This Restaurant is classified in the category of Hamburger restaurant.
This is a classic burger joint from the past. Used to be a drive up back in the day. The food is really good! It's not fancy or fine dining. It's the place to go when you want a real ice cream shake, great burger, and fries or tots!
I was extremely disappointed. I ordered in with delivery and the food is over priced for what it is. Also I don't mind some pink in my burger but this was way uncooked and the fries where way to overcooked and over crispy. I waited a long time to try this place and expected alot more
The food is good, but some items are rather overpriced. The burgers are tasty and fairly priced, but they're served a la carte and the sides (fries, tots, onion rings) are rather expensive ($4-5) and the portion sizes are rather small. That being said, their shakes are very tasty. I enjoyed the food, but thought I payed way too much for what I got.
Old school hamburger joint. Quaint, clean and everything is made to order. Delicious milk shakes.
Worth the trip up to the top. If you desire old time drive-in experience, a must.
I always order out, they have great food. Just dined in and was shocked about how dirty this place was. Hanging lights appear as they have not been dusted in years.
Portions are huge. Great burger. I think they did some remodeling last week. Can't wait to see it.
Not really sure what the fuss is all about. This food is
Great burger.
Needs more heat but good food
These might be the healthiest burgers in town.
Food is medicore for the price. If you are driving in the west hills it's an okay pit stop. I wouldn' go out of my way to go here though.
Great burgers, good straight up diner food. Best burgers in Portland.
Wow, what a burger! This was my first time in the area and thought I'd give skyline restaurant a try. Soon after I picked up my order I got back to the job site to eat and when i open the box and was shocked at how big the burger was. Everything was very fresh and tasted good. I also really liked the tater tots they had a nice crunch and tasted of onion rings. Delicious! I'm looking forward to bringing my girlfriend in for a tasty burger.
It was the first time I ever visited skyline and it's got me hooked! The price was reasonable the portions were phenomenal and the throw back 50's diner atmosphere puts you in a great relaxing mood.
Excellent friendly fast service. Food was perfect.
Fun place and great food!
Loved the pie shakes!
Classic, American fare. Good service. Delicious milkshakes.
A decent burger at a fair price, nothing incredibly special about the food but the location is convenient
Amazing burger! So big I had to take half home. Definitely recommend a visit!
Great food great milkshakes very crowded
Great spot to stop for a burger and a milkshake.
I disagree with the single $, but thisplace has reasonable burgers for a slightly elevated price. The fries are really over priced. AVOID.
A classic diner joint. Burgers are a little pricey, but the diner ambiance, quality and sheer volume of food makes it all an excellent experience. Milkshakes all around to top it off.
Great food and service in a family atmosphere
The best burgers in PDX. Good food for the whole family. We love Skyline.
Impressive Philly burger, huge and really good! Fries could be thicker but still very good, freindly courteous waiter too!
Brings back great memories, my grandma cooked here long ago. We went and had a peanut butter shake in memory of my dad. Always delicious and nostalgic.
The kids love this place. I found the chili runny. Make it thicker and raise the price it you must. It’s that important.
What a wonderful surprise! It's a great, fun & delicious place. Great food, the potato salad was wonderful and the burgers are out of this world. Old fashioned shakes made to order and the prices weren't bad
Simply good. This little hole in the wall is exactly what I hoped it would be. Fresh, local, and tasty. We arrived right before 12 PM on a Sunday before they opened, and the line began to form. That was a good sign. We ordered our burgers and fries, and the food was ready in about 8 minutes. Perfect amount of time for quality, freshly ground burger patties to be cooked to perfection. The special sauce that they make is incredible! The fries were great too. Overall, love this spot! Can't wait to try the other Skyline Restaurant in Portland, OR location.
Huge burgers as expected. Excellent flavor and worth it.
It was fine. Good burger but a little pricey
Huge delicious burgers. Hella cheap. So good
A classic historical old school style of fast food in the west hills of Portland. I can remember sitting on one of the 4 bars stools at the age of 3 years old, anyways excellent traditional American food with many choices of Hamburgers and they have famous Split Pea Soup and the service is great.
Love Skyline a true favorite! Crisp lettuce on the salads and the Cheeseburgers, the old fashion way are an afternoon delight! Easy parking!
Had a 1/4 pound bacon cheeseburger and I super dug it. Shared a butterscotch shake that was supreme. Liked the crispy shoestring fries.
Went in right at 11 when they opened, by 1130 the place was half full already! I knew why when I got my food! Hot, fresh, and HUGE! Of course I ordered the biggest burger on the menu but it was so tasty! My friends were both very happy with their food and custom milk shake. The service was great too! She was super nice and helpful. Classic Dive Diner will DEFFINATELY return!
