This was an excellent place to catch a meal. We ate on the deck which has a retractable roof. The food was all delicious. We came with a large party and everyone ordered something different. No one was disappointed. The view was out over the river toward Harrisburg with wonderful vistas. I'd highly recommend this place whether you're going here for a casual lunch or a family dinner. Five stars!

Dear Duke's, you have all the bones of a great restaurant but the food isn't very good and the service was very, very slow. This review is based on multiple visits. I plan to write a book titled, "How to Kill a French Fry", The cover will feature the cold and soggy fries from Duke's. Seriously, how can you destroy a French Fry? It's in the American Cooking 101 class - right after the chapter on mastering peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Duke's, we're expecting fresh ingredients, careful attention to preparation, and snappy service. Step up the game. I dropped $50 for two people and will not be returning.

Not the best of Dukes tonight. They stopped making their traditional 14" pizzas and our flatbread pizzas were no match. Bland and just boring; Nothing like the old Dukes pizza.. The ambiance, as always, was nice; We sat on the deck next to the water. Our onion rings were unbearably salty.. It just wasn't good..

So our waitress was definitely high because when she walked by, all i could smell was the weed. Our food wasnt great at all. I mean the menu was huge so it took awhile to even figure out what i wanted to order. I ordered a chicken sandwhich and it was just okay. It came with cole slaw and im pretty sure my cole slaw was expired because it tasted a bit sour. I also ordered a blueberry mojito and it tasted watered down. Sorry i forgot to take a pic of the food.

Emailed them on their website to set up a Christmas party for over 40 people and got no response for over a week. Stopped in today to speak with someone in person. The hostess was less than thrilled to help me and asked how many people our party would be. Came back a few mins later and said the person I needed to speak with was not there. I asked her for contact info and she just said to call back. Didn't even take any of my information or ask if I wanted to speak with someone else. She just wanted me out of her hair. I guess they don't want our business! Very unprofessional

So, I've been asking to come here for about a year and finally we came. After waiting 32 minutes, we asked who our server was. 5 minutes later someone came. She was nice but wanted to take our order that minute, when all we wanted was a drink and an appointment to start and to order when she came back. When she came back she dropped the drinks and ran. We figured she would be back, but it was another 30 minutes before that happened. We each ordered a burger and 65 minutes later they came out. They were supposed to be medium rare and were very well done. The fries were actually cold, rubbery and underdone. I couldn't believe they even served fries like that. I have it 2 stars because the burger flavor was good as was the wine slushie. We were there for 2.5 hours and didn't even finish our food because it wasn't even close to correct. I don't reccomend going here because people around us were all complaining before us. We thought they were annoying until we had the same problems....

What a beautiful view! The location is gorgeous. The food was ok. The waiter we had was good. If you want a beer and some fried appetizers this is your place. If you want a steak that is trimmed correctly then dont go to Dukes. The sign says they are hiring cooks so maybe the bus boys are filling in???

Sitting on the Susquehanna river this place offers great views. They have many outdoor seating. My meal was very good my wife did not enjoy it. The waitress was not familiar with a beer they sold and had a sign on the indoor outdoor door she went out from with the beer. Over all I liked it. Its very clean and looks like it has a great night life on the weekends.

The food here is always consistent, and the portions are generous. The view by the river can't be beat. The menu is expansive. Service can be sluggish at times but that's due to the restaurant's popularity. Other than that this is ol' reliable. None of the items on the menu are bad in my opinion, but obviously some things are better than others. The Stax are great.

The service was very fast and friendly. The outdoor seating is amazing as it's right over the river. The food I ordered was delicious. I had the Italian Stax and the chicken was very tender, the sauce tasty, and the fries well seasoned. It's a great place for families or individuals.

Food is good. But if your a black or brown person of color. Be prepared to wait on service. I went their 3 times now like a dummy but the wings are the best. Everytime I gotta go up too the front desk and ask is a server gonna take our order. So be prepared. It's sad they cater to whites as if we don't tip just as good if not better. Btw I left a 50 tip on a $58 bill

I've been looking forward to eating at this place for a while, heard some good things, but my experience was not that great. Best part about tonight's dinner was our server. I got the salmon, potatoe salad, garlic mashed potatoes, chili. First, the garlic mashed potatoes had no garlic taste at all. The potatoe salad was literally potatoes and mayonnaise, no taste whatsoever. Finally, there was no seasoning on the salmon, just some kind of jelly like topping. The chili was good, except the fact that I had a piece of meat in it that was not hamburger, but more like a piece of pot roast, or something of the like. I'm not sure if all the food is the same but this was not good. I would try the place again as the ambiance is nice. Oh, forgot to mention we asked for the appetizers (soup) to come out first before or meal and everything came out together

Beautiful location great food. The outside seating area is preferred but its smoking so you really can't enjoy it. The whole deck is large maybe seating for a 100 or more guest but it's all smoking. Which is stupid. You cant bring your children outside or If you have breathing issues like I do.

