Eating outside was a great choice. The service was great and the seasonal ravioli was a very unique blend of flavors with bbq brisket and ravioli. I was nervous about it, but it paired perfectly with the slaw on top. The Pennsylvania Chicken is one of the cheaper entrees, but don’t be fooled by lower price. It’s actually cooked really well and pairs perfectly with the rice and carrots. The flavors were great. I tried the crab cake as well, but in comparison, the chicken was the superior entree.
Best filet migion ever.
Great food and great atmosphere. Brittany was an awesome server!
Excellent food and service, fine dining.
eh. its decent, but over-hyped.
Upscale dining. The ambiance is soft and kind of old timey, pretty expensive but the food was absolutely amazing, honestly some of the best lamb I have ever had. Great service too
Awesome outdoor dining food and service 5 star. thx.
Great food great atmosphere
Good food , great staff.
Musty smell, poor ambiance, food was good, but not great. Based on the reputation, we were disappointed.
Truly fine dining! This is upscale, but has no dress code. If you wear less than country club casual/business casual you might feel under dressed. Food is great. Service is great. They have an experienced bar staff. Plenty of parking in the lot. Avoid the driveway to the scrap yard though, it's hard to turn around.
Always good food and great service
My husband and I are pretty critical of food and service; since we moved, this has been one of our new favorite places! Can't wait for our next visit...we try to go once a month (we have 2 young kids or we would go more often)!
True elegance in a dining experience. Best salmon I've ever had!!
Meal very good. Service cordial.
One of a kind restaurant
I've wanted to visit this place for a long time. Stopped in Friday night. Food was absolutely incredible. I had diver scallops, my friend had a chichen dish that was to die for. We didn't order appetizers, but the chef offered complimentary herbed bread and a small pumpkin based soup that was deletctable. We each had a different bread pudding for dessert, that again, didn't disappoint. Beautiful rooms that weren't so big that there was too much noise, and a cozy open firelplace. Wait staff offered impeccable service. Fine dining at its best.
What a gorgeous night on the patio with lightning bugs shimmering and cicadas pulsing. Better than that-- one of the best appetizers we've ever had-- lobster saffron fondue! Amazing! Samantha and the rest of the staff took exceptional care of us and delivered outstanding crab cakes and Asian inspired duck. A truly memorable and wonderful evening!
Great food. Excellent service. enjoy!
My wife, my daughter, and I needed a night to reconnect. I was looking for a great place to dine. We found it at Dan's. My daughter is a picky eater, but she decided to try the escargot..... she loved it. I had the mushroom soup....spectacular. Then my wife and daughter had the filet mignon.... they enjoyed every bite. I had the rack of lamb....exquisite. The desserts were great as well. I saw both owners working in the dining area which was impressive. I was gushing with joy all night and I highly recommend Dan's to everyone. My sincerest thanks to all of the staff at Dan's....you made our night very special. We will return again.
Best steak. Every thing was great.
The best
It was our first visit to Dan's and it will not be our last. We had a excellent waitress who was very attentive, everything from the appetizers to the main course to dessert where excellent. We are looking forward to our next visit.
Great place for the area Great service and food which is hard to find both in the area as well. Would recommend as a date night spot or somewhere to go if you are looking to relax when you eat.
We had a great time .we are looking forward to going back.
Great food. The price point is high and is probably the reason this place is not over booked. We split a salad appetizer and an entree it was 31 per person. If they brought down their prices they'd be booked months in advance. Food was superb!
Beautiful outdoor patio, wonderful ambience, great food and service.
a delightful french restaurant in reading, pa. the foie gras is to die for. a nice and reasonably priced wine list. this is worth a drive.
My wife and I tried this place for the first time yesterday. The food and service is absolutely top notch. Can’t wait to go back.
Great food, great service. Upscale but great pricing. Have had steak, chicken, risotto, pumpkin soup and more. All delish. Great ambience as well. My wife and I go often.
outstanding sweet potato soup was to die for!
Made phone res. with one of the owners for birthday dinner in the Garden room- when we arrived he denied getting our reservation and said that he had subsequently rented the whole room anyway. We ended up going to Judys on Cherry in Reading for the first time and had a wonderful meal & service!
Great service. Manager is actively seeking nothing but subpar attention. Didn't have food. Definitely a great atmosphere.
We have enjoyed fine dining all over the world. Dan's equals the best!
My wife and I were looking for a different place to dine then our normal spots. I was impressed with this place. They seated us in back room over looking the creek. Great view. My wife ordered pork tenderloin and I crab cakes. Both were hot and delicious. I also ordered sweet potato soup that was wonderful. For dessert wife had bread pudding and I creame brulee. The only part of our visit that was disappointing was Waitress never mention name and did not mention specials. Which resulted with a 4 star rating. Deffently will go back.