Old school portland burger joint, great food and absolutely iconic.
So disappointed. We heard good things about this place. Unfortunately the food was nearly inedible. Greesy and bland, it just left us regretting the decision to come here. Maybe it was a bad day for them. It was busy and they seemed overwhelmed, but we cannot justify going back.
Love the food and the milkshakes and the people are really nice and friendly. Customer service was great
Absolutely delicious bunless bacon avacado burger right around the corner from my daughter's house, woot woot. Rumor has it, their shakes are to die for. As a type one diabetic, I can neither confirm nor deny...
Great staff. Friendly and caring owner that will stop and visit. Say hi to Gail. Good atmosphere. Not a fast food stab and grab. Good menu variety. Fair prices Worth the trip. Feels like you have been to a more expensive Establishment. No doubt that I will be back.
Pretty good food, it's diner fare with good burgers. It's cut throat finding a table when it's busy though. If you aren't assertive you will not get help, or a seat.
Very good burgers and milk shake is awedome
Great service, delicious burger and fries! Outstanding and nostalgic. Perfect Saturday lunch!
The shakes are amazing!
Thanks again for the great service and the food was delicious too.
Burgers were delicious! Cool atmosphere, friendly staff!
Well where can I start ~ The Service is HORRIBLE ~ Reason being, I ask was the Beef Burger Meat hormone free, the waitress told me she didn't know, then she went on to say why, everything we have germs in it, from water and everything else.
42.50 for 2 burgers 2 fries and 2 shakes for inconsistent and slow service. This is place isn't worth the hype it gets.
This place rocks! Portland is filled with a lot of places serving specialty burgers with the latest and greatest ingredients. But Skyline has the best Burger when your looking for high quality ingredients and flavors for the classics. Old diner and drive in vibe is great. Will be back!
Rootbeer float, and a bacon cheeseburger. Very delicious.
Little hidden gem, great shakes, lemon meringue pie, music, service.
Cute diner! Our server was so nice and the food was delicious. Definietly coming back. Plus the music was perfect!
Ordered their Cajun tots. When they arrived I saw a large pubic hair right on top and easily visible. There was no mistaking what it was. How the waitress didn't see it is beyond me. I called her over and she claimed it was a piece of a toothpick. Unbelievable, we'll never eat there again.
Really good burgers and service. Although the veggies were a lot they were fresh. The meat cheese and bacon was on point. I would probably just get the tomatoes and onions only next time but still well worth the trip and the bill. Great place good homey burger.
Amazing food. Fries not too memorable. But other than that, 5 stars. Service and good food made up for it.
Good service. Old-time charm excellent shakes
Sucks when you get seated. Are ignored. People come in after you. More people come in afterward. And guess who is still left waiting while the orders of two families are taken as we sit there waiting... get it together Skyline. Being busy just shouldn't be that hard. And yeah, we left.
Very good burger and fries.
Great old time burger joint
These are arguably the best burgers in the Portland area, with excellent milkshakes and toys for the kids!
Cute place. Vintage diner aesthetic. Milkshakes were bomb
This place is a family favorite and we go every chance we get. Amazing shakes, great floats, delicious burgers and friendly staff.
We enjoyed our meal and will go again. The shakes were fantastic old school. Burgers were good would like to try more on another visit. Also it was packed so be ready to wait. But I think you will enjoy to step back into time burger joint.
Great burgers and excellent customer service
A classic. Had a delicious cheeseburger and fries! One thing to note: the bathrooms are small! Not 100% sure they are ADA compliant, if that is important your your accessibility needs. (In particular, the doors are narrow and the bathrooms as similarly narrow. They would also be challenging to get to una wheelchair.) But this place is such a gem! The food is delicious and the service is charming.
There's so many milkshake flavors, it's like I'm in heaven
This old classic dinner is a Portland favorite. Fast courteous service and outstanding food will make this place become one of your defaults. By all means, add a milkshake or three to your order. Bring cash, or get some at the ATM inside the door before finding a table. If you go shortly before sunset, you may see a beautiful orange sky. There are many nature trails nearby, so you can make the Skyline Restaurant a nice reward for a day of hiking.
I have loved this place, since the 60s
Great burgers, fresh fries, lovely iced tea (marionberry). Service was great. Very classic dinner and a must visit if in Portland. So why the missing star... Well age hasn't been kind to Skyline. This coming week they will be closed to replace the carpet... Many years after it was due to be replaced. Bathrooms were outside.. Sort of cramped non-ada approved, but functional. In back was a covered parking area, reminiscent of earlier, happier times at Skyline.
Decent if dated burgers. Friendly service. Cool location. Fun for a quick lunch ride.
