Very good Indian food, BYOB, good service, good location. Paying cash is a practical option because they offer a small discount. I have been there a number of times and always enjoyed it. The name is certainly not very imaginative! Recommended.
Accurate name for an Indian restaurant.
Nice and layed back
Nicer than nice people.. food very good.. lunch special GREAT value

Best Indian restaurant Enid and I have been so far. Food was delicious and the waiter was polite, friendly and helpful in selecting our dishes.
Good food, BYOB, always tables available
طعم لذيذ ونظيف أكلهم حلال Halal and delicious taste
great food
Loved it. The food was great and the server was incredibly friendly and helpful.
One of my favorite Indian places
Horrible place! Used the "order online" option on their own website and it said food will be delivered in an hour. I just live 3 blocks away so an hour was a long time but I understand things can get busy. I wait for over an hour, don't get anything. I call the restaurant, the guy couldn't find my order in the first place. Finally, he found it and said it will take an additional hour. I clarified to him that it has already been an hour so he replied he couldn't assure me when it will.be delivered - "We have too many delivery orders!". Being plain rude. I asked him if he could do a little earlier than an hour, so he said he is cancelling the order and hung up! Way to go professionalism! The place is always dark, dingy and looks old. Avoid at all cost!
Love this restaurant. So good and so close to home. The quality of the food is top notch and always tasty. They did get my order wrong once, but it was still delicious. So i didn't mind. I highly recommend. They deliver too.
Good food, good prices, fast delivery, kind staff
The food was so good and authentic. The service was very friendly and very quick. The place is byob but no bottle fees or anything like that. It's a great place for sit in or take out and we'll definitely be back!
Had garlic naan and chicken tikka masala. The masala was delightfully creamy and delicious. Great place for a no frills dining experience, just enough service to be taken care of well and not interrupt our group’s conversations. Will be back!
Haven't been to this place in a while and I'm not sure why. This is a real nice sit down restaurant with amazing traditional dishes. White tablecloths and fabric napkins. This doesn't mean it's over priced either. They have a lunch special menu to boot! The servers are very friendly and accommodating. Now it's back on my radar i plan to visit more often. You definitely need to check this place out!
excellent food only indian food we will order in philadelphia
Tasty food
Felt really sorry for people who have to taste this food and assume it’s indian food!
Absolutely wonderful. One of the best Indian restaurants I've been to. I would highly recommend the lamb vindiloo.
Delicious food, excellent service and well-maintained restaurant. I often do pick-up and always am greeted with a smile. When I do come in for a sit down meal, they recognize me and ask me if I'd like my usual order. Food is delicious and not too oily or buttery, and be adjusted accordingly for richness and spice. Excellent date or special occasion dining spot, or even a take-out treat.
very special indian food, here
I have never been to place where it took three hours never again
Good food and staff, fast delivery
Love this place very pleasent , quite frankly a nice to go on first date. Then take a nice stroll through center city..
We came in for lunch. The wait staff is very friendly and polite. I'm visiting from the south so the experience of flavor was a delicious suprise!
Lamb Vindaloo was AWESOME! Mango lassi nice and thick. Delicious! Great service!

This is a difficult review for me. I have ordered here several times on grubhub, and the food has always been great. My favorite local Indian joint....but then...a few months ago I got take out, and subsequently got the worst food poisoning of my life! I was sick for 4 days at least, and I mean horribly sick...I lost >10 lbs during the ordeal, ruined my weekend attending a relative's wedding, etc. I am certain I got sick from this order, it may have been the samosa, but who knows? Probably was a fluke, but as far as I'm concerned a restaurant only has to get me puking and crapping my pants once before I stop patronizing them. Plenty of other good options on south street.
Amazing
Not authenticate Indian food. Chicken biryani was just yellow khichadi with boiled pieces of chicken
Good food, good atmosphere and staff
The food was decent, and the atmosphere was okay. I have had better Indian food in Philly, but it's a good place for those near South Street
The food was delicious
Didnt like the food at all. We ordered chicken shagoti, chicken reshmi kebab and chana masala. Chicken wasnt cooked at all. We gave back chana masala bcz it had too much cardamom in it. Only good thing about this restaurant was the oder of the restroom handwash. I observed that only non Indians visit this place. To all those people - you should consider visiting other Indian cuisine restaurant
I don't know why this place is always so empty. Had a lovely time with great food. Hope it picks up
مطعم مش عادي

Great food and service
Great food and service
Our favorite Indian place in Philly. Nothing too creative, like you might see at Indie Blue, on the menu but the standards are done well.