Beautiful location, wonderful wait staff, high-end attention and classic cuisine with a 4 star menu. Great wine selection and an elegant overall experience. With the extra $$ for a nice relaxing evening or place to impress the in-laws or out-of-town guests!
We had to eat in a rush, as on way to an event. Lovely ambience and server excellent. Lamb and scallops cooked perfectly but accompanied with too many overpowering flavors. Lamb had raw shredded cabbage, mustard and ?green sauce. Pesto perhaps.
Consistently delicious and welcoming.
Excellent food and wine. Waiter was a bit "stuffy".
My parents and I ate at Dans at Green Hills for Thanksgiving. The pumpkin bisque soup was amazing! It was like heaven in a cup. The food overall is spectacular. The servers were wonderful. I would highly recommend going there. You won't regret your experience.
Wonderful meal. Great service. Great atmosphere. Staff was outstanding.
Exceptional food & service. Highly recommend!
This past Saturday night my husband and I, along with another couple went to Dan's to celebrate our Anniversaries. We started with the most amazing Martinis, followed by mouth-watering appetizers, dinner was scallops for 2 of us, chicken penne pasta by another and crab cakes for one more. Topped off with dessert I wish I could give Dan's 10 stars! Nice to have an exquisite local restaurant to wine and dine with great friends. We will be back.
Went to Dans at Green Hills for a private event on the patio and was blown away. The service was very good. The food was simply extraordinary. I had a filet mignon medium rare. It came out and I was shocked at its size. Enormous. Tender. Juicy. The mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts were delicious. I don't know how you make Brussels sprouts delicious, but they figured it out.
Excellent food. Friendly staff. A little pricey.
Hervorragende Küche im gehobenen Bereich. Super Service und eine Ambiente die ein Traum ist. Sehr empfehlenswert!
Had a fantastic server name Jennifer. So professional and made the first experience at Dan's a wonderful first visit for many more!
Great place! Yummy food, quaint place!
Great atmosphere, food and service
Great food, excellent service, and a beautiful atmosphere. Definitly worth a visit.
Really nice and cosy place. Great food. Rack of lamb is divine. Everything is. Took my Dad there for Father's Day, he was very impressed! That made me and my wife feel great. Excellent service.
We Food was excellent as always.
Excellent
Best food best service .compliments to the chef!
Great food and atmosphere.
Super-good food. Reasonable wine pricing. Sweet potato soup is best-of-the-best. Ideal for special occasions.
Great place to dine.
Was there for a pharmaceutical presentation tonight. The food was excellent and there's no skimping on portions. Staff was attentive and helpful
First, anyone who doesn't think this is a 5 star restaurant, probably doesn't travel much. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is great. We will 1.5 hours away but are already planning our return. Get the chicken penne, trust me. Love this place.
Delicious food, great service, but martini was watered. The filet mignon and crab cake were perfectly cooked and the roasted carrots, and potatoes were good. The mushroom soup was very tasty. The chocolate cake dessert was excellent. I would have given 5 stars but for the martini being watered.
This is the best place to eat in Reading !! The service is amazing, the food is amazing. The only downside is the menu doesn't change. Like most upscale restaurants be prepared for dinner to take time. This is a must go place.
Never have had a bad experience at Dan's!
New to the area, we were looking for an upscale dining location and found it here. 1st experience was excellent with a Seafood Mac & Cheese to die for. Never had it before and request it everytime I call. ( unfortunately it's a special). 2nd time was a different choice but also excellent. This has become a favorite place for deliciously prepared food. Servers are very friendly and owners chat with the patrons. Very cool. . . 5 star.
Very nice atmosphere, great staff, and the food was delicious. Worth the trip .
My fiancee and I found this place by googling date night places in reading. We decided to try it and so glad we did! The service is excellent. It's quiet enough where you can talk without having a hard time hearing. The wines are reasonably priced. The entrees a bit more expensive but so worth it, everything we had was delicious. And the portion sizes were perfect too! We will definitely be back! We have already talked about making this a regular date night location for us. This is a wonderful place!
Food was very good
Amazing, fine dining atmosphere with a delicious menu and fantastic drinks. The staff is professional, courteous, and kind. I can't recommend this restaurant enough.
Good food and atmosphere.
What can i say, A big wow! “Best of all!” “Best in Pennsylvania” “An evening to remember" “A very special Dinner!" “Great service and awesome food”
My girlfriend and I were there for Valentine's Day . It was our first time dining there. And let me tell you that it was perfect. The rooms are nicely decorated. The wait staff was very prompt and were a great help with questions about the menu. For our dinner we started with the seared tuna Nicoise. It was outstanding. Seared to perfection and served with capers, potatoes olives green beans hard boiled farm egg and leafy greens. The main course consisted of a Chilean sea bass special served encrusted with pistachio with a pomegranate reduction sauce and sided with risotto, sliced apple and fig. My girlfriend ordered the crab cakes. Served pan seared with lots of crab meat. Sided with a corn scallion fritter, herb salad, and remoulade. Everything tasted delicious. Perfectly seasoned. For dessert we decided on the creme brûlée. This was possibly the best we have ever had. Rich and creamy with a sugar crust over the top. We will definitely be back again Thank you to everyone that made our dining experience absolutely wonderful.
