Great Korean food! Reasonable price! Wonderful service!
The food definitely has that homemade feel. Place is clean, food is definitely perfect and the Korean lady who served us was so nice. I would definitely come back here again.
good honest korean food. only open 6-8 months, but they seem like veterans. aweosme food, good value, but annoying Kpop music....
Dinner combination provides a dish that will leave you very full.
The food is great, the staff is friendly and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. I've been coming here for the past 5 months and they have been exceedingly consistent. If you come Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights, expect a 10 to 20 minute wait.
Awesome Korean spot, delicious food and super nice employees. Had a big group and a couple obnoxious people but they were still so nice so really appreciate them. Great Korean food and atmosphere.
Nice casual place for quick and tasty Korean comfort food! Bibimbap, Bulgogi, KimChee stew etc. Decent prices on the fairly extensive menu as well. K-Pop videos and friendly staff lighten up the atmosphere perfectly.
Good service. Nice atmosphere
Excellent food. Good decor. Friendly service.
Has most of my favorite Korean dishes all in one place. Great food and service too.
Oh my, Sooo Goood!
Good food, prices a little high for the neighborhood.
First of ALL the owner lady waitress is RACIST. If you are not WHITE don't go to her restaurant. She will treat you very bad. I feel bad when people don't respect you because of your skin color. RACIST Expensive food ..
Delicious authentic dishes, full service, amd fun K-pop music videos playing in the background
Not a great meal. It was all very generic "Asian" flavors that tasted like they came from sauces purchased at a Cash & Carry. The service was fast and pleasant. Was fairly expensive for portions given and for the quality of the meats that were served. The pork was tough and dry and tasted like ketchup. The beef was stringy and overcooked and had a sickeningly sweet teriyaki flavor. The potstickers tasted like they were freezer burned. I have no plans to return.
I'm not typically a fan of fusion restaurants, but I found the food at Chungdam to be pretty authentic and very similar to what I got at restaurants in Seoul. I had the kimchi jeon and the seafood dol sot bibimbap, and I enjoyed both. The bibimbap was a little heavy on the gochujang, but nothing unreasonable. I'm really looking forward to sampling more of the menu on future visits.
Good food, nice presentation and on top of that, those little "accoutrements", those little Petri dishes that come with every meal, won me over.
I went to this place by a friend's recommendation. Their food is pretty decent korean style. We ordered a seafood pancake and a hot pot. Their small plates are average. The size of the hot pot is pretty big and enough for 3 person. I will go again for the next time to try other dishes. Their services are average. They didn't ask you a lot but probably because our dish didn't really need somebody to serve.
Ended up having the Soldier Stew, and it turned out to be on par with what we've had back in Korea. Probably one of the better, more authentic, Korean restaurants we've been to, and we've gone in New York, Texas, and Virginia. Enjoyed the experience!
Good foods, bad service.
Very delicious, great prices. Food was flavored well and service was prompt and friendly. I've only been once, but will definitely come back again.
Omg this is my favorite place I love the atmosphere and food was fantastic it’s my favorite place to go and don’t get me started on kpop I LOVE that they play kpop and just overall it’s the best place and it makes me want to go to Korea some day!!
I've lived in Portland for 3 months and have been here 5 times so I think that's saying something. I've had real Korean food in Seoul and, on the flip side, I've had totally fake Korean food in Charlottesville VA. While no US place has kimchi as potent as in Seoul, Chungdam make Korean food that's as good as anything you'll find in the US and as good as 85% of what you'll find in Seoul. Chungdam's soups are to die for, so tasty, cheap and generously portioned. Their bulgogi and it's variations are overpriced, but still very good. Their menu is awesomely simple; they try to do a few things well instead of everything mediocre, and it really shows in their delicious food. Eric and Moon are always very professional and offer up new side dishes if you run out. Half the side dishes are different every time you're there. Very cool and hearty soup dinner for 2 for around $20, couldn't recommend it more.
I have it 4 cause it's expensive, however, don't be discouraged they have really good food.
Authentic yummy food.
Love authentic Korean food and music dvd on the TV.
The service here is very rude. When the waitress came over to get our order, we asked what type of meal (meat, rice, soup) the neighboring table had ordered because it looked good. But the waitress pointed to a dish on the menu and left us to tend another family that had come in later than we had. She ignored us for a long time even though we said we were ready to order once again. However, once our food came out, she set the soup down on the table in a very rude and obnoxious way. We will never return again.
It's not as good as i expected.
Had the tofu stew and beef bulgogi with a kimchi pancake to start. Everything was delicious!

Good service and delicious food!
Great tasting food, portions are generous and meals come with a good variety of tasty side dishes. The beef bulgogi had a little too much sweetness for my liking, but the beef short ribs and dumplings were really good. The people are very friendly.
Great authentic Korean food. Kimchi jigae, bibimbap and bulgogi can all be recommended
I almost want to be selfish and not review this place to keep it a secret. But.... that would be wrong. Oh. Your. God. Go to this restaurant. Everything here is delicious. It's not for vegetarians. If you like Korean food. This place is a must. Small, can get crowded. K-pop is on a big screen plays non stop. Staff is delightful.
