This Restaurant belongs to the category of Buffet restaurant.
Love it but it is always the same food
Everything is fresh, big selection of items (soup, salad, nachos, breads), plenty of veggies on the entre bar, mac & cheese, etc. Staff is great, watched 3 busloads of kids come in and they managed them so well I barely noticed them. Make this your Gettysburg buffet stop!
A "must visit" whenever in Gettysburg ! Food is always fresh and appealing. Friendly service too !
I recently went there during a school trip 2 days in a row. The food was bland and tasted kinda gross. The place overall just seemed dated and dirty...
Was the worst place me and my fat ever eat at would not recommend it to anyone
Plenty of food on the buffet, but nothing was particularly spectacular. Furnishings and atmosphere is a little dated and stale. Overall, a decent value, but there are better options if you're looking for a special dinner while visiting Gettysburg.
Great service and food!
Very knowledge in dietary restrictions. Comprehensive list of items with allergens. Food was very tasty.
The food was horrible. The lemonade was watered down. Food was cold and chicken was pink. Had explosive diarrhea after. Desert tasted ok. Mac and cheese was awful and grainy. Food tasted like it was sitting out for hours.
Always good, fresh home cooked food on a buffet. Will please every pallet!
Very good comfort food. Nice people. Great service.
We all went here for a school DC trip, we have been trying hard not to use the bathroom on the bus but we have successfully filled the bathroom.
Good food, pet friendly, service was on point.
Food was awesome, Service is fantastic
The food is amazing! Plus, there is a good variety to choose from. Would definitely come back one day!
Great buffet. Can get busy, arrive early.
Great food good service and family fun a great line of food roast beef turkey and ham with all the side's and dessert
After reading the reviews on Yelp, we almost didn’t eat here. However, I’m glad we did. The food was really good and the staff couldn’t be friendlier. We definitely got our money’s worth.
The food was amazing and there is even more than just food overall great experience
The food was horrible. I went with a large group of people and almost everyone was feeling sick after. The mac & cheese was extremely runny and the noodles were stuck together. The bread tasted old and off. I dont get sick from food very often but I feel extremely sick and nauseous. After eating my whole body tightened up and I felt dizzy. I got multiple migraines that lasted 5-10 minutes and I can barely drink water without wanting to spit it back up.
Good food. If you leave hungry it's your fault.
The food was amazing as always and the gentleman that waited on us was very pleasant. The Musselmsns
Place was kind of dated on the inside but that's probably part of its charm i guess. Lots of historic photos and memorable, even a shop open part of the time. The food was pretty good, meat carving station was excellent. Nothing unusual or special, but all your comfort food favorites! The salad bar had some unfresh items which is my only complaint otherwise it was very nice.
Service and food was absolutely amazing. Kept the whole family full for a good price.
General Pickett’s Buffett has quite a selection to choose from for dinner. They have about 11 different deserts. Their prices are decent. They, also, have a gift shop upstairs. This isn’t the first time I have visited. My family knows this place by name and requests to come here every time we visit Gettysburg. The servers are super friendly and informative about both the food and Gettysburg. I highly recommend that you and your family visit. My family will likely stop by tomorrow on our way home.
My husband and I enjoy going to this buffet on a regular basis. Good home-cooked food and friendly service!
one our dc trip, the food was pretty bad. the salad bar was pretty wilted so all i ate was corn and rice. the brownies were pretty stale and hard. the bread tasted funky. my friends also had a bad dining experience and one said the chicken nuggets tasted like horse caca. the gift shop is cool but the food is a no no
Dont go here it gave me food poisoning and all the food was cold
Good food and nice staff.
My server was Robin, he is the main fixture of this place! He was extremely busy and had a majority of the tables, he never missed a step and smiled and talked to each person. He truly makes General Pickett's Buffet. The food is still top notch and everyone on staff has always been friendly and welcoming!!
Was great had great service. And had good hot food. Would go again
This place was pretty good and very reasonably priced. They have hot foods, a huge salad bar and even someone carving fresh cooked meats! There was a good variety and their desert options were very delicious and tasted homemade. The staff was also very friendly and attentive.
