REVIEWS OF Radar Restaurant IN Oregon

Barbara Furlong

Came for Portland Dining Week... ordered one of everything between the two of us, including the white wine pairing. Everything was remarkably delicious. Standouts were the squash bisque (OMG!), and beef cheeks (incredible depth of flavor). Service was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. We enjoyed Radar, very much.

Phil Carriere

Delicious and creative. A thorough brunch drink menu. Music was too loud.

Marty Simpson

The food was excellent, though the nicoise salad had very dry albacore. The issue was the service. Our waiter, after taking our food order, grew visibly impatient as we decided between a bottle of wine or individual glasses, so he took off to place the order and didn't return for ten minutes to get our drink order. He actually made us feel small over this. Then a dish we hadn't ordered arrived. When we pointed that out, BOY did he get upset. He eventually apologized for the mistake and owned the problem was on him, but we all were made to feel as if it were our fault. The guy just seemed snobby and annoyed with us, though we were all very pleasant. Likely will not return, even though the food was really tasty.

Camber Hollywood

Wow! A new favorite! The food and service are impeccable! I started with a crab and arugala salad that had the perfect blend of spicy, creamy, savory, sweet, and a bit of crunch. Unforgettable! This was followed by some sea scallops perfectly seared and served with tasty bits of vegetables in a set of light and dark sauces that kept me trying to decide which one I loved most. I loved the whole meal and, watching other dishes come out, I'm pretty sure everything else serve was equally delectable. Bravo!

Connie Burgstahler

Best Roast Beef Hash I've ever had.

Chifong Thomas

Good atmosphere, great service, the food was flavorful, but was unfortunately cold, and the French fries were limp.

carlie price

The Portland dining month selections were fantastic! We visit tons of new places this month and this one was our favorite so far. But lots left on the list. Beef cheeks were great and the palenta was rich and flavorful with the manchego cheese. Crab salad was really nicely prepared and balanced. Check it out this month if you can.

Great food, awesome staff, Alyson is lovely and has fantastic shoes (the leopard print ones)

Keith OConnell

Comfort food for breakfast!

Matt Stikker

Consistently superb! Service is awesome and it's always exciting to see what new dishes they have on the menu. Plus their catering (Anchor Light Events) is every bit as good as the restaurant and they were super helpful putting together a complete menu for our event.

amy cole

I've lived in this town for 40 years and pride myself on knowing much of the city, so surprisingly, I was unaware of this gem that's been feeding North portland for 7 years. Fantastic small spot which is great for date nights or just a lovely evening with friends. Lots of delicious plates to share and it can be difficult to make decisions but you won't be disappointed with any choice made as everything was tasty and indulgent. They have brunch as well which I will have to try. Always happy to be surprised by such great unknown place even to the most native pdx resident. Staff was superb and happy presenting and sharing their food with us!

Zach Phillips

I love this restaurant. There is an open kitchen where you can see food being made. The menu is unique and always has locavore specialties. The exposed brick, ship pictures, and natural light create a warm ambiance. Great for a first date :-). I met my wife here for the first time.

Rocky Brown

Delicious fine food, great for date night

Trinity Steiner

Radar has exceptional fare for brunch and dinner. The wine list is diverse and delightful. One of the best scotch eggs in town. The service cannot be beat.

Lori Barnes

Delicious!! Went for brunch. Croque Madam and Everybody's Brewing lager. Breakfast of champions!

Frank Bowers

Great soup and sandwich!

Tammy Hodge

I had the beef cheeks and they were amazing.

Fernando Franco

Amazing food here!

Robert Henderling

Great little spot with fresh, delicious offerings. If you wanna try a damn good full english breakfast, hit this place up!

Sara O'Leary

Fantastic brunch menu and the food did not disappoint!

Ned K

Very friendly place and good food . Try bone marrow . Drinks served with metal straw ( awesome)

Kristin VanderSchick

Amazing brunch! Do yourself a favor and skip Gravy next door, come here instead. Very chill atmosphere and delicious, freshly prepared food.

