Perfect time, amazing steaks, superlative service!

Julia Montoya

Great food with excellent service. Both my meal and my husband's meal were amazing and absolutely huge. We brought home so many left overs I don't think I will have to cook at all tomorrow. The experience there was just wonderful and I look forward to the next time we go back. Our server was very nice and super accommodating never letting us wait for anything. If we wanted or needed anything it took her less than a minute to get it to us. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about our experience. We will be back for sure!

Ryan Tigner

Great food, better atmosphere, and amazing service. High prices but that is expected for one of the best stake houses in the area!

Kevin Oyama

Historic venue with top notch service and food with tradition. It's a step back in time to fine dining.

Mary Raz

A Portland classic. Very 60s. Very good service. Overpriced. Food is good.

John Bowers

Lots of really good food really really good food just don't forget to make your reservations or you could be waiting quite some time

Natsuki Kojima

Maybe one of the best stake house in this town. Very good.

Lucas Gallup

The nicest people and best service. We were caught off guard by the price, but that's on us. Fantastic and classy.

Robroy Fawcett

Free valet parking. Amazing atmosphere. Exquisite steak selection. I enjoyed my prime rib eye steak immensely with their signature bernaise sauce.

Drew Beseau

Best steak house in Portland. The services is great, restaurant has a dark ambiance, I like to think of it as a place mobsters would eat at. Great wine selection, the onion rings are delicious and the mash potatoes are full of butter and the best I have ever had. All the steaks are great.

Luis Ramirez

Went here for a date night with my wife. Lovely atmosphere. Cheerful staff. Clean, cozy & comfortable. Food was amazing. Portion size was great, had enough to box up and take home.

Gayle Burrow

Was a delicious dinner. William our waiter was superb.

Ronn Sloan

Best steaks in Portland! This place is great. If you enjoy top quality steaks and want to treat yourself you have to do yourself a favor and stop by. You won't regret it .

old Zman

One of the premier steakhouses in the metro area. The food and service is always excellent. We celebrate numerous special occasions here throughout the year. Highly recommended.

Mrs. Parker

So overrated. The best thing we had at the table was the spinach.

Bobbie Foteff

Best food. Best wait staff Mary. This place is amazing

Daron lapping

The best steak I've ever had in my life. Unbelievable. No steak sauce needed. Melted in my mouth. Waiters were great. I'm still in shock!

Jackie Fong

Outstanding restaurant with great steak and large portion sizes. Classic steak house with attentive and professional staff. Famous for their onion rings - it came in two sizes but the small was honestly more than enough for my husband and I. We also shared a large steak, which the staff kindly split into two. Although we only ordered one entree to share, we felt like they gave us two full portions of sides on our own hot plates. Would come again and advise folks to make a booking ahead of time.

Dana Brumley

Service was great. Food was decent. Loved the flight of bubbles.

Keith S

Classic, old school steak restaurant in Portland. Been here twice and will probably keep coming. Bar area is a little small but their martini a are really good. Great wine list and service is good.

Tia H

If you are looking for impeccable service, amazing steaks and cocktails at a place that is family owned, cares for their employees, and cares about the quality of meat they source than this is the place for you!

The Swift Sloth

Can't say I've had prime rib better than at RingSide. Well worth the price tag in my opinion. You and another can rack up a $200 bill at this place but the food and drinks are phenomenal and you're more than likely to have leftovers. The steaks are fairly large and cooked to perfection. Everything is soaked in butter and salt. Yummy! Can't recall where the beef is sourced from but I know it's quality. They have a pretty good wine selection and cocktails here are well balanced. The interior is a bit dark at least in the section we were seated. My girlfriend and I were with a party of six and were seated at a rather small table. It was a struggle when all of our dishes arrived but the staff kept coming around and clearing stuff up as soon as the plate was empty.

Travis Barlow

The best food I have had in the pnw. The prime rib was phenomenal and everything else was just as good. You cannot go wrong eating here. While it is pricey you get what you pay for.

