Definitely recommend checking out Thurman's if you have time to wait. There's typically a 45 minute wait whenever we go, it's a very small place which also adds to its atmosphere. The pretzel bite appetizers are wonderfully deep fried and delicious. This time around we ordered the fish dinner and the buffalo chicken sandwich (with two chicken patties!!). You just can't go to German Village without stopping by this place.

Almost 20 years since we started going to Thurman's, if we didn't have an hour drive would be a regular! Bar staff and servers always very hospitable along with killer burgers make Thurman's a casual fun night out. Don't pass the wings up on your way to the burger, the Blazin burger is my favorite hands down. Weeknights seem the best time to get in without a long wait, it's limited space especially if you have a bigger group.

This is another gem of Columbus. Places like this are what I love most about the local scene here. It has so much character and it's old school, meaning it hasn't renovated for quite some time. And this matches the vibe and environment perfectly. This is a spot I usually take friends and family visiting from out of town to eat. The burgers are phenomenal and are big in terms of size and taste.

Now before you say I am trashing this place which I am not. I am a picky eater. I do eat out a bit and I have reviewed hundreds of these types of places. The Thurman Cafe, what can I say. Boldly true to what it, a hole in the wall, good drinks, good food, good service. I did order the Thurminator burger which is massive. I really didn't like all the seasoning on it. I mentioned that to that to them, my claim was quickly dismissed. I don't blame them one bit either. For that. Thurman's gets 4/5. I think the food is somewhat over seasoned particularly the hamburgers, but who am I?

Cool place to go for a burger and a beer. The interior is packed full of weird and old decor. The burgers are gigantic and eating one is definitely a logistical challenge, but they're very good. I had the blue cheese burger on my last visit and it was great.

We went at 2 on a Saturday in July. Waited 45 minutes for a seat and then another 35 minutes for our food. I can't imagine what the wait times would be during lunch or dinner time. I had the western burger. It was really good. Staff was great at getting orders and keeping drinks replenished. It's a bar atmosphere...not a cafe. We took our 8 and 11 year old and they liked the food but beware there are dollar bills all over the walls...some with profanity. Their ac was not working well either because it seemed to get warmer the longer we were there. Things were a bit dirty and dusty too.

It's better than Thurman to go. Consider them separate restaurants cause it's different recipes. If you want to go come sit at the bar and tell them you want it from this kitchen.However! The shroom burger was amazing! Well worth the money. The horseradish cheese gave it a nice mild kick. The french fries were great too and reminded me of fair fries.

I got the Bacon Burger and it was cooked to perfection; the fries and fried pickle chips were outstanding; the beer was icy cold and the servers were warm and inviting. If someone says they had bad food or a subpar experience here, then they came in LOOKING for something to complain about.

Wife and I went here for a Friday night meal out. Lobby was busy but not crowded. Music was loud but not so much he couldn't talk. The food was delicious. I ordered the Fat Tire cheese sauce to dip fries in and a A1 Burger. Both were excellent, I brought half thr burger home, it was huge. (and it wasn't even their signature Thurminator)

This place has been in business, operated by the same family, since 1942! The walls are totally papered with dollar bills signed and taped up by patrons. What good is a restaurant if their only claim to fame is money on the walls, right? The service is attentive but not bothersome. The food, American casual fare all dressed up for huge appetites seeking the familiar with a twist.

I might be a bit biased with this place, but there is a lot of fun to be had here. Interior: A bit dirty, but its a bar with TONS of character. Literally decades of visitors and customized decorum has made this place easily recognizable. Every time I come, I play 80s and 70s metal and rock on the jukebox and the staff cheers for it each time. Service: A bit slow, but that's because they are always swamped. Expect a wait if you intend to go. Food: Get ready to eat! Pizza thins, chili, sandwiches and burgers that will fill you up without emptying your wallet. Biggest and tastiest burgers, chicken sandwiches and wings I've ever had. No dessert though, so expect to go for ice cream later. Conclusion: Definitely a hometown favorite that I wouldn't trade for the world. I do miss the deep friend brownie balls though. 4.5 out of 5 stars

I totally get why this place has a following and why individuals suggest this as a must. I'm saying this as someone who doesn't even love burgers! The menu is deep! Many choices and you can of course personalize your burgers as well. They are gigantic, but I was thrilled they have a kids burger as I was worried on what we'd get our child.

The pizza is really good the crust is thin and it's not soggy. I love the Burgers and Fries. Every time we go our server has always been attentive and kind. Thurman's has the best, biggest, burgers in Columbus and for the best price. Their patties are 3/4 lb, which is massive. They are handmade patties and incredibly delicious. Love the atmosphere, the wait staff and the food. Couldn't recommend this place more. Seating is first come first serve, so expect a wait any evening.