Food was delicious and employees were so friendly.
Wish I could give it zero stars. Brought my family here expecting to eat Easter dinner and told at the front that I needed reservations and would have to wait 6 hours. Does not say this ANYWHERE ON THEIR SITE WHATSOEVER. We walked 2 miles to get to the place for absolutely no reason because they apparently have rules that they do not advertise anywhere. I will recommend people steer clear of this place. Total disgust at the surprise that is mentioned no where WHATSOEVER. Lost my business and anyone who I ever hear heads to Gettysburg that I speak to. Thanks for ruining my Easter
The main reason I give it two stars is because the staff there is pretty awesome. Very kind, always check in, and nice to chat with. But unfortunately, the food has gone downhill progressively. The chicken noodle soup was tatseless, the selection is pretty poor and the buffet is quite small. Among other things, the vegetables were all overcooked and the cake was dry. Nothing was particularly delicious and I ate my way through to try to find something semi-great and worth the price, but to no avail. I don't think we'll ever go back. The staff is super sweet though, and I really hope our experience was a fluke, but I don't think it was.
Hell " YEAH good food great place
Really nice buffet. Good food.
Let me start out with awesome. Real home cooked buffet. Excellent food. Awesome Thanksgiving Day buffet. This place is the best. Located right on the road to the battlefield and close to Alot of the lodging. "TEN STARS"
No trip to Gettysburg is a trip without going to Pickett's Buffet. My family visits every time we go out because of the great selection of food and the friendly service awaiting.
Great service great food and great attitude of the staff!!! Thank you for another very wonderful dinner at your location definitely more to come very soon like everytime im in Gettysburg
I’m pretty sure general Pickett uses something else instead of ranch dressing. It was very salty and creamy. And I also don’t think he’s there. I was very disappointed that he was not there. The chicken nuggets where not good at all and they look like Richard Nixon’s chin bone.
Delicious food and an amazing staff!
They had a great selection and the value for the price was exceptional. They have a great gift shop upstairs too.
Good food, lots of food choices, friendly staff, and a gift shop upstairs. The bathrooms could be updated.
Nice place to eat. Fresh salad bar, fresh home bread, good hot bar, and nice servers.
Good service good food
Great place to eat and friendly staff.
Excellent Buffet great wait staff. If you're in the mood for Buffet meal this is the place.
Great selection and reasonably priced.... would recommend for all
Everything was delicious. I tried a little of this and a little of that and left way too stuffed. Our waiter was terrific
Amazing food but a bit pricey.
Great service and tasty buffet
Service was excellent. Great food selection. All homemade and piping hot. Highly recommend! $15 a person, worth every penny.
The restaurant smelled like a nursing home. Food was okay. Carved meat was cold. Was not worth $53 for 3 people...
Great place to eat and visit. Tons of options on the Buffett and the food changes daily. Lunch and dinner prices very reasonable at lunch. Awesome desserts and service always a great place to visit. Great gift shop upstairs reasonable prices and a huge selection for a little shop. A must in G-town for variety and southern taste.
Food tastes like it came from Kroger and the gift shop is kinda sketchy. If you go get your not going have a good time in the bathroom after. At least the desert is ok but the service is trash and you won’t want to go for the style.
Very good food staff helpful.amd friendly beautiful picture covering the walls
Great food, nice staff!
Food was homestyle cooking at its finest! Service was great
Went here today right after touring the Gettysburg battlefield good price and selection to choose from. Prices very fair for a family Friendly gentleman greeted us and talk to us about the restaurant and prices on the wall. Went after dinner to visit the gift shop just upstairs from the restaurant.
The people were nice and the food adequate Could use some updates in their recipes but otherwise I enjoyed it
First time there food was good good service, prices were fair ,will return
Collard greens where excellent, food was good, and very friendly staff.
It's been a couple years since I've been doing construction in this area but they are still as great as before keep up the great job I'll be back every year around the same time if not before.