Cheree Peterkin

Nice venue, good ambiance and the waiter was amazing. He was always checking in on us. It was my boyfriend's birthday and everyone knew and made sure he had a great night

Michelle Benedict

Always a great time. Their dinners are wonderful, happy hour is unbeatable, and the service is amazing.

Denise Bertinazzi

Went here a little bit ago with my husband and a friend of mine. This place is spendy and more upscale. I had my 1st French onion soup, had never sounded interesting at all, it was freaking incredible. The food was really good all around. The steak, I like as rare as possible but warm, was cooked correctly and a good cut. The service is pretty attentive. My husband and I have been here before and had same good experience. Not 5

Kaylee Empey

Food was excellent, and the service was amazing. What imrpessed me the most was how accommodating they were as far as ADA access/needs. I want to make a special shout out to three employees in particular for their outstanding work: Nicholas, Calonny and Kelli. Keep up the great work, and we'll see you next time!

Luke Johnson

Delicious food and fantastic service. The best steakhouse in Portland.

Steve Lamphear

This is how a steak house should be! Lets establish, first of all, that the steaks are incredible. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and drink pairings and flat out awesome. What puts it over the top is the surroundings. This place is drenched in history and tradition so that everything adds up to a great dining experience on par with the best of the best anywhere!

todd palmer

Very cool. Great steak.

Dave Taxer

Favorite steakhouse in Portland. Try the bar menu for a change of pace. Great food and service. Baked onion soup is incredible, all steaks are fine choices, and the fried oysters will knock your socks off.

John Lonneker

One of the best steakhouses in the entire Northwest. A must if you haven't been. Make sure to order the onion rings for an appetizer!

Matt Gradin

Great food, great service, great atmosphere as always.

A p

Good but I think it's overrated, the atmosphere is nice.

Michele Michalek

Best onion rings around. The bar has a great atmosphere--dark and intimate. Moreover, they pour an excellent cocktail. Expensive but you really cannot go wrong.

Jason Sharp

Always great food! We have accepted that the kitchen gets backed up more than most restaurants when they are busy. We have been here 5 times, different months, but it takes min 30mins to get anything after an appetizer. One time it took over an hour for us to get our food, because our waiter forgot about us, all they did was comp a dessert. That being said, the quality of the food has always been outstanding. If I scored this on the communication and speed with the kitchen, I would give it 3 stars. The food is great though and the wait staff are professional.

Jose Boriss

Good service, steaks were done right at an ok price..

Jim Pickering

Great steakhouse. If you order sides and there are only two of you, you have ordered too much or you haven't eaten in days. Service was ok. Not on a level with the price point

Scott Reilly

Best steak house I've ever had the opportunity to visit. The meal wasn't even the best feature, that's not to say it was bad. Not at all, the food was amazing. The service on the other hand was absolutely the best service I have ever had at any dinner establishment. Our server was name Scott, off to an amazing start right off the bat. He was very helpful and prompt. Never did any of my party feel talked down to or demeaned on not knowing something on the menu. The rest of the staff was so on top of refilling drinks, that we tried to see if we could empty a glass of water. However, as soon as we'd get half way someone out of left field would swoop in and refill it. Scott was kind enough to take some photos of our family get together. If you plan on going, so yourself a favor and ask for Scott. You'll never have a better eating experience.

Brian Ramsay

Dave is our favorite server in Portland and he works here. The food is great too.

Tom Knapp

This place is amazing. It's expensive, hence why I'm only there for special occasions, but the food is amazing, the drinks are good, and the staff is very friendly. I recommend reservations since they fill up fast.

Carol Sandison

We were celebrating our anniversary tonight. Our server, Mary, was amazing. Our whole service team was awesome. We have been to Ringside many times, but tonight we were treated unlike never before. We will definitely be back!

Rose Mae Cuvin

Steak was amazing and so are thei service....

