You may have noticed that it has an average rating is almost the highest, and it's based on a very large number of scores, so we can think that the evaluation is very reliable. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to set opinions when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of Gastropub.
Recently held a rehearsal dinner upstairs for around 25 guests from infants to 83 year old. Bonnie was extremely diligent in every detail I requested and worked with our menu requests, set up and service was superior.
It feels like I’m in my own backyard more than it feels like the 5/5 star drink and eat destination that Sardine is. This place is awesome. It’s worth the trek across the city, and it’s worth the added stop home after a good night. Must try. Get the fried chicken sandwich.
Fantastic place to grab a bite to eat plus the upstairs bar is available for rent.
Nice local gastropub with good selection of beers on tap and food
Great selection of beers and they make an excellent Manhattan! Food is really good too! The menu changes often and without notice, so if you like something, order it as often as you can because it may not be there the next time (the fries are the exception)!
I love this bar & the food never disappoints. Not sure if I like this fried chicken sandwich or the $5 one on the fountain porter secret menu better. Friendly staff here and good music. One of my favorite bars.
Tomato sandwhich's are bomb, drink menu is hard to read
Awesome, real Philly bar. Friendly, good food with attentive but easy going service.
Good food and expansive selection of draft beer.
Good local neighborhood place. Friendly staff. Good beer. Good fries.
Great service
Didn’t eat but had a few drinks and enjoyed it, really nice bartender
Great place for Sardine
This place is great. I have been to a few functions on the second level so i decided to have my bday celebration there. Unfortunately I did not book the second level and there was a private party. I had about 20 - 25 people crammed on the first floor and the wait staff were so accommodating. In particular, a girl named Heather who was a true soldier. She got us a table and we managed to infiltrate sections of the bar. That is just brilliant. Everyone was impressed and I think it's obvious to say we will all be back!!!
The upstairs is the best- quieter and great service. The food is inventive and comforting at the same time. Great beer selection, good cocktails.
This place has become my go to local spot. Great food great happy hour plus 3$ Kenzos all day and night fam!
Cool neighborhood bar with great food and beer selection. Very vegetarian and vegan friendly
If you enjoy diverse people & IPA ' S come on down and throw one back
Great atmosphere, you can actually hear your friends while sitting here. The food and drinks are good, vegan friendly options.
Best sandwiches in south philly. Always a good beer option, and great outdoor seating that is dog friendly. Staff can be great if they're in the mood!
Great food, beer, service, and a cool place!
Incredible food and beer, wish we had better luck with service.
Excellent local pub that has a great outdoor area for those nice nights! Great rotating selection of beers, solid service and great atmosphere. The only thing I haven’t been blown away by is the food, it just hasn’t done it for me and I’ve tried a ton of food (don’t get me wrong a few items I enjoyed) but I think this is where they could really step it up.
Best neighborhood bar/restaurant! Great drinks! Great food!
Top notch sandwiches and cans.
Great little neighborhood bar with fun bar food, beautiful outdoor seating and a great selection of tap beers.
Always amazing service, menu is always changing with cool new items and food is great
Late night happy hours rules
Very cool place, not very many seats, REALLY interesting menu
I come here all the time! If you come Saturday between 10-2pm & Sunday after church then expect craziness! The line to order moves super fast but it's finding a table after that is sometimes challenging. Parking here is always difficult. This is my go to brunch place when entertaining anyone since the menu is so big with yummy drinks and even alcoholic coffee!
This is a cool Point Breeze neighborhood bar. Loved the fried squash (zippy) but menu is quirky (seasonal but without a lot of description). The A/C under performs but the staff and city-wide can't be beat.