Michael Broderick

Not very good service considering there were only 6 customers with 6 people on staff. Radar was expensive as hell for just being tiny share plates. Not worth the hype

Jesse Davidson

Every dish was extremely salty. Combinations were limited in their creativity (could find these dishes on many generic menus across the country) and over priced. Slow service although the staff was well meaning.

Cassie Fairley

amazing! we had happy hour burger, brews and the fry clam thing. yum!

Zubin Emmanuel

Love this place. The food and drinks are great and the people who work there are always so nice!

Anthony Kaufmann

Great cocktails and environment. Food was pretty good, but one of our sides came out cold. Service was great.

Les Orchard

Great drinks and small plates, nice for date night

Chris King

No. I don't understand how this place is getting a 4.6 / 5.0 rating. Food wasn't just mediocre, one dish (Octopus) was off-putting. The Sole special dinner was bland and unimaginative. The peach cobbler was likely the worst prepared desert I have ever had. Maybe the kitchen was a having a terrible night. I will say the drinks were very impressive. Final bill left me so disappointed - We could have had dinner at Le Pigeon for roughly the same price. We won't go back for a 2nd chance simply because there are a plethora of chefs and restaurants doing amazing things in this city. Worst dining experience we've had in a couple years. Oh - service - not good. Waitress starting pouring us a 2nd glass of water before I interjected with "Can we order drinks and food?" It didn't get any better.

Eric Schrepel

Always excellent food and drinks, the size is right (not huge), Bloody Mary isn't ridiculously garnished, just culinarily precise.

Bruce W Pflaum

Very nice Portland locavore restaurant with an appealing and inventive menu and a surprising cocktail array. The menu is probably best described as 'American Bistro' and is eclectic and varied. We stopped for brunch and had about 10 dishes (some large, some small) and all were uniformly tasty, well prepared and well served. Recommended.

akilah powell

Delicious food

Josh Graham

A fun brunch at the bar. Delicious scotch egg, gravlax, and morning cocktails

S Gray

Now a long-time favorite. Great cocktails! Always interesting menu and delicious food served as smaller and larger plates. The owners are wonderful and friendly, and same goes for the always helpful staff. Fun to sit at the bar. Try the bluefish pate. It's fantastic.

Dylan Richmond

Was generally okay besides receiving the wrong dish, and my dish was dry. Do not get the Chila Quilles. I recommend the wait for Gravy next door.

Matt Brown

The food was very good, with reasonable portions. Our table was not ready after a bit of a wait, and the waiter was so attentive he checked up on us and brought out coffee for our group while we waited.

Joseph Tucker

My wife and I had a great time. Interesting dishes, affordable, pretty casual atmosphere and our server was overwhelmed but was still pleasant, funny and made some great suggestions.

Joel Maag

Always excellent food, staff and service. My absolute favorite brunch in town.

Neely Grubbs

Love this place! The food's as good as the service, and a great place to bring a group of friends. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a great meal, great atmosphere, fantastic bartender.

Cole Marfise

One of the most underrated restaurants in Portland. They have an amazing brunch, but the dinner is even better. Great cocktail and drink list, plus some of the most flavorful and interesting dinner meals you can find in Portland.

Kate Tornay

Always good. Always friendly. Easily one of the best brunch places in Portland.

Chuck Houghten

Great breakfast

Dave Becker

We had such a nice, romantic dinner here. Great staff and amazing food, but the best part was the cocktails. Can't wait to go back!

Russell Morgan

Meh. Granted it was brunch but the food was meh. Great cocktails though

Lydiachef

More like 3.5 stars...the food was very tasty. We went for brunch on Sunday-they were quite busy but still only 25 minute wait. The seasonal clafouti was blackberry and we'll made. I had Croque Madame-it was great, my only issue was that I had to ask for a new poached egg as they had cooked the 1st one hard instead of soft but it was quickly taken care of. My friend enjoyed his beef hash a great deal and my daughter loved her dish, pork and hominy. The coffee was good and strong and I like that they bring you both raw and white rough cut sugar cubes. Prices are reasonable, service was a bit slow.

