic and the avocado and sour cream was fantastic. Definitely recommend! Updated: The outdoor seating is dog friendly and Bear approved. Bear gives it 5 paws.

Such an amazing atmosphere for a nice dinner or some appetizers. Great selection of everything with friendly staff. All of the food is of the highest quality. I especially recommend the fried Brie. It’s such a nice environment with the lighting and the pulley system of fans, plus a lot of local foods and drinks like all of the reading brewery sodas.

My family and I have been eating at Say Cheese ever since we moved to the area but unfortunately will no longer be customers after our last two visits. The first incident, the employee behind the cheese counter was very rude to us when we dropped in to buy some cheese, however another friendly employee then stepped in for him and we just chalked it up to a bad day. Most recently, my wife and I ordered take-out and she ordered the chicken and fig sandwich, which is usually one of her favorites here. It wasn’t a cheap sandwich, considering she ordered it on gluten-free bread which is an upcharge. When we got back home, we discovered it was missing 2 of the components on it (one was the mascarpone cheese, which is funny considering the name of the establishment) and it tasted very bland and dry. She couldn’t even finish eating it and we live about 30 minutes away so it wasn’t worth it to drive back to fix her order. The meal was definitely not worth the price we paid. She called the restaurant to find out why it was missing half of the ingredients it was supposed to include and they offered us a gift card for the mistake, which was very kind of them. We gave them our address and considered the situation rectified with good customer service. However, unfortunately the gift card never arrived so we are not sure if it was just offered to appease us while we were on the phone and then forgotten about. From reading some other reviews, it seems that this type of thing has happened to others as well so make sure you double check your pick-up order before leaving the restaurant. We will truly miss going there as we have always enjoyed their food!

More than just cheese! Attended a small company lunch here. Very nice modern, bistro syle restaurant. Had the "fish burger" which was out of this world! Tons of flavor, and a significant portion for the price. Looking forward to going back again soon for dinner!

Very unique place and style. It has everything and anything cheese related to cheese and even a cheese market. Anything on the menu sounds delicious ,but for dessert I recommend the Lucky Charms cheesecake. I recommend this place to cheese lovers!

The selection here may not be as broad as some places but what the menu lacks in variety it certainly makes up for in flavor, creativity and style. The smoked salmon Mac & cheese was mind blowing and the decor was delightful. The staff made us feel as we were home amongst friends. If you ever find yourself hungry in Reading, PA I strongly suggest you give Say Cheese! a try.

A very nice restaurant with interesting, good food! The only downside is that our waitress was obviously paying more attention to other customers who were purchasing alcohol/more expensive food (probably so she could get a bigger tip). Our food sat in the window for a while and was lukewarm when we received it. However, it was still very good. All-in-all, good food, but the service needs work!

I love love LOVE this place! Their lollipop lamb is delicious and it melts in your mouth when you eat it. Their cheese and meat trays are amazing and has so many small snacks and flavors to go with. Only complaint is they are a little over priced in my opinion for the small amount you get.

This place is spectacular! The food, the atmosphere, Zoey, our waitress, EVERYTHING! Unique flavor combinations that dance on your tongue. Comfortable, casual dining areas that made me feel like I was at home. Zoey was knowledgeable about the menu and dishes recently added. I have to say Zoey is one of kind, too. She was perfect. Several times throughout our stay, she made eye contact with me from across the room to make sure we were good. If you go, see if she can be your waitress. On top of the food, atmosphere, and of course, Zoey, they have a little store in the middle of the restaurant, (think this is where the atmosphere of "home" comes into play for me) that I purchased some red raspberry butter. Excited to try that. Definitely worth the aggravation of finding a parking space.

I had a Brussel Sprout Caesar Salad(see picture). It was beautifully served and incredibly delicious. The Cheese case had a wide selection and I walked away with an Irish Guinness Cheddar. There is so much to see whether salads, entrees, cheeses and an assortment of crackers, chocolates and more. Looking forward to returning for dinner. Counter and table service were exceptional.

Had dinner on 12/15/18 not good at all the star of the plate was te Brussels sprouts and parsnip purée the red snapper was so small it was rediculas. I will say the salad was great and also the cheese cake. My wife’s rare prime rib was well done.I guess everyone has a bad day even chefs. Didn’t see the owner like all the other times when I’ve been there. Oh well back to the drawing board.

Listing claims the market restaurant is open on Wednesday until 10pm, but I’m sitting in front of this closed venue at 6:30pm on Wednesday, Aug 22. Disappointing since Google matched me to enjoy eating here as I’m traveling through for the one night. UPDATE: Apparently there was a power outage in the area and a couple businesses closed. My guess is this is what happened here, but I wish a sign in the window or other notice was available. Many other businesses were open, so it was very confusing.

The presentation was on slate inscribed with what cheese selections are present with fresh fruit preserves and honey OMG so delicious. wine was good too and the fare menu looks fire as well!

We came to this restaurant for a late lunch while traveling through Reading. The service was prompt and friendly. I had a fantastic salad (I think it was Harvest Salad) with cubed squash, frisee, a dab of pumpkin goat cheese, and other delicious things. I would definitely stop here next time I am in Reading.

Consistently good food & service everytime I go there. Seasonal specials & creative dishes keep it interesting. Just an FYI,.the veggie burger is like mush so its impossible to eat like a sandwich. Its flavorful, but expect to eat it with a fork open face style. Decor is nice & the shop inside sells gourmet jams & fun kitchen gadgets.

Great place for a date! (Or if you're like my mom and I, a Mother/Daughter day!) Everything involves cheese! (Except for the drinks, don't worry). A make your own cheese plater is a great choice and they even bring it to you on a stone slab! Outdoor eating (weather permitting) is a great choice and ANIMAL LOVERS ATTENTION PLEASE! Outside they have bowls of water for pets! So you can be walking your dog, sit down for lunch outside, and have them enjoy the stop with you!

I've had better boxed Mac n cheese. Service was fast and efficient. Doesn't seem family friendly though as they offer no change station in either restroom. Would probably visit again as last resort or with a group outing

Service was great, food was good. If someone suggests to go here, I would not complain but I wouldn't seek it out. I had the Saycheeseburger and my wife had the brisket. Both were good and I would order again, just not anything over the top wonderful and that's ok.
