This Restaurant belongs to the category of Seafood restaurant.
We enjoy going there as the food is great. The wine selection is very good. The employees are great. Service is very good. The only thing negative is the seafood platter does not have very much on it.
Excellent food and service!
Filet was out of this world. Excellent appetizer selection as well.
Appetizer: Oysters=Great. Entree: Filet Mignon=Served lukewarm. Service: Excellent.
A fantastic filet, and fantastic service! Waitress Emily was very sweet and helped make my wife's birthday oh so special.
Great food and service
We had a party of 6 tonight. Server was great. Food was great. Oysters are second to none around here. Aged NY Strip was superb.
Excellent food and service!
FABULOUS food! The filet was one of the best I've had in a long time - and it was a very good size and took half home. My MIL had the lobster pasta and commented that there was plenty of lobster in the dish. The tuna tartare and mushrooms appetizer in black truffle oil were outstanding. Our server was attentive and kind. And the desserts? Sinful. We had the cheesecake and lemon pie. Can't recommend this place enough. It is expensive, but totally worth the cost.
Food and service are good
Very disappointed. $20 for a chicken Caesar salad that didn't even come close to being good. At least service was nice
This was a great location. We enjoyed a wonderful bottle of wine and excellent food. The atmosphere was inviting and relaxing.
Amazing food! Great service! Had such a wonderful time !
Wow truly a fine dining experience. Food was delicious and well prepared. Service is exceptional. I was impressed.
The service was slow for an exclusive restaurant. Our food came out an hour after we ordered it. Roger our waiter never came back to check on us and my fiance' had to ask for another drink when it was sitting empty for a while. We were ignored when we were outside alone waiting for our check. We finally had to get the hostess to tell our waiter we were ready to leave
Delightful evening having dinner at the bar. Hector and Kate were superb ambassadors of the restaurant. We look forward to returning soon. Regards, Jean and Joe
Food and service below average
Consistently high quality european style dishes. The staff is well trained, and the restaurant is managed well by the wonderful owners.
Food and service were excellent. Best scallops I ever had. I realize that corn is in season and local, but it appeared in many of the entrees. My wife asked if something could be substituted for the corn in her fettuccine dish and she received a very nice bit of fresh spinach. The kitchen, however, bcc was very slow bringing the entrees. Out server was very nice, knowledgeable, and efficient, but should have come to us and explained our apologized for the kitchen's slowness...We just sat there wondering. Cannot comment on dessert as we did not order any. This is an expensive place.
We had a nice meal until I left a 19 percent tip and the waiter asked if the service was not good enough or if he did something wrong..... I was shocked... Lots of guts.... Left a really bad taste in my mouth.
Wonderful dinner. Great atmosphere. Stellar service. (Mickaela)I had the salmon and my husband had the special (halibut). Lovely presentation.
I was here for my company Christmas dinner. The food was very good. My entree was filet mignon and it was nothing short of delicious. *Edit* I'm even going to now say that it was the best steak I have ever eaten.
Amazing restaurant food was on point. The steak was cooked to perfection. I know meats I smoke at home all the time. Friendly staff Sara & the Manager Sal were great.
I used to frequent the old location in Lancaster City and always thought of it as 5 stars or close. I would have given 1 star but Justin the bartender gave 5 star service. I last ate here on Christmas Eve 2018 and had issues with timing and the kitchen running out of food including 2 specials that were supposed to be held. I figured it was time to try again. I was told I could get Tuna Tartare which was still on the open table menu only to find out they couldn't do it. Not a big deal so I tried the Tuna Tataki and it was good. I then ordered the Halibut Cioppino special only to be told a few minutes later they were out of halibut. I ordered the Ceasar Salad and pasta special Penne Bolognese. They brought both out at the same time. The salad was ok with nice white anchovies. They said they remade the pasta but it was lukewarm and the pasta was limp overcooked boxed pasta. Justin did the best job he could and apologized and asked me to return but I told him as good as his service was he could not compensate for a subpar kitchen. I cannot see myself returning.
Excellent seafood with daily special appetizers and entrees.