This restaurant has a really nice outdoor sitting area. The side we sat on was a bit windy so bring an extra layer if you tend to get chilly. Great views of the river and easy parking. If you are looking for a low calorie restaurant this isn't the place. However, their food is really good and has large portions. The pretzel that is on the appetizer menu is particularly delicious.

Had a great dining experience! Gary was our server. He was prompt and thorough. We sat out on the deck and had a great time watching the ducks swim by. Ordered our food- 2 burgers and a quesadilla. Everything came out hot and delicious! We decided on peanut butter pie ans chocolate cake. Let me tell you what, the peanut butter pie was the best I've had! Drinks were awesome and priced well. Champagne mojito hit the spot! Will be returning over and over again!

Duke's was wonderful!!! It's situated alongside the Susquehanna river & offers a beautiful view of the river & also of the Capitol building . It is handicap accessible and has handicap parking & a ramp. They have outdoor seating & they also have a rooftop seating area. It's a very large restaurant and is very spacious. It also has a large bar . Both the restaurant & the bar are quite busy. The waitstaff are talented, hardworking, & friendly. I don't know how they manage to carry as many trays and glasses as they do, never dropping so much as a morsel!! They have a large menu & your food comes fast & hot. I ordered an Assateague chicken sandwich with potato salad. The grilled chicken was topped with cheese, crabmeat, lettuce, tomato, & a special sauce. It was amazingly delicious, as was the homemade potato salad! My partner ordered a turkey wrap with potato salad. The turkey wrap was huge, & contained turkey, cheese, avocado & I'm not sure what else. My partner could only eat half of his wrap, but raved about how good it was. The service was incredible. Dukes has live bands performing over the Labor day weekend. I would say the menu is moderately priced. It's a great place for families, couples, singles, & groups.

The views are gorgeous and the food has always been really good... no complaints there. I HIGHLY recommend their blueberry sweet tea. It's to die for. However, the last time I was here, my waitress and I happened to use the restroom at the same time... She left without washing her hands. We left and haven't gone back since. Absolutely disgusted.

I'm sure the place is normally good but our waitress was horrible! First off the chips with our dip were stale then she got my order wrong! When I finally flagged her down my beer was empty and before I could ask for one she left i waited 20 min before she checked on us again to get a beer! And 35 min later my correct food came out! And ahe charged us full price for all the food!

A friend suggested this place so we ended up going here. He recommended getting the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. I did and it was delicious. The staff was courteous and the atmosphere was lively. There is a picturesque and scenic view of the Susquehanna River. Great place to even sit out and relax.

The overall atmosphere was pleasant enough and the staff was friendly. However the food was mediocre at best. My fiance asked for a margarita with salt and was give it with sugar...twice after asking it to be fixed. We both got burgers for dinner cooked medium to medium well, and they came out dry as bones. The chips that came with the platter were crumbs at best and the side pickle was so flaccid it needed viagra. Probably the worst dukes experience to date.

Great family meal. Our server accommodated our request for a river view, which was great to watch the sun set as the storm passed over. All the adults in our group had different variations of their Stax. All were pretty good and excellent value. One of our kids had spaghetti and meat balls, the other hot hammy sandwich. Both were really good value. The ham was delicious and i expect the meatballs were too as my 7 year old had eaten them before i even got chance to see them. The menu is pretty large, especially the drink options. My wife tried out a few of the cocktails and each one was nice enough for the price. Overall we had a good meal and experience and i would certainly recommend it to locals and visitors to the area.

Absolutely the worst service I have ever received! Waitress was in a rush the entire time. Our artichoke dip came with stale chips and the dip wasn’t very good. After repeating our order back to us 3 out of 5 dishes were correct. Waitress never apologized and tried to imply it was our fault for the incorrect orders. Manager came over and gave a fake apology and tried to agree with the waitress that all FIVE of us heard wrong! Quesadilla my daughter ordered was soggy and bland.Then I was charged an additional fee for extra fries they brought out while correcting or incorrect orders. I have NEVER not given a tip before , because I was once a waitress and understand living off of tips but this service was pathetic .