One of the best rotating draft selections in the city. Killer can list. Food is fantastic as well, with rotating menu items. Chill vibe, great beer, good food. A must stop on any Philly Brew Pub tour
I have been a somewhat frequent patron of Sardine Bar - until last night. I walked in for my birthday with a group of about 8 people for a few rounds a little after midnight on 4/13. I had extremely bad hiccups, as I do sometimes, and needed water really badly. I asked for water once and was totally ignored. Frustrated, I asked my boyfriend to ask the other bartender for water, and he insisted on carding us for water. My boyfriend was like "I literally just turned 40 a few days ago, I really need water and a ginger ale for my girlfriend and her hiccups" and the bartender gave a really sarcastic "congratulations". I was so overwhelmed by the rudeness and how long I had to wait in really bad pain for a simple glass of water (I'm not joking, when I get hiccups they HURT, it becomes a medical issue) that I started crying and had my whole party take two taxis back to my friend's house. We were going to have a couple rounds, which I presume would've made the bar a decent amount of money, but you can trust that I'll never go to this bar again. Also, don't rename neighborhoods. It's disrespectful to the longtime residents.
Cool place, young crowd. Sardines are boney but the staff works hard.
Great bar! Definitely making it one of my go to spots. Amazing atmosphere to just talk and drink with an amazing selection of beer and food too ! On top of all that also great service !
FOOD WAS FANTASTIC! Looking for good food you CAN'T find anywhere else look no further try it. There some different combinations of food but boy did enjoy my meal. Food was ordered and came to the table in less than 20 minutes and there was 10 of us that ordered and the plate came out, all at the same time.
This place has a great beer and cocktail selection, large outdoor space (if you don't mind a few mosquitos), and fantastic food. The spicy chili wings and chicken sandwich were amazing. Despite giving the place it's name, I'd probably skip the sardines next time.
Always a treasure and the menu changes frequently to keep it fresh. Always a variety of vegetarian & vegan options.
Awesome cosy place to have a bite and a fantastic selection of beers. Definitely try their Grilled, Sauteed, and fried sardines with a side of salt and pepper fries. Also, they recently added a grilled Nutella as dessert, which I highly recommend.
My new home..
Food is always spectacular
Love this place. Has a great selection of beers on draft and in bottle. Nice long bar and outside seating area in the warmer months. A hidden gem!
I have lived in True Point Breeze since 2006. American Sardine has Excellent, friendly service with no judgements or snooty attitudes like some of other new bars around here, these guys got good food and aren't being extra blatant about running the indigenous S. Philadelphians outta the neighborhood.
Definitely my favorite Point Breeze spot. The menu is always top notch...simple comfort food just made really really well. The menu also changesee fairly often which is great but sometimes you miss that great entree you had the month before. Draft list is always on point and gotta love the $3 Kenzinger.
Never disappoints. Brunch options there are fantastic. Those tater tots are really good.
Possibly the best pub food in Point Breeze and the best outside dining area. Very friendly service staff too.
Classy spot with great small plates and drink selection. Thanks for replying! Great to see businesses follow up on reviews. ☺️
Very rude people here. Would never return again. The staff is very aggressive and threatens physical violence.
Best sardines ever! Great collection of beers Especially the seasonal rotations
It's a good little bar with tasty food and a nice beer list. I always have fun here.
One of our favorite places to go for beer and food. The rotating menu is consistently great, and as a bonus tends to be friendly to common dietary restrictions. The tables are self-seating, which can be a bit confusing the first time or two. If there aren't any tables in the main room, check upstairs too (usually open when things get busy).
I enjoyed the difference sardines. My favorite is the grilled. I like the brussel sprouts that came with the saute one. We went on a sat, after 1. It was packed. The bartender was kept busy. He was friendly.
Great neighborhood bar and restaurant. Stayed in Philly for a week and ate there 3 times.
Great lunch menu. Good service, great outdoor patio space. Kitchen was a little slow but when the food came out the wait was well worth it. I will be back with my wife and enjoy a few of the great beer choices.
Love this place, great food an awesome selection on tap. Would come here more often however, last night was treated very disrespectfully by staff upon entering the bar. Not the first time this has happened with the same staff member. Very rude, unwelcoming and almost belittling, which I do not appreciate as I live near by and really enjoy coming here.
