This Restaurant belongs to the category of American restaurant.
I visited this place many times before and had some drinks but this last time I ordered omelet and lemonade and specifically asked about the lemonade if it’s real lemonade. I was told by the waitress everything here is organic, I was happy to hear that so I was anxiously waiting for the omelet. The omelet arrived and it looked great until I tasted the eggs, not that they were not organic but I am pretty sure they were not eggs either, I eat eggs all my life and this one tasted like rubber without egg taste. I got the lemonade and that was not from lemons either. Very disappointed from this place but also disappointed that no one is checking their “organic” claims for stuff. I won’t be stopping at this place anymore!
A colleague and I stopped by this restaurant to grab some breakfast before our flight. When we walked into the restaurant we were not greeted promptly. We needed to order to go and were directed to the bar to do so. We ordered our food and sat at a table near the exit to wait for our food. Moments later we were approached by a woman wearing a green button up shirt telling us that we couldn't sit there because these tables were for dine in guests only. We asked her where we should wait for our food at and she directed us over to the benches at the security checkpoint. She wanted us to wait for our food at the security checkpoint. Since those benches are designated for people at the security checkpoint we just stood outside the restaurant waiting for our food. The reason for this review isn't just for the fact that she wanted us to wait at the security checkpoint for our food; but also for her rude and passive agressive behavior. If she doesn't like her job then she should quit and go find a job where she doesn't have to interact with people. She acts as though she's forced to be there. Thank goodness for Michael. He did his best to make sure that we got everything we wanted in a timely manner. He was the only person in that place who exhibited efficiency, professionalism and kindness.
This was one of the only places open in the airport on a Tuesday night, and the only place with food that wasn’t Chex mix and chips. I grabbed a couple things while the man was helping a woman check out, and was promptly informed that they were closed. I said that they were the only place open, only to be repeatedly told that they were closed in the RUDEST manner. I had just some banana bread that would’ve taken two seconds to check out. Instead of being a decent person and just letting someone get some food for a red eye flight when nothing else was open, he was rude and it was totally uncalled for. I hope whoever owns this store gives his employees some lessons on decency because this is NOT how to do customer service
Wasn't sure about salad with my breakfast sandwich, but it worked. Still wish I could have just got bacon and eggs, but then I'm old that way
We love the Country Cat in SE Portland. The PDX Airport location is a welcome stop before flying out. It has a full bar with many specialty drinks. The food selection is good, and it has the same quality and flair as the SE location. The service is fast and friendly and considerate of tight schedules. Not as quaint as the SE restaurant, but great for an airport restaurant.
Sloppy service, takes too long for the airport restaurant. It doesn't look they care to use fresh oil when frying eggs.
Out of 2 menu items at 4pm. Shrimp and grits was a soup, no cauliflower. Dressing on side salad for sandwich was non existent.
Their hang over special was just the right amount of spice. Their country gravy was not what I expected but still very good.
Great food at reasonable prices - especially considering this is in an airport! Also had very good service!
The fried chicken and collard greens we're bomb!
Service was a little slower than expected for a salad and grilled cheese. Server was very friendly.
Chicken and bisquits.... NOT... worse dish ever
The food is mediocre, and the prices are not worth it. If you have no other choice (and there are few choices at PDX, it will do).
The bartender Amber likes to pick up on married men and is known to be exceptionally rude. I’ve heard the food is good, but she knocks the place down a few levels.
Everything about this place fits into "they are trying". It seems like they are trying to be an upscale restaurant, however the mark has been missed. The service was friendly and nice, but it was more like a breakfast cafe or something more informal. The menu is upscale and priced a bit high, even for an airport. I went for the $18 shrimp and grits, big mistake. It looked like they were shooting for upscale shrimp and grits, but I doubt the cook has ever actually had good shrimp and grits. This dish was unflavorful, a bit too runny, and really didn't work. It definitely was not worth $18. If you are going for country cafe, as your name suggests, try downscaling the menu and lowering your prices. I rated this a 3 because the waitress was friendly and very helpful.
