Love the food, the server was amazing, but what’s with the door man and the strict seating rules? It was 5:30 and quite quiet, wouldn’t let us sit until the whole party was here. Wouldn’t let a party of 5 sit at a 6 top, told us to just squeeze in a booth. So i said just 4 (my 5th wasn’t coming for another hour) and still wouldn’t let us sit until the 4th showed. Just a weird policy and not friendly delivery.

We have been to this restaurant three times and it’s always been awesome! However tonight when we arrived the hostess was extremely rude. As a server myself, I understand difficult nights but this seemed very uncalled for. She was so rude, we decided to leave before even getting sat. When she explained where we could sit, I could barely hear her and she responded very snarky. Insisting that we had to sit at the bar, which was fine, but when I asked for her to repeat what she had said before, all I got was a rude blank stare. It’s a shame because it was a tradition that every time we came into philly we would stop here, but after that we might be looking for a new place to bring friends and family.

Always a great spot to stop for burgers and beers. Both their food and drink menus are diverse. They have pool on their third floor - it's a great floor for happy hour. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating. "Come.Sit.Stay.", you will!

Fantastic burger. Not too big. We also liked how the bun wasn't 2x the size of the burger. The fresh cut fries and spiced Mayo was a great addition. Server was friendly and the beer I had was better than your average bar beer.

It's 3 stories so there is more room for people to spread out. The first floor is always the most packed, but there is another bar on the 2nd floor. The food here is pretty good and theres room to hang out with friends where it's a little quieter on the upper floors. The beer selection is very good too.

Went at possibly the busiest time of the week at the busiest time of the evening. The crew running place held it together fantastically. Three floors really made the difference when it came to thinning out the crowd waiting to grab a seat for food. Left my number, grabbed a beer and shot some pool on the third floor while we waited. Once we were seated, the waitress did an excellent job of being attentive to our needs while managing a packed bar and her other customers. Food is ALWAYS excellent here and the beer rotation hits the spot. There are so many other good things to say about the atmosphere here. Music is great, lighting changes over the course of the evening, and there always seems to be something decently entertaining on the TVs. Nice clean bathrooms are always a plus too!

Love the dog pictures. Like the sign on the unisex bathroom. Didn't like how the waitress we started with finished her shift and didn't say anything. We ended up with a guy who was good. But then my friend noticed the waitress had rung up his drink orders regular price instead of happy hour. But the waiter cleared that up right away.

Awesome dive bar with 3 floors and two bars. The second floor has two pool tables. Had very friendly bartenders. They had a good beer selection. the drinks and wine were pretty affordable. Lots of dog pictures all over the place which make for good conversation starters. Will definitely be back for a chill night out and drinks with friends.

What a great place to go to before a show and the wait staff are very accommodating to get you out on time. Get there early because seats fill up fast. The menu varies enough to hit almost everyone. The drinks are fun and flavorful and if you're having difficulty choosing, as the waitress, they are great at pointing you in the right direction.

We found this place to grab a bite before a concert and we were so pleased we did! I got the good dog burger, it was cooked perfectly. My friends got a pork sandwich and a pulled pork grilled cheese. Everything we had was amazing! We split everything. We also got the truffle empanadas and they were delicious. The waitress gave us a tip to put the relish inside the empanada and she was not wrong. I did wish there was more meat in them though. The best part of this place was the staff. SO much personality. You can tell everyone there is close and enjoy their jobs. I can't express enough how much we enjoyed this place. Plus you're surrounded by pictures of cute puppies, it doesn't get much better!

We stopped by for a late lunch yesterday and were able to get a table pretty quickly. We needed to get in and out quickly for the ballet and we were able to do that. We would have loved, however, to stay and linger. The drinks were excellent and so was the food. Our two young kids enjoyed their kids mac and cheese and grilled cheese. Burgers were excellent. The service was friendly and fast. Nothing but good things to say about this restaurant

We stopped at the bar for an earlier dinner. The bottom floor is dark, feels a bit like an Irish Pub (which isn't a bad thing necessarily) but if you're wanting something different we went to the second floor and were able to sit in the front bay window that over hangs the street. It was quite nice. Food is good - I had the chicken chili and cornbread which was fresh and tasty. When we were there more around 5 pm it was quiet, I can easily see it getting fun and noisy later.