Excellent meal and service. Drinks reasonably priced
Lets start with the staff, they were all very polite and super well mannered! I dont think they could have found better even if they were looking! Our waiter was prompt on filling our drinks and making sure he checked on us every chance he had. Onto the food, it was literally some of the best food I have ever had. Hot and delicious! We had the crab cakes and fried calamari for appitizers and they were to die for! Absolutely delicious! The entrees were incredible as well the roast melted in your mouth, the food had amazing flavor and textures! I will most definitely be back soon!
Tried it for the first time a few weeks back for lunch. Good place with an upscale atmosphere. Service was a little slow considering it was the end of the lunch hour and I was there with a client and we both needed to get back to our offices. But overall a good experience.
This was my second time at Gibraltar and it was just as wonderful as the first! I wanted a local restaurant with great food to take my dad for his birthday dinner while he was visiting out of town. The food was delicious, the ambiance was very nice, and our server was perfectly attentive while giving us enough space to catch up. The desserts were also incredible and the perfect size portion. I will most definitely be a returning customer!
Meh. Service is good. Food quality & quantity not so much. We'll pass on by next time.
Bridal shower was held here, wonderful food, excellent service, great location.
Waiter, chef and bartender all excellent. Manager/ owner? Not so much. Did not bother to acknowledge our table even with a simple "How was your experience?" Ar the prices charged, this gesture would be expected particularly when not very busy. You are charging big city prices for small city experience, nice to at least check in with first time guests.
Great food and atmosphere. We try to visit at least once every three.months or so for special occasions.
Food was amazing specials are very creative and delicious. Service was too shelf .. Atmosphere beautiful!
The service was outstanding! Only reason I gave it any stars.
Very pleasant. Enjoyed Sunday brunch of Lobster cocktail, crab omelet and poached eggs nestled on some yummy crab cakes.
Elegant dining. Superb wine pairings, elegant food preparation. French themed but really southern Italian. Service excellent, unrushed, and attentive. Not a crowded venu so very private even when all tables booked
We ordered the shellfish platter The PLATEAU meant for 2 to 3 people. There was no way even as an appetizer it was enough to split with 2 to 3 people. The only thing that made it different a 30 dollar difference from the one meant for 1 person to the one meant for 2 to 3 people was half of a lobster and 1 claw other then that it literally came with 2 mussels, 4 oysters, 5 clams and 4 of the little claw at of crab legs (not the big claw with a knuckle) the little claw on the tiny legs. When the manager came over he was rude and argumentative with my husband. We usually eat out 3 times a week since we don’t have kids and it’s just the two of us and we don’t kind paying for good food that’s a fair portion. This place was ridiculous and should be ashamed of themselves! Specially when they are going to charge a 30 dollar difference for half a lobster when I can go to the store anytime and get a whole lobster for 10. We will never go here again!!
The place was nice, the waiters perfect but I was really disappointed about the food. I ordered a grilled chicken rosemary, something not really complicated to do, the chicken was just enough cooked, the vegetables too few and really cold and I had more croutons (bread) than vegetables in fact and a LOT of vinegar sauce. Impossible to eat that plate. So i didn't . I paid a full price for something I didn't eat. I was happy having diner outside but in fact I am disappointed and sad after that experience. Never again.
Great drinks and bar. Food is mediocre at best, scallops overcooked and were probably frozen and a little freezer burned, not fresh. Mussels are the cheap tough variety, not the small delicate delicious types you find in other restaurants. Lack of seasoning like salt ruined the soups.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service. My girlfriend and I actually came in passing while the restaurant was closed, and the manager still let us in. He could have simply turned us away but he made sure we were taken care of. In addition, our service was still very proficient even though we were the only customers present. Thank you!!!
An upscale and fine dining experience. All of the food we received was great (highly recommend for apps: steamed mussels, mushroom with polenta | entrees: branzino) as well as the clean and modern seating area. Our waiter was extremely patient with us, as one of our party members had a wine allergy: going back and forth and relaying between us and the chef, he was able to get us the dishes we wanted without the wine sauces, etc. Props to the chefs for managing to work around it. Overall, a simply great experience.
Wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, and a good kids' menu (although not a family style restaurant). Beautiful place for a special night out.
We were a party of 8, but with only a 2 top and 4 top sat before us. One entree came out before a guest's appetizer salad. Apparently Sunny side up means well done at Gibraltar. Toast was not delivered with the breakfast meals. We had to ask for that when it was clearly states on the menu that breakfast comes with toast. Hanger steak was chewy. Bacon cheeseburger was average. Their coffee is good. Refills of water and coffee were prompt. We won't be back any time soon.
Quick drink and eats at the bar. Bartender was great. Tuna appetizer was great. Fries are great. Want to go back for dinner Hadn't been to Gibraltar since they were best F&M.
Excellent food and experience
Amazing food and service! Top notch! Salmon and filet both cooked to perfection
I love the food its very beautiful there to :)
Dined here for an early Mother's Day this past weekend. Our service was as wonderful as last time. My wife has a gluten sensitivity and our server Emily not only remembered from our previous visit, but was very sweet about working with the chef to change the halibut special to fit her needs.
Great food, great atmosphere, slow service.
Waited a while for food (longer than the typical wait for fine dining), but the wait was worth it. Had the scallops and they were excellent! Server was very polite and gave us free coffee to make up for the long wait. My wife and I will definitely be dining here many more times. Looking forward to eating outside on their patio.
Nice upscale place in Lancaster County.
Always a great meal.
Great seafood, wine and service!
Service was good but felt a little rushed when it wasn't even busy. Food was delicious but small portions. Only negative I have is the bread wasn't served warm and the butter was hard and cold.
An ok lunch. Had to wait a while for a hostess to show at the entrance. Burger was a little dry but bun and fries were good. Fairly empty over the lunch hour. The complimentary bread was a nice sourdough.
Great staff and wonderful food. Beautiful place.
Outstanding!!! Coming from NYC its hard to enjoy a meal anywhere else. This was our first time at Gibraltar and it surely did not disappoint!! The price is a bit more than your average Lancaster establishment but you surely get what you pay for! This place belongs in the big city, everything from appetizers, drinks, and main course was delicious!!!
Fantastic food and company.
Great food, Great Service. You will get what you pay for!
I had the most fantastic and flavorful dinner at the Gibraltar Restaurant. The food is top notch and the service is exceptional! Prices are great and the food is amazing! I will be dining at the Gibraltar Restaurant more often! Thank you for the outstanding service and food!
Got a bad vibe immediately from the girl at the front. It kind if set the tone for the whole meal. The service was rather slow. The broth for the fisherman's soup is bland. It tasted like the water the lobster was boiled in. Everything else was quite tasty. The grilled octopus appetizer was very tender. I ordered the halibut special, which was overcooked, but not inedibly so. My husband's steak was perfect. Would probably have given 4 stars if not for the terrible reception and slow service.
This was the second time visiting Gibraltar. The first experience was a date night with my wife, and it was amazing. Tonight was our second visit, with my wife, daughter and her boyfriend. Same experience, service was outstanding, food was prepared to perfection, and drinks were very good. If you want a laid back, yet sophisticated atmosphere, with outstanding service and food that is well above your expectations, this is definitely your place.
One of the best fine-dining restaurants in Lancaster County PA!!! They are known for their Mediterranean-influenced seafood!!
Another great experience at Lancaster's best restaurant. Excellent meal, great service and staff and top notch wine list. Whenever we visit family in Lancaster from Chicago, we make it a point to visit and it seems to just be getting better. With the level of food excellence, service and the ambiance of the new location, Gibraltar easily ranks up there with the very best restaurants in Chicago!
