Went for lunch, looking for something other than fast food. Will not go back. Friendly enough staff is the best I can say about this place. Ordered with a coworker, we both got fries and a cheese steak. They take orders and deliver to the greasy table of your choosing. Fries came out quick, then waited another 15 minutes for the sandwiches... nothing special after the wait. Not busy at the time either, no apology or explanation given.

Best. Pittsburgh. Eatery. Ever! Go here. I have been coming to this place since I was a kid. If you want consistently delicious food, go to this Peppi's. Better than any Primanti's (the Strip one comes mighty close). If you ever have the opportunity to sit in the outside seating area, try it. You get to hear the sounds of North Shore on a nice day and eat great food with even better service. Love this place!

Absolute disgrace! These guys don't care about how they put their product out.. especially on to- go orders..Got a bag of cheese fries..Cheese thrown on the bottom wide open..Ketchup and busted open salt packets everywhere..Also hoagies were wrong,and just thrown together sloppy ...called the and talked to the so called owner..The guy had nothing but excuses...These guys obviously have piss poor attitudes and could care less what they are putting out their..Will never go back! If you want piss poor customer service,from employees who just throw stuff together,then by all means,go ahead...this place is pathetic! I don't even think they know the words customer service...DISGRACE!

Lived in Pittsburgh my whole life. First time I went on Saturday 5/20 just before a 705 pirate game. Bread was still fresh. Service was fast. Employees were friendly. I had the New York cheese steak. It was so good. I will be back.

I don’t eat in an establishment that does not allow me to pay using my bank card. I stopped in last night and ordered a cheesesteak and fries and was told they only except cash. Well sorry I don’t carry cash. Everyone accepts debit cards in the area. The person said, we do have a atm machine right there. Well it was not a recognized machine. I heard stories that those types of machines are not secure. Your account will be hacked. So I walked out.

What a fun spot, a Pittsburgh north side classic. Amazing sandwich (I might just be in love with the Cathedral), lots of interesting memorabilia and the casual welcoming employees made this an all around great experience.

Peppi's is a Pittsburgh institution. I have only ever had the steak and cheese, for the decades that I have been frequenting the establishment. With that being said, this is one of my all time favorite steak subs. Also, the fries are magic. If you are on the North side, and are looking for a filling bite, look no further. Oh yeah, the guys behind the counter kill it, don't forget to tip them.

I've had their Philly steak and it was great. Bread wasn't soggy, the meat wasn't overcooked and the vegetables tasted fresh. My only gripe with the place is that it is cash only. They do have an ATM on site.

Smaller than average meat portion, gristle in every bite, frys were 90% about 1/2” long crumbs. Flavor was there without any of the enjoyment. One of the workers rides a motorcycle, he was coughing all the time, even at the grille. I get needing to work but that’s just wrong. Smaller issue- they don’t take cash but they have an atm that charges $2 Wouldn’t go back.

Always amazingly busy there. Perhaps a ten minute wait for your sandwich to be ready. Walls lined with photos of mostly hometown celebrities who have been served over the years. On street, metered parking available. Careful, if you have to cross busy Western Avenue! I usually get the cheese steak, but the Rachel is also very good. Always a beehive of activity there. An institution.

I have eaten at Peppi's many times I have never had a bad sandwich yet. I stopped in with one of my son's today we both got big wheelers one of my favorites my son on the other hand it was his first time. Well he left nothing behind 13 years old and wiped out the whole sandwich and so did I. The French fries are fresh cut can't complain about them also. Give the place a try not fancy by any means but we'll worth the trip.

Hands down this is one of the most underrated restaurants in all of Pittsburgh. Visit here before any home Steelers game and the place is always so busy that it's "standing room only" which is fine because you can take your food to go and eat at the stadium. There's nothing special or gimmicky about their sandwiches, they're just delicious. They're very inexpensive & large enough that you can probably eat one sandwich for two meals. I recommend all of the "Hall of Fame" sandwiches, but I usually go for a "Big Wheeler", "The New Yorker", "The 7", "The Phantom", or a "Blazing Saddles". Their Cajun fries are also my favorite fries from any restaurant. The place also has a great atmosphere and an incredibly friendly staff. Really the only downside is they don't serve beer & it's cash only.

Sandwiches were AMAZING! Fries were great. Not a lot of seating and a little hard to get around. Mainly wheelchair accessible but, tight fit and there is a ramp to go from where you order to some of the seating area. Over all tho we had a good lunch!

A Pittsburgh classic! The beef in my sub was hot and fresh, and the grilled onions and mayo went perfectly with it. It's just a ten minute walk west from the National Aviary and a ten minute walk north from Heinz Field. Be warned, though, they only take cash, but there's an ATM in the restaurant you can use.
