Such a cute vegan restaurant. The tea experience was exquisite. Would definitely go back to try the rest of the menu.

This place is absolutely fantastic. It's small, like maybe 30 seats and 5 tables. But the food and service is delivered with such an incredible touch! The tea pouring was a 3 minute demonstration and a magical experience. The food was beautiful - served like a work of art! I've been at fine dining restaurants that could learn from Ichiza Kitchen. The employees all have a cool Portland punk look to them and they are literally the nicest, most amazing people I have ever met. Everything is vegan. As a meat eater, I forgot until someone reminded me at the end! This is one of those restaurants that you just tell everyone about.

Emmy Kennedy

I ordered some vegan “pork” buns to go and it wasn’t until after I left that I realized they are actual BUNS. So cute AND so good! The staff are very sweet and helpful as well.

Sarah Kirk

Great place to go for some delicious vegan food. The portions are giant so pace yourself.

Big Ez

Let me tell you, the vegan adobo is amazing and nothing will top some delicious halo halo after you get done eating!

Kathryn Hoffberg

Really amazing flavors. Vegan menu that will not disappoint. If you share the prices are super reasonable. If you're looking for a "Portland" experience, I highly reccomend. Great food, cute restaurant, nice wait staff.

Tal Caspi

My favorite restaurant in Portland. The service and food are outstanding! Do your self a favor and get there.

Truely some of the most well thought out food in Portland, executed perfectly. Having been here twice, I can say that each visit was as delicious as it was unique. This restaurant is truely curated with a care that few places even scratch the surface of. It is small inside, as should be expected of something with this much intentionality behind it, so don't expect rushed service or large restaurant attitude. 10/10

OMG this place is wonderful!!! My boyfriend and I went for dinner and everything was absolutely wonderful, we even went again the next day!! Setting was very small and cozy. Staff was so friendly and super helpful with any questions. Wontons and dumplings with the adobe are an absolute must!! I'm so glad we tried this place out and will definitely be going again.

Waited an HOUR for a table with my date in the freezing cold earlier this year. There is limited seating and is only outside as the restaurant only has about 10 small tables. My food gave me a huge stomach ache that lasted from shortly after that dinner until the next day. I do not recommend.

Such good food! The fake chicken tasted better than real chicken! The Tea was fabulous! Oh my goodness that Ice cream with banana lumpia was to die for! Totally worth the wait.

Xinping Yuan

Adobo is a bit too sour... I never had the authentic one so not the best judge. Overall service and atmosphere are good!

mary huang

very courteous service but a small place. so be prepared to wait. variety of selections. but i’ve eaten most of the dishes the Asian way so it wasn’t to my liking. however i do have to give the chefs credit for cooking them.

Brian Bennett

Phenomenal flavor and super chill vibe. Love it.

Amber Cruz

A lot of delicious and wonderful, unique vegan goodies

Mia Kelly

Wonderful food, wonderful service!

Very cozy, cute and intimate spot. The staff is great and the food is tasty! Must visit to appreciate...

This is one of my favorite vegan restaurants. I had the pleasure of visiting here for the first time last weekend and had one of the best dining experiences of my life. All of the food was perfect, and our host was stupendous. Not only were they incredibly nice, but their tea expertise between pouring and knowledge of the different teas themselves was impeccable! The coolest part of all, was that I was wearing my Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild shirt, while remastered Zelda music was playing, and our host was wearing a cropped Zelda hoodie. The restaurant is small, I think there was only like 8 tables, but this makes for the perfect dining experience. You are never waiting long for food when you are at your table, since the chefs don't have to cook for as many people. This may be one of the greatest restaurants in existence. All vegan, perfectly delicious food, and incredible atmosphere with amazing staff. We were lucky enough to get in before the rush of people, as when we left there was a long line and wait list, which after reading this review, I'm sure if you made it through this review, you understand why.

Great food. professional friendly staff. I highly recommend this place it never disappoints.

The whole experience here was amazing! Kade gave us the perfect recommendations (get the wontons, they're delicious) and I feel like I want Ryan to be my new best friend. The space is small and intimate, so we had a little bit of a wait, but it was totally worth it. Thank you for the amazing dinner, friends! We'll be back, for sure.

Andrew Hoffmann

The entire experience was fantastic! It was great to have such great quality tea. And the butterfly pea flower lemonade was a fun and delicious drink as well. All of the food was incredible, and the seasonings and flavors were fresh and unique. I will definitely be back. 10/10 would recommend to Queen of England.