Our first time there and everything was perfect. We were actually going to go somewhere else but decided last minute to try Dans, so glad we did. The food was so delicious I ate very slowly savoring every bite. Everyone was so nice. Definitely going back.
Great place. Like another gentleman said - the best restaurant in the Reading area, 100%
Quality Service. Very Attentive. Would have liked more dressing available as an option for my salad. My Salmon was rather bland, but the presentation was appealing!
My husband and I love it there. The sevice is flawless. We go on special occasions and always feel soecial!
We have dined here many times & have always experienced superior service and wonderful dishes. The staff is always great & very attentive, the entrees are delicious and very satisfying. During this last visit we had the Crab Cakes and Pork Tenderloin, words can't do it justice. You simply have to try it for yourself.
Top quality all the way
Very quaint and intimate place to eat. Excellent customer service. The sweet potatoes soup was done to perfection. Our main courses did not fall short of flavor and taste. Management was very attentive to us and their other customers.
Food is on the pricier side but welll worth it.
Great food
My wife's family eat at Dan's every Christmas Eve. I ordered the filet mignon which was done perfectly, despite the fact the place was packed for dinner. Others in our party made requests to customize their dinners which was no problem at all. We had a great experience. I have never had a bad meal here and have eaten here for about twenty-five years. Love this place!
Easily the best restaurant in Berks County.
If your looking for the best atmosphere and most delicious dinner you've ever had. Then you're at the right place. You won't be disappointed.
Service was good. Good quality was good. Menu was sufficient but prices are excessive. A bill of $300+ is excessive. Won't be back.
The finest in Berks County.
We recently held a retirement dinner that included 30 guests at "Dan's at Green Hills"... We were able to book a separate room for the event so that we would not disturb other diners... The food and service was excellent... The staff was flexible, attentive, and made the event complete success... Thank you to Bill, Monir, and Staff...
My husband and I were at Dan's for our anniversary on April 22nd and everything was amazing! The martini was delightful as well as the wine. We had the cauliflower soup and a crab cake for an appetizer and they were both very delicious. We had filet and rack of lamb for our entree's and they just melted in your mouth! Oh, we also had dessert since it was our anniversary but really didn't have room for it and actually had to leave some on our plates. Plenty of food with a nice presentation and wonderful taste! We will definitely be back and would recommend it to all our friends.
I debated about making this post, but thought the establishment should know how disappointed we were with our first experience and unfortunately probably our last. My husband and I were celebrating my birthday. The place is gorgeous (except the Ladies restroom could use some paint), and we were seated in the back room. A young woman came to our table and offered us water (all options available) and asked us what we wanted to drink. She never once introduced herself or said welcome or anything. I thought she was a bus girl. We had her come back to take a drink order because we were still deciding. When she returned, we were ready to order our meal as well. She said she would take our order at that time. I then asked if there were any specials, she said there were, and proceeded to tell us them, after I had to ask. Our first course of the house salad was very good. I ordered the diver scallops which were very good, but lukewarm. The owner or manager had asked us a couple times if everything was good, and I didn’t want to send my entree back at that point because they were very busy and I didn’t want my husband to have his food and me nothing. I like my food hot or at least warm. My husband had the strip steak which was very good, but not the best cut of meat. Fortunately, he is not a big eater and was sharing his steak with me because my portion was small. We then ordered a bourbon and creme brûlée which was burned. Our waitress offered to get us another one and the creme part was not very good, so I said no and she did take that off our bill. We left still not knowing our waitresses name and were very under impressed.
Fine dining, period
Fiance and I had dinner here last night for the first time. Everything was higher than expected. Amazing service and food. This is the best dining experience we have ever had locally. Our meals steak and fish were prepared perfectly and tasted amazing. We will definitely go back here.
I have dined here twice, and it was excellent both times. I had the best Veal chop if ever tasted there.
Superb experience. Great service from the moment we walked in .Delicious classy food. Great place for a special evening
Our party of nine was seated in a private room. The service was excellent with special care given to our grandson's order due to his allergy to peanut and tree nuts. The food and beverages were excellent. A wonderful dining experience. Will see you again.
Came here for the first time tonight for our anniversary dinner. Heard great things and Dan's did not disappoint. Everything was absolutely excellent. The service was impeccable, our first course was delicious and entrees were delectable. My wife had the spring salad and sea scallops and I had the crab cake appetizer and NY strip. Of course we tried each other's food and we we're both impressed. Everything was cooked and prepared perfectly. For dessert we had coffee and shared the apple crumble, also very good. The perfect ending to a spectacular meal. We will definitely be back!