グレゴリースコット

Long wait times even for reserved tables, and food is served undercooked. When the staff was informed of this, they attempted to make up excuses and alternative explanations for why the food was undercooked.

Diana Rojas

Amazing. Specially liked the ginger soda and the trout!!

Malcolm Muir

Nice dinner. Trendy yet quiet. Small and intimate without being too uptight. A good relaxed atmosphere. Bar feel but definitely more restaurant.

Ivy yau

Very inspiring menu items. Loved it! Especially good for groups as they take reservations.

Andrea DeTemple

Solid food. Great cocktails. Lovely people!!

Mary Jane M

Love their brisket sandwich!

Kathleen Evans

I had a nice frittata, by all means get the potatoes, I felt like I needed to guard mine from the rest of the group.

Matt Lanier

wow, superb food and wine pairing in lively atmosphere.

Candie Winkel

Had a great evening with hubby. Got a #VZup Super Ticket. The food was delicious. They treated like any other guest. Service can be slow but the fantastic dishes are worth the wait. Highly Recommend for a romantic date night.

Phil Cheng

Very underrated place. It’s got really really good food. Atmosphere is great.

Samantha LeVine

Hands down, the best restaurant experience I've had in Portland for a long time. Unpretentious, gorgeous and comfortable, Radar far exceeded my expectations. Our food was immaculately presented AND delicious. Our wine and the service was stellar.....(and I'm a hard one to please, by the way). Thanks to Lilly and the Radar staff for providing me with a new top pick for date nights from now on!

Michael Alexander

We booked this restaurant after reading the online reviews, and we were not disappointed! Made a reservation for six people on a Saturday night. We arrived right on time, but had to wait another 15 to 20 minutes before the table was ready--my only (minor) complaint. When we were seated, it was a great table near the front windows, which was cozy and shielded us from the noise of the rest of the restaurant. The menu, while not extensive, is really well done. I ordered the escargot as a starter (which was fantastic), and my swordfish main dish couldn't have been cooked better. The rhubarb ice cream was the perfect dessert to wash it all down! The service was friendly and very efficient--our waitress was happy, polite and had a good sense of humor. All in all, a fantastic dining experience. Radar is well worth a visit!

Danger Boi

Food was amazing and the service was great.

John Hardiman

Great food and service, every dish was. Amazing

Ruth Miles

This place is legit. Creme fraiche omelette for him, brisket and corn cakes for me. Sides of grits and biscuit, just to judge the quality. Great lamination on the biscuit, which was served with housemade jam. Proper grits, which were both creamy and toothsome. Everything perfectly seasoned. Lawn Party cocktail was excellent. Good Bloody Mary. Expect to spend a few bucks here, but you'll get consistent excellence from the kitchen and front of house staff. You'll love this.

Buzzton

Delicious food and good service!! Frittata of the day!! Roasted potatoes is so crispy

Katy Wolf

You will not find a more welcoming and wonderful hostess than owner Lily Tollefsen. Her waitstaff is also friendly in the most genuine way, and the food is top notch. Happy hour is a great way to try lots of things and not break the bank. Some of the cocktails were masterminded by an expert, which explains why they're so damn good. I love the decor too - classy, minimalist, Portland. Highly recommended for brunch, happy hour, and dinner on special occasions.

Brittany Guitian

Food is good and restaurant overall looks great. But, the waiter I had today was very rude. He complained loudly about having to fill in a women's shift, who couldn't make it because of a cancelled flight. His name is Johnny, not sure if it really was his name, but he has glasses and a beard. I ordered a brisket sandwich and asked for any kind of sauce as a side that the restaurant had available and he scoffed right in my face and walked off. I had to ask for sauce a second time and he said, "I'm sorry we dont have bbq sauce." So I repeated that any kind of sauce is okay and he literally made a face and shook his head like asking him for something so small was an issue. His attitude was terrible throughout my time there, he was very short when he spoke to me but had no issues being friendly to people he knew there. Doesn't seem right to be rude to me. I went alone and hardly said anything than what I asked for. It wasn't okay for him to be mean.

Margaret McCoy

I love Lily! This is an amazing place to enjoy weekend brunch. The menu is diverse and the staff is welcoming.