We have gone here many times both at old location and new...and they continue to be wonderful! I definitely would recommend this restaurant as it is and has been for years my favorite! Always bursting with freshness and great flavors! I am usually a sonewhat picky eater but this place makes me want to try new things! Great place. Occasionally it will take alittle while BUT this is a kind of place you want to stay and enjoy! Id like to address the bad review below...thats just rediculious that youd put a bad review because admittedly YOU KEPT MESSING UP YOUR JOB! Oh dont eat here they horrible to not let me keep messing up...1st of all if you want to learn how to be a server you dont start at this type of place. 2nd you dont ask to be rewarded for bad work! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! You are going to try to steer people away from here because you can not do your job! Horrible, just shows why you shouldnt be put on the schedule! Google should not allow this. THIS RESTAURANT IS WONDERFUL, IN FACT IM GOING AGAIN TODAY!
Gibraltar is my favorite restaurant and the best place to get raw oysters. Great food, great staff, great atmosphere. And a parking lot!!
My family came here for my Father’s 50th birthday and the food was amazing. Not only was the food great but the servers and staff were all extremely hostpitable and one of the servers even let my sister play with his calligraphy pen. An all around 10/10 experience in food, staff, and general atmosphere. I would most definitely recommend Gibraltar to anyone looking for a finer place to dine!
Delicious gourmet presentations! $$$$
Salmon so tender. Great place. Ordered Spinach salad add Salmon. Check hours opened.Loved it
Nice atmosphere, but overpriced for what you get. Service is VERY slow. Six of us in a group and most were satisfied with their meal. I had the chicken which was horribly over seasoned - better to ask them to lay off the salt and season it your self. Toasted bread on one dish was burned. it's OK, but there are better options than this restaurant.
Great food and service. There was a great wine list that ran the gambit in selection and price. Great atmosphere. Even delicious and unique bred before dinner. We will be back.
My wife and I went here for our anniversary and loved the experience. The shellfish sampler platter was amazing, with an excellent selection all prepared and served nicely: shrimp, mussels, clams, oysters, squid, etc. The selection of entrees was small, but they were for the most part interesting and the ones we had were extremely tasty. We didn't plan to have dessert but I'm glad we did, I loved the chocolate mousse cake. The server, Adam, was very attentive and the rest of the staff would come by from time to time to check in us where we sat outside. And they made a nice little extra dessert for our anniversary. We'll definitely be going back.
Nice for brunch!
Great atmosphere, food and drinks are spectacular!
The service was outstanding as was the filet.
Great Service! Delicious Food! Highly recommend the seafood dishes.
Several years back my wife and I met a longtime business colleagues for dinner and Gibraltar was recommended by local friends. Back then it was our first time and I had no specific expectations. All I can say is it was a marvelous experience. From the moment we sat down the service was impeccable. The staff was professional and attentive without being intrusive. The pace was perfect...neither rushed or caused to wait infinitely for the next course. Since then we’ve followed the move of the restaurant to it’s current location and we are still big fans. The place has a modern sheik feel with a great sense of style but yet still comfy enough for an intimate dinner. We often choose to sit at the bar, solely based on the great attention we get from the bartenders. Ken always seems to be in a cheerful mood and gives attentive service every time. The food and wine are always both delicious and beautifully presented. Several of us consider ourselves foodies and we were are constantly wowed. It might be considered pricey for some people but we consider it well worth it. I would certainly recommend to anyone looking a great night out with a fantastic meal.
A little pricey but really good !!
Excellent service, good atmosphere, great food. Had the Salmon. Delish!!!
Gibraltar never disappoints, which is why my friends and I have spent countless Saturday nights there. The servers are quick, well mannered, and hospitable. I recommend this restaurant to anyone in town who wants that classic fine dining experience. Between the food, atmosphere & staff, Gibraltar is truly unmatched by other restaurants in the area.
Friendly and attentive service, delicious food no matter what you order, fabulou's drinks.
Great food and great service
Great Service, superb entrees, stellar drinks, and delectable desserts. A great experience.
This restaurant started out strong, great food, great wait staff and just a generally good nice higher end dinner. On continued visits, the standard dropped dramatically, from wear and tear on the fixtures and fittings, to dirty tableware and worst of all, dirty wait staff to the extent that one waiter had horrendous body odor. Not at all appetizing. I would love to see them step up their game, as I thoroughly enjoyed this place originally.
Food is amazing... service top notch
Food was outstanding. And it was Mother’s Day. Service was excellent. Had lamb and king crab for dinner. The kale was the best I have ever tasted! Would definitely go back.
