We shared an omelet which was very good. However, the hashbrowns were slightly over done. The coffee was good but the cups had to many chips and that's a NO,NO! I wish they would devote more time to general clean up. Other than that I'll return. PS. They sure give you plenty of food.

We had breakfast in Medford this morning, steel cut oatmeal, with cran-raisins. The amount was enough for a grizzly bear, I could only eat 1/2 my suggestion would be asking for a small bowl, there wasn't enough room for butter, brown sugar and cream. It was so delicious my husband also had the oatmeal and ate his entire bowl. All we. Eeded was a child then it would have been the 3 bears eating porage.

Our server was GREAT! My food however had a few issues. My "cowboy" omelette was supposed to have grilled onions but they were raw. And they brought the wrong kind of potatoes. They did bring me another full plate and the omelette was good but the hash browns were dry and a bit burnt.

Picked the Black Bear Diner because it was right off of I-5 and we were getting pretty hungry during our 9 hour drive down to San Francisco. Felt like we were waiting for quite a bit before our food came out (probably just because we were hungry), but it was worth the wait. The burger was delicious and massive. The french fries were really good too and it all hit the spot. Would recommend to burger lovers passing through town.

Told us it would be a 20 minute wait for a table and it took 45 minutes. Then it took over an hour from the time we sat down until we got our food. I had a veggie burger and it was still cold in the middle. We were very disappointed with our first visit here.

If i could do a negative 2 i would we had 7 people they were not busy at all waiting over an hour after we ordered and the waitress said after we asked about our food that we were not going to get it anytime soon lmao she said they were to busy with a large group of 50 in the back and they were coming in separately and haven't even started our food so we would be better off going somewhere else unbelievable I've given great reviews to this business don't see that ever happening again

The food here is delicious and ample sized portions! I should have split a dish with my husband, but we had lots of left overs to take home. We had 14 in our group and they seated us in a huge dining area in the back of the restaurant and the waitress did a phenomenal job of serving us and didn't mix up our orders. We called ahead and so there was no wait when we got there. Very cool decorations with bears and outdoorsy stuff. Very nice place and I highly recommend!

Excellent food and service. Black Bear theme is carried all through the restaurant, and is really cute. My only thing: the coffee is very strong. But I think most people prefer it that way, so I'm probably the exception.

Very filling food and rustic vibe that cones with every Black Bear, it toom a bit to recieve seat and service was moderately slower than expected but it was busy. Otherwise some great filling potatoes and chicken fried steak!

Overpriced and underwhelming. Egg yolks were overcooked and firm when I specifically ordered them runny. Chicken Apple sausage was okay, but not as good as the frozen ones I microwave at home, the sourdough toast was tough, and the hash browns were slightly undercooked inside. Coffee tasted like Folger's (weak yet bitter) and came with the same shelf-stable creamer you'd get at a gas station, yet it cost about the same as good coffee at Starbucks. Portions are generally pretty large there, and the omelettes looked tastier than what I got, but I left feeling like my $17 was poorly spent.

I had one of their smaller plates which seemed expensive for the amount. I gather they pride themselves on large servings so I wanted the smaller choice. I had the patty melt which was good, although it had raw red onions on it rather than sauteed onions. I wish when restaurants make changes to a classic, they would make it clear on the menu -- I really like sauteed onions! It did bug me that I paid 2.79 for a cup of regular coffee which was never even topped off. By the time they asked, I was ready to leave. I'll probably stop there again, though.

Food is tasty and usually quite filling. They have bacon ranch and I enjoy it, which means it's better than most places ranch (not quite Little Pantry perfection but still good). Nice atmosphere here, very outdoorsy and bear-oriented. Staff is usually pleasant. Missing last star for cleanliness and wait times. They usually seat you rather quickly, but when you're done with your meal and go up to pay it can take a while for someone to help you.

Same good quality food you expect at Black Bear. Really nice gift shop and display for that, festive Christmas decorations for the time of year and clean. Wasn't very busy and we were neglected. The servers didn't fill/offer to fill our coffee and they didn't check in on us very often. Asked for ranch for my daughter's fries, waitress came back 20 minutes later with no ranch or offer of coffee refill and both mine and my fiance's cups we're empty. Had to chase down the waiters or go to the station to actually get someone. Good hot sauce and we bought some to take home for stocking stuffers. I hope I get better service if I decide to stop there again.

Black Bear Diner is *always* a good place to eat. They serve breakfast all day which is my favorite meal when I can't figure out what I'm hungry for. On this day I had the sweet cream pancakes which are the best! Normally, I don't care for pancakes, but these are really good. I also had sausage and hashbrowns. Black Bear's sausage is also really good; not the typical skinny sausages here. My daughter had the California omelette. It was full of avacado, mushrooms and jack cheese and it comes with many bread and potato choices. If you leave Black Bear hungry it won't be because you didn't get enough food. They fill their huge plates. They also have food for the lighter appetite but you still get plenty of food. I really like their bear claws. While it's in season try the strawberry pie; peach and chocolate cream are also delicious. The bread pudding is ok but it's a little dry for my taste. The staff is always friendly. Our waitress was friendly and helped me put the items that I thought would need to be ordered ala carte into a combination which saved me a few bucks. If you're choosing between Black Bear Diner and another restaurant choose Black Bear. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all great.

Service was friendly, quantity of food matched quality of food. We were in a group of 8 & made no reservation, yet we were seated in a timely fashion, drink orders were taken & food orders in almost perfect timing. Our food was served within a reasonable time frame & our waitress was helpful & attentive. I would've given 5 stars if straws were left with our sodas automatically & if extra plates were given after I mentioned 2 kids would be splitting up their meals. Either way, it was affordable, friendly, delicious & fun. :-)

We stopped in for lunch on our way home from vacation. No one ate much breakfast because we were rushing to get on the road. By noon, we were good and hungry. Everyone knows there is no better place to go when you're hungry than Black Bear Diner. The Medford location, like all BBD, was quick to get us a table. Half of us got breakfast, and half lunch. I had the California omelet, which was loaded with avocado and mushrooms. The missus had the blackberry stuffed french toast, which is a hugh bear claw filled with blackberries. My son had the barbeque brisket burger. His girlfriend had the turkey club. Everything was superb. The dishes looked like they had just come out of the dishwasher when we left! Full and happy. Total out the door 43 bucks plus tip.

A recent trip to the Medford location confirms that formula is still alive and well. They've even kept up with trends and added avocado toast to the menu...

Food was great and portions (in Black Bear style) were enormous! I had the Shasta Scramble and my son had the Biscuits and Gravy with scrambled eggs. The server was very nice and chatty, but he left us for very long periods at a time when the restaurant wasn't very busy. We had to wait to get empty water and coffee cups filled and for the check to be delivered. My take, great place unless you're in a big hurry (which we weren't)! If the service after the plates were delivered was more frequent I would have given it 5 stars!
