This a neat little spot right in the middle of downtown. It worked out great cause it was in between the hotel I was staying at and the Roseland. Good beer selection, food was okay. Atmosphere was great, lots of people having fun and watching games, even though it was unseasonably warm outside when I was there. I will definitely go back when I'm in the area.

This place is a very big establishment. Just like any other sports bar there are a bunch of big screens with all the games showing. The bar has a huge variety of drinks, including the drinks they've designed themselves which are good and pretty fun. The food was alright in my opinion. I thought as large as the place was, I should expect a few notches above chain sports bars but it was only a tiny increase better. The place is pretty cool though and I'd go back again without hesitation.

Pretty nice sports bar - good beer and food was ok. My biggest complaint is that they don't ask single patrons to free up their booth (that could comfortably seat 6) during happy hour. There were 3 tables I could see like that... The joys of open seating I suppose!

This place is in downtown Portland. Street parking only. Plenty of TVs. Watch the game from any spot in the place. They have bar games. Good beers on tap and some great bar food. I ordered the burger with garlic sauce and fries. You can taste the garlic seasoning on the fries. The burger was well seasoned. I will be back.

This is your typical sports bar. Full disclosure, sports bars aren't my favorite venues. That said, we had a catered work event here and the food was really good, particularly the mac 'n' cheese and sliders. I had a Moscow Mule and it was good; the diced ginger chunks were a nice touch.

Independant is a solid establishment with an awesome Beer list, great food, all the sporting events and a fantastic staff. My friends and I are there weekly and enjoy the excellent customer service from everyone we encounter. Shout out to Shay, who goes out of her way to make everyone feel like a regular. Keep up the work guys. Will be back again and again.

Just flew into town and wanted a great spot to watch opening football season...sat at the bar, male bartender served me a drink, handed me a menu and never asked or acknowledged me again, I shouldn't say that, we walked by my empty glass 5 times, looked at it, and couldn't walk away fast enough. Basically sat there for 45min with an empty glass poised perfectly at the edge of the bar to be claimed for a refill. Finally the female bartender saw my empty glass, (by this time there was only 2:17 left in the 4th quarter) asked if I wanted another, but by then I was over it and the fact I was starving, so I paid for my only drink and left to find a much friendlier place that wanted to make money off of my many drinks and food. I'm a great tipper too. If my staff treated customers this way, they'd not have a job. But the best part of PDX, there is so many bars to choose from, you can always find better.

Fans of all teams welcome here. Every seat in the house has a good view of a screen and the burgers are better than I was expecting for a sports bar. I'll definitely be back to catch more games when I'm in the area.

Awesome experience...we sat next to a group during the super bowl that was loud, rude, ubnoxious, and kept bumping into our table. The staff and manager did everything they could to keep them calm. We will def. Be back

It’s just okay. They serve pretty standard craft and domestic brews. Their food is mediocre at best. The staff is quite nice however and they have a ton of tvs. Considering Portland doesn’t have many “good” sports bars, I would recommend for anyone cruising around the Pearl.

Great bartenders! It was my first time there and it felt cozy. I felt immediately comfortable and they were very friendly. I defintely plan on going back. Some of the food options I wanted werent available because they sold out but that's not necessarily a bad thing. What I did get to try was good enough for bar food. I enjoyed the experience and will defintely go back.

New in town, tried a new beer, amber ale. Tasted like soap. Asked for a miller lite, said the first beer tasted like soap. Waiter said, we'll it shouldnt. Charged me anyway. Miller lite was good. Amber ale bad. Conclusion...beware new thing at this place. Lots of tvs, but staff has no idea of what sports are on. Good luck.

Stopped in twice for lunch, bar/pub food is really good and done right. Chicago dog is spot on!! The kitchen is not super fast at lunchtime despite a fairly empty dining room.

For a Sunday watching the NBA playoffs, this had been a great place so far. Stayed at the bar and like the restaurant's description says, they really do have TV's placed strategically do every person can watch anything comfortably. The bartender was friendly and I felt comfortable pulling out my laptop to do some computer work at the bar while watching the game. The veggie wrap I ordered was moderately priced and pretty good.

I'm not a sports bar girl, but my friend and I were looking for a chill place to eat, that was clean, and decided to walk into The Independent. It was rather "dead" at the time, which was perfect for us. The bartender was extremely welcoming, the bathrooms were spotless (the "wallpaper" made me laugh out loud though, what's up with that?) We ordered the chicken nachos and garlic fries, which we couldn't finish, but they were fantastic. Beers were wonderful and it was actually pretty affordable for how beautiful it is in there. I do wish that since we were two of five customers, that they would have let us sit in the fancy area just for shits'ngiggles. He acted like it's for the King of Portland, whoever that would be.. I would have given him a huge tip if he'd said yes. I guess our dresses weren't fancy enough for a sports bar

The sports bar to go-to, for any and all games/matches! Plenty of TV's, delicious food, and a full-service bar. My biscuits and gravy, and Chicago dog were top-notch. Not to mention their Pickle-Back is served with homemade juice. Professional service (thank you Merete), and an overall relaxing sports scene. There's also one pool table for in between games.

I absolutely love this sports bar! The whole staff, including the manager, Diane, is absolutely amazing. Every time I come in, I'm greeted with a smile. Their food is amazing and their happy hour is the best on the block. You've gotta stop by and give them a try!

Awesome place to watch a game, but food was meh and a tad pricey for what you get. We got the hummus and nachos. It took about 35 min for our food to come and the nachos just had cold gated cheese on them. Next time I think I'd just stick with beer from here lol.

A ridiculous beer menu and a profoundly diverse menu of the usual bar fair but with twists here and there. They have a projection screen and tvs all over the bar with 5 different cable boxes so they can cater to any fan even on super busy nights like Saturday which had the nba playoffs ufc fights the Timbers and a variety of baseball games.

Independent and sports bar is a place to hangout with friends. They have multiple beers on tap and a great service. Since I was alone when I visited this restaurant, I just ordered hummus and pita bread for food, the quantity and quality was good. However I felt the bread was a bit hard. The overall experience was good and although I was along I had a great time.