The food was AMAZING!!! Very friendly staff, and a cool nostalgic ambience!
Great burgers and good service
Great food amazing staff
Very pleasant old school diner with great burgers. The Thanksgiving-themed Mayflower Burger was absolutely fantastic. Staff were friendly. Worth the drive.
Local mainstay since I was a child with delicious homestyle burgers french fries an American food.
A Quality Fun Fast Food place.
A good hamburger, friendly atmosphere. A bit expensive .
The staff is great and friendly. Great cooks! We enjoy it every time.
What a great little dive. Veggie burger was excellent.
Cute little burger joint since 1935. Good burgers and shakes. Has different hours during summer months. American burger joint all the way.
Great, classic all-American burger and shakes. Also has vegan and veggie burgers. 1950's atmosphere.
Our family went and we waited for about 5 minutes and were ignored so we walked out.
A classic diner serving burgers, sandwiches and shakes in a location surrounded by trees. This place is old and it feels it. The interior is old and worn, although clean and in fine condition. The food is straightforward, no frills and fits the atmosphere. While this is a classic diner with diner burgers, we were surprised that the shakes and fish and chips weren't quite as good for the price being asked. The fish and chips were around $14 and just so weren't worth it. The shake was something like $6 and it was very basic. When we go next time, werew going to stick to burgers and fountain drinks.
GREAT SERVICE. Gravy on fries highly recommend !!!
Good old school burger joint.
I love this place so much!
Omg.. Possibly the worst place that we have ever eaten and wasted money at! Don't eat here if you don't want sadness and disappointment.. I was so excited.. with all the awesome pics and reviews from other customers.. The Food was was just plain gross!! $35.00+ for a very very dry Philly cheese steak.. a hockey puck of a Cheeseburger the size of a McDonald's dollar burger.. would have been better!! And a over cooked chicken sandwich that was half the size of my bun.. plus a WHOLE sliced onion I swear was on it and a pile of lettuce.. Jesus! The fries were just okay! And The Young Blondish girl that took our order was very RUDE!! THIS WAS AT ABOUT 6:30ish today Tuesday July 2.. didn't catch her name.. The little Mexican fellow.. was very sweet nice and helpful.. Maybe she could learn a thing or 2 from him.. She super sucked.. and we will never return.. we feel really ripped off.. Well thanks and no thanks for the waste of hard earned money!! Smdh.. Disappointed Customer!!
Great Burgers and shakes ect., frendly staff with good prices
This place is a classic American roadside burger joint. All the food was exactly as you would expect.
The burger patty was thin and not tasty. It was forgettable. The shake was OK. The paper cup it was served in was not attractive. The restaurant's seating is cramped. Its a diner. Not a great diner.
Good food cooked fresh
I enjoyed my time at Skyline. I was impressed by their menu’s well-rounded size, especially the different kinds of shakes and beverages, as well as the different flavors of them. I enjoyed the view of the nearby forest. I also liked the restaurant’s old fashioned style, examples of which are they interior and exterior, items displayed the tables, and gas pumps you can park your car next to (don’t work). I enjoyed an order of Mac & Cheese Wedges, a Sausage Dog, and a root beer float.
First time in yesterday and it was not very good AT ALL. Thought the name and reviews would live up to it's hype. Man, was I disappointed. The salad I got with my meal was NOT fresh. $14 for a Philly sandwich that was dry, flavorless, and just yuk! My husband swapped meals with me so I had something to eat. I ate part of his bbq bacon cheeseburger. Nothing special about it. $51 for 4 people to eat mediocre food. Not worth it in the slightest!
A wonderful restaurant. Simply one of the best I've been to. They make the classics shine. From burgers to dogs, to their shakes. They do it the best. Avoid this place if you aren't one for the good old American classics. And the prices are amazingly low for the food. Expect a range of about 8 to 13 dollars. And in this range lies bliss.
Service was good but the food was just OK for the price. Chili dog had runny chili.
I LOVE their split pea soup........lol....and the burgers with In n Out quality veggies
I'm a fan a diners and Skyline is a prime example of a smalltown diner-feel with delicious, fatty, greasy, yummy-ness. The burgers and fried chicken are delectable. Can't wait to try more!
It's OK. Definitely NOT the best burger in Portland.
We really enjoyed our cheese burgers. And our server was amazing! She was sweet and food camefast. HOWEVER- i will say that the 4.35 $ basket of totts was VERY SMALL. We were told that 1 basket was enuf for 2 ppl. But they didnt even fully cover the bottom of the basket. they were delish and crispy-but we felt cheated.( we overheard another table also complaining about the lack of Tots in their basket) Probably will not go back unless totts basket is addressed.