The bibimbop was delicious! It was as good as I had in South Korea. My daughter and her husband who spent 5 years in Korea enjoyed it very much.
Gross bad service
Great Korean food if sometimes you don't want to grill your own.
Kimchi Jigae and Bibimbap was sooooo delicious. Really nice place with awesome food.
Came with family ,very homey Korean returant, tasty food came quickly, lots of dishes to try, they replenished the ban chan without question, had the tofu soup, chicken and cheese plater dumplings, very tastes not the peak Korean experience of my life but good solid local food, would defininatly go back
Lived in Seoul and this place reminded me of the places I used to go to around the corner from my apartment.I love soondubu and they make a great one here. Order some makgeolli for the table you'll get brownie points from the wait staff :) Loved this place and want to go back all the time!
got our food a litte slow but other than that it was great!!
The food came out really fast! The portions are generous and the service was very friendly!
Casual dining experience. Not many vegetarian options but server was very sweet and thoughtful in making recommendations. Bibimbap was tasty. I'd come here again
Food is consistent and their Dolsot Bibimpap is really good.
The bone broth soup was crazy good!
We came here for lunch on New Year Day (our very first time). We were seated, started ordering and waited for our food to come out. Then half hour later, the waitress (same one) came out and asked us: "sorry, what did you guys order, I totally forgot?"
Had a great meal, I enjoyed the beef and spicy pork bulgogi. The side dishes were different and made the experience and flavours better. A but pricey but overall delicious.
Unexpectedly Great
Tasty real Korean food. Not fusion.
Mostly disappointing. Not very good food and very expensive. Not authentic. Super greasy.
가격좋고 양많고 맛있고 3박자가 맞음
Amazing I love the food and a good source of kpop
Nice authentic korean food
Tashi and his crew have great service !
Food was delicious. Service was great. Only problem was that the restaurant was really cold.
I would have enjoyed the experience if I received what I ordered. The soondubu tofu soup should not taste like sausage. They served another style korean dish not thinking we would notice. It tasted like southern style seafood gumbo, nothing like korean soondubu. Get you stuff right guys.
Korean cusines with a twist. Not as spicy as traditional Korean cusines but in a good way. When I was there all customers are Korean descendants and this says a lot.
Myself and three others were seated and waited thirty minutes without so much as a server glancing in our direction. I made multiple attempts to politely get a server's attention that were completely ignored. After seeing a family who came in after us get attended to and their food served before us, we walked out. After walking out, an older woman asked if we were waiting to be seated. When I said no, and clarified that we were waiting for 30 minutes to be served, she laughed and walked back inside. This is absolute garbage service. The food looked quite delicious, but I will never know it if is or not.
Chungdam is simple, neat and friendly.
Enjoyed my unique dish.
The Bibimbap was perfect. Good quality ingredients delicately arranged, with all the pickled sides - and that yummy Korean chilli sauce. Reasonably priced. Friendly service. Deschutes beer to put icing on the cake, for a comforting finish to a Friday.
Family friendly. Excellent service. Good quality food. Large menu selection. Didn't have to wait long for the food. One serving was enough for two people.
I can't say that I ever had Korean food until I came here. This place was a pleasant surprise. It has become a regular stop.
I had the spicy stir fired squid tender meat good heat. Had to look up how to eat the food properly. The menu was not in color had to pick my dish in black and white.
I'm here saint 30 min no water or tea. I have to ask for water twice, before I got water. Plus I'm Korean too. Waking is long. Waitress got sneaky attitude.
I love all their bulgogi
Very good
Good food service dog friendly
Good Korean food and great service!
Great lunch specials. Tofu soup and bulgogi. Yummm. Really good side dishes.
So delicious. Hot pots, soondubu, scallion pancakes. All good. If they are busy, the service can be spotty, but hey snack on the banchan and relax.
족발 시키고 양 너무 적어서 뜨악했던 기억이...

Good food and very clean
We love the taste of food and it's affordable.
I had a weird dish with weird sauce, but the dumplings were good, as they are everywhere I go. A tad greasy for my taste. Good apple juice.
Nice service, good spicy food and presentation.
Always great food, varied selection of banchan & a lively atmosphere. Sadly, Buldak is only available on the weekends. It's never not busy here, during peak dining hours, you may have to wait a bit, but the food and service are worth it.
Forts time for my husband and myself ar this place AMAZING!!!!!!! Delicious!!!!! Phenomenal flavors!!! I recommend this place who love traditional Korean food. Good prices, good food.
I just went to eat here (3pm) and was told by the owner who whispered to me as not to disturb the other customers eating 'sorry that they were close' as the sign says open the door is open and google confirms they are open. Will never come back!