I went on Wednesday night on a date with my boyfriend and the place was empty at like 8pm. I have no idea why as it's a cute little place, very cozy, and had amazing food. My boyfriend and I love to explore food from other countries and Indian is one of our favorites. We've been to quite a few Indian places and I can say that this is both of our favorites. I got the Chicken Curry and he got the Lamb Curry with garlic naan and it was phenomenal. The naan was hot and fresh, the chicken and lamb were well cooked and the curry had a bit of a kick but nothing too hot to make in unenjoyable like I've experienced at other places. The portions were great for the price. We will definitely coming back and I recommend this place for anyone searching for some affordable but authentic Indian food.
Vegetable korma was delicious!
Meat sampler appetizer was DRY as hell and only had chicken and ONE piece of lamb! Service was not good ! Rude and in a rush to take my money !
Food was Very good, excellent service !!!
We went to Center City and was in the mood for some Indian food so we went to the Indian Restaurant on South Street. The waiters were very kind to us! The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered lamb chops, the chicken tikka masala and the lamb dampakht. Everything was amazing and my family and I can't wait to go again!
The manager looked to be rude. He was reluctant to talk about the ingredients of the food I ordered. He carelessly said, "the chef knows what's in and out of the food not me". Then why should he come to take the order? Instead he could send the chef for it. The food was ok ok, not the best.
A must try.
“ok indian food... they need to serve their speciality (Bengali food)” We got to know the owner is Bengali and thought they would offer Bengali cuisines in the menu, but NO. we got disappointed. The server was least bothered in serving us. we ordered Dal tadka/ bhindi/ Kadai paneer and biryani. Except for biryani which was nothing but a mix of chicken curry and rice, all were good in taste. We asked for malai kabab in starters but he said it will take 15-20 minutes, so we cancelled that. we talked ourselves that he could have said, 10 minutes and tried hard for it, but he flagged his hand in the starting only. and guess what, our food came after 35 minutes. I even appreciated the food but the server did not even acknowledge my compliment. and yes service was slow too despite there were hardly 5-6 customers. Overall I would say it was ok..!!
I eat there once a week. A little pricey though
Terrible order out service. Delivery came an hour longer than they said it would, so took a total of two hours to arrive from the time I ordered it. Totally unacceptable. And no offer of a discount or anything. Should've ordered from Tiffin. Don't waste your time, literally.
I've patronized this business a dozen times and the food was excellent each and every time. Since day one, I have been greeted by someone while entering. I've dined in & also have gotten take-out. The food was still amazing. Things to try: Chicken or anythig Tikka Masala, Lamb Karahi, Lamb or Vegetable Simosa. Always flavorful, can't go wrong with the above. And it's BYOB :-)
Cheaper and more consistent than some expensive alternatives
Good food and service. I had lamb, it was tender and there was a good portion. Perfectly spiced.
Went here for Valentines Day with my SO. Found it last minute, turned out a great choice. Good location right off Broad St. Small restaurant, but quick service, friendly service, and delicious food. Decent sized menu, lots to choose from. BYOB, first time trying it. Try the cheese naan. To die for, I bought a second helping to take home with leftovers. Will definitely go back. And as others say, pay with cash. They offer a discount if you do.
It was absolutely an Indian restaurant. No complaints, good food.
Not that much but it’s good
I have been to lots of Indian resturants but this one is among the worest resturants. The stuff are rude and the price is cosidered high. Try another indian resturant.
Wasn't great as we were led to believe.
Food wasn’t that delicious,
Vegetarian review. The chapati is okay and the malai kofta was very average. The decor is fancy for most Indian restaurants.
Lamb korma is our favorite
We enjoyed this restaurant last night. Unlike eating at a buffet-style Indian restaurant, the pace is deliberately unhurried. They take time to prepare the food and they don't hurry you to pay. The place is dimly-lit to evoke a romantic, "blue-moon" atmosphere with a luxuriant chandelier. We ordered their house specialty, lamb dumpakht, which was very nicely flavored and quite refined. The meats of the mixed Tandoori grill were tender and well-spiced. The Tandoori grilled salmon was perfect. I had the naan with coconut and raisins for the first time and liked it. My friend ordered mixed curry vegetables which was okay. If you want a slow meal in a romantic atmosphere, this is a good place. Just don't look at the big TV screen and enjoy the food at this BYOB. The price is very reasonable and the staff friendly. I'll go back again. Bring a flash light to read the menu if you are no longer a teenager.