Michael Romanovsky

Food was good. Would reccomend the mini mary but need a minute for the drink to cool. The Voddie is good once served. Good drinks and want to come back to try the bone marrow.

Joel Marchel

Amazing ambience! It is a narrow, thin restaurant that stretches down from the storefront like a narrow corridor. Excellent food, too.

G. S.

Had a quick lunch here. Graciously greeted by the receptionist, who was also our server and bartender. We were starving so we split a small Clam Chowder with a light Bechemel sauce that had chopped clams, mushrooms, bacon, onions and parsley which was served over thin french fries. It reminded me of a lighter version of Poutine. Wow...it blew us away! Then we split two sandwhiches...one was Croque Madame and the other one was the Beef Brisket Sandwhich. We had the salad and carrot Ginger Soup that came withthe lunch orders. The soup was good but could have used some textural topping. The salad was generous with even pickled onions! I was perplexed why this place did not have a line out the door. If I lived in Portland...I would come weekly. Great job, Chef!

Brass Tacks

A truly fantastic dining experience. The manager, Johnny, was absolutely amazing. He had great suggestions for drinks and knew everything about the menu. The food was perfect! The bartender (don't call him a "mixologist") made each drink with expert precision. I will definitely be coming back again.

Brandon Rice

Seats were very very uncomfortable. Portion sizes were also quite small however the food was fantastic. The atmosphere was cozy and warm.

Zara Vasquez-Evens

Beef cheeks. Escargot. Night owl. The bar. Lily. Kitchen staff. These are the things that make Radar amazing. And it attracts the best people to chat with.

David C

Everything is superb. The food is inventive and tasty. One of my top five restaurants in Portland. And Lily is the best.

L Gray

Great place to solo eat at a bar or with one friend, only 2 tables hold more than 2 people. We dined with friends and everyone enjoyed their choices, drinks and apps thru mains. My first steak tar tar, generous and with a flavour profile that was a dead ringer for a fast food joint that will remain nameless, I really liked it...

Bridgette Storey

Sat at the chef's bar, chatted with the very cool chef whole he prepared the food. Great recommendations. Atmosphere was nice, lighting was perfect. Food was amazing. Shared 6 dishes and loved them all. Definitely recommend.

Lori Cardon

Our FAVORITE place!

Erin Nahrgang

Radar is our tried and true neighborhood restaurant. We have celebrated many occasions here, and it was so great to celebrate our recent wedding with our family on this most recent trip. The staff are always welcoming, with great suggestions about the menu. Radar knows their food, and they know how to foster an inviting atmosphere. Looking to many more celebrations and/or quiet evening meals to come.

Tyler Clouse

The staff here are pleasant and helpful providing some of the best service in the city. The flavors and presentation of the food are well thought out and executed with consistency. While the prices may sway some people away from this place, I would highly recommend stopping by for brunch or a happy hour at the very least.

James Peoples

The Bacon... O....M......Bacon. Thick cut in house, sizzled to perfection, crunchy then melty, Bacon. Minimalist designed menu with excellent execution on every single ingredient. Now when I say minimalist designed menu, I do not mean that the menu is simple, or lacks depth. What I mean is that every item on the menu is completed with the perfect amount of ingredients to complete each dish to perfection. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and very accommodating. The space is bright, tasteful, and is neither too big and hollow feeling, nor too small and cramped. Ask for the Dr. Brighton special and drink the coffee while munching on a side of bacon as you contemplate the menu. Love Love Love this place

Joe LaPenna

Prepare to be impressed! But be sure to book a table!

Shaphan Thomas

Incredible breakfast/brunch here! Sat right by the kitchen and watched everything get prepared and literally everything g looked amazing. I loved my order of herb French toast side of bacon. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Overall I'd say a hidden gem in a sea of great Portland restaurants.

John van Bockxmeer

Small and large divine plates with fusion and experimental dishes in a narrow bar with exposed brick and old school tunes. You will love the brisket which comes with unique herb 'dumplings' that are more akin to gnocchi. Definitely a favourite in this area. Great cocktails too!

