Great variety of food!! They have everything it seems. Full buffet of drinks as well. Slushies, sodas, tea, coffee, milk, chocolate milk. Full dessert bar too. Lots to choose from and tastes great too.

Food was ok. Had a good time due to the company. Nothing terrible, but nothing superior either. Haven't been in over 10 years. A little pricey or maybe I am just cheap. $15 for an adult dinner on a Sunday and if you want drinks, it is an additional $3. I just got the free water. I don't like to stuff myself so I just got a salad and a light meal.

This place was not good at all. Over cooked meatloaf, orange chicken was not good,Mac and cheese was watery not thick and homestyle, tea had a funny flavor, and the baked beans had too much BBQ sauce in them. Until they change those horrible recipes I will not set foot in there again.

It's nostalgic for me, and you can get a lot of food for a reasonable price, however there's not a lot in the way of help with questions. Can't find the butter? Too bad. Btw it's at the end of the taco bar.

Received a nice big piece of roast beef, but the crust was so burnt and I couldn't even chew it. Once again I had to pick and choose with the chicken to find the pieces that were fully cooked as a lot of it was not. Every time I've been there the bathrooms are just terrible so that you don't even want to use it.

Went to the Janesville, WI Hometown Buffet and was not pleased today. There was very little choice of meat to choose from. Why charge so much and not have much of a choice. Unless this improves I will not be back for Lunch.

We went there last week for lunch and it cost 33 dollars for food that wasn’t worth putting on a plate. The only thing that was any good at all was the Apple Dessert! Everything else that the three of us tried was horrible and not fit for throwing out to the hogs! We will never step foot back into the doors of this place!

Never again. As a family of 4 with two grown boys, we know our buffets. Most of the meats were overcooked and dry. The fish tasted like frozen fish from a box. The veggies seemed the same. About the only decent thing was the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Everything else was bland, overcooked, needing seasoning. My husband, who'll eat just about anything, did not like HomeTown. We couldn't find much that we liked. Everything was a let down. We left dissatisfied. The staff at front desk was pushy and speedy, not a chance to think before paying...get them in, get them out. I'll never stop at a HomeTown again.

I stopped at Home Town Buffet for lunch, for the first and last time. Canned, lukewarm vegetables, odd-tasting mashed potatoes, soggy, slimy rolls. I got a lemonade but when I took a sip, there was no lemon, it was just plain water. The only decent (and edible) things were the organic greens at the salad bar, so I ended up paying $10 for a plate of lettuce. To add insult to injury, the bathrooms were dirty. I will never go there again

I will start this overly negative review on a positive. This being written after my very first, and last visit to HomeTown Buffet, I am acknowledging the salad bar was good. Everything I saw and sampled from the salad bar seemed fresh and there was a lot of variety, despite the fact the Cesar Salad bowl was empty when we got there, and was not filled again before we left. So, that was the only positive about this visit. I have not had under-seasoned, overly cooked, bland food in quite a while. And it seemed if there was any seasoning, it was sugar only. FFS, the cornbread dressing was as sweet as cake ! And besides that, there were chunks of onion and celery as big as a matchbook in the macaroni salad, but the very worst was the "fried fish". It was so foul and smelled so fishy, I was afraid it had gone bad, and I was unwilling to even use the same fork again. I just gave up, and we left. I can not understand the other reviews here claiming the food to be good, and I can only mark that down as proof some people will eat anything. Just save your money, go to the grocery store and purchase a frozen dinner of some sort, really anything would be better than the HomeTown Buffet.

This is a buffet where you can get in and out very quickly but it would take very special circumstances for me to come back. Private parking lot in the middle of a strip mall. Plenty of parking. The food is plentiful but the quality is low. Shabby utensils, cheap food that is not cooked properly, and not enough options. The staff tries their best but the staff is not the issue. The staff was actually good. They do have ice cream machines, yogurt machines, and slushie machines. Very cool. Won't be too angry to come back but I will never come here on my own.

Today's experience was not the greatest, although it was not entirely the staff's fault. Half way through my salad I discovered a half eatin cucumber. Later in my visit I observed multiple people grabbing touching plates and putting them back in the clean stack. Eww. Finally to top it off, I witness at least three people grabbing with there bare hands dessert toppings 2 and three times. Sorry for the pun. Gross non the less. Squeamish in portland.

A rare treat this quality buffet restaurant. Occasionally I go but am yet to be surprised by burgers being included in the offering. Good quality, and it is a shame there are not other American buffets here. Good variety, and excellent quality. Though, still, no hamburgers perhaps that you could put together yourself from ingredients paid out as is their taco bar. I know a hamburger bar.