Delicious. Surprising! Really good food, grilled cheese on homemade bread paired with thick, rich tomato soup and a spinach/kale salad including toasted pecans, dried cranberries, plus added sliced avocado, was comfort food at its best. Great, friendly, quick service, too!.Truly yummy!
Just had a great breakfast there. If you have time before your flight, it is a great place. If you gste is on the C side, you can crossover to it without security
They were out of the chicken fried steak.. The waiter was really nice and offered alternate options, but I went there mainly for that. Usually it wouldn't have mattered to me but after being on a plane for 9 hours, I just wanted some good ol' comfort food.
Good food and fast service
I've still never been to the main restaurant in SE Portland, but if it's anything like the airport one, I'm sure it's great. I fly out of PDX very often, and try to go here for breakfast or a bloody Mary in the morning before a flight. The service is always great and friendly, and the food is fantastic. The biscuit and homemade jam is absolutely delicious, highly recommended.
The food is so good!
One of my best experiences in a airport restaurant. Not only was the food good, but the service was great. I had the signature fried chicken and it didn't disappoint. My waitress suggested the Ginger Bomb, which was delicious and she happily put my drink and food on two different bills. It would be worth flying through PDX again, just to eat at Country Cat.
Closedon August 4th 2019 ...miss you
Beef burger was small and dry. Fried chicken was tasteless. Sauteed vegetables were too oily. Don't sit at the sofa, too short. Service was friendly.
Gotta say, this exceeded expectations. Nice way to start the morning.
Delicious food and wonderful service. Great breakfast mmmm
Great food good value
I've been to well over 50 domestic airports and can say, hands down, The Country Cat has been my favorite (and the best) dining option I've yet come across. Farm-to-table dining and totally not airport pricing. Delicious and well worth getting to PDX early to enjoy.
Great Bourbon Selection and Excellent Bloody Mary, Amazing Food! Best place to have a cocktail at PDX before or after a flight!
Amazing blue berry pie - must eat :)
Good food and good service
Great place check it out when you get some time.
It was ok. First came in and no clean tables. Staff was nice.
The BEST Eggs Benedict I have ever had. Seriously. I make it a point to allow extra time at the airport so I can stop and get a fix.
Great grab and go section in addition to the restaurant! Above average airport fare.
I normally LOVE The Country Cat, but they were having some sort of issue in the kitchen this morning and just left everything blocked, but appeared to be just chatting in the back when there were multiple people obviously waiting. They just ignored us. Finally, I waved and polked in past the chair blockade and that's when one of the staff said they werenr open, upon further inquiry she said there was a kitchen issue and they would have a significant delay in opening. Totally fine. Stuff happens, but you have to let people know when they're obviously waiting to get breakfast before those 6 am early flights. The ten min delay without information was the difference between a hot togo breakfast from another restaurant in terminals a/b/c and grabbing something off the shelf before my five hour flight. Normally great service and great food, but today was poor service and no food.
Awesome shrimp and grits from a GA girl. Who would have thought in an airport restaraunt. Definitely recommend.
Came in, nobody said anything until a while after I sat down. I ordered a simple burger with it 3 ingredients on it, waitress was not comprehending the simple order after describing it multiple times. After 30 mins, order came out completely wrong. Waitress set the food down without saying anything or allowing me to explain that it's wrong. Had to call her over again, she again misunderstood the order, then took the burger back. 10 mins later gave me the fries that were now cold. The cooks (visible and within earshot of customers) stated "that's not how burgers are supposed to be (simple ketchup, onion, no cheese). She came back and told me they were scraping off the cheese. I got up said no thanks and walked out. Go to ANY other place in this airport. This restaurant and it's employees are ridiculous.
The Eggs Benedict with salmon was delicious as were the pancakes. Good coffee too. I would go there again.
my fave breakfast in portland! gotta try it.