Our entire family (14 of us) went there this past mother’s day- including grand-kids; 5, 2 and 4 months old. Our waitress (Sydney H.) was very helpful, efficient and did an amazing job. She was knowledgeable and accommodating for the needs of our new mom and mom-to-be. The food came quickly, and was hot and delicious. We all had boxes of take-home food because the portion sizes are so large! At the end of the meal, we found out our waitress had only been working there for 2 weeks!! We NEVER would have known- she’s terrific! Great overall experience. Note: It was first come, first served, as they didn’t take reservations. So keep that in mind.

We went with a group of 6 people and did have to wait awhile once we were seated to get waters and place our orders. But the food was delicious, and all the portions were enough for 2 people, especially the sandwiches! The bad thing though....and a huge problem for me...is that the deck is covered in spiders! We literally had 4 large spiders blow onto our table or bodies! on their webs because the entire length of the deck is covered in webs and 1" spiders. So try not to sit too close to the edge of the deck or you might have spiders falling into your food. I really have no idea why management isn't removing them as this is an eating establishment. Just gross!

The view was beautiful from the back deck but the gnats were really bad. Our server was slow and not very friendly drinks were weak and the food was made wrong so it had to be sent back. However, I hope to go back again to see if this was just an off day.

I could not ask for more. Service was great and the menu is filled with many choices. The street tacos, fried shrimp, fried pickle and wings were perfectly prepared and served hot. Our party of 3 arrived at 6:15 without reservation and we were seated by 6:30. Sunset by the water and two great beers.

Another one of my area favorites. I love being able to sit on the deck along the river on a nice evening especially since the deck faces East so you don't have the sun beating down on you. I always always always get a crab pretzel as an appetizer. Only one time I didn't and I went home regretting it. An extremely large and varied menu reasonable prices great staff and clean. Ample free parking right across the street. You can check out anytime you like but you can never leave.

Terrible service for average food Sat down at 5. At 5:15 had to flag a server to ask her to find someone to take our order. Order was taken by 5:20 which included drinks and an appetizer as well as the meal. It wasn’t until 5:30 that we even had water. When the drinks were brought specifically asked about the appetizer because the kids were really hungry. Never heard back, never had our table checked on. Meals showed up at 5:50 and the appetizer was still missing. Then had to wait for waitress to get silverware before we could eat. Won’t be back.

We had a group dinner upstairs that was absolutely epic. A private nap, A wonderful salad bar featuring a huge bowl of real bacon, delicious dressings, and many other things. The lobster bisque was delightful. The main course included many things, highlighted by the perfectly cooked beef roast and fish, and potatoes. The apple pie to finish it off was amazing. The view of the city and river during sunset just set it all off.

The jet skiers on the river putting on their little show is awesome! Love the waterside deck. Drinks are so weak it's unbelievable and this is why they are only getting 3 stars. I mean they are WEAK! The full rack of ribs dinner on the other hand is great and with 2 sides for $19.99 is actually not a bad deal at all.

Wish I had read the current reviews before going there. I went their about 5 years ago and it was great. Decided to drive down on 5/27 because it was a nice night and wanted to sit somewhere outdoors. We got seated immediately at a table right on the water. That’s where the good experience ends. We waited 15 min for a server to come over, she took our drink order but was confused by my friends drink he had to show her the drink menu. It was literally the first drink on the cocktail menu. 10 min later drinks finally get to the table. She takes our appetizer and dinner order. 25 min goes by still wondering if we are getting an app? Well the burgers arrive no mention of the appetizer. We decided to just ignore it until we are literally done eating dinner and the dark brown burnt crisp cheesesteak egg rolls arrive. Told her we didn’t want them and sent them back. The second round of drinks was quicker and arrived in just under 10 minutes. The place was not busy!! The whole inside was empty and the deck was at most 25% full. The burger selection was completely boring. It looked like there were about 10 burgers but all they did was basically list some basic cheeseburgers and swapped out different cheeses. No specialty toppings, house made sauces or anything unique. Such a shame and I doubt I’ll go back. Forgot to mention 2 burgers ordered medium, 1 was pink the other not a trace of pink. Same exact burgers... fries were great!