Greta Sederquist

Great bloody mary's!

Dan Saale

Hostess did an abominable job seating guests on a busy Sunday late morning, instead continuously & extendedly flirting with diners at the bar while tables remained empty.

Kimberly Rhoten

Make a note, this place you will want to come back to. We enjoyed our time a Radar so much that as we were winding down after two hours, I was still ready for more. The drinks are creative and nuanced with a subtle twist on old favorites that definitely fell in the "improved" category vs the "your are just trying too hard so stop" category. Food was served as its ready and designed to be shared which seems ready made for conversation starting. Each plate was fantastic and engaging but I really recommend the bone marrow! Staff was friendly and funny and very much engaged with the demeanor that this is your experience. I wish I had more photos but I was just too excited! Great location for a date or a couple couples.

Lisa Foster

Shout about awesome! Top-notch service from Johnny and Allie! Upon the recommendations of Kellen and Kai we tried the Beef tar-tar, steak frites, escargot, oysters and deviled eggs. Positively all amazing!

Jessica Kuhn

Great dinner and drinks per usual, so good I forgot to take a photo

Netra Ninen

First timer enjoyed the helpful staff and a nice $18 shot of whiskey with my guy. It was worth every penny

Josh Brokenbourgh

From the menu to the service it is a well run badass restaurant. Great ambiance, great people and the food is fantastic. I will go out of my way to come here. When people say there are a lot of great places to eat in Portland, Radar should be on that list. Stop reading this now and make a reservation with your friends.

Carrie Flannery

Inventive and delicious dinner menu. Can't wait to go back and try out brunch.

Margret Vollmer

Always good. Always friendly. Easily one of the best places to have lunch in Portland.

Hailey Levasa-Helbling

Great brunch, excellent service. I will definitely be back!

Mo O

They have a fantastic brunch menu, nice staff, good service AND they take reservations for brunch, too! My daughter has been here for dinner and says it's fabulous at night, too.

Matthew Brown

Awesome food and friendly service. We had the mushroom wellington which was so wonderful. It was crispy, flaky, and moist with mouthfuls of mushroom goodness. We will be back as we have many times before. Keep up the good work Lily!

Nathan Pyles

Amazing dinner!! 3 plate sizes all meant to share, everything we tried was out of this world. We sat at the bar right in front of the open kitchen which meant we got a show as we ate. The cocktails were wonderful! Service was excellent, they mistakenly took one of our plates to another table and as soon as they discovered their mistake the worked very hard to make up for it! Price may be higher than some like but you get what you pay for.

Ian Tornay

The best brunch in Portland has one of the shortest lines. This is a meal that will make you feel good all day long and get you excited about food. The atmosphere is comfortable, inviting, and calming. The staff is friendly and personable. To top it off, they've got a great no-nonsense bloody mary.

David Wilson

The vibe is very Portland trendy, but the kitchen does very solid work, as does the bar. I had the full English and it was wonderful. The beans were spiced well, the bacon was smoky, and the eggs were perfectly over easy.

Jered Noonan

New American tapas and craft cocktails. Great brunch menu. Brisket, pork shoulder, various fish options are all protein options with classics of fennel sausage and bacon as well. There is also so many delicious dessert options. Make certain to save plenty of room for their brillianly unique take on the classic gin and tonic. Yes. Yes. Yes.

Meghan Whitestone

Visiting from Seattle, and we were looking for food on Valentine's day that wasn't a 200% markup. Walked into this place and we were blown away. Loved the food, the chill atmosphere, and mostly the staff. They were so friendly, and quick, and answered all my questions about the food/wine...our hostess even ran to grab me a bottle of the wine when I asked what it was so I could buy it later. Our server also gave us a free pie (?!?!? Thank you!!!). Make sure you leave these guys a large tip, because if anyone deserves it, they do!

Lily H

The best brisket I have ever tasted. Very friendly servers and staff, cook everything right there in sight. Such good food

Beverly Gay

There's something for everyone on their menu. We enjoyed our meals.