Still reliable. All-you-can-eat buffets aren't everyone's thing but they have a niche audience. In my experience, as both all-yous and chain restaurants go, Home Town is pretty good. They've always had a decent selection of food, which has only been expanded and now includes 5 (or 6?) separate "tables," including a carving station and a larger area for desserts. Food is replenished often, even within the last half-hour before closing (though I noticed attention being paid to them even later, since they don't rush late arrivals). Freshness is always desirable. The food is generally well prepared (and, because it's changed out often, seems less likely to develop the overcooked, steam table appearance and texture that so many people dislike). Having not been to one in at least a half-dozen years, I was a bit taken aback that dinner (+ beverages) for two adults (there's no senior rate) came to $29.56 (though I realize that's only $11.99 for food and $2.79 for drinks -- entirely reasonable in today's market). We no longer eat as much as we once did, so all-yous aren't as great a deal for us as they are for some but it is still nice to have so many food options.

It was terrible. Had to ask for sugar packets. Then decided to have the green tea instead. That was giving only water. Decided to try the sweet tea. That was empty. I was going to have the unsweetened tea but the cover was off and I didn't know what was going on with it. None of the food was labeled so you had no idea what you were talking to eat. The meatballs were cold. Had to ask what the deep fried squares were. Was told it was fish. It was over fried. The rest of the food was barely warm. We have never had such a bad experience.

I went here with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised. It was very busy but we found seats quickly. The food was pretty good. Really cool how they have the separate areas; Mexican, market, Italian, desserts, etc. Kids loved the variety and of course the slushies!! Some of the best foods were the popcorn shrimp, salad bar, baby back ribs and the carrot cake (so good). The servers were very friendly and cleaned our plates very quickly!! Overall a very good experience.

If you have a hearty appetite then this is your place. Different nights with different entrees. And if you have kids check out the dates that your kids eat almost for free. Since I've gotten older I don't eat that much anymore so it's a rare treat to visit one of my old favorite places. The staff is very friendly and attentative. And the food is so good so I recommend you stop by with your family.

I have been coming here for over 4 yrs. Most of the people working there no us and are super friendly to me and my children. The food is usually pretty fresh and the lines aren't very long. edit. Went today for a kid free date with my boyfriend. Service was friendly and staff pleasant. Boyfriend, however said the pulled pork had a blah flavor and unsavory texture. Knocked my 5 star to 3. The guy whom was making the omelets was collecting his tip money and drop a dollar bill in the sausage pan, then he asks me what would I like and I ask him, aren't you gonna change those sausages? He said, "why? Because I drop a dollar in it and barely touch it?." And I said, "yes " and he said, well I dont have any sausage, it's there anything else that you would like?. I just walk away, I didn't like his attitude. He shouldn't be touching money, specially when he's making others people food and he should apologize for his mistake and fix the issue instead of getting all offended because someone told him how to do his job right.

After my last visit, the food has definitely improved. Foods that tasted great this visit (1/31/19 at 4:45pm) included the spaghetti and orange chicken. My kids like the popcorn shrimp, fried chicken, and pizza. The salad bar was great as well. Worth mentioning, the waitresses are very friendly, prompt, and courteous.

Guys you need to either make changes on your food or change the chef cause I’m pretty sure that in a no far future you are running out of business. Think about your workers. I went with my daughter and we tried a couple of stuffs and not even the mashed potatoes were good only the deserts, the vanilla and strawberry ice cream tasted like medicine. This a place that people go to eat and pay for it. Customers wants to satisfy their hunger not to give money away.

It was busy, but clean. Employees were visibly keeping an eye on and restocking food, drinks, and utensils while we were there. With the selection of drinks and desserts, the price is worth it. There are some foods better than others here- the chicken and potatoes were fantastic. Food included salad bar, mac n cheese, Chinese food, pizza, chicken, and potatoes (mashed, homestyle, fries...) We plan to return :)

We went in and even on a coupon special and they charged quite a bit. The food had set out for a long time quite a few of the trays were empty and we're not refilled for a very long time and they generally don't turn food over very fast. The food was very very salty. I learned one thing today, don't be the first one to get in at Home Town Buffet, in Janesville, Wi. You don't get all fresh necessarily, you get yesterday's left overs served first for the new day. The salad spring mix was so nasty. It was like they dumped the old stuff on the top. I went and got a kitchen lady and showed her. She was not a happy person just plain grumpy it seemed. The dessert pies were dry and rubberiery-like where they had been cut the day before. The other salad toppings, sunflower seeds, raisins, baco-bits, etc had bits a pieces of other toppings in their containers. I expect that later in the day, but I was the first person in today! Even the shedded carrots were whitish where they had been sliced a day before. I usually like going to this HTB, it was an eye opener for me today.

This place has gone down hill so bad!!!! The last three times I have gone have been soooo disappointing!! I keep telling myself that maybe it has gotten better, nope and I will not ever go back ! For two of us it was over $30 and everything was over cooked/ dried out- empty - it was dirty - food on the floor - table was nasty and bathroom had toilet paper all over! If you ask me, for the price you pay you should at least have quality food and a clean place to sit- the only good thing was our waitress!!!

There is nothing in this place that is great. Some of the food is just downright bad. It is your typical all you can eat buffet but the food quality is lacking severely. It isn't the worst place I've been but it is definitely not a place I would consider going back to unless if I was starving. A lot of the food is bland. When trying to get some prime rib they want to shave off a 1/16 inch thin piece. Have to argue with the lady about what I want.