Great place located in a nice neighborhood, the food was amazing the drinks where perfect and the ambiance was excellent. They could keep up with the bathrooms a bit. When it comes to service the e.ployees where very attentive but the owner ( lady ) was not as friendly probably because I am not a regular but over all it was a good experience

Wasnt worth the hype. Not kid friendly, (stroller)deep fried mushrooms were still cold inside when they came out. Wifes hamburger was raw inside. Waited 45 mins to even get in the door. And after them taking off her sandwich it still cost us almost $40 bucks. Smh

This restaurant is a Columbus institution. Street parking only and there is often a wait. You go to Thurman's for a hamburger. There are other items on the menu. I have no idea what they are like. I have always ordered a hamburger. Base hamburger is 3/4 lb. Many options and the burgers are great.

One of the best if not the best burger I've ever eaten, and I eat a lot of burgers. This is a must eat location in columbus. The only downside is due to its small size and huge popularity wait times can be quite long. During normal dining hours it can easily get over an hour. If you're not up for the wait trying come during off hours. Like during the week around 2 or 3.

4 out of 5 for the wait of a life time. The food here is excellent and nothing has ever disappointed us. The only down side is the place is so popular and so good that the small dining room often leaves visitors feeling stranded in food purgatory while waiting. The Thurman burger and chili dogs are our favorites, but so are the hand cut fries and subs and everything else we have tried. So needless to say this place is a favorite all around. A late lunch is probably the best time to visit while keeping your wait down.

Thurmans on Thurmans is a cute little spot. If you get a hamburger be prepared for a big a$$ burger. The meat was a bit salty but the flavor was amazing. They have amazing sweet potato fries, and i believe i also got an app of pickels, so freaking good. I went with 3 other friends and there were zero complaints, (Just how full we were.) Great waitstaff and i really enjoyed my experience.

Yesterday was the first time I have been and the customer service was awful. They sat us down the waitress got our drinks then never came back to get our orders. The bartender came over and got our orders. We got our food and not once did anyone come and ask if we needed refills or anything else. Then we had to get someone’s attention to get our bill. Should not have paid $40 for that meal. Couldn’t even get anyone’s attention to get a manager. Pretty upsetting

The Thurman Cafe. Is the best cafe in Columbus, Ohio. Chicken wings, hamburgers, fries, pizza, I could go on and on...its the best south, north , east, west. Thurman's has the theory of it not broke do not fix it I ha e been going to Thurmans for 20 yrs plus same good old fashion good food and customer service. Do not think you will be able to go to Thurman's without a wait...however it worth the wait... Parking sucks, so what its Thurman's. This was a really fun place. Great atmosphere. Awesome bartender/server named Victor. Has an amazing memory..can recall almost everyone's face with drink order. He was very fun. Burgers were amazing. Highly recommend Thurman Cafe as part of your Columbus experience.

Absolutely loved the staff and ambiance. Our waiter was very welcoming. The burgers here are MASSIVE. I got a bacon cheeseburger topped with a fried egg, runny as it should be. Honestly, didn't think I would make it but I downed it, against my stomach's better judgement. Definitely will coming back next year, after I recover.

Very small restaurant. If you don't mind a wait of an hour or more. The service was great, food was even better. Enjoyed my experience while there. I would do it again, but have an idea of what else was in the area to make the wait time go faster. Saw the Thurmanator, it was huge! If you finish your whole meal in the time allotted I guess you get a t-shirt or something. Man vs food did a story here. It's something everyone should experience at least once.

The Thurman Cafe serves the freshest, juiciest, biggest, most delicious hamburger that I’ve ever tasted. I can not overstate how good they are. The fries and onion rings are very good as well. The only real downsides are that they are always busy, which almost always results in a 15-60 minute wait for a table (chairs and booths are uncomfortable). The bartenders and servers are all friendly; however, it’s hard to get their attention to ask for a drink refill, napkins, or anything else due to how busy they are. Prices are fair. All in all, the out-of-this-world burgers outweigh the minor inconveniences.

Great local tavern. Very friendly service, and you better bring your appetite, the burgers live up to the hype - they are HUGE, 12oz monsters. We had a bit of a wait for a table (about 30 minutes for a table of two), but it was worth it. They had our drinks and food orders back to us very quickly. Very fairly priced menu as well. Definitely recommend this one.

Small place, if you go rush hour you need to wait for table. Some people said love there burgers but I love there wings. Wings are huge. And try tangerine rice beer. Its really good. Also they don't have parking spaces. You need to do street parking.