Anwar

Perfect every time!! Could not ask for better or more attentive staff, one of my favorite spots in Portland. We request the same server every time and she always remembers us. We are sad the other locations closed but this was always the best. Perfect for special occasions, or just enjoying drinks and a good happy hour. We really miss the aged bone in porterhouse for two, in my opinion it was one of the best times on the menu (please bring it back!!) To be honest every item and steak we have tried are done of the best out there. The fillet mignon is thick so sometimes the center of a medium rare can come out more towards rare. If you get the chance to do a kitchen tour it's a treat and you can see how much they care about the cuts and the aging process. We will keep coming back here.

Benjamin R Farham

We went there for our first year anniversary on March 26th. The food and service were great. However, my wife woke up at 1am with projectile vomiting and assumed she got the flu. She went back to sleep and woke up feeling fine after vomiting. We called the restaurant to let them know that she likely got food poisoning from the dinner as a courtesy. She was put on hold for 15 mins and then told the manager would call her back. No one ever called back.

Karen Sams

We got a gift certificate from our daughter and went here for the first time. Oh. My. Incredible! Great service. Great ambience. Great food. Loved it!!!

Cory Rea

Really great classic steakhouse. Blows Ruth's Chris and Morton's out of the water. Still a notch below El Goucho BUT it's cheaper so it balances out. Go here, eat steak, be happy.

Terrence Belieu

Very good foo. Very old school

joan stevens

It was dark walking in the front door. We were promptly greeted and shown to our table. What an AMAZING experience. Scott our waiter was attentive and friendly as was everyone who assisted. We enjoyed the Portland dining month 3 course dinner. The salad was crisp and fresh, the steak tips, garlic mashed potatoes, and vegetables were cooked to perfection. The creme brulee for dessert was perfect . We look forward to returning!

Brian Stone

Authentic, classic Portland steakhouse. Dark lighting, fun atmosphere. Servers/bartenders are all top notch. Check out this happy hour menu, seriously underrated. One of the best burgers in town for $ 3.75 on happy hour? Rediculous.

Jennifer Cowles

still the verrrrrrry best! food is great, the customer service is amazing

Jeffrey Paulson

There arent any better steak houses around. Try the dry aged steaks, it's worth every penny. Life is too short to not eat well.

Stella Lee

Happy hour is first come first serve in their small bar area. Customers are not allow to have happy hour in their dinning room. There are only about 8 tables in the bar area and the bar holds about 10 people. We got there at 9:45pm and waited for 15mins for a table. The steak bites are definitely worth a try. Pricing is very good too. The meatballs are also not bad. Happy hour was great for me as I could order and try a bunch of stuff. Customers must order a drink in order to have happy hour food.

Joe Miller

Get the bone-in fillet. Best steak you will ever have.

Shayne Allen

A great fancy steakhouse. A long-standing staple in the Portland, OR area established in the 40's I believe. The restaurant still has a lot of that rustic charm and a beast of a wine list. I found the service to be exactly what I expect from a nice steakhouse. Our service was outstanding from start to finish. The staff here did not miss a beat when it comes to making sure the table was clean and our water was full. My steak was a perfectly cooked New York and my girlfriend had a prime rib eye. I will definitely be returning to try their prime rib special on Monday's. Sadly we didn't get to try much of the dessert menu but will be taking a stab at that next time.

Caanan Adams

Ringside is nothing short of amazing. Each time is better than the last. Steaks are little on the rare side which is how I like it. Every side is delicious and one of the largest wine lists ever. The history is amazing and service is great. Ready for our next visit.

David Piacente

Absolutely the best steakhouse in Portland! Very attentive staff and free valet parking. The creme brule' was awesome. The onion soup was perfect on a chilly, rainy night. I highly recommend this fine establishment. It is a bit spendy, but worth every penny!

Laura Chandler

Excellent service and incredible food. We went for my daughter's graduation and every course was a well crafted delight. The lobster mashed potatoes were amazingly good.