Great local bar
Ok so here's the deal, sardine bar is a smaller hip bar and sometimes it may be hard to find a seat but lemme tell ya the Service is insanely good. The Second your behind hits the seat you have someone helping you right on out. The food
This is a great place to go when you want to relax. The outdoor section makes for an excellent "picnic" experience. Make sure you have extra time to hangout and take your time.
I really dig this spot. It’s a great hang on weeknights, and an amazing place for weekend brunch. Always a friendly staff, good draft selection, and good jams playing all day. They also have a nice variety of seating options, with an upstairs area and outside seating for when it’s nice out. You don’t get menus, as they are ever changing with their food and drink options. What I can say is get the Brunchwrap Supreme if you’re uncertain of their other brunch options, is a nice quantity of food and super delicious. They only serve brunch on the weekends.
Love, love, LOVE this place. Easily the best bar in the city. Great beer list, AMAZING food, and knowledgeable staff make this an easy recommendation to anyone looking for a fun time!
Great selection of craft beer. Bartenders know there beer and how to pour properly. Food is excellent. Menu changes at times.
Great food and beer! Prices and portions are appropriate. Also a good selection of beers to choose from.
Went on a 20 minute Tinder date here; the dude was trash but OH MY GOD THIS BAR IS GORGEOUS
Housin Sloppy Joe is danksauce
Never a great menu for a vegetarian, and won't let you modify the meals. Also, you can no longer have dogs on the back patio, so no point in going there in the summer for me. Great beer list though!
Great beer selection, a variety of food selections. Great neighborhood spot. The vegan cheesesteak is actually pretty good, the onion rings our great. The sardines are unique but not the highlight of the meal. They have an upstairs as well as an outdoor seating area. Good spot for a weekend meal.
You have to read the menu on the chalkboard. Otherwise, the beer selection is okay. The food is pretty good. I had meatloaf one day. The burgers are good also.
Stopped here for dinner on a Sunday evening before a concert. Almost passed the place on my first go-by, honestly, but noticed a neon fish sign in a window and figured that must be it. Parked my bike and sat myself inside at a window table. Waitress was helpful when I said I'd never been there before; I ended up ordering the vegan Buffalo wing hoagie, some eggplant fries, and a pint of a beer called Monkey Knife Fight. All in all, some very good choices on my part! Satisfying to a point where I might have preferred to save a few bites for later, if not for the fact that I wouldn't have been able to bring the leftovers with me at the next venue. The American Sardine Bar is a great place for dinner and a drink, and I'd love to drag some of my friends along with me if I end up in that part of town again! Maybe it'll be warm enough to take advantage of the outdoor seating next time.
I love pj and annie
Great food, craft beer and cocktails, in a cozy space. Parking can be a challenge, but that's not their fault.
The American Sardine bar is great. They change their menu often and I have yet to have something I didn't like. They always have a good selection of beer and make pretty decent cocktails. I also really like the outside seating area they have. I just wish they had TV's so I could go there to watch sports. However they probably don't have TV's for that reason. The only real issue I have with this bar is that the beer menu can be hard to read from some spots and I often have to take a picture so I can read it comfortably.
No dogs allowed. This place used to be cool but now that all this money has come into the area it's definitely changed. Can't have your dog outside anymore and the whole atmosphere is a little snooty now. It's a shame. I used to bring everyone here and they all loved it. But I guess we'll go elsewhere. All the grungy hipsters disappeared and now it's just another center city bar.