I have been here many times in the last 20+ years. I love it and now my kids do as well
Good food & service
I found this place to be blah. $11.00 plus $1.75 for a drink seems to be a bit steep for the quality of food I had. Don't get me wrong that have a nice selection of items on the buffet, salad and dessert bar. It just tasted bland to me. The food quality alone won't stop me from returning, however the price will.
Delicious home cooked food on buffet. Older gentleman waiter provided us with excellent service & was very knowledgeable with Civil War Era history & after. We highly recommend having dinner here.
PROS: The staff there is very nice and helpful. They turn over tables fast and well, clean the bathrooms any time they can, and they keep the buffet clean! They can sit many people and accommodate groups up to 25 people. They're located on the outskirts of downtown Gettysburg which makes it easy for people to travel to once done exploring. CONS: They did not have much to choose from. They had a salad bar, dessert table, and a food bar, they were 15 feet long each. They did not have as much as other buffets that i've been to. Unfortunately, they charge to much for their minimal selection. If not the food it was very cramped in there and parking was a pain. OVERALL: I liked this buffet because its located in a convenient spot and is very clean. Of the food they have it's really good. The staff is very nice and can fit a lot of people inside. Lets just hope you don't mind being crushed in there
Good food and atmosphere. We visit here often.
Food is good, but they sell Confederate stuff in the store. I get it's a part of history, but that doesn't mean sell a key chain and wallet with that printed on it.
Poor quality of food-food was awful. Nothing tasted good. Very disappointed. We will not return
If you're busy so touring, this is the place to go for a quick bite. The food was excellent and is a kid friendly restaurant. I highly recommend this place:)
This place had horrible food, the food didn’t taste bad but after the eating, everyone at my tables stomach hurt. The waiter who also was taking our plates away had stuff on her nails. There was also at least 3 flies swarming around my food.
It was absolutely worth a visit! They have a great group deal! All you can eat buffet was far better than I expected. The food was so well cooked and I wanted a third plate ( only usually eat two plates). The chicken, green beans, and sweet potatoes are worth mentioning. The desserts were to die for even though the selection was mostly pies and breaded desserts. It was clean and the servers were so nice and explained clearly so all the boys that came with us understood what to expect. If I could I would go again.
The food was so good and fresh and hot! The staff are friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and the gift shop carries a variety of things, including some interesting books and post cards. Unfortunately we missed the theater show, but we'll be back.
Very good food, a nice home cooking style. I would definitely recommend this place, we came on a Saturday morning not busy at all.
Food was hot and good, but not anything to rave about. Selections were generally typical for a buffet. The desserts were very good and there was more to choose from than what you would expect. Seating was close but not cramped. This is definitely a place where tour buses routinely stop so you may have to wait to be seated. At more than $33 for two adults, I feel it is too pricey for what you get.
A must if you are in the area. The food was amazing (homemade southern food on a buffet)! The staff was excellent.
Not only was the Food excellent but also was the service and plus the gift shop
Delicious food. We arrived behind 3 buses of students. Buffet never ran out of food and service was great. Prices are great if you have children. I had a 7 and 10 year old and only $7 for the 2 of them combined. Must he great place as 4 more buses arrived as we were leaving. Great place and sraff!
Nice home buffett -
The food had hair in it, and the food was under cooked, the meat was raw and everyone on my school trip felt sick after eating here
I had to to here on my 8th grade field trip after a visit to see all of the historical sites, and 30 now, and I AM STILL TRAUMATIZED. It was the most disgusting restaurant that I've ever been to. Just don't.
Great selection of food and plenty of it!
Delicious food, courteous staff, and lots of historical paintings and memorabilia. Easy on the wallet, as well. Will come back if I visit Gettysburg again.
Food is very good, much better than some buffets.
i was harassed by the constant yelling of the p word. i found a tangled hair in my salad which was honestly a color I have never seen before. the fish was so raw that it was still flapping around on my plate
The carved turkey breast is amazing !! Large salad bar. Great selection of dessert !! Excellent service. And they serve alchohol !!
Very good food and super friendly staff. A must go to when in gettysburg
The prime rib is tender, juicy, and hot! All the food is great! You can get brussel sprouts, cat fish, turkey, carrot cake, ham and bean soup, tilapia, beef strognanof, black forest cake, fried or baked chicken, corn, zucchini, seasonal fruit pie, and the list goes on!