Michele Anderson

You have to eat here. I don't know how I didn't know about this place before now !! Onion rings, steak bites, and the crab cakes were all beyond amazing. This is my new favorite place. The date night type ambiance is great for any occasion. They have a great fireplace that was working and beautiful. If there were more stars they'd have them. Oh make sure you to order wine if you like it as they have a great selection. What ..... You didn't leave yet?

ddking5

Fantastic! From the starter of crispy pork belly and roasted carrots to the comped creme brulee for our anniversary. The lobster mashed potatoes upgrade to the perfectly cooked NY strip was no brainer. I love how they keep the old school atmosphere and music intact. I here there is a "touch up" coming and On how they dont change much.

Marlyn Dinsmore

Fabulous food and service! Lovely place to spend an evening with friends who appreciate dining!!

Josh Kowalski

The steaks were perfect and the service was top notch!

Daniel Avila

The food was OK. I think they did a great job for 1975. There is only so far a chef can take a piece of meat. Good experience? Yes. Would I do it again? No.

Sarah M.

This amazing restaurant is an experience. The service was spot on and professional, with excellent suggestions throughout the meal. The food! Oh my goodness, the steaks are amazing. They come out on a sizzling plate, and the quality is exquisite. We also got dessert, and the sponge cake is light and fruity. Delicious. The drinks were also amazing. If you like fruity flavors, try the Blackberry Mule. You won't be disappointed. The ambiance is relaxed and upscale. Very classy. I loved the entire experience.

Daniel Hinman

Unparalleled service! Tender, juicy, flavorful steaks can't be beat. The beet salad was amazing!

debra hopkins

best birthday dinner ever. steak was cooked perfect and our waiter was great.

Sara Davis

Our first visit was delightful. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Our server Scott was amazing! We want him again! All the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding. And such a great convenience to have Valet. We will return!

Blake

I only went for the happy hour in the bar. The happy hour menu is amazing with great prices. The quality is of the food was even better.

Lloyd Go

Great steakhouse in Portland. Great service and great steaks. Exceptional wine list. Looking forward to my next visit.

Jeff

My God... That is one of the best damn steaks I've ever had.

Lorimer Twigg

Stake has never been prepared as is exquisite as at the ringside

Rich Bailey

Great steaks, beautiful atmosphere. Very attentive wait staff. Definitely worth it.

Ganesh Gunaji

I went with my brother for dinner a while ago. It was probably the most I have ever spent on a single meal in my entire life... That being said, it was also probably the best meal I've ever had! The steak was absolutely perfect -- not much else to say there. We also had crab cakes, and I usually despise any form of seafood, but the crab cakes were incredible. The bread was good as well. I tried an apple crisp for dessert, and I will say that while it was tasty, it was not as good as the apple crisp I've had at Mother's Bistro or Papa Haydn. They charge a lot ($12 I think!) for side plates of veggies, which I feel should have come with the steak. I also didn't like how they brought the steak out on an extremely hot tray, sizzling. It splatters a bit of oil, and I was lucky to wear glasses, but I felt some oil drops splatter on my face. If you're a millionaire or don't mind dropping $120+ on a dinner one day, this place is definitely one of the better options in Portland, but I'm probably only going to go again on some extremely special occasions due to the price. However, I think I can safely say it is the best restaurant I have ever been to. They have some really talented chefs over there.

Shelley Dixon

Have been going there since about 1975. Always friendly staff who are good at remembering customers and make sure you get great service. Food always good. One time there was a small issue with dessert, they took off more on the bill than the dessert cost and got us another dessert at no charge. Great valet staff, too.

Stephen Farenga

Great choices on the menu. Wonderful staff who are helpful and make recommendations without being pushy. Great wine and drink selection. The onion rings are a must for an along with the onion soup. I would definitely recommend The red Zinfandel to go along with any of the meat dishes.

Rose Presley

Lobster mash is delicious! This is our family go to restaurant.

A.D. Ichikawa

It's dark and loud and the food is not worth the price. The service is beyond fantastic, the onion rings are amazing but wasn't impressed with the salmon. It was a huge portion the sauce was really unique like a sweet tomato wine, but the potatoes under it were not cooked. I may come back for the huge steak someday.