Great food. Great service!!
The worst restaurant I ever tasted.... 100% ready made curries from Indian stores... I’ve ordered Butter nans and kheema Naan with chicken Tikka masala... Really bad and expensive
I went to the hotel on seeing the higher rating but I'm disappointed.I ordered biryani and few other items , the biriyani was a mix of rice and curry .The soup which I had was worst in my life.
GREAT RESTAURANT. Food is delicious. The chicken tikka masala is outstanding. Naan is a must to have with all dishes. I always go with plain or garlic. The lamb chops are amazing, and the grilled meat appetizer is the best appetizer.
I went there last night. I have no idea why this place is often empty. I have eaten here at least 7 times and had a great experience every time. The management is super friendly and the food is made to order for every dish. They give me free dessert every night. Last night after my meal the manager asked if I wanted a tour of the kitchen to see how they make the naan and chicken. Gave me more free food. Such friendly people who offer a great setting and product. A secret of Philly. Edit: ordered delivery for the first time. A Wednesday night. I am 10 blocks away and it took about 1.25 hours. Bad service. Adjusting down 2 stars.
I came here with my family during Christmas weekend. We sat down for brunch and absolutely loved it. Laurie was our waitress and she was great, very helpful and accommodating. We did endless mimosas and she was always on point about refilling our glasses. Food- Paneer Burji, Spinach Chaat, Paneer Pizza are a must. This was probably one of the best burjis I have head, it comes with a chili naan and you can customize it to your spice level.
حلال و معاملة حسنة و أجواء هندية ولكن لم يعجبني الطعام وهذا شيء غريب
It's better to be in hungry mode rather going to this restaurant
great for dine in and take out.
Strangely named"Indian Restaurant". Delicious chick pea starter, Lamb Saag and Chicken Vindaloo.
ممتاز ونظيف أثناء اقامتنا في فيلادلفيا أنا وعائلتي تعاملنا معه شبه يومي لوجبة الغداء
Good food, good service. Always great ❤️❤️❤️
Decent indian food, courteous staff. I do the CTM and Poori Bhajee.
Had a decent meal here
friendly staff relaxed atmosphere. I never had to ask for a refill. good food. lamb kurma was great
Five star service with food cost of 2 star place. Food, ambiance, service are just spectacular.
Simply amazing Indian food. I loved it.
Good food
Great food and service! Love the selection and emphasis on vegetables. Even good for kids, although I wish they would label the options that are spicy!
Nice place just very dark. The food is average , nothing to brag about.
Worst india restaurant and staff i have ever seen. They should learn how to treat customers. Never ever recommend this restaurant.
Love the food and ambience. Servers are great..
Tasty food, good service
I've eaten here twice now and am convinced this is the best Indian food in the neighborhood. The Tandoori Chicken is delicious and the portion is enough for 2 people.
This place has good food and very friendly staff. I will say some of the dishes are overpriced given the portion compared to competitors in the area. Regarding atmosphere, It's a well kept and dimly let which is a plus. The downside is it's super quiet and small. So if you're looking for an intimate dining experience, it's hard to have considering everyone in the place can hear your entire conversation.
worst indian restuarent ever . we were denied service because we were not ordering entree. this is first time i have exprienced this after being in US for 3 years. staff was very rude and could not speak properly.
Got there near six, it wasn't packed at all. I had a brother come into town and asked me to take him back here. Bring your hunger - portions are generous.
Curry made my butthole hurt, worth it though
Food is very good
I cannot recommend this restaurant as our food contained a metallic staple in the non-compressed shape. (Its pointy ends were opened and extended.) Fortunately, it caused no physical damage. The food was not great and not terrible -- much akin to takeout Chinese, except Indian and with a nicer interior to give the impression of a quality dining experience. The service was okay, if ignoring what was served. Be warned, you might masticate and/or ingest objects such as metallic staples! Eat at your own risk!
Very fast delivery and friendly
Very good food and service.
This is a great place that gives you a lot of value for your money. Also very friendly and quick service. The food is really good. This was my first time at an Indian restaurant and loved it.
Hospitality sucks here. That bald guy doesn't even know how to talk. Food is average. I would never go there again.
From the moment I walked in the door the fragrant spices whisked me off to this wonderful culture. The decor is crisp, clean & relaxing. The service is pleasant & attentive. There is plenty of time between courses for conversation. And the food, oh that food, it's simply divine. Every bit of it. It was our first visit & will definitely not be our last.