They smoke cigarettes in the kitchen and flick them in the food preparation sink, they don't have a valid oregon health permit to operate, no one wears gloves or washes their hands, all the food is prepped bare handed while they're wiping snot out of their nose. I've already reported them to the oregon health department, please for your sake DO NOT EAT HERE!!! THERE IS NO SAFETY OR HEALTH MEASURES TAKEN HERE!!! This is disgusting and a disgrace to everyone and every company who's doing it right!
I'm an actual Korean person that grew up eating Korean food. This place is the bomb! Prices are great and food is way better than k-town BBQ. Order the bu-dae jji gae!! (Soldier stew)
Excellent Korean food, soon du bu chigae, awesome!!! Everything was flavorful and excellent, make sure to have a bottle of soju
Legit Korean without going to Beaverton.
Very good food. Service was great.
Our first korean food in Portland and it was so delicious. We had kimchi jiggae, chicken bulgogi, and teokpokki for lunch, tasted superb. Will definitely come back.
Корея стала ближе!!! Можно почувствовать вкус корейской еды!!!
Super bland and boring food. Way under-impressed. I'm shocked that this place has so many good reviews. My girlfriend grew up in China and traveling all over Asia. She is white and can cook better Korean food than this. No flavor, no spice, and expensive for its lack of quality. I would expect this kind of food on a first attempt at cooking Korean food.
Communication is a challenge here, but the food is good. They call it Fusion, but it's fairly authentic. You can substitute kimchi 4 a meat, but be careful it is spicy.
Such a fun experience! The menu is appetizing with a great selection. The bipimbap and little side dishes are great! So is the spicy tofu soup. Korean potato salad is my new favorite thing! The price is amazing for the quantity and quality of the dishes.
It was SO good! I couldn't stop eating the delicious meats!
The bbq is delicious and the ppl treat you good. This is my go to Korean restaurant spot as long as they continue serving quality food. They have not disappointed me.
Seoul FOOD. Great
Went here last week with my husband. He's not a big fan of Asian food so I wanted to introduce him to Korean food. We ordered the bulgogi plus an appetizer. I'd have to say that I was not impressed. The bulgogi was $18 for one entree and it wasn't that flavorful and tender. I think it was overpriced for what you get. In Reading other reviews it seems like this place is hit or miss. I don't think I'll be going back. The service was average.
Fantastic, authentic South Korean food! Spicy and complex - we will be back again and again!
Loved the service, the food was perfect and it was open late.
I’ve visited this restaurant twice so far. On both occasions, I ordered their bibimbap, which was delicious! And the side dishes were equally tasty! Good portion, reasonable price. However, customer service varied—receptive and kind the first time, less attentive the second. I hope to stop by again in the future.
This is my go-to spot for Soondoobu Jigae! Always piping hot and delicious! There aren't too many Korean options on the east side compared to the west side/Beaverton area, so I was pretty happy to see this one pop up a few years ago. I go here a few times a month to get my fix. Their stews always come with an assortment of banchan (Korean side dishes). The service is always friendly but forewarning that they can get a bit overwhelmed during rushes. It's a smaller place and they usually only have one person serving. The place is always clean and the food comes out pretty quickly.
The food is full of flavor the servings are a good size great place over all!!!
My rice bowl was pretty burnt and it felt like they were understaffed. For what I ordered I felt ripped off by the price.
Wow....so good.
Great food. Great service.
One of my favorite
Nice
Love it so much. Daebak.
When we first went in, we noticed it was very clean, bright, comfortable. It also smelled good! Felt like eating hearty, tasty food cooked by a friend's mother. I'd recommend to friends.
This food tastes great. Just as good as the food I would buy from Korean restaurant in Korea!
Excellent food and prices..be patient with servers..good things come to those who wait
和女儿去吃的,我是第一次,她已经去过两次。味道还不错,环境也蛮好的,性价比还可以。小碟子的菜吃完还可以向他们要。
This place tries very hard. This place had the worst korean food ever. The food is gross. Either plain or way to spicy. I've been here twice in case i was wrong the first time, but No. They are consistent in the way their food tastes. I even thought the korean tofu place in fubon plaza was gross. But obviously, much better than this place. If you know how a krn food should taste like, avoid this place.
Lovely staff and great customer service! The food is delicious and fresh. Highly recommend!
We had dinner here last night. The food was excellent. Tasted like great home cooked Korean food. The service was awesome. Would recommend this restuarant and will be back in my next visit to Portland.
The seafood was so bad. Because The fridge was broken yesterday night.the waiter told me. Why they served bad food for costumes. I hope my stomach will not be sick! I would never never never go back!
Good
The people are so respectful to everyone, and they work so hard. The food is perfect, really reccomend this place c:
Bomb food! Tofu soup, the beef, the kimchi soup, and the bibimbap! All bomb! Must go! Highly recommend! One of the best places for Korean food!
The place is a bit small for a family of six considered the table setting, all the side dishes and plates. Food are great. Tips are required not an option. If is required, it is not a gratitude. That's not so cool.
Decently priced dinner combos with generous portions. Didn't encounter anything that was less than delicious!
Great food and wonderful staff!