Great place for drinks, and food if you must.
Always high quality, delicious food!!! That grilled cheese is rare nugget!
Very good food, reasonable prices and super friendly staff. Great place to stop for breakfast in the airport.
This is a great Portland restaurant. Order the Slow Burn!
It made me sick. Too greasy too much butter just such a mess.
Delicious food, really nice staff
Arguably the best place at PDX to wait for your flight. I wish their food had a little more flare but I can't complain too much. I've gotten hammered on mimosas before a flight numerous times here.
Possibly the best airport bar and restaurant around. Breakfast sandwich and turkey club are standouts. Fresh ginger for cocktails muy delicioso
The country cat is a must for anyone traveling through the Portland airport. I always get the salmon Benedict. Service is always super friendly and super fast
Great restaurant at the brick and mortar, great stop at the best airport in the world! Yes, just get the friend chicken :)
Enjoyed the eggs, bacon, biscuit breakfast. Bloody Mary was not up to par. Appreciated coffee being placed in my person reusable container so I could take and enjoy it on the plane. Overall, good service and good food.
Pick a place to eat was not particularly memorable. Prices were high which is usual for a Airport Restaurant may or may not go back when I go through again. In general decent place to get food but very expensive.
Outstanding restaurant. Wonderful staff and Chicken dinner is just the best!! Never miss a chance to eat there at PDX or their restaurant near Mt Tabor. (I think on Stark St but check address).
Good food, good beer, awesome waitstaff.
Had really good country fried steak. And you can buy there own made jerky to go!! It was amazing too by the way...
Great place for a quick drink and food~
Good food at a fair price. It’s not over priced like most airports restaurants. salmon eggs Benedict were great.
Meh. It was slightly better than average but nothing fantastic. We had the eggs benedict's with smoked salmon for $12.50. Also got the three eggs omelet. It was quick service. No vegan options on the menu other than salad.
Terrible burger. Nice atmosphere. Friendly service. Great view.
Good burger. Airport food is expensive, so that's happening. Friendly and fast service.
Really enjoyed the beef burger and fries. Tender and moist Patty and generous serve of crispy shoestring fries. Service was attentive and friendly. Plenty of seating and wide range of alcohol with the big bar.
Really great biscuits and gravy!
Whenever I have spare time at the airport this is where I grab a bite. Every dish is made with fresh ingredients with a tasty twist.
My favorite airport meal. I on purpose get to the airport early so I can relax there. Sarah is the best!!!
Good breakfast. Exceptional for an airport.
I'm so upset I need to express my frustration in hopes that this place improves their staff training. Problems: - slow bartender that doesn't pay attention to you at all - said bartender doesn't know how to read a USA passport.... I sat at the bar and obviously like most customers I have a limited amount of time before I catch my flight, I came to the airport early and was planning on eating breakfast. The man at the bar gave me a menu and walked away to serve other guests. He returned and I tried to place my order but instead he asked for my ID and walked away. He took someone else's order that sat down after me. He came back and I then stared at my passport for over a minute (by the way he hadn't placed my order yet). He then tells me my passport was expired so I gave him my driver's license (my passport was not expired) and I don't know how you can hire someone that doesn't know how to read a brand new US PASSPORT?! I am an American citizen sitting in an American airport in America and he is wasting my time telling me my passport is expired. By the way he walked away to serve other guests while I looked for my driver's license. only THEN did he take my order. I eventually got my food and I added a star because I did enjoy the food I ate and it came out relatively quickly once the order was placed. The bartender was horrible though. Please train your staff.
Best eatery at pdx. A legit restaurant, not airport food.
Great service, delicious food and drinks.
Fresh turkey club, with tomato jam and avocado. DELICIOUS
This establishment, whether the airport or main restaurant in PDX is ALWAYS outstanding! Collard greens, biscuits, you name it...DELISH! Service is friendly, knowledgeable and fast!