Dill ster

This place is always great. Very classy. The real secret with this place is the happy hour. Love it

Lindsey Webb

The best service (and onion rings!) in Portland. My boyfriend and I chose Ringside to celebrate our anniversary. The staff made it a memorable experience for us. Not to mention, the delicious food! They offer valet which is great. No one likes spending an extra 10 minutes to find parking and walking a distance to a restaurant. When we walked in, the staff offered to take your coats and then we were led to a small corner table in the side room. My only complaint was that this room off to the side was a little chilly. Otherwise, it was dimly lit and romantic. Our server was friendly and personable. We ordered the onion rings for our starter and steaks with garlic mash for our main. The onion rings were honestly the best we had ever tasted. I will definitely be back some time in the near future to have them again. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. Since it was our anniversary, we were offered complimentary champagne at at the start of the meal and then creme brulee for dessert. So yummy. Everything was perfect and we couldn't have asked for a better anniversary meal and experience!

Ann M

The Best Steaks In Portland. Great Onion rings! Quaint Bar, Romantic Fire Place, Outstanding Servers, Highly Recommend! Wonderful Family owned Business!

Rosie Veatch

The seafood is always fresh and the steaks are tender and cooked to perfection

Niko Makarov

Old Portland steakhouse with history. Great classic steak and Americana dishes. Staff are experienced and know their craft. Extensive wine collection to pair well with any of their dishes. The entire experience from start to finish is simply well executed.

christopher tapanen

Outstanding customer service! Was here for the first time at happy hour and was amazed at how much attention I was given just sitting in the bar area. The braised beef quesidilla was yummy! Also liked the live flowering orchid in the bathroom

Kalei Libby

The food was amazing and we had an excellent time. The filet mignon was cooked to absolute perfection and I’m not one to sugarcoat things. The best part of the meal was that when the server brought our food, he waited for us to slice into the meat to make sure it was to our liking. That was a nice touch. Even the butternut squash soup was delightful with the presentation. No spoilers, just order it!

Jeanne Belieu

It was awesome. Best steak ever. Service was A+++++.

Charles Steele

One of the best steakhouses in the Country, period. You are treated respectfully and with the upmost regard at all times. I remember once stepping in for a dinner with a friend who was visiting. We had taken zero accounting of our attire, and walked in with dirty jeans, and puffy neon yellow coat and beanie. They treated us no different if we had entered in a full tux and ball gown. Extremely satisfied with everything about this restaurant. No aspect is overlooked and the food is truly divine. Yes, it is expensive, very expensive. However, I have never left like I spent more than I got. I honestly feel as though my bill was lighter than the experience I received. One of my all time favorite places in the city of Portland.

Stephen Foltz

Classy ambience, outstanding service and delectable food. Especially for Happy Hour!

Matthew White

Perhaps the best steakhouse in Portland and one of the best meals you can get here. Don't miss the onion rings or mashed potatoes. The wedge is fantastic. Keep in mind that the steaks (with a few exceptions) are big, so go easy on the appetizers or split everything. Valet parking is free ($3-4 tip is about right), and the driveway is a narrow one on the west side of the restaurant (left side if you're facing it from Burnside). It's pricey in general (expect a minimum of $60 per person) but worth it. Great for anniversaries and other special occasions. They gave us a free dessert and champagne to celebrate. The wine/beer list is extensive. While there's no dress code, most people dress a bit nicer to come here. Can't say which steak is the best - so many to choose from. You can't really go wrong.

Carl from Chicago

For a long time I resisted coming here because it seemed like it would be a dusty old steak house. But we ate in the bar and had a good time. The food is excellent and the drinks are strong and the service is fine in the bar. I would definitely go back.

bored observer

Excellent food, well worth the money. Our waitress was not overly friendly but the food made up for it.