Good old fashion buffet. Nothing more nothing less. Awesome food and really nice people. It was nice having pecan pie and not be a holiday.
The salad bar and desserts were great, but the entree's and sides we're overcooked and lacked flavor. I will say that they are efficient at serving busloads of people (we had 3 busses: 150 people total). So I guess with that quantity of food, it's not realistic to expect quality
Great food. Good selection. Friendly staff.
I loved all of it I'm pretty sure I'm addicted to their chicken nuggets
Fun. Good food. Fair price.
Great food and reasonable price.
Not the first time we've been here and probably won't be the last. Always good food and they even had pickled eggs!! Perfect!!!
Went with a large group so I'm not sure how service would normally be. The food was not great.
Good buffet, good food.
Home cooked style, tasty as can be, and all you can eat buffet. What else needs to be said? About $15 per person, and well worth the price of admission to me. I loved this casual dining experience and the friendly staff. If you come out of General Pickett's Buffet, and you're still hungry, call the doctor because something is wrong with you. I'll definitely be returning.
Terrible. I read the reviews, thought some were overly picky and went anyway. We were on vacation and severely disappointed with the food. Family of 4, left hungry, $70 check. We went to McDonalds.
Love this place, friendly staff, good home style foods, nice salad bar with excellent choices, hot foods are good solid type, meatloaf, Salisbury steak, meatballs, chicken, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, veggies, and others. The dessert bar is excellent as well, nice variety of cakes, pies, brownies and an apple caramel bread pudding. If you leave here hungry it's your fault. Marie was great! Sense of humor and on top of everything.
General Pickett's is the place for variety of different foods excellent prices wonderful staff in historic Gettysburg if you need to stop to eat please go to General Pickett's
horrible customer service, would not let us get coffee when asked. Bad food tasted like cardboard. Did not give the feel of the civil war unrealistic.
It was pretty epic, they have moist chicken nuggets
terrible my chicken was pink and all the food was undercooked The chips were soggy my pie was cold
Worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had in my life. The food was tasteless and disgusting, there was absolutely no place to move around because it was so crowded and the staff was rude!
Food was horrible, staff was rude, some of the food was cold, overall not a good experience. I would give it zero stars if i could. Very disappointing
Great food choices. It gets busy at times with the tour buses but the staff keep it moving. Willbe back soon.
Awesome desserts! Wonderful buffet! Always a place to sit with a large group. Remember to check out the gift shop for fun souvenirs!
Awesome place, food was excellent. The staff was even better. We rolled in with herd of motorcycles, husbands & kids...they were ready for us.
Love this place they feed the tour bus drivers Salisbury steak is my favorite an the corn.
Short wait time, great food! Loved the ham and sweet potatoes!
They give you your own personal feedbag and the feast is on.
Paul&Patty Miele there is a reason why you need to book in advance. Went here with my family and it did not disappoint me. If you have a problem with this review my answer is this: go write a bad review someplace else and act your age not your shoe size.
Went there on a Saturday 2 weeks ago for a late lunch. Places in the heart of town were reporting an hour wait for seats so gave Pickett's Buffet a try. Was immediately seated and courteously served, place was not at all crowded. Good food and if you leave here hungry it is your own fault. This is not a fancy place but a cozy little old fashioned buffet, suits me fine. Nice fresh salad fixings, the mac and cheese I could take a whole tray home if I could. The chicken parm was great and when I return I would get that first, as it was I was almost full by the time I tried it. Dessert was excellent, the walnut apple cake and banana cake I could eat every day and not get tired of. Glad I kinda stumbled upon this restaurant. I will be back! Good eats.
Went with a tour group. Food wasn’t good. It smelled disgusting. Black hair in my salad I have blonde hair. They only had Mountain Dew at our table.
I’m pretty sure I have seen everything on their menu at my local Walmart in the freezer isle and somehow they still managed to mess it up. Also they missed the part where the Union won the war
This food was decent, but some of it was dry.