Stopped in this place while bar hopping with friends in Philly. Has a great local feel to it. Had a nice Russian River IPA. Bartender was friendly. We had some fresh cut fries that were delicious; exactly what you'd expect at a good, local bar. Had some great conversation and some great laughs!

We went to Good Dog Bar for dinner. We ordered the Mac and Cheese, Traditional Burger and the Buffalo Wings. Both the Mac and cheese and the burger were perfect. The mac and cheese was perfectly seasoned and tasted like real cheese. It was baked which was also a plus. The burger was perfectly seasoned and moist but still had the char on the outside which gave it a smokey flavor. One of the best burgers we've had in a while. I wouldve ordered the burger instead of the wings if Id known how good it was. The wings were a bit dry and the blue cheese dip was looser in consistency than it needed to be to coat on the outside of the wings/carrots. The staff was very friendly and the food came in a timely manner. If you're looking for a good burger this is the place for you.

Another one of my top three burgers in the city of Philadelphia I highly recommend getting it with the sweet potato fries and the aioli that it comes with is amazing as well. This is a great place to grab a drink and a bite to eat if you want somewhere quick. Also if you just want to hang out with some friends they've got darts and a pool table and arcade games on the top floor as well. No matter what your mood I feel that good dog is a great choice anytime of day. Outside of the burger the rest of the menu is great as well and the kitchen is always very very quick.

Stopped in for dinner for the first time last night, while the food and service were okay, I found the prices downright exorbitant. $75 for what amounts to slightly above average bar food is pretty excessive. While I'm sure I'll be back for drinks I don't think I'll be eating here again.

I used to live Good dog, and I still think the atmosphere is amazing. However, the food isn't as good as it used to be. I really miss the duck pot pie and the chicken cordon blue tenders. Bring them back, please! Oh, and they still carry great beer selections.

Good Dog has a reputation for its burgers. I eat a healthy diet, but from time to time when opportunity presents itself, I like to indulge in a really good burger. Based on the reviews, I was looking forward to the Good Dog Burger. It was OK. It was good. But it really didn't live up to expectations. There was hardly any Roquefort cheese in the beef patty, I could barely taste it. Other than the burger, the fries were delicious and the decor was pretty cool. Service was good as well.

For the Superbowl in Feb 2018, we had a reservation at a certain other place nearby (not Good Dog Bar) which was originally free, then they changed that randomly to charge hundreds of dollar for the reservation. This happened AFTER the reservation was made. Coming all the way from Colorado, this was extremely annoying and stressful... I then Googled, found, and called up Good Dog Bar, and chatted with them, and they received us with open arms. There were no reservations but she guided us on when to show up for the game. We got there the day before the Superbowl and they remembered me calling in. They were all nice and receptive, the food and drinks were also great! We went back the next day for lunch AND the Superbowl and every single time it was awesome. Highly recommend for food, drinks, and/or a game.

My hubby and I had their burgers for dinner and OMG were they delicious! First off they are true to their name, the burgers really are burgers. I had the California and all the ingredients were so fresh and delicious. Hubby had the bacon and cheese on Texas toast and I'll just say I know what I'm getting next time. The fries, you can tell are home made they were really good and didn't last long! . I guess I should have read all the reviews before ordering, but I got distracted by all the yummy food in the pictures. We've been waiting for a place like this that serves fresh delicious burgers, we were getting tired of fast food burgers.

This place is really cool! We stopped in for a quick lunch and the first thing I had to do was tour all the meat puppy photos they have on the walls. Love it, love it, meh, love it, GIVE ME THAT PUPPY, love it, meh, meh, love it..I spent about 10 minutes doing just that before I even sat down! Their food was really great, the skirt tacos were perfectly crafted and their beer selection had everything I crave. LOVE THIS PLACE! Highly recommended for a mid-priced lunch.

