With a name like “Friends”, a section for playing pool and shuffle board, a dance floor, and a good band, I was really hoping to love this place. I tried, but there’s just no denying how terrible our experience there was.
We were looking for a fun place for our group of 10 to hang out and chat last night (Saturday), so we called the bar around 10pm to see if they had room for a group our size. The girl on the phone was rude and acted offended that we asked “if they were busy”. She said they were, but yes they had a couple tables available for parties our size. We thanked her and said we were headed her way and would arrive in just a few minutes. She responded by hanging up on us mid-sentence...
When we arrived, we found out there was a cover charge. Cash only. No ATM in sight. Thankfully (or not, in retrospect), I had enough cash for everyone to get in. We searched for the big table we were told about, but the only table available seated 6 and was positioned right by the bar. So we just dropped our stuff there and all stood around the table so we could mingle as a group. Standing; however, is apparently frowned upon, because we were yelled at by a waitress to “Move! This is a walkway!” at least 5 times.
Ordering drinks at the bar was a joke. They still use paper tickets, so don’t try to just have them run your card without opening a tab because they won’t do it until they feel they have the time. They’ll just hold onto the card until they’re ready... what? I was literally shoved out of the way numerous times by servers trying to get their drink trays refilled. (Thankfully, the girl I was knocked into was nice.) The drinks were mediocre at best and the bartenders were curt and downright rude at times. However, if you’re a white male, you probably won’t have any problems. They seemed to treat those customers very differently. #makeamericagreatagain
I get that people start to feel the pressure when they are busy, but there’s just no excuse for having such poor attitudes toward customers who paid to be there, are paying for drinks, and tipping generously. It’s completely unacceptable.
In short, “Friends” was pretty unfriendly. We won’t be back.
