The food was on point and delicious, but the waitress was cold and rude at first. She was annoyed that we needed more time to look over the menu and drinks. Even the woman who brought my beer seemed agitated, she came over didn't say anything until I said the beer was mine. I had to crack a couple jokes to get our waitress to be nice to us and smile...this would have been a 5...but the service is what brought it down.

It’s no wonder there’s always a long line when I come in. The food is great and the staff is even better! Despite the long lines, the staff are incredibly fast and their communication is really something else. There were maybe five people in front of me in line, but within ten minutes I had my food in my hand and was out the door. I will definitely continue to frequent this location.

Our waiter was very nice and had a positive attitude our whole stay. He seemed to pop up every time we needed him. Matt was super helpful when we asked questions regarding what’s in the surrounding area. The food was absolutely amazing. Their white Queso is very cheesy and delicious. We went to Uncle Julio's last night with a party of 20 for a birthday dinner. I was very skeptical at first as we were unsure if our table would be ready at our reserved time, the hostess did not seem too confident about it. 2 minutes after our reserved time, we were seated so I was very pleased. Our server was Berkley and she did an amazing job. We did not want for anything and our order was perfect. The food was fresh and very tasty. The chocolate pinata was a blast! I will definitely go back.

The service was good, friendly staff. The bacon that was wrapped around my shrimp from the grande platter seemed to be undercooked. Just some burnt edges around the bacon and shrimp. Other than that everything else on the platter was really tasty.

Felt that it was extremely overrated. Maybe I just didn't know what to order? Margarita of the day tasted more like out of the bottle sour mix could not taste any of the muddled fruit at all. Extremely poor execution lots of ice very expensive. If it would have been good I I would have gladly given the $12 drink a great review. Very very poor even for $3

Everything looked great, and the portions were very good. I think maybe a little too good, possibly to make up for the mediocre quality of the food. The dessert was the best part, with a platter of goodies accompanied by a dessert pinata. I highly recommend Uncle Julios for parties, we had our office holiday party here and were quite satisfied overall.

The food was great, fresh and tasty! Quality decor! I had chicken enchiladas; the green chili sauce was the best and mildly seasoned; I preferred it to the white cream sauce. My husband had the shrimp tacos which he really enjoyed! Black and pinto beans are delicious!! The patio looked inviting with a fire pit , but it was too chilly. We were there on a Tuesday night, so it wasn't packed but the noise level was pretty high. I'll definitely go again, and maybe try another seating area.

I come for the food but I stay for the liquor. Lord that bar pours the best margaritas and they customize one just for me. All the bartenders have come to know and love me as I do them. The atmosphere is lively and fun and several of the servers will always stop by and give me a hug. This is a great, friendly place.

I had the Three Flautas. They were delicious! Also had the margarita/corona mix, which was also fantastic. Personally, I thought the rice had great flavor, but the beans not so much... Kind of like bland baked beans instead of refried beans. A little pricey, but it's still good food. I would go again.

Took mother tacos since she's recouping from insertion of pacemaker at 85 years. Raw potatoes are not nutritious with dry cold chicken. So she had a choice of shrimp, fish and chicken tacos on corn tortillas. With semi-sweet tea and fruit salad to round out a healthy lunch.

Fantastic! The in-house made trotija chips and salsas are top notch. Good selection of drinks and beers. The main food was great as well. Everything is made with excellent quality ingredients giving the meal an even more crisp and flavorful experience. Margaritas are must, as well as the chocolate pinata (its sounds like a lot but it is worth it)!

Came to Uncle Julio’s with some friends this evening. We started off with the table side guacamole and Cowboy Queso Dip thanks to a recommendation from one of the managers Sierra she knew what she was talking about. Both great choices. We then ordered our entree’s. Our server was slightly overwhelmed but it was ok because it was busy. I chose the Pollo Coronado platter. My other friends ordered the Guadalajara and my girlfriend got the Carne Asada. We ended up getting the piñata for dessert and towards the end sierra came by and checked on us again. Overall good food, service could use some work but they’re trying and we’ll be back!