PLEASE go read some YELP reviews before ordering from here... at least for takeout. The delivery guy lied and told me he was "downstairs", I work near City Hall so he couldn't find parking right in front of the building and I ended up waiting a good 10 minutes for him to find parking and walk over to me to bring me my food. Didn't help that I was actually having an extremely busy day, so I could have used those 10 minutes. I wish he would have just told me when he was ACTUALLY downstairs. The food was ridiculously bland for indian cuisine - no heat and no flavor. I ordered veggie samosas and saag paneer (what they're supposed to be known for) and both were extremely dissapointing. The only good piece of food I got was the naan. I will say they have large portions, I got about 3 meals out of the serving size -- but the second 2 times I ate the dish I had to add my own spices and sauces to make it better.
Love the food and service
About the simplest name to remember for a great Indian meal. I always order chicken vindaloo from here and love how hearty and spicy it is. Highly, highly recommended.
we went here based on other reviews. it was amazing from start to finish. we will definitely go back. if you like mango, try the mango lassi.
Awesome place. Very nice people. The food here is very tasty, delicious and good. They are very reasonably priced. I would recommend this place to everyone who loves indian food.
The food was ok, but they don't provide any free lentil chips/wafers.
My favorite place for indian food. i love everything on the menu
Normally, I would say this is a good place. I’ve gotten take out from here on many occasions. However last nights take out was bad. It tasted “off”, like not enough spices and was luke warm when I got home. I knew something wasn’t right but I ate it anyway. I ended up throwing up multiple times in the middle of the night from the food. I will not order from here again.
The food was great! Portion size was descent.
Food was uninspired, completely
Great restaurant, friendly staff, tasty, authentic food with fresh spices (you immediately taste the difference) and nice environment. I prefer to eat in rather than their convenient delivery. The coconut naan (I forgot the name) is excellent.. as is the tandoori chicken. The only drawback is that the fragrant food smells can stick to your clothing. Overall I really like this restaurant and their sister restaurant on 17th and Callowhill St.
Indian restaurant, how I love you. Best things about the Indian Restaurant: * Chicken Tikka Masala and they will make it spicyyyyyy * Their garlic naan is fresh and out of this world * Its BYOB * 10% off your bill if you pay with cash * Free desert comes with your bill * They are very quick if you order takeout * White table cloths makes this place feel fancier (and pricier) than it is * Bollywood movies playing during dinner

Good place. Very friendly guys.
My friends and I went this restaurant last night, food was very good. Employees were very friendly. I really love it.
Absolutely, Awesome!! What a Gem
We were studying at a coffee shop near by and decided we wanted indian food. it was a nice day outside so we ordered it only set for later that evening, and we were going to take it to go and go to a park or something to sit outside, enjoy the weather, and eat. on our way to the restaurant it started pouring- throwing our plans out the window. We walked in and there are 2 couples in the entire restaurant. We are soaking wet, and we ask if we can eat in the restaurant because of our plans being ruined- they said no. they said they don't do that- despite the whole restaurant being almost empty and the fact that we are paying customers. on top of that, well my chana masala was pretty good, but the mutter paneer we ordered was tasteless.
Some of the best indian food in philadelphia
So-so Indian food. Like the name, the food is pretty generic and nothing particularly stands out; but it’s certainly not bad. Just unremarkable.
worse Indian restaurant I have ever seen. No sense in staff behavior - no cleanliness no customer service. pathetic- should go out of business very soon
Friendly staff. I asked them for spicy food and they gave it exactly what I want. I will come again in my next visit.
Didn't have soap in the restroom. Noticed after employee used the restroom.
Go to best Indian food in center city. For delivery OR eat in. Nice service and quiet atmosphere for a byob date night/friends night/family night/take the parents out when they visit night, for those who live in the neighborhood.
Great food, good prices and awesome location. Check this spot out
Excellent as all though service is little slow rather then that good food n nice ambiance.
Terrible restaurant. Disgusting food. Made me sick for a week.
Order online and pay cash for 10% discount.
Only the name is indian ....do not order biryani if u want have an authentic indian taste waste of money, time and food ... awfull.. will never ever order anything from this place ...
Indian foods are tasty, a littlebit spicy and hot. But it is mouth watering.
With great difficulty giving 1 star as its the minimum we can give. Deserves zero and one of the worst hospitality I have ever seen. Please don't go. The staff suck as much as the food. Regret going there, day was wasted
