I can't say enough good about this place. It's a culinary delight. If you don't know what to get, just ask, they are excellent guides. If you like spice, get the mixed pickle.

Has no chaat options and chai is soo mediocre. Such a waste of time. Channa chaat is cold. Come on who does that.

Eclectic menu and superb pop-culture decor. Best chai I've had outside India and delicious food, reasonably priced. Can't complain really :)

Hated this place worst service and worst food and waste of time

Great ambience, very friendly hosts, very vegan friendly. Since they had just opened, some items on the menu were not available, but the bhel puri and the bread basket were delicious. On the minus side, the chaats are quite expensive for being the cheap street food that it is inspired by. The samosa chaat especially was small, the bhel puri serving was larger.

We went and picked up take out from this place. We had ordered the channa chaat and the bhel puri - fairly standard chaat options at Indian restaurants. We had called ahead, and the food was ready to be picked in a timely manner. This was good since there isn't any on site parking, so had to illegally street park for a few minutes so we could quickly run and in out of the establishment. The ambiance inside looks fun and casual - perfect for lunch or dinner The space is hipster-ish, with bright walls and intimate seating. The decor has eastern influences, and there are some authentic la carte items for sale at the register (Thumps Up soda anyone =D). I was expecting a little more from this place from the reviews on Yelp. The food was "meh" at most. Both chaat items were missing the sev which is the best part! The spice level was bland and the dishes required some ad hoc home additions to spice up the taste. I don't think there was anything necessarily wrong with how the food was prepared, more the taste and execution of the dishes were sub par for Indian food (and my palate.) We also got some iced chai which was more milk than anything else. I was hoping they'd add more masala to get that "wake me up" feeling. If I HAD to...I would probably give this place one more shot, this time as a dine in experience in case the other menu options live up to the other reviews. Otherwise there is probably better fare elsewhere.

I just moved to the area, but this has quickly become my new favorite spot. In my first week here I've gone three times with different groups of friends and family, and they all loved it. The charm of the restaurant is definitely in the staff and the décor, but the food is what will keep you coming back for more. It's not what most people will be expecting when they think Indian food, because it is Chaat (small plates and curry bowls), but you definitely won't be disappointed. My favorite dish is the kerala short rib, which is served on paratha folded like a taco shell. For drinks, I suggest the mango lassi and the chai (their traditional recipe or try the current special). If you want a drink, make sure to bring a bottle of wine, it's BYOB.

This place has been reduced in size and now only serves take out. Chaai was tasty. It's in a food court with a lot of options. Paneer bowl is also good.

Nalla!!!! Excellent Food! Excellent Service! Highly Satisfied! Beautiful Ambience! If you are in South Philadelphia on Snyder Avenue, this is a must go! The owner is extremely charming, friendly, and sweet ;)!!! Also the Waitress was extremely helpful and friendly! This is the Indian Gem of South Philadelphia!

There was one chaat on the menu. The Chana chat is more like a cold bean salad with some spices than chaat. Chai was just a mediocre sweet drink. Not what you expect from a place called chaat and chai. Service was just ok.

Aicha Ly

Great atmosphere! The place is delightful and makes you feel happy and at peace. Wonderful service, the waitress was super friendly and attentive. Most important, the food is really great. I highly recommend the Samosa Chaat. Love that I found this place right in my neighborhood!