This use to be one of my favorite places My wife and I have been going to this place for years always have good experience but last Saturday was not a good experience. we order Fajitas they brought them in like 5 we were suspicious I don’t think you can cook fajitas in two minutes they were cold I told them one of the servers said they will heat it Up I thought she was joking. They brought the food back this time was hot but looks like they They just heat it up my wife order the fajitas medium and they are well done at this point I don’t want to send the food back to that kitchen I just want to eat and get out .

If you don't mind waiting an unnecessarily long time to be seated even though they have PLENTY of open tables, Uncle Julio's is the place for you. If you just LOVE rude hostesses who act like you are a burden for requesting a table at the establishment they are employed at, then put Uncle Julio's on your must see list! If you appreciate great customer service and prefer to arrive at a restaurant, be seated, order, eat, pay and leave all within a reasonable amount of time... GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! I can not get over the rude brunette hostess. When I asked the other hostess her name so I could mention it to a manager she attempted to refuse to give me her name. I was patient and polite and waited and asked the other hostess and when the original hostess began to tell her my inquiry she accidentally blurted out the name of the hostess in question. So, in summation, Maddie was unbelievably rude. Our waiter was friendly and nice but I am sure he has to be the only one with any manners who I personally dealt with. One star for the great Guacamole.

I loved the Chisholm Creek location! Beautiful spot! Good views if you like to sit outside. Our waitress (Miranda Rose) was phenomenal! There was a crowd, but they were flipping tables. It was impressive. Overall wonderful experience and Thankyou to the GM for checking on us I believe her name is Sandra. The food was what really sold us, best gourmet Mexican food in OKC.

Literally set an alarm to make sure I finally got reservations to eat here and the earliest I could get in was 7:15PM. I didn't mind the timing, this is just to say that when I got there, I expected to have a great dining experience. Once we finally got sat, it took the waiter 10-15 minutes to even come get our drink orders. We all ordered water and he showed up with water with lemon. The lemons were all dunked in and the seeds were all in the bottom of our glasses. I know this sounds like white people peopleing but I don't like lemons in my water. I don't want people's nasty hands who touched those lemons in my water. This could have been fixed by asking if any of us wanted lemon. We would have all said no. It took another 10-15 for him to finally take our order. The food was the only saving grace for this place. I had already made up my mind I wouldn't be coming back, but the food is really great. I've worked in busy restaurants. I understand that this place stays busy, but if you can't keep up with tables, that's a big problem. We will most likely try this place one more time in a couple months.H they work out the kinks.

Ordered Carne Asada for the main entree, medium-well-done. It was excellent - fully cooked, yet juicy. Well done. Deleting one star because of the chips they served at the beginning. They were dripping with oil and practically tasteless (compared any other Mexican restaurant I have been to from coast to coast).

Priced kind of high but you get very generous portions. Typical Mexican restaurant but very pleasant atmosphere. DO NOT GET THE SWIRL FROZEN MARGARET! Personally, it tasted like fruity throw up. Only bright side was it was happy hour and I got two dollars off my drink.

The filet mignon fajitas are so bomb. Ask them to slice it very thin and get a side of the avocado crema. Fresh tortillas, chips, and ingredients every time. The margaritas are so good- reccomend the grapefruit. I wish they brought back the berry margaritas with the freeze dried puffs they did at the table-- that was amazing!

This place I found that the servers are lacking in friendlyness, the menu is great if you want to order booze and eat over priced appetizers. in the food part there isn't much to choose from. Went for the first time 5/30/19. Waitress was decent enough. Food is wildly overpriced. I had the chicken fajitas and they were mediocre. The meal was supposed to also come with rice and beans. When I asked the waitress why I didn’t get them, her answer was, I can box some up for you to go. I would seriously doubt if I’ll ever be back there. Plenty of better Mexican places out there with better food, service and prices!!

I walked in the restaurant at 953p there are probably about 15 to 20 pleople in there. I watch 5 server walk by me and no one said hi. After waiting for 10 minutes I got up and left at which point the young lady says oh I was going to grab you chips and salsa thats why I hadn't came over. But yet your hands are empty. This was my first time visiting and it will be my last.