Great establishment with really cool workers. Looking for a spot to chill for a while? Here is the place to be, and while here having lunch or late evening bite have a refreshing fountain soda specially delivered by Vineland Syrup driver Donnie
I’m rating 5 stars because I am here frequently and I honestly love this place! The food never disappoints and I can always come in knowing there will be something I like on the menu. My only complaint is a singular bartender who is a red head with a beard. The last time he helped us, I’m pretty sure he assumed we weren’t gonna tip because we wanted to get a few happy hour items in before it ended in 15 minutes. But we had every intention on ordering second rounds, food, sides, the works. As someone who works in the industry, I know it’s hard to tell the kind of patrons you will have, but to make such a bold assumption to the point that he ignored us and his bar back did all the work for him, is unacceptable. This server should really be re-evaluated because my sister, who is also a frequent at Sardine Bar also has had a bad experience with him. Other than him, I absolutely love this place!
Local beers were great! Also the outdoor seating is a perfect way to chill on a good night.
The most unprofessional people in the business. The bartenders are rude, we felt as though we were doing them a favor being there. We usually NEVER, the first time actually, review. After giving them several tries with and without friends and staff, they never fail to disappoint with their bar staff. Maybe they should re-evaluate the people who represent their establishment. We always support our local businesses, not this one unfortunately. I only gave them a star because I was not given any other option.
Incredible food. Great beer list as well
Love this place. Super friendly, great food and atmosphere.
They need a better software management for shared payments. Good food and beer.
Loved the variety of food and beverage here. Great find.
Cool spot in the middle of it
my favorite fries in Philadelphia. awesome rotating beer and food selection. the chef kills every dish
One of the best bars to go to in the point breeze area. It's an oasis with great food and booze. Very nice beer selection.
I was surprised by what this place offers to those who like to enjoy having a drink or two on a weekday afternoon. A lot of items to check on their menu board. Staff were helpful. Nice, clean interiors!
Food was duhlicious and the service was on point. We shared the sauteed sardine and the wings. She had the sweet potato falafel and I had the steak sandwich. We equally enjoyed both. The old fashioned drinks were really good. The vibe upstairs is a bit like an American Legion feel if ya know what I mean but still a good time. I really like the outside seating in the summertime. Will definitely return.
decent beer selections and excellent food. We we're disappointed that they ran out of sardines for the day. nice ambiance.
They dont pour cheap here. :-)
My favorite place to be whenever I'm in South Philly. The menu seasonally rotates and they have an excellent beer selection. Staff is friendly enough and the space is great.
So groovy! Five Sardines!
Last pic from National Cheesesteak Day!! I love this place for all of it’s non-traditional pizza shop cheesesteak’ness!! I just googled American Sardine bar to see if I could hijack a professional description of their awesome creation and saw the ‘Salted Caramel Bread Pudding.’ I absolutely LOVE the American Sardine Bar. The couple next to me got the Brussels Sprouts, they looked amazing. Sorry American Sardine bar, I hate to kill your hip vibe but I will be back. Good news is I will be bringing Carole. PS ASB doesn’t kill you on price.
Awesome fried chicken sandwich, and an enormous portion of onion rings.
Great bar. Super friendly staff.
I love this place. They have a great menu with vegetarian and vegan options. There are always good beer on tap, and creative mixed drinks as well. The outdoor patio is superb for a good-weather hangout. Great local spot.
My neighborhood haunt. Fantastic beer selection, delicious sandwiches, and an absolutely amazing brunch. Shout out to Eric, the best bartender you'll ever meet.
Wonderful bar with new great food every time I go
Always surprisingly good. Great atmosphere and outdoor seating with fires in the winter.
Good happy hour specials, rotating draft selection, and solid food.
Good beer selection with a tasty seasonal menu.
Great food for such a small kitchen! Our bartender was amazing. Forget his name but he wore a cap and glasses. And he kept great music playing all evening.
Original menu idea that were delicious. Plenty of vegan choices. Fun atmosphere.
Though I was exhausted when here, was a really cool spot. Solid menu and nice drink selections.
Fun place, something very clever about offering good fresh sardines prepared differently, at a nominal prices, with good vibes. Unfortunately, they would not let me bring my doggy into the back outdoor space--why not? It belies the fun casual groove they seem to want to be cultivating. And for us dog people, it is reason enough not to come back...reconsider!