Our first time here, my first time in Philly, it was Happy tour and the $5 Cosmo and chicken Empanadas hit the spot. The drink was refreshing and the empanadas were fresh fried with a tasty salsa. I Really wanted to order the tomato sandwich as it was made with local tomatos. The bread, a sesame roll, which I wish had been toasted, was the best part of the sandwich. Otherwise all I tasted was aoli. My husbands brisket grilled cheese hit 100 in my opinion. Crunchy bread, tasty brisket, and Sharp cheddar. Perfecto. The service was eccellenti, friendly, and timely.

The place itself is great and most of the staff is awesome. Great food and good beer. Zach the bartender is beyond rude with customers. His language and attitude turns many customers away. If I was the owner, I would fire him without hesitation. Having customers walking out because of his bad attitude is bad for business.

I stopped by for a late lunch and enjoyed a couple drinks along with an amazing sandwich. I had the Salmon Grilled Cheese, and wow - what a fantastic meal. The sandwich was served quickly and hot, was crisp and loaded with cheese and salmon. This was my first trip here, but something tells me all their menu items are equally good. I would love to try more items, and next time I'm in Philly I plan to stop by again. The bartender was responsive and quick. I don't think I would consider Good Dog Bar for craft cocktails, but for a quick drink and some great food I highly recommend. If you are looking for craft cocktails consider Franklin Bar or Ramstead Room.

Original Zomato Review 2/27/2016 - Visited Good Dog Bar because it was close to the hotel and rated high. I'll start by saying the theme of the bar is very cool - check out the website and enter the dog contest. The bar is quaint and personal. Everyone seemed to be having a great afternoon. The food is average - it's a bar. I had the special (chicken tacos) which was good, not great. I'd like to see more flavor in the food. They have an opportunity to knock it out of the park. I'd like to go back - it's cool.

Industry geared bar with a pool table. Late night pops are to be expected but it is slightly too clean and bright to be a proper dive. The bar is long so position yourself wisely if you're looking for a really quick drink. Otherwise our bartender was attentive and aware.

We went for lunch today after a graduation at the Kimmel. Now I've been to a million bars in my life and ate at just about all of them, but Good Dog puts them to shame. Let's start with the wings. Big and meaty usually means "fatty and greasy", but not here. The wings were perfect! Everyone loved the mac n cheese and the fries that came with the kielbasa sandwich and burgers were fantastic. We also had a flatbread pizza that was just killer! I rarely write reviews but I was so impressed with the "bar fare" that I had to do this. Next time your in Center City make it a point to visit The Good Dog Bar! You won't be disappointed.

I came with my wife and we were immediately seated upstairs. We had this place on our list for months to visit but took time to get the time to go; we were not disappointed. We both had a Troeg’s Field Study IPA which were fresh and delicious. The choice of local craft beers was excellent. We both went for the signature house burger (hamburger stuffed with blue cheese) and the best fries I have had in a long time. We had them add bacon which is critical with the blue cheese. It is a bit messy when the cheese oozes out but well worth it. I recommend ordering the meat Medium because my wife ordered hers Medium Rare and some of it was overly rare. They have great photos of dogs all over the walls and a fairly small TV where they were playing a classic movie, but I imagine play sports most of the times. I highly recommend giving Good Dog a try.

My top place for american food. One of the best spots in the area. I'll return friends next time. Prices are decent for the quality. Food is similar to a cafe in Indianapolis I liked.

Walked in and first impression was this is a no nonsense dive bar, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Small place, 70's rock playing, small TVs placed throughout showing hockey or NBA playoffs and baseball. About 8 craft beers on tap with a nice variety...a couple IPAs, porter, saison, white ale, lager, etc. There is an upstairs but I stayed on the 1st floor. Here's where it gets real...the menu! What dive bar serves wagyu steak tartare?! Pork and Chicken liver pate? Berkshire pork sandwich? Local strawberry salad? OMG! I ordered the steak tartare and it was plenty enough for dinner, plus it was delicious! But, there were so many other items I would have loved to try. So...I can't wait for my next trip to Philly because it sounds like the menu changes often and even if it didn't there are plenty of other menu items I want/need to order. What a sleeper!

Service was great! Waitress was very knowledgeable about the food! The food was awesome! We had the deviled eggs, bacon cheeseburger, and the brisket grilled cheese. Burger cooked to perfection! It was our first time there, and we will definitely be going back!