We went on a Wednesday night about 5:30. Waited 45 minutes for appetizers (wings and soup) food arrived about 10 minutes later, which didn't give us time to enjoy our apps. Also, caused our table to be so crowded with plates and dishes we practically had to set our drinks in our laps! Although the French onion soup was very good, I was given a teaspoon to eat it with. When I asked for a soup spoon, our waitress rolled her eyes and clicked her tongue!

Great food and service. Went there for lunch to sit out on the deck watching the river while we ate. Got 6 wings as an appetizer. Shared a cup of chilli with my sister. For my dinner I got the heart attack burger, it had ham, bacon swiss cheese on a 1/2 lb burger with fries. It was amazing. My wife got a bowl of chilli. It was awesome. My sister got the jamaican chicken (I think that was the name) it was amazing also.

Today my family and I went to Dukes on the river in honor of my father who passed this week. (He loved this place. ) First I tried calling ahead because my family is large. 12 people today. I was told we dont accept call ahead or reservations. So we get there and we wait an hour just to be seated. Following that our server took awhile to get us drinks and she ended up messing up the wine slushy. All of this isnt a huge deal, but it took Over an hour for the food to come out, it all came at different times and almost all of it was cold. The only nice part of the evening was sitting on the water and thinking about my father. Overall I was extremely unhappy with my visit, and just can't imagine going back anytime soon if at all.

The food here was not as great as I was expecting for such a nice looking place right on the water. The atmosphere was very nice, and the waitress was superb but my food was subpar at best. Maybe it was just what I ordered, an Italian stacks, but the flavor was severely lacking and the fries were cold. There is NOTHING worse than cold fries! I did bring them home to my dogs though who seemed to enjoy them.

Huge selection of food and everything on the menu is delicious. This particular time I tried a salad. The salad had a generous portion of meat and lots of fresh greens and fruit. It was very good with or without the dressing.

Great place to eat. It is on the river so you have great views while you eat. The menu is extensive so you should have no problem finding something that interests you. The menu also has a very nice selection of adult beverages. The only negative is that the parking can be a bit challenging but well worth it.

Place with grand view of the river. If weather permitting outdoor deck is absolutely must. Menu options and portions are gargantuan. You better come hungry. My favorite restaurant in Harrisburg area.

This has to be the most inconsistent restaurant in central PA. I've gone there and the food has been outstanding, and other times it's awful. One constant is that the service is usually terrible. The deck is the big attraction, if not for it I wouldn't see a reason to go here.

Took literally an hour and a half to get seats. Which is fine they were busy but there was a whole empty section of the restaurant. We asked for indoor seating and ended up outside. One person in our party had to send their drink back because it was watery. Another person ordered a mixed drink and swears they forgot to add the alcohol. Food was decent. One of our orders was wrong and had to be sent back to redo. Essentially we showed up at the restaurant a little after 7 and did not leave until almost 11.

Great Atmosphere, friendly staff. The food was amazing. Huge portion of chicken parmesan. Pasta and shrimp, simply delicious. No room for dessert, need to go back soon, so many tempting selections on the menu.

Dukes was very good. I had a fun time here. The food was very good, the staff and server was very good and professional for a Friday night and a long wait at the door. They handled it well and the beer and food tasted fresh and good. I enjoyed my time and I will come back next time I come up that way. They also have a nice location near the river. The prices were very good too.

Saturday night, half full restaurant should have tipped us off. Sat at our table 20 min. No waitress. Had to move to the bar for service. Chris the bartender had great service skills. The food was not good. Seasonal menu, Korean beef tacos- filet no way dry and tuff. The side rice crunchy. Crab quesadillas, one quarter of the dish contained crab dip. Did over hear several employees comment the kitchen was a wreck tonight. It showed. Pair the massive menu down and what you do offer, do it well.

The menu here goes on and on, with an impressive array of beers on tap. Someone in your party needs to get the crab covered soft pretzel, which can be a meal by itself, but probably is better to share and split another meal. There are a lot of interesting burgers and sandwiches to choose from. I wanted something lighter for lunch, so I opted for the fish street tacos, which I highly recommend. The awnings provide a lot of shade for dining on the deck. There was a crowd at lunch, but we never felt rushed.

I had a fried Chicken salad. It did not disappoint. Very friendly staff. Option to eat outside by the river. Would recommend!!!