I was skeptical to try a new Mexican food joint, as I am pretty loyal to my local spot, but boy was I glad I gave this place a try. The food was extremely fresh and so well prepared, my fajitas were in the top 3 of all time. Can't wait to try some of their other amazing looking dishes! Would've been a 5 star if it weren't for two things; 1) we sat for 10 minutes waiting for our server and asked to be reseated in a different section, new server was awesome. 2) Chips and salsa are great, but you have to have queso in your standard setup, it's damn near a deal breaker for me. You know everyone wants it, just factor it in to cost like everyone else does.

I’m a tough critic when judging Tex-Mex... I can say that this place is decent. It didn’t blow me away... but it was good. Seems like this place has more of a New Mexican flare to its food which is cool. Portion sizes were good and the restaurant itself is really nice. We sat on the patio and loved the view of the water. I’d say overall it’s definitely worth a try!

It was ah-may-zing! The food was delicious...fresh, flavorful, and fast. We enjoyed the cocktails. The colossal shrimp, smoked ribs, marinated chicken, skirt steak and tortillas were filling. The cowboy queso was tasty as well. We will return again...and again...and again! Our waitress, Evelyn, was great and made superb recommendations for cocktails. The grand swirl and another margarita with Herradura Reposado were the best.

I love tacos, Tex-Mex food, margaritas, etc but this place is overrated. The drinks taste like lime only. The food isn't so great either. The salsa is watery af and the rice is like bird food. I am not a fan. I am disappointed. I've worked at a Tex-Mex restaurant and this is not how it is supposed to be. Service was ok. I would not return.

Just not good food. The bad part the floor manager never stopped by the table though he walked by 9 or 10 times and the kitchen manager dropped Togo containers at the table and walked away immediately without asking how everything was tonight. The servers were nice and so where the host staff. Just was expecting a whole lot better meal then received. The chips were great but everything else was just blah. For the money they should be reaching for legendary food and they missed that by a mile tonight. If managers would have acted liked they cared it may have been better but it wouldn’t have changed the food just the experience. I don’t believe in chasing down management when they are walking by the table and standing at the bar. Very disappointed.

This is an incredible place! The chips are the fresh and thin ones that melt in your mouth! The service was quite friendly from the host to the waitress! I had the chicken fajitas and the tortillas were freshly made from scratch and served up warm with the fixings! We sat on the patio next to the pond and it was like we were on a vacation to Mexico! Great value as well! The chips just came on coming and we left stuffed and happy!

I love Uncle Julio's in general, this was my first time here and I was a bit disappointed. The music was really loud, the restaurant was pretty hot, and you had to pay for parking. I feel like you pay enough for dinner that they should validate parking. Food is good, I love the combination fajitas with the bacon wrapped shrimp, chicken, and steak. I love their swirls (frozen margarita and frozen sangria mixed). I think they do a lot of things well but this is my least favorite of their locations (try Rio in Gaithersburg and sit by the lake or even Fairfax)!

My favorite Tex-Mex restaurant. Wonderful chips and salsa, and the table-side guacamole is the best. Family favorites are the chicken fajitas, cheese enchiladas, and beef nachos. The flour tortillas made in-store are excellent. Long ago, we used to eat at the original Uncle Julio’s near the Fort Worth stockyards. It was our favorite then too. It’s great to have a branch here in northern Virginia. Reasonably priced.

We have been to this restaurant three times. The first time our party of 6 ate at a table at the bar - everything was fantastic: great food, fresh ingredients, good service, great beer. The second time our party of 7 had teens so we did not sit at the bar, we sat inside. It was insanely noisy. Not a good experience (the chaos really took the fun out of the evening - we all simply wanted to eat and get out of there so we could stop trying to hear each other speak). This third visit we had reservations for a party of 7 for 6pm. We had no children and were seated inside (not bar or patio). However, we were seated between a birthday party for a 6-year old with uncountable children (they were uncountable because they never sat down, they ran in circles around the table screaming and apparently the staff was not bothered and the parents thought it was cute). On the other side of us was a table of at least 5 or 6 adults and 5 or 6 small children. They likewise stood, screamed at each other, and hit each other the entire time we were there, until they left. One child was screaming and hitting another for so long I actually turned around - twice - and told her to stop. She didn't. There is no excuse for this. Inconsiderate parents happen, but the staff should never had let this chaos ruin our dinner. We paid for a nice meal and should have had the opportunity to enjoy one. It would have been appropriate to offer to move us to a different table. Our ages ranged from 85 to 20, so clearly we were patrons who anticipated a fun evening in which we could talk, laugh, and enjoy good food and drinks. Based on these two experiences, we will not return, which is unfortunate as the food is good. The atmosphere is beyond chaotic.