Awesome people, great food, sneaky-good drinks
Energetic young crowd, good beer selection. Great food and I want t the pickle sauce recipe!
Excellent food, service, atmosphere... I've been here 4 times and I'm gonna keep coming
Cute place...just not my cup of tea!
Classic!!! The falafels are amazing, the spicy sauce is hot hot hot, way too hot to actually be enjoyable, and the lamb chwarma is the bomb!! Babaganoush galore and yummy hummus. The food is delicious, it tastes even better when you are drunk. Definitely a village staple and a quick cheap eat for the traveling bugs :)
Great neighborhood spot with amazing food and a pleasant outdoor patio
Cute place, especially the outdoor area. The food menu changes constantly, giving their patrons something new. The menu does tend to be a little basic, but disguised under a complicated "dish name." Overall, it's a good local establishment.
Always a perfect lineup of food and selection of craft beers and liquors. The BEST summer spot!
Love this place. I have to stop here every time I'm in Philly. Great food and an amazing beer selection.
Good beer amazing food! And pokemon! Will be back!
My favorite neighborhood bar in Phila. Best food and never ending beer rotation. Always have me coming back for more. Love this place!
It’s what’s up
Food was ok at best. Onion rings were the best part of it, but again, can't really go wrong with those.
The food was really good, but the set up is weird and kind of inconvenient. There are no printed menus, instead you have to order off a chalk board menu. The menu was not visible from the seat we were in and had to stand in front of it to decide what we want. Two of the servers we encountered (neither of whom were our main server, who was great) seemed annoyed we didn't understand the system already. Overall, my impression is that this bar caters to their regular customers, and doesn't seem interested in adding to that.
Very welcoming neighborhood bar with extremely eclectic atmosphere. The variety of beers and the quality of the food makes one comfortable bringing pretty much anyone do this bar at a moment's notice. Very representative of a neighborhood in transition, the effort extending hospitality to all that enter exceeds expectations.
Great selection of craft beers and relaxed atmosphere. Outdoor seating in good weather. Unusually tasty food (yes, sardines sauteed, planked, grilled etc are on the menu) and decent selection for vegetarians too. Prices slightly uncomfortable but still a great place to grab a bite and have that looonnng conversation.
I thought it was just a name, but nope they have sardines. Good sardines too. We had a group of 7 and everyone agreed their meal was great.
We where on a job. The boss ate there, I didn't.... He said it was okay...
Within the first five minutes of being here I was told to move several times by an employee. I was told not asked to move outside. So we did. Once outside I was told I was in the way again and this was Their space to walk and move. There wasn't enough seating for the group that was meeting for a social event. Otherwise. Good beer
Food is excellent and the employees are great! Very nice and friendly!
Your average corner dive bar. Food is great. Drink options are limited for liquor but fantastic for beer snobs.
Excellent pub grub in a classic American neighborhood setting. Best thing that's ever happened to Point Breeze. The chicken sandwich and the fries are to die for. Highly recommended.
Their draft beer selection was varied and I found one that I thoroughly enjoyed. Being a vegetarian, I always look for a menu with vegetarian options, and they had a few. The oe disappointment was their Antipasto. It wasn't even vaguely close to an antipasto. .. it was just a salad served in a salad bowl.
Really cool place-friendly bar staff, delicious fresh sardines. You could easily go in and spend $10 and leave full and happy-or spend $40 and do the same. It would be a great place to take friends who aren't all on the same wavelength when it comes to spending money.
Yummy food and good drinks. Only complaint is that it gets a little hot in there during the summer times. We went three times during the summer and the AC was broken.
Food was good but sardines lacked salt
They would get a 5 star if they offered more gluten free options.
This place is always good, especially if you're on a budget.
Great food, excellent drink selection. Craft beers, decent wine and good cocktails. Chill vibe. Awesome neighborhood bar. Also, yes, the menu had sardines.