One of the best airport bars in PDX
The best place to eat at pdx airport!
Hey it's a small airport here, with airport pricing of a big one. Food is ok, suggest you skip the chili burger, cause they will skip the burger and sell you a chili sandwich with pieces of burger inside. FRIES were great and so were the wait staff... timing out of the kitchen was good, perhaps because they dignity have to cook a burger??
A lovely Powers Syrah. Also I love the chicken and smoked ham with biscuits. It is a soup really but very filling. The steak is disappointing. I go there about once per month.
Food is much better than most airport offerings!! It doesn't touch the ACTUAL restaurant in quality or freshness, but this rating is of an Airport restaurant. Prices are good, beers can be 32oz, and the Bloody Mary's are STRONG!!
Been here twice and both terrific. I was looking for something lite the first time and decided on the grilled cheese and smokey tomato soup. Well there's enough there for a decent size meal. Delicious and like anything else if you add bacon to it it's even better. Seriously that soup is awesome. Service has always been good for me.
We had the breakfast sandwich and pancakes. The sandwich was very dry. The pancakes were very sweet.
Easily the best restaurant at PDX. Great food, fair prices and fantastic service. Try the Shrimp and Grits - you won’t be disappointed.
Well deserving of 5 stars. Breakfast was amazing. Fried eggs on top of pulled pork with little deep fried potato wedges. Best breakfast I've had in a long time. Prices were very reasonable, especially for being in an airport. Bartender was very friendly. Food came out less than 5 minutes after ordering.
Just like the original restaurant in Montavilla section of Portland, they serve great food. The biscuits are amazing. Wonderful meal before getting on your flight
I had the biscuits egg sandwich as you can see from the picture the biscuit was burned the taste was ok this sandwich can be improved by adding some avocado slices and tomatoes to make it more appealing;
Delicious made from scratch ingredients!!
Not bad for an airport restaurant. Had a burger to keep me going until dinner and it arrived quickly, was tasty and the home made ketchup was really nice and tomatoey. Fresh orange juice was good. Price seemed to be pretty typical for an airport eatery.
I would go to this restaurant even if I wasn't trapped at an airport. Skittle fried chicken in my favorite item on the menu. Definitely enough fuel to get you across the country. I've eaten here several times and everything I've seen go past me looks good.
The best airport restaurant meal in the world.
I know it's an airport so the bar is already low. I ordered a bloody without realizing they don't use straws, so got a mouthful of celery salt. The biscuits and gravy was very bland. The server was attentive at least.
Fried chicken sandwich with fries is a pass. The fries have so much salt that I had to wipe it off with my napkin and they still tasted of massive salt. The Chicken had dark grey meat pressed together with white meat reminiscent of the chicken nugget from McDonalds. The onion rings would have been amazing, but the same guy who doused the fries with salt obviously got ahold of the onion rings. Service was great and I’ve always had wonderful luck with breakfast here:)
Best breakfast sandwich at PDX
Great breakfast this morning! Thanks. Unfortunately I think I left my eyeglasses there!
I enjoyed the eggs Benedict I ordered. Unfortunately this restaurant that's known for its fried chicken, ran out of fried chicken at noon.
SHAME SHAME SHAME MANAGEMENT!!!! Food was Excellent. Service was Excellent. Tia my server was Amazing. Management... Was TERRIBLE, RUDE, AND DISMISSIVE. Hispanic, Male, Optional glasses, Maroon shirt on 6/21/19. THE RUDEST MOST DISMISSIVE MANAGER EVER.... Which for such a nice establishment is a total shame. All over me asking (but not expecting) A BISCUIT for my Chicken and Biscuit Soup (VERY GOOD!). SHAME SHAME!!!!!!! SO SAD! It was so Good till the Manager RUINED MY DAY AND VISIT. It was a biscuit..... Really?