We came here after a long day of walking Portland and were surprised to find that it is situated literally right next to Vtopia, another vegan spot. They even share the same door in the middle of the restaurant. We waiting about 35 minutes to be seated. The place is very small and limited in space. No reservations accepted. We only tried their appetizers. We tried their Yue Choy (grilled Chinese brassica dressed in a sweet dark soy sauce), the Shumai (four "money bag" dumplings filled with shrimp* and pork*, dressed with a ginger and green onion sauce), the Ba Wan Buns (three steamed tapioca dumplings filled with bamboo shoot, shiitake mushroom, and pork* with a spicy tomato-based dipping sauce), and the Cheung Fun (wide rice noodle folded with shrimp*, bacon*, pork* sung and fried garlic dressed with a sweet soy sauce). The wait to get the food was about 30 minutes after we sat and the server did not stop by to check on our table. It was rather loud but the food was alright. The shumai was probably the best out of the four appetizers we had. It came with a side of what tasted like ponzu sauce, which I love! The Cheung Fun was filling and interesting, to say the least. As for the Ba Wan Buns, they are "bunny" shaped, a bit disturbing and the Yue Choy, as some other reviewers have said it on other platforms, was hard to eat as they all connected like spaghetti, I ended up using my hands although I think I could have asked for a fork. We might give it a second shot when we are back in Portland. Their tea presentation was unique, I'll give it that.

a lovely little place with all vegan food. Mr. Bunbury, if he were one to venture up to the city would make it his second home. instead, he will order many of the delicious cheeses to go and have a bunburyist pick them up. wines available, and dressings made on location. the staff is quite lovely and wonderful to chat with for a spell.

Joshua Mendoza

Wow, amazed by the quality of service, food and creativity in all of the dishes. Every item that we ordered had mind blowing unique flavors with incredible plating. Prices are amazing considering the level of quality each one of these dishes portrayed. It blows my mind that such elevation is produced in such a tiny kitchen. Almost couldn't even find the place because it is hidden in the side of a building. Would heavily suggest this place to anyone vegan or not. Most would not even be able to tell that the dishes are vegan.

Christopher Read

We loved this place. Delicious food, amazing intimate service.

Angelica Perez

My to go place when I'm craving Ramen! Love the ambient really relaxing. Try to get there when it's not busy.

Silla Ruiz

This all vegan spot has delicious small dim sum type plates as well as a few noodle and rice dishes. There is a large menu for tea and sake as well. Everything we tasted was delicious, but my favorite was the chili wontons and mapo tofu bowl, the latter being large enough to split. There was even a few sweet offerings if you have room. Cozy interior and a super friendly wait staff made this meal worth it!

jubrili

Holy smokes this place is delicious. I will need to work some OT so that I can explore the entire menu :)

This little hole in the wall doesn't feel so much like a hole in the wall. The small space is well optimized and nicely decorated, the music is always great, and the staff is wonderful. Also the food is always fresh and delicious. If you go through the door for the restroom and find yourself in the cheese shop nextdoor, don't be alarmed. Just turn left, head toward the counter, and when you get there the bathroom is on the left. Sadly I haven't been back in a while because the wait times got a little out of control, but I think about it all the time.

Lovely Japanese vegan restaurant in Goose Hollow. It is really near downtown, delicious food and nice decoration. However, there is limited free parking and long waiting time during weekend (30 - 45mins). Overall, it is good

I stopped in one evening on a business trip to Portland with the intention of having a dinner one evening. Before my trip was over I ended up eating here 3 times in total. The food is incredible, and the staff is personable.

Marc Thayer

By now I've been enough times where I've tried most of the food and desserts on the menu. Everything always surprises me with how good it all is. A couple dishes no longer on the menu were just okay, but there's no need to discuss those since they're not an option any longer. The dish I always come back to is the Adobo Big Bowl, and the Chili Oil Wontons might need to become a regular order as well.

Aditya Shirode

Great food! Definitely try a tea! One tip would be to go early (before 7:30-8) to get on the waiting list.

Mark Straub

Incredible! Might be the best vegan meal I've ever had.

Jumping for Joy

Small place that has long waits at times. Dishes are a little pricey. With that said, food is quite delicious here! Vegan Japanese food is a rarity you get to experience at Ichiza. So much mouth watering umami! Servers are friendly and accommodating. Gluten free options are available. I think the best thing about eating here is their mock meats. Lovely tea selection too!

We were so excited to find an all vegan restaurant that served something more than just the usual Mac-n-cheez or black bean burgers. Ichiza Kitchen surpassed our expectations! The food was delicious, and the desserts were sublime. Dishes were beautifully presented. We will definitely be back on every return trip to Portland. Highly recommended!

Jennifer Huang

Amazing menu with really friendly and attentive service, which is hard to come by these days! The dining room is rather small and the building itself is a bit dated. However the quality of the food makes up for what the location lacks. If you are vegan or vegetarian and have been craving dim sum, this is the place to go!