Jim Magnuson

incredible brunch. Pineapple mimosas great

David W. Hubenak

Located in the ever popular Mississippi neighborhood, Radar is a fun spot that teeters between trying to appeal to the masses and striving for a higher level of sophistication. Although the food and drinks are very good, perhaps they would be better served if they’d focus and find their true niche. Fun happy hour spot. B/B+

Yavriel Sechelle

Good seafood place, but my opinion is biased, as I come from West Texas, so their seafood tasted way fresher than anything I get here. Based on that, it's a good seafood eatery lol.

Francis Peters

The homemade sodas are great, especially Ginger.

Phillip L.

Probably one of the best restaurant's in PDX!

Michelle Noschese

Ordered 2 Bloody Mary's in my group - both people couldn't drink as the seasoning was waay to much - waitress didn't offer to replace, but simply to add more tomato juice to dilute the bartender's mistake. One diner our group was served a plate of undercooked potatoes, parsnips and yams - as a 'hash'. Barely ate any of it - but our waitress didn't seem to ask or care what was the matter with the dish. Charged full price for 2 undrinkable drinks and one un-edible meal. Not great at all!! Really disappointed with the quality of the drinks and the food.

Frederic Lardinois

Disappointing. Appetizers (roasted radishes and cauliflower) were disappointing, the sole entree was disappointing (bland and boring), service was disappointing ("Sit wherever you want to..." Sits down. "Oh, I'm going to have you move because you can't sit at this table." Clears appetizers. "Let me put your used silverware on the table, you'll need them for your mains"). Won't be back.

Ashlyn White

Hands down my favorite restaurant in all of Portland! The service is always incredible and friendly, the food is so delicious, and the atmosphere is cool. I've been for brunch and dinner and have not been disappointed. The pork shoulder and the brisket are so flavorful and just fall apart on the plate. Also, it's in a very fun neighborhood so you have something to do afterwards!

Dallas Latsch

Food was spot on as well as the drinks! Our server was excellent and had great input.

Jeff Brock

Really yummy upscale pub. Prices are high but the food is worth it. Site at the bar and watch them work.

Matthias Kimball

Great food and service overall. The clafouti is really light on fruit but the fritatta and cinnamon roll were really tasty

Keith Molesworth

One of our new fave places. We recently moved near Mississippi and we find ourselves here a lot. We keep wanted to try other places, but the food here is great and really like like the people as well. It's been a great experience every time. Been there for dinner, lunch, brunch and just drinks. Each time it was great.

Rachael Mueller

My fiancé and I loved our dinner here. The atmosphere is so cozy and inviting. Very generous portions, the flavors and seasoning were spot on, and our server Emily was a delight. We left feeling uncomfortably full, just couldn’t stop eating!

Becky Hamm

Great service, fantastic food, and a clean and simple decor that allows you to appreciate the delicious meal in front of you.

Reanna Blair

We went to radar on a Saturday evening, we had reservations and were seated right away, and did their pre-fixe menu, at first I was a little bit skeptical because there were a few things on it that didn't look interesting to me... But I was not disappointed! All of the food was delicious! Our server was delightful, he was very helpful and knowledgeable about the food and the cocktails, and offered great suggestions to everybody in our party! it's got kind of an old speakeasy sort of feel to it, but the food is very gourmet, and I like the dim lighting and the exposed brick and the open kitchen style... It was all very cool feeling. We will definitely be back! I highly recommend checking it out

James Mone

I've been here a few times. Always good service, excellent bartender, and reliably very good bistro-fare. Was surprised to see it sparesly filled on a Friday night, it is far better than some of the nearby competition that was packed to the gills.

Robert Fraik

Was great, now sucks. Over an hour to get a simple order. It was way underdone. Coffee was good.

Jaime Vasquez

This wonderful culinary abode has been our go-to for years and we wouldn't have it any other way! Brunches are amazing, but just as equally getting a seat at the bar during the week it's where it's at!

Sean Abbotts

Amazing brunch! I've tried the brisket, potato cakes, bacon, and Croque Madame. Everything was stellar. Definitely a new favorite spot. Really dug sitting at the bar and watching the food being prepared.