Great brunch today. I always enjoy brunch here. Try the mushroom omelet.
Great place, great food
Great atmosphere, great service, delicious drinks. A limited menu, but it's quite well prepared and delicious.
Service was top notch! Great Sunday Brunch!!
Was there some years back, when it was still over by F&M college. Great food, wonderful ambiance, and attentive but not overbearing staff. Food was wonderful, and service excellent.
Great experience fine dining. We don't mind paying up if the details and quantity of the meal is a good value. The staff, food, and atmosphere doesn't disappoint for that special occasion. My suggestion is fill the place up with the Happy Hour crowd and be a little more creative in bar specials to add a jubilant atmosphere during the early part of the evening.
Delicious food , very friendly attentive staff!
Very nice. House salad was excellent. My filet with good. I should of said medium rare but it was still very good. Nice place. Will be back
Very expensive. The food was just okay. I will not be going back.
Food,atmosphere and staff always 5+.
Delicious food, great service and wonderful ambience on the patio.
One of my favorite places... you must try the halibut!! The way it’s prepared is like nothing I’ve ever had before. The cream sauce is amazing. We also always get the chocolate temptation...I’ve gone just for this dessert...omg!!! Pinot Grigio... Mmmm.
One of the best places to eat in Lancaster county. Fresh and always great. Plus they use local farmers products
The food was good the sevice was good the price was not. Wont go back because of the small menu. Good for one time.
Great fine dining restaurant. Staff is always attentive and service spot on. Quality of food and value for price is good - even if it is a bit more than others in the area. Halibut was excellent. Unfortunately did not have room for dessert. Will make this a regular place for dining.
Upscale place for fresh seafood and steaks. The atmosphere and service is above par. Good place for dinner out with friends.
The food is great, but they do not have an easy vegan option. My waiter didn't even know what I was saying when I asked. My family loves this place, the bar is also beautiful. I just wish they were a little more progressive.
We had an excellent dinner and an efficient server. It took a very long time for our dinner to come up, but we were enjoying ourselves and, fortunately, not starving. The salmon is wonderful!
Birthday dinner. Food and service was very good. Waitress misled me on two beers. Did not tell me that one was sour beer which I don't particularly like. Then I ordered a different one and she didn't tell me it was a Shandy!!
Very good great Service.
This place has the most amazing staff, service and food and that’s a fact. I am truly blessed to have worked with some of the best people I have ever met, but the reason i’m rating this establishment a 1 is because of the poor management. Chef is a respectable, talented man, so this isn’t about him. One of the owners, Salvatore Mancuso, is one of the most condescending, disrespectful men i’ve ever met. Not only is he money hungry and drinks on the job, he also does not care about his staff. The staff make the entire establishment and deserve respect but fail to receive it... in fact it’s completely the opposite, they go through immense mental abuse...hence why the turn over is so incredibly high. I went home crying several times due to this, hence why I had to say goodbye. Before eating here, please know what you’re putting your hard-working American dollars into.
Quiet Sunday brunch, great service and food. Nice selection of items. My burger done perfectly. A campanion was raving about the crab omelette!
Had our rehearsal dinner here in one of the private rooms. It was absolutely amazing! One of our guests even said the filet was the best she had ever had. Customized the menu for us and everything! Drink creations are strong and delicious. Everything went smoothly. 5+ stars!
The food was absolutely Amazing! Great service, good wine recommendation. Will definately be back. A little pricy but worth it.
Super fastastic food quality, reccomended
Great food but a terrible place to work at. Why? Well first of all, if you’re working here without any experience in hosting, serving, or whatever, they will be mean about it and will probably not schedule you ever. I worked here for about six months from September to February and a little bit of March and ever since March I never got scheduled again. The manager only cares about the money and not about their workers. The only reason that I could think of why they did that is because I kept messing up my job. Honestly i would have been fine if they fired me, but instead they just never put me on the schedule... really unprofessional. Still waiting on that call. The food is great though I do not recommend eating here.