Wayne Schiller

This was my first time here. I hear the wait for this delight can be up to two hours. Thank goodness I came at a time when we were able to walk in an immediately get a table. I would have been turned off by the wait and not had the opportunity to fully understand why people would wait that long or longer. The people who prepare and bring you your food are very sweet and attentive. The food they bring is out of this world delicious! Spices are used expertly and the portions are perfect. The sake we had was fruity and paired wonderfully with the various dishes we had. Bravo! I’ll be a regular.

Andrew Plitt

The food here is absolutely delicious and, as a bonus, it is all vegan. It is quite pricey for the portion sizes, but the food's flavor and quality offer excellent compensation for the assault on your bank account. There's not much in the way of airflow through the restaurant, so if you visit in the summer, try for outdoor seating. Every time I have visited, the people working here have been very helpful and courteous. I would recommend this restaurant to any vegan or omnivore with an adventurous palate and a love for good food.

Vikas Rao

The small dish options and Sake tated good.

Shemaia

Excellent quality, tiny space. We waited about an hour for a space in the micro-sized Ichiza. Had we realized it was a special menu, we would have returned a different day. The special Filipino menu offered expressive items that were clearly of high quality and seemed to be very authentic vegan versions of traditional foods. The flavors were not to my liking, but I was still impressed by the level of artistry and work to replicate fried eggs, fish and other items. Would definitely return again to try their regular menu.

Devon Menendez

One of the best vegan joints ive been to. Everything from the tea to bowls was top notch.

Sofia Chacon

Worth the wait! Great food and tea!

Chris Taylor

This tiny vegan place is a powerhouse of deliciousness. We ordered (almost) the entire starter menu. I lament so greatly that I forgot to take pictures. It was an amazing display of colors and foods and sauces. Everything was great. I think any carnivore could be happy and satiated eating a meal here. Some could even be converted. Ichiza also offers a great tea menu and they have a cool little tea ceremony (for lack of a better word) setup that they bring it out on. It really breaks my heart that I forgot pictures, as my words aren't justice. If you're in the area, try Ichiza and fall in love with their food, their drink, and their incredibly friendly staff.

Wonderful tea service and great food

Elena Leslie

Waited an HOUR for a table. Saw the two full tables outside receive only an appetizer and tea service In That hour. On one of the hottest days of the year and, no water was offered to the many guests standing uncomfortably outdoors waiting to be seated. If the food is good, I sure wouldn’t know. We left and received a call from the restaurant a full hour and 15 mins after we first signed the list to be seated, btw, this was on a Monday.

Matt Creaser

Wow! Everything here was completely delicious. The Shumai was incredible, and their fake chicken meat was some of the best I've had. Amazing spot even if you're not vegan or vegetarian.

James Smith

There are so many great things to say about Ichiza. It has personality, creativity, ambience and, best of all, flavour. Let's talk about the food: The Shumai sauce is deeply fragrant and an incredible accompaniment to the

Tasty, cool vegan food. I loved it! The waiter was really nice and had great suggestions. I recommend the chili wontons and shumai. Hope to come back soon and try their entrees and sake.

Denver Garrison

What a great experience. We must have come at a good time because the wait was not there for us. My girl and I got seated and helped right away. The menu is really short and to the point (which is what a good menu really should be) with a good array of options. The food itself was really good! I'm not vegan, but my girlfriend is. the adobo chicken was actually really good and as an omnivore, I'd eat it again. Even though the "chicken" was fake, I loved it. Their vegan bacon and shrimp... Eh. I'd pass if you aren't vegan. Their prices are pretty high though, so keep that in mind. The setting was great; it is in a converted house so you can still see the roof where they laid the plywood. Pretty neat. Overall a positive experience! Oh and you can eat the orchid! That's really a new one for me.

Chris R

Incredible! What a find! If all vegan food were like this I'd eat vegan all the time. Wonderful food.

Bhargavi Karumanchi

Really enjoyed our dinner at Ichiza Kitchen. Small place but amazing food! Din't really know you could get quite creative with vegan food. We had the chili oil wontons, ichiza noodle soup and a refreshing butterfly lemonade. We also loved the perfect summer dessert - mango chili and ice cream sundae! Very friendly staff too. Definitely going back to try more dishes

Wilson Chen

My first meal in Portland. I am not a vegan but the food here does give me positive thoughts about this city. Highly recommended.

Samuel Cooper

Wonderful experience. A must visit for anybody visiting Portland (particularly so if you're vegan). Very reasonable prices, helpful staff with suggestions and divine food. The best meal I've had in over a month. My only regret is that I live half way around the world and returning isn't quite that easy.

Lauren Castaneda

The food was absolutely delicious with gorgeous presentation. Staff was polite and personable. The whole experience was worth way more than you pay for.

Donna Trilli

Great food. Caring staff.

Andrea Hamberg

Delicious food and wonderful, friendly service. A great place to go in Portland!

Donna Van Wyk

Really liked some of the starters. Others were okay. Not crazy about the teas. But overall experience was good