I love this little jewel of a restaurant. It is a fully retro experience since it has never changed for probably fifty or more years. It is an old school diner with burgers, salads and sandwiches. Bring cash since they do not take cards.
stop what you're doing turn the car around and go to this restaurant to get their onion rings.
Truly the best burgers and shakes in town!
Great food, delicious, tasty old fashioned burger. Wonderful service. Quaint atmosphere with booths and counter service, excellent through back to the 60s.
Its historic, great shakes.
This place is great, if you like old fashioned burgers and fries. Shakes are awesome, definitely a trip back the the original 50s dinner experience. The food out of this world
Love the Hamburger Steak
Burger are fantastic! Ambiance and history feel great. Service is on point even when it is very busy.
Pretty snazzy place. Historic.
One of the portland originals.. Unique burgers.. Good veg options.. Retro, interiors and the old drive thru mural in garage made me actually wait to be served the same way. I went there to,pick up food for my wife after the delivery of our second daughter.. So this one is in my memory books.
Great burgers in a great environment. It's small inside and no cell service. That may be a good thing
Their hamburgers are out of this world great!!!! I had a 1/2 lb. mushroom/Swiss burger, and it had everything on it that I enjoy - of course the Swiss cheese, sauteed mushrooms, but it also had a lot of lettuce (which I really like), onion, tomato and mayonnaise instead of ketchup and mustard (which I despise on burgers) - so they ALSO got that part right! I've been to lots of burger places and this is one of the very best I've ever had!! Seriously! Waiter was very nice and friendly! The ONLY thing they could improve upon (which doesn't have anything to do with hamburgers) is their French fries, which are really skinny - like shoe-string fries, and fried crispy. I personally enjoy big, fat, "wimpy" fries. They need to fatten those bad boys up. But don't let French fries keep you away from one of the very best hamburgers you'll ever eat!!
Tastey burger and shake.
Old School Drive- In Burgers, Soda Fountain, home made pies and Milkshakes. YUM!
The food was pretty good. They have large portions for the price. Fun place to go with family, right near it is a couple parks where you can hike and such
This place is my favorite nostalgic diner! Their onion rings are dope, and now they offer the Beyond Burger, which had me pretty excited.
Ok. Best known for atmosphere than for the food.
Fries and burgers(Philly burger)were completely flavorless. Not recommended at all!
Excellent food, good service, a bit pricey.
The food is amazing. And the atmosphere is comfortable.
Great place for a relaxed afternoon after hitting the trails. Went there with a bunch of folks. This has the 90's-yesterday-casual look, and i love that vibe. The staff was quite friendly. The wait is a bit (probably 10-15 min on a Sat afternoon). I had the Portobello burger. The service is quick and the burgers are tasty (you won't be going here if you want a totally healthy non-greasy meal to begin with). Milkshakes are awesome too. Burger and shakes. This is what this place is known to be great for!
Awesome retro food. Love the malted shakes.
Frank's sauce and thousand dressing dipping sauce for fries became my dad's and my favorite when they ran out of gravy one day. A West side original. Customer for life
I ordered the chipotle mayo avocado 1/2 lb burger wrapped with lettuce since I am on Keto regimen and it was delicious, although they forgot to add the Chipotle mayo :)
It's ok food with a large menu. However their burger selection is kinda meh... I mean, a BBQ burger is just an ordinary burger with BBQ sauce on it.. and it's not even BBQ'd.. However on a positive note, their milkshakes are fantastic and I can't complain about that. Still, a great place to bring your family and the kids will love it.
Huge portions! Seating was a little cramped. Giant, giant milkshakes could be just a bit smoother and creamier. Otherwise, decent good. Solid 8/10 would choke arteries again.
Loved it! The food was great and the waiter lots of fun.
Classic. Just left. Tots, chowder and tea - $15. Cajun seasoning was on point and chowder was perfect. Staff and patrons are nice here. Good vantage point for diner photos. Skyline is a little driving enthusiasts dream so you might catch some classic and cool vehicles passing by.
So so good and super friendly service. A really classic place. Had a veggie black bean chipotle burger and it was fantastic. Split Cajun tots with delicious ranch. The chocolate cherry shake was awesome and everything was reasonably priced! Will be back!!!
My new favorite lunch spot! Great burgers, delicious milkshakes and simply a place you don't want to leave.
Talk about an awesome place if you really are old school like me I'm 55 years old go and find that place that serves that hamburger you've been looking for this is the place amazing great can't wait till my next visit you're missing out if you don't go I call it the Hidden Gem when I tell my friends
This is a great place for burgers and shakes!
Great burger and shake.
Best cake shakes in town!!
Excellent food and customer service. Great menu variety.