Stuff was a little dry but everything I ate was good. Left full and didn't eat anything the rest of day or night. And we are at 3.
AYCE buffets food is ok, seasond for the masses so it can be pretty bland. But all an all it works.
Food was terrible and people working were rude
great place! good food, the cooker is Mexican and aligns the American recipes with her cooking style, so the result is amazing. extremely recommended. also the price is fair. this place is a must. they serve many dishes
Great food and service
Food not so good save menu never changes.only the soup changes
Not the fanciest, or cleanest place to go, but the food has always been good for the past 6-7 years that I have been going.
If you like to eat alot food this is the place steam veg ham fish ribs roast turkey
Price is right but the quality of food isn't anything to get super excited over. It was a good spot for a bite with a large group but don't get your expectations too high.
Good, reasonably priced buffet
Great pictures of the area and historic figures. But the food was awful!! Carved beef and ham was cold, chicken was dry and overcooked. Gravies were sodium filled not homemade. Plastic tablecloths were old and dirty as was the carpet. I will never go back!
I very much enjoyed the food and service, excellent location next to my residence. The workers are always very kind. Will come back again.
Great food. Great server. Awesome deco. Visit gift shop on top floor.
Love this place. Never disappoints! Staff very pleasant and friendly!
I definitely recommend this restaurant! We visited at lunchtime, and the variety of choices on the buffet tables was incredible. Everything was very clean, the service was efficient and the price was extremely reasonable.
Been eating here for years! Home cooking all you can eat buffet. Worth money!! Great family dining experience. Clean. Employees are friendly as well. Buffet kept well stocked. Drinks filled and tables are cleared. Longest i have waited for a table was 45 minutes at the height of tourist season with buses. We go here every year while visiting Gettysburg every summer.
Good food....seems always busy!
Wonderful buffet, small options but each was great! Will make sure we come back here for lunch or dinner next time we visit!
Delicious buffet. Not too expensive and quick to get in and at a table!
General Pickets is a good buffet. Plenty of selection of good old fashioned home cooked food. Fish, ribs, beef, turkey, wings, nuggets, rice, mashed potatoes, salad bar and desserts. Friendly and helpful staff. Definitely plan on stopping by at some point in your visit. After a long day on the battlefield or the last meal before you leave on your journey.
Excellent buffet. I have been going here since 1992 and have yet to be disappointed. Whether for lunch or dinner you will be sure to find something you will like. The price is great, too.
food is drenched in salt. taste like sea water. everything is nasty. little variety of food.
Buffett! Lots to choose from. Excellent desserts
Food is excellent..wait staff could use some improvements. I go to Gettysburg every year and take most afternoons meals there.
Their buffet is the biggest & best around. So gooooood
Guys if you Come here the bread is good my and I had plates ps PLEASE don’t eat anything else
A very good section of a variety of foods. So much better than the Golden Corral in my area. Clean, well attended to, and excellent service! Excellent price too. Overall grade A-
air is heavy on lungs hard to breath hair in food dry stale inedible
Polite staff; souvenirs are much cheaper here than other places
Good choices of salads entrees and desserts. Nice staff. Not fancy, but filling.
Great food. Great service! Our family enjoyed everything they had to offer on their buffets. Great place to eat before or after the visit to the Gettysburg battlefield.
I’m pretty sure there was mold growing in my chicken
Every time that I've been here, I'm always impressed. There is a great selection of hot, homemade food to choose from. The staff is very friendly and always checking in with customers. It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it.
I surrendered. I understand why they call it pickets charge. Pickets army charges the food food bar. The barrages of great tasty food never stops. Instead of leaving the battle field defeated... you leave full and happy and with money to spend.
Best buffet I've been to. All the food tastes like home cooking. Excellent service too. Will definitely return. The attached gift shop has something for folks of all ages.
Great place for families and for groups. Have had many a terrific meal here when visiting Gettysburg. Worth the stop as it is one of the few places in town not to price gouge, and has a friendly, happy staff. Worth the stop.
I visit here each time I go to bike week. Good ole country style cooking