Great food and atmosphere. But our waiter was not pleasant.
My family took me here for Fathers Day in 2017 while I was visiting I. Lancaster,PA. It was a really neat place and the food was superb. I enjoyed it very much and would like to return some day.
I had heard great things about Gibraltar but I was let down in my first visit. The food was poorly executed and the cocktails fell short of the expectations. That said the atmosphere was good in the bar area and the style was nice. Might be worth a second trip but I'm more inclined to stay downtown were I know the drinks and food are consistently top quality.
Classy. Great date place... just dont go there for a work dinner with a coworker that has no idea to function when his boss is sitting right next to him. Dude, go easy on the wine.
If I could give less I would. Terrible place not sure how it's held on to a 4 star rating this long. Food came out cold, more than once. Didn't dare eat it after that because of the interaction I had with the manager. Staff seems great but very unappreciated, even stated in reviews which is a first I've seen. If you can't treat your employees correctly I'm not surprised there are issues like what I dealt with. This is one of 2 places I have actually walked out on without eating or paying, and after they screwed up the food they actually tried to charge for the drinks that we used to keep ourselves occupied while they tried to fix our food. I got the impression that the owner is money hungry, which is crazy because it's a high priced restaurant to begin with. Food doesn't fit the cost and service is sub par, which is to be expected when you're not correctly playing your staff, explains the turn over too. What it burns down to is if you don't take care of your customers and staff, you're going to run yourself out of business. I would never return here, take care of your staff, serving is far from an easy job and doing it for 2 bucks and change an hour is crazy. So to have to to deal with poor ownership and bad management toward staff and customers is never going to help. Rethink your strategy.
I don't usually go to higher end restaurants, but we were celebrating our friend's birthday so my wife and I decided to go. There were 12 of us and everyone loved their food and enjoyed their experience. My halibut was cooked perfectly and everyone working there was very professional and courteous. We will definitely be going back on a regular basis.
We ate brunch...food was excellent, service was outstanding. It is not a cheap place to eat, but in this case you get what you pay for.
We were from out of town and found this spot Excellent food & drinks! Very nice ambiance very accomadating to our party of 6! If we were locals we would come back for sure! Thank you!
It was amazing! Food was delicious, service was great, atmosphere relaxing! I highly recommend!
My wife and I stopped in her for cocktails and some lite food. We ended up sitting at the bar and the staff was very welcoming. My wife had a pumpkin spice cocktail of some kind, and I had dirty gin martini. Hers was AMAZING, mine was a good martini. She had a fig and goat cheese app, with a side of spinach. Both were good, but the spinach was the best! Lots of garlic, olive oil, and pine nuts. I had the Tuna Tataki. The tuna was prepared perfectly, rare. The sauces served with it were home made and delicious. For dessert we had a cream cheese dessert, with a gingerbread crust. We upgraded it to include a glass of Moscato that when poured over the dessert changed it completely!! The prices were high, but the ambiance, service, and quality of the food made it worth it. We will be back for another special occasion.
A nice slightly upper scale restuarant for Lancaster County.
We stopped in after a concert for a short stay. We had a very friendly greeting from the staff. They were quite attentive yet unobtrusive. Recommended.
Excellent Atmosphere exceptionally prepared cuisines beautiful mixed drinks with special flare. Grant was the best server EVER! Super for date night!
Amazing food Great atmosphere and ambiance Wonderful hosts(esses), servers, and wait staff Definitely worth a repeat visit For us it's more of a special occasion than regular destination but that's our preference
Rarely do I take the time to write a review. Just had dinner there this evening for the first time as we do not live in the area but were in Lancaster today. The filet mignon was one of the best I have had in a long time. Everything on the plate was delicious and the pumpkin cheesecake was so good I literally wanted to lick the plate! We shared a piece. I was so full but wanted to order another one! Service was great and refreshing. I was so impressed with the young adults working there who were very courteous (and definitely well trained). I get so disgusted and saddened when you go to a restaurant and the servers are talking between themselves, on their phones and my all time favorite when they say what do you need! I need you to ask me "How can I help you". Wonderful experience.