D S

Amazing no BS steak!! Had a 6oz filet minion and it was the most tender steak I've had, with a lot of flavour. You gotta start with the onion rings, they are really crispy with good batter, and the onions are perfectly cooked, but not over cooked like other chefs do, may be the best rings I've had! The bread is also amazing, definitely get that. They give you all the fixings to put on your baked potato, it was fully satisfying! They definitely can say they are the best Steakhouse, since 1944! Service was friendly and helpful, keep up the great work! Visit and enjoy!

Dean Benton

What an AMAZING Dinner!!! The food was completely over the top. Highly recommend eating here. Not to mention the service was AWESOME!!! I would definitely go back for Special occasions.

berends kelly

I've been going there since you could smoke in the bar. I love this place. I just had the fried chicken lol, changed my life.

Aria Brooks

Spendy but worth it! Super high quality food and great service!

Harold Buschke

Good steakes/fish ribs eaten here several time never had.a my bad meal

Niko Ziegler

Great service from the waitress in the bar late night during happy hour. Something came out a little too salty for my wife and she handled it perfectly. Good food for the price your paying for the drink and atmosphere and it's worth it.

Chad Storey

Super good steak in Portland

Jason Maurer

Best chop house around! Top notch food.

Robin Knauerhase

Tied for best steak in town, & better value than the other place. They got retired off the national top-10 steakhouses in USA several years ago to make room for others, but it's always #1 in my book. (PS if they have lobster garlic mashed potatoes, splurge! It's divine!)

Dustin Thompson

Absolutely delicious! I will be back on a regular basis. From the impeccable service to the melt In your mouth cuts I can't help but look forward to my next visit.

Chimena Cole

This place is amazing but it's very inconsistent with service.it has out of this world food if they have it available . We have been here four times and twice was amazing and twice was terrible. The food is always been amazing but they really need to pay attention to customer service and food quality as they are the voted best in Portland ,and should always have it available, especially for the prices! They forgot our salad and soup and we're very apologetic then dinner our server came and said at 7:30 they were only having a medium prime rib. What!! Best steakhouse in Portland? my feeling is a steakhouse should always have a meat choice at our cooked at temperature at any time . They compensated a desert but our server with a party of six gave us three desserts not our choice, and when we ordered coffee we waited 15 minutes and finally had to call the maitre d and cancel the whole order. I really wish they could read this review and realize to properly train their staff. The drinks were amazing you just need to make sure that when you make reservations that you say you want the best service ever otherwise you're going to get run of the mill people that are not properly trained. The food in Portland is amazing! This is why we chose the ringside but at these prices I'm not sure if I want to gamble going to see them again. Our bill for 6 was over $600 . We probably would have spent more have you had good service.

Table Clads

As we all know the best stake house around

Jerid Mark

New remodel bar is wonderful. The half off the bar menu promotion for the first hour of service is an excellent deal. Amazing onion rings, delicious steak bites, and an amazing crab cocktail

KL

Having tried a few other steakhouses in PDX, I keep coming back to the fact that I love Ringside. We have a special table we like and they honor the request for us when we make a reservation. Love the food, service, and ambiance here. We'll be back!

Kristin Hunt

We had an awesome dinner here, the food is incredible and we were very impressed by the staff. From the decor, to the menu, and the staff they make the entire dining experience top notch. It's a great place to bring a special person in your life to share an evening you'll surely remember. We made reservations and on the friday evening we were there the place was packed so I would definitely recommend planning ahead.

James Lee

One of the best meals I've had and the service was top notch!

Bryan Mabe

Steak houses are often times either really expensive or an inexpensive franchise. Rarely is a steakhouse in-between and this place is no exception. It's definitely on the expensive side. However, you get what you pay for here. In service and quality of meat. I had never been to a certified, high quality steak house (outside the cowboy dinner tree in Redmond) and I was pleasantly surprised by the taste. They cooked it for me medium and it was perfect. The sides are amazing too and don't forget to try the onion rings. They're called ringside afterall. The staff is great and will make you feel not only welcome, but prioritized as well. They definitely know how to serve. And it makes the entire experience even better. This may be the best steakhouse in Portland.