Not worth the effort and doesn't live up to the hype. Made a reservation for 10 at 11:30, weekday. All the party arrived on time and still have to wait 10 minutes for them to set up a table. Waited 15 minutes until finally asking the manager if they could send over the waiter. Place was mostly empty and several wait staff standing around waiting for the place to pick up. At least 3 different waiters, walked by our table, looked at us and walked off. I don't know if they didn't have the table assignments correct or what, but finally the manager came back to take our drink orders. We said we were ready to order lunch. She said, Oh wait, let me get some paper. We just looked around wondering what was going on. All orders were off the lunch menu, nothing special. Food finally comes after another 30 minutes, but half the table's orders were wrong. No apology, they just took it back. 15 min later brought out more food, 3 orders were still wrong. The manager came back over to just retake our order. Finally got the last 3 orders (still wrong), but we had been there over an hour and starving. The rest of the table was already finished eating. Another manager came over and said they would comp our meal. But no explanation as to what was going on. Unfortunately (for them) for 9 of the 10 people, this was their first time here and will not be returning. I feel like we did everything we could to help them accommodate a large group during lunch. We were there for about 2 hours. Complete disorganization with the wait staff. Neighboring tables were having the same issues. Too bad

The method to pay the check was out of this world - little electronic gadget that displayed the bill with tip already calculated with electronic adjustments on the screen if you wanted to increase or decrease the tip. The credit card is then inserted into this iPad looking gadget to pay the bill - very seamless.

I usually visit the one in Dallas but since my mother moved back to Florida 4 years ago we haven't had any Uncle Julio's. While in Virginia we came across this one and I was able to take my in-laws to share my love of Uncle Julio's. The server MiKayla was wonderful and the chef accommodated my request for a special dish I had at the Lemon Ave location. We had a wonderful meal, delicious margaritas and an amazing experience!!

I'm torn between giving this location three or four stars. A lot of friends and I like the salsa; it has a smokey flavor to it....some people don't like that. The guac is good too with the chips. I've had the chicken fajita and combo chicken/steak fajita numerous times. It's usually good. This place gets really busy and we've waited an average of forty minutes to be seated numerous times. One of the downsides is the parking.

This place has the best margaritas, chips, salsa, guac, and queso dip I've ever had, but the food selections aren't the best and are pricey. Service was outstanding and there was no wait to get in. I had the beef flautas entree with their beans and it was bland and underwhelming for the price. The table I was sat under was being dripped upon by the air conditioner vent and I was startled when a drip went right down my cleavage. My husband is a vegitarian and this restaurant didn't offer any bean burritos, so he ended up with veggie tacos that were stuffed with guac, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Not worth the $16 or so we paid for it. I'll be back, but only for drinks, chips, and dips.

A great atmosphere and delicious food! We went last night for my wife's birthday and had a group of 11 adults and 4 kids ranging from 6 months to 5. Our waiter, Caleb, was very attentive and patient with our hectic table and kept us all stocked with water and chips and salsa. We shared the Guadalajara fajitas and they were delicious! Of course we did the Chocolate Lover's Pinata which made for a good laugh and tasty treats. Overall, it's a bit pricier than other Mexican restaurants but definitely worth the visit for a special occasion!

Uncle Julio’s made from scratch Mexican food is on the expensive side but they totally back it up with great tasting food. The guacamole is literally made from scratch right in front of you using fresh ingredients. We eat on a day that was in the 80’s and I wish we would have sat in the outside area because it was super cold and loud inside. Overall, the staff was great and the food is delicious. We will visit again since it is right next to Topgolf and iFly!