This was by far the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant. First we had a female server who checked on us a couple of times right when we sat down but we asked for a couple of more minutes to review the menu. 20 minutes later and we still hadn't been checked on again, only to find out that we had been transferred to another server who SUCKED!!! My mom asked for a side of toast and he convinced her to try the biscuit because that's their thing, she asked if she didn't like it if she could get toast he said yes. Of course, my mom hated the biscuit and had to hunt down the server to tell him and request toast. We continued to eat for 30 minutes and NEVER received any toast. When we finally waved down our server to pay she requested the biscuit charge be removed and he stormed off and came back with a new ticket. We cashed out, without tipping him at all, and my mom requested a box for her food. He NEVER came back (he didn't know we hadn't tipped him), so we just left. The worst experience ever at a restaurant and I will never be back.
The burger was good.
Always get fried chicken with a 20 oz beer. If they have some whistle pig it's a bonus
Great quick and relatively healthy bite with a portabello sandwich, salad, and tomato soup. Excellent service too.
Always a good bite in the airport. Breakfast is top notch dinner is above average. Presentation is great. Service is an 8.
Mind blowing food? No, but considering the alternatives, the very nice attention, and the great view of the mountains while you eat, I'd say this is a very good option for layover food in Portland.
Loved the Portobello sandwich! And the craft beer!
American comfort food done well. Great service, quality ingredients, reasonable price (for the airport).
the best restaurant in any airport we have ever been
Quick bite to eat before take-off, staff very friendly... a little too cramped for luggage, but good food.
Extremely friendly and attentive staff. I was able to kill a few hours waiting for a flight here with a very friendly bartender.
I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The sandwich was really, really greasy and had little taste. The tomato soup was sour, and otherwise fairly tasteless. The positive part of the meal was that the staff were very friendly and engaging. For the price, though, the quality of the food should be much, much, much better.
I totally dig the Brisket plate, but what they brought my wife- which was supposed to be “Chicken and Biscuits”- was really a brothy vegetable soup, with three small biscuits, and tiny shards of chicken equaling less than 1/4 ounce. When asked where the chicken was, they responded that they were out of roasted chicken, and that meal was really more of a soup anyway. She ordered Fried chicken as a replacement and was pleased.
Excellent breakfast. Great service. Awesome pancakes.
I have been here several times and it is always a challenge. The service is inconsistent and haphazard in it's approach but it has always been friendly. Today it was also rude. The server admonished us when we asked to order after she had walked by our table at least three times. I wish I could think of something that would make me try it another time but today was the last straw. Slow, inefficient service, food is okay but inconsistent and doesn't come close to making up for the poor performance of the staff. Someone needs to train/show these people how to give good service on the restaurant floor. It's not that hard.
Always a great stop for food while flying out of PDX
Extremely fast service and their cat country fried chicken is NUTS good. Definitely snag lunch or dinner here a bit early if you're heading out of an E or D gate.
Great Omelet! And great service!
Good place to eat while waiting for flight.
A very good, but huge, breakfast. Quick service.
Lead bartender Douglas provided a perfect fit environment for a 3 hour delay...wings were excellent!
Friendly and quick service and delicious food!
For an airport restaurant, the service and the food was absolutely outstanding! I highly recommend them.
Our absolute favorite restuarant at PDX!!!!
Food is better than most airports but only go here if you want to experience the full hipster I’m better than you attitude of the staff.
Cheap for airport food and awesome beer and service. Foods great too.
Wanted a quick breakfast so I popped into the Country Cat market area to buy a yogurt parfait. The cash register had a sign that said please pay for market items at the bar in the restaurant. After standing at the bar waiting to pay for 10+ minutes, no staff even acknowledged me. I decided to take the yogurt back to the market fridge and go somewhere else for quicker service. While returning the yogurt to the fridge I was FOLLOWED by a waitress watching me like I was about to steal the parfait. Unbelievably horrible service, I will not be back.