This place is great. A little whole in the wall restaurant known for their huge burger, the Thurmanator. The burger is delicious by itself and they have plenty of burger options. Only downside is you need to be there fairly early if you want to get a seat because this is a popular place and is not a large restaurant so it fills up quick.

If you're looking for an amazing burger, Thurman's is one of those places. Everything is cooked well and tasty. Definitely a must stop if you happen to be visiting Columbus. Beer list is terrible and needs work; the standard mass produced beers is what you'll find. Staff is friendly and are attentive even with as busy as they can be.

Well this place is the best bar I've been to in Ohio, it's everything you'd want in a college area bar! The burgers are HUGE, serving sizes are fantastic. Great fries, loved the atmosphere, servers were all friendly and I really enjoyed how they all worked together. Fantastic experience!

I have only been here once and ordered take out. The staff was very friendly and helpful when I couldn't choose what I wanted. I love the ambiance of this place, it is relaxed and fun! The food was incredible and I will be back and hope to bring friends with me. Well done Thurman Cafe!!

It was so big. I loved the Burguer and they are truly oversized. Prices were between 12~21. Parking can be complicated, we eventually parked in the street nearby. There is also a waiting time, so try to be there early. Food was delicious. Chips were good. Service was excellent. I'd visit again.

70 minute wait on a Saturday at 1pm to be seated and then another hour for the food to come. That being said, I'D COME BACK IN A HEARTBEAT! Truly extraordinary burgers, wings and craft beers. Pictured is my attempt at the Thurmanator. It's their flagship burger and it can feed three people. Proud to have eaten 85% of it.

The food wasn’t anything special. It was decent. They had excellent oysters. Their events that they hold occasionally needs organization or a better system of some sort. A lot of people, including my colleagues and I, were not sat at the table for the event due to a mix up with the reservations. We ended up not participating and honestly it was quite disappointing. The waitresses however were extremely kind enough to check up on us frequently.

This little place is a gem. Great food and lots of it. Some of the best friend i have ever eaten. This will be a go to place anytime we are in Columbus. I highly recommended and it's well worth the wait.

Thurman Cafe easily has 5 star service; even though the restaurant was packed, out waitress checked on our table multiple times and we were even checked up on by who I can assume were the owners. This was the third time I have been to this local favorite. The food was astonishing and very tasty. As usual, got through about half my food and took the rest home for lunch earlier today. We ordered some pretzel bites, fried pickle chips and mozzarella sticks as well since it was a couples night. The service was pretty good, El Padrino made sure we had drinks while we were there. Drink prices were pretty reasonable as well. I would recommend this place for food and a cool atmosphere. It's a little small, theres dollar bills literally everywhere you look, the ceiling is done in old Budweiser case labels. It just doesnt get any better than this when your lookin for that cool like spot to go grab a great bite to eat, listen to some tunes and hang out with your significant other.

Great burgers here, I would definitely go back for another burger too. Each one of their burgers is 3/4 of a pound so they're pretty hefty. They have lots of different options for burgers to so if you don't want just a classic cheese burger they have lots of different varieties. However I don't remember if they have a vegetarian burger. They have other food options as well, some salads, and mainly different kinds of sandwiches. The service was quick and attentive. They don't have much in the way of seating and it filled up really quick right after we got seated and we were the first ones there right at opening. So if you want to go there then make sure you have lots of time to wait for seating.

A Delicious must have experience. I've been going to thurmans for years and it's always been an awesome experience. From the atmosphere and great selection of beers on tap to the iconic burgers. You will not leave here hungry or unsatisfied. The burgers are big and juicy. Mouth dropping freshness on the ingredients even in the winter time. The burger are not greasy and don't leave your arteries too clogged. The only downside is the wait. As this is a popular spot in town you are generally going to have a 30 minute to an hour wait on the weekends with a first come first serve policy. But no worry. Order some drinks and kick it in the lobby with your crew and enjoy.

Cmon man. This place has no business putting this great food in a small neighborhood bar. Just kidding don’t change a thing. People this is a must if you are into great Burgers. Stopped in coming home from The Football Hall of Fame. My son , our Friend Sam and myself. From the land of Volunteers. Tn. I’ve ate gourmet burgers. Dives. Generic restaurant burgers etc in probably 15 states. Sam and I consider ourselves foodies. Well this place is as good as any I’ve been in big flavor big burgers. Price is fair. Well worth it. I pulled over on the highway and googled a place for good burgers in Columbus. This was one of the options. Glad I did. I had the bratburger Sam had the burger with the egg and bacon. My son had fries and onion rings. All agree 5 Thanks.