Food is always very good. We love the table side guacamole and the yellow queso. Beef fajitas are always the order. This time we decided to finally try the chocolate pinata and it was super tasty and very fun. We have just had consistent, slow service the last 3 times.. Our server this time, we had to ask for refills, we had to flag her down for chips or tortilla refills. She was constantly, not available, to us at least.. She seemed very absorbed by our neighbor table.. That made the meal longer and a bit annoying. We go out and pay for good food and good service. Apart from her, food was great. We will still go back but hope the service is a bit better.

Great food and wonderfully fast service! I had a late lunch at the bar on Tuesday and there weren’t a lot of people in the restaurant at the time. So, the food came out super quick after placing my order. The free chips are the kind I like, nice and thin. I ordered cheese and onion enchiladas and the bartender picked up that I am vegetarian. She asked if I wanted to substitute the retried beans and Mexican rice, which a lot of people don’t realize what’s in the food they eat. Will definitely go there again.

My family and I had a wonderful dinner at Uncle Julio’s last night. We were seated immediately at 5pm. The service was prompt and wonderful. Our waitress kept our drinks full and surpassed every level of service. The table side guacamole was worth every penny! The tortillas were so good! The kids menu has options for every kid and the kids side is healthy; fresh fruit! The prices are higher then most Mexican restaurants but to me it was worth it! The drinks, food, service is great! I look forward to eating here again!

The cocktails were great and came out in a timely manner. I originally went just for a cocktail, guac and queso. I ordered them as soon as i sat down. After about 20 minutes I also ordered an entree because I was starving. 10ish more minutes pass and still no guac and queso. After I finished my entree I told our server to forget about it and go ahead and bring my check. I'm very disappointed I never got to try them. The salsa was not good. I was hoping for fresh, light, citrus-y salsa but it was bland and savory but not in a good way. The chicken enchiladas were ok. I sat on the patio and thought I would like the atmosphere but the turnpike was so loud. I might go back again and see if I am lucky enough to get some chips and guac but the salsa is so bad it's probably not even worth it.

Veggie fajitas with a side of SPAM They keep sending me emails asking for a review, so here it is - If you pay by credit card and get an email receipt, they will start sending you spam emails asking for a review. I didn't sign up for that and think that is a pretty shady practice. As it happens, I do review places but I don't appreciate being beat over the head for a review. I can only guess at whether they are also selling those email addresses for a bit of caah. Hopefully they will fix this issue quickly. Oh yeah, the food was fine (I would have written a positive review otherwise) and service was ok.

Went on a Saturday evening, the wait for 2 people was an hour...waited longer than that. A group came in after we did of 6, the wait for a group of 6 was 2 hours!! They were seated before us because one of their party members kept harassing the staff, walking in and out of the dining area looking for empty tables and was waving money around so that someone would seat them! The swirl was weird but not terrible, the watermelon margarita was weak. The mango lemonade my husband ordered was delicious! It's $1 for a refill of lemonade. The food was hot, I enjoyed Pretty much everything except the chicken enchilada. The beef enchilada was so good! So was the taco, I wish they had cabbage instead of lettuce. My beans had good flavor but they were dry, and the rice was nice. Felt over cooked but tasted nice. For the most part I would eat the again, my rating is mainly for the first part, I wrote that while in the restaurant before we were even seated!

If you like flavor or spice, DO NOT COME HERE. If you are vegetarian or vegan, DON’T COME HERE. The guacamole was lacking in flavor, it was just avocado with a bit of salt and lemon, it was undeserving of the name guacamole. The vegetable tacos were mushy and bland. The cheese enchiladas were coated in slimy cheese (I’m a cheese lover but this was awful) and had nothing else on or inside them(literally a tortilla with a thick layer of cheese). The fajitas were flavorless. The only way to eat the food was with a ton of hot sauce. NOT WORTH THE MONEY! If you have picky children who don’t like real food, this place is for you. On a side note, our server, Brian, was lovely.