Beer and grilled sardines. Yes please. Fire pit on the back patio for cool autumn nights.
It provides very delicious bar food and good vegan options.
Love this place. The food is great (I love their vegetarian options) , good beer selection, and a fun outdoor beer garden too.
I used to come here all the time and it was all good. But you come now and there's this big dude who eats all the time and never comes over to say a word. He washes the bottles but not the shelf they sit on. Used to have great staff, but it seems now the staff are into themselves. Now he changes the music in mid stream. I tell him I like the song and he was like "no no". This guy truly had his favorites and if you didn't know him even if you were the only one there you were ignored. Then he took my check and wouldn't bring my change...really weird!
The Japanese Cheese steak is bliss. The Falafel is better.
The only spot for lunch/dinner in the neighborhood for me. Best thing is, they offer vegan-friendly options which is a PLUS. The Cheese Wiz (seasonal item?) was surprisingly good, first time I've had a vegan cheesesteak and I am fully satisfied! Friendly service. And I love the outdoor seating area, great for a chill meal with friends during the summertime.
One of the best spots for beer and grub in the city. We stop in any time we're around. The staff couldn't be more friendly and accommodating!
Great food. Great beer. The menu changes frequently but is always great. Do not forget to enjoy the small bites. I love the pickled eggs, pickles, and fried sardines
The salt and pepper fries with pickle dip were amazing, good beer selection too
They have good food and a wide selection of beers. Unfortunately the vibe in the restaurant has become more bro-y and for being in a diverse neighborhood the bar is incredibly white. I'd like to see them do more to make it a welcome environment for all of the neighborhood.
Cool food, great beer selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff.
This was the perfect spot to have brunch and a beer after a hectic week, little sleep, and a lot of stress and exhaustion. All the employees were lovely, the food was delicious, the vegan options were extensive, the beer is was great, and the place looked really cool. Bonus: the weather outside was perfect for outdoor dining, but the downside to that is the attack of the wasps. (Luckily the wasps showed up at the end of the meal... They were quite interested in the leftover meat and eggs but didn't seem to care for any leftover vegan food ;)
Great bar with a good selection of craft beers from the usual suspects. More of a neighborhood spot -- there are plenty of equally good bars in Philly; but if you happen to be in this corner of Philly it's easily the best bar within a 15 minute walk.
Great staff and nice place to eat. The food isn't too inspired, but it's definitely tasty and large portions. The sardine theme is welcome, niche spot in the market. Good beer selection, though it would be nice if they focused a lot more on the amazing local scene.
Great beer selection, and friendly staff! The cheesesteak is great here!
Lovely place, huge portions for a tourist! Enjoyed the philly steak sandwich and some massive onion rings. Nice vibe.
The service is kind, generous, expedient and just all around great. The food is exceptionally delicious and more affordable than you'd expect for being so good! It's a great place as well for drinking buddies, get-togethers and birthdays. Although I was just stopping through to charge my phone and just had a sandwich in between on-call work at night, all the drinking friends around me were having great times like this together =) Give Sardine Bar your money, they are wonderful!
Quirky and comfortable. Great place to chill
Chicken masala dip is really awesome along with some good options for beer drinkers
Great neighborhood bar with fantastic seasonal food menu.
This place always has the best food and as a non drinker it's a great place to hang where my friends can get bougee beers and I can get good food. The upstairs is super cozy too
Bleh, don't know how this place is on Philly Mags top 50. Our waitress was rude and lazy. The food was only ok. Won't be going back.
One of my favorite bars in Philly...don't miss getting a shot of bear trap.
Looking for great cocktail and great food this is It! We had onion rings and gimlets so Good! Great service, entertaining bar tenders!
Sardines were good...
Great selection of beers and food. Friendly atmosphere.
Good neighbor bar. Good drink selection. Food is interesting so I'll let you be the judge.