Food was very good, everything else was terrible. Reservations at 8:45pm; didn't get seated until after 9:30pm. Food orders taken around 10:15pm and delivered around 11pm. Multiple drink and food orders were messed up and tickets were wrong twice before we had to stand next to the waitress at the cash register. Managers were not helpful in fixing the situation, only comping parts of our order and then disappearing with the waitress for 30 more minutes. After >3 hours we finally left after midnight. Our friend was celebrating her birthday and we planned on going out after dinner, but by the time we left here it was too late for those of us with small children. My biggest complaint is that they didn't seem capable of delivering acceptable service even after it was obvious that the night was a disaster. With even marginal service I would highly recommend this place, but we felt like prisoners and I can't recommend it because of that.

Best Carnitas I have had in a long time! They were different, candied slightly with a spicy sauce that made for a unique take on the classic dish I use as a litmus test for most Mexican restaurants. I have the feeling that Uncle Julio's would easily rate 5-stars if not for the slow and gapped service. I was never asked for a drink choice, and instead provided water. My friends emphasized our visit is the only time they have had slow service and given the atmosphere, attention to culinary detail including presentation, I find the claim easy to believe. I must go back to try another dish and hope I can rate this great restaurant a 5!

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. My wife and I went for dinner 2 nights in a row and I just don't understand how some people can be trusted to talk to customers... First night, the girl serving us was all talk and BS. She messed up the whole order and drinks came way after the food. We ate and when I asked for the check, she came with lil electronic device and said that the tip defaults at 20% and asked if I wanted to change it, I said no and then strangely, she is the one processing the operation and just handed it to me so I can sign (strange). I then printed the receipt and the manager brought it to me. Fair enough, at the first glance, I could see that I paid for more than 20%. I pulled the calculator and then called her right away for explanations why the 20% announced turned out being 25%. She couldn't explain and went to get the manager at my request. The lady manager did not get the trick and offered to refund the difference, I did not take it... Tonight, I had the bright idea to take my wife out in the same place again (so as to repair the experience from previous night, but god I wish we had gone to McDonald... the server was messy, disrespectful, out of character. We realized at the end of a messed up dinner that the girl from the previous night has been involved in the service tonight and when I asked for the check, the dude went to ask her to come drop it to our table... The tip was adjusted appropriately and I committed to never, ever step into this place again. It's very unfair to the business (food is quite good) but there is no way I can entertain such a lack of interest and care. I will take it to the next level and call the store tomorrow and make sure the management team know exactly who this is about...

Uncle Julio's I'm sad that I didn't know about you before. The food was really good. The tortilla chips were light and crispy; the salsa was delicious. I will be back.

Service was great. Our waiter was very attentive, and tortillas were fresh! Make sure to ask for your skirt steak the way you like to eat it, it is served to you medium rare; which was a little disappointing.

We waited over 30 min for our drinks. Then the waitress proceeded to explain there is only 1 bartender and its hard for them to keep up. Food was out timely which ment the kitchen is timely, but we would have stayed and had another drink if we didn't have to wait another 30 min. to get it.

Visited on a Sunday, for dinner after a movie. Location was easy to get to, with a decent amount of free weekend street parking. Service was good, and the food was typically enjoyable as we have come to expect from Uncle Julio's. This was our first time at this location, but I see no reason we wouldn't go back. Would definitely recommend the Balston, Arlington, VA location to anyone.

Food and drinks were GREAT and the portion size was good. Definitely had enough for leftovers which is always good in my book. Only thing we weren't satisfied with was the wait time to receive appetizers, over 20 minutes. Had to get a second batch of chips and salsa during the wait. My husband said the kitchen could've had a lot of to-go orders.

Good margaritas and excellent chips and salsa. Nice renovated patio seating with heaters. The fajitas could be better cooked (and served hotter). Aside from that, it's one of the best Tex-Mex joints in the area.

Fantastic catering! These guys helped me out sorta last minute when we had an issue with another caterer. They were ready on time, and at a really reasonable price for something that isn't a sandwich. The staff was all really positive and helpful! Kudos to these guys!

The El Jefe margarita is one of the best margaritas I've ever had. I have been here several times and always received good service even when busy. Their food is delicious. It is a bit pricey, but it tastes much better than many other Mexican restaurants. They have unique fajita options that are all very, very good.
