A pleasant place for dinner in Van Aken Market. Wood fire oven. Great staff.

My beer was $7 and came in a water glass. Bartender told me they reserve the pint glasses for bloody marry’s. Not according to the picture on your website. Thanks for nothing.

We have been a number of times, and each visit was excellent. The service has been exemplary! We've had Coco as our server a few times and her passion and guidance through the menu left us wanting to come back for more! The GM Katie is kind, welcoming, and extremely personable! The whole fish, steak, spring pea toast, charred broccoli, and pasta were highlights for me. While some may be put off from the closeness of the tables, I find that to be part of the experience. Look over and see what your neighbor is eating, get ideas and suggestions. It's a neighborhood joint, and feels like it! We will be frequenting Michael's quite a bit!

Menu looks great, so disappointing they didn’t honor our birthday dinner reservation

They move here — fast attentive service, no wait for drinks or great food, but we were not pushed out the door when done. It was a hopping place with plenty of professional staff that gave a good overview of the menu and made sure our water glasses were always full. Many dishes are meant to be shared and arrive as they are prepared. The West coast oysters from Washington were the freshest we have tasted in Cleveland. Loved the coin towels. The grilled octopus was tender, and the lamb meatballs with pine nuts and fresh mint and dill were crusty on the outside and tender inside. The Napoletana pizza crust was perfectly cooked but lacked flavor; it was still good and enough for 2 people. The Affogato dessert was a winner. We will be back to try the burger, crispy pork belly, and deviled eggs that all looked delicious ... Make your reservations in advance.

Such delicious food and outstanding service. From walking in the door to leaving, all the staff was attentive and genuine. They helped me figure out the menu and shared their own personal favorites. Loved watching the chef coof at the oven. Overall great experience, will be back.

Super friendly service and delicious food in the cool new Van Aken commercial space. Manager Keith Jackson made our visit particularly fun. Pizza options are fantastic with great dough. Try the shrimp toast appetizer.

M.G.F.&D. Is a wonderful addition to Clevelands culinary experience!! Their pasta is made in-house and delicious! I enjoyed their Burnt Wheat Rigatoni! The Shrimp Toast Banh MI was amazing, and I hear that they also make their own bread. The Wood Roasted Double Yolk had my friend wanting to lick the bowl! The staff was so very attentive and helpful with their knowledge about the menus choices. I am so looking forward to going back again and taking friends!!

Our server, Michael was very nice. The food was decent, but too expensive. A plain old quarter pound hamburger and fries for $17.00 and a plain old margarita pizza for $15.00 is not what we were hoping for. The crust was 2” long, so the pizza was 1/3 crust. And, never mind wanting to charge $80.00 for prime rib. Really? We were looking forward to a pizza restaurant with many interesting takes on pizza toppings. This is just another overpriced chi chi place that will not serve the families of the community well. The old fashioned was very good, and the $10 price tag is acceptable. We won’t go back for the food. Also, we were rushed out by 7:00. The whole restaurant was reserved for the developers and their friends. On opening night? The four of us went to Mitchell’s for a banana split for $6.25, and that was the best part of the evening.

Michael's recently started serving lunch, and we were one of the first to try out the new lunch experience a couple months ago. Food was quite delicious -- both the turkey and pastrami sandwiches were great, and the burger (I'm told) was awesome. Fries were inconsistent -- mostly overcooked. Our food took a verrrrry long time to be served, but the staff was on top of it. They checked on us often for drinks and provided status updates, when available. To make up for the long wait we were provided complimentary desserts which were fantastic. The menu, while overall very good, was way overpriced for lunch (hence the 3 stars). Maybe in Miami, but no way should a sandwich of such small size be $16-18...in the suburbs of Cleveland.

This place is great. Came here on the recommendation of a friend and cause we knew the chef was a rock star from previous restaurant. Nice ambiance, food was very impressive. We had multiple appetizers and entree's. The Hominy appetizer is the best use of Hominy I've ever come across. The bacon pizza was great, but the casarecce was out of this world. Also the cocktails were great, make sure if Derek is working the bar you ask for his drink suggestions.

Food was great, cocktails were good but not great, service was pretentiously absent. The octopus was fantastic, incredibly small. I would visit again if in the area but not make a special trip to visit again.

Douglas Collier

I really enjoyed my first visit. I had a wonderful pizza and a mixed green salad. The server Adam was extremely attentive and kind. I will be back.

I just visited this establishment for the first time today with my mom at the Van Aken flea & it was a nice place to eat. I dined outside so I never went inside, but the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and timely. My waiter wasn't overbearing nor did he disappear, he knew the menu when asked, was never rude, cleared the table when it was needed w/o having to ask & was just a nice guy! Thanks Jeb! The menu had enough options be varied without being too condensed or overwhelming. If you are looking for a full dinner menu then go elsewhere because they offer snacks/appetizers, salads, 2 burgers, housemade pizzas & sodas...things like this. It's kind of like a fancier pub menu! I would like to see more cocktails on the menu because I don't drink beer at all or wine that often. I will be back to try other items on the menu for sure. Oh yeah....they change the menu from time to time I'm told as well.

My friend and I went there for an early bite to eat. Though I was most nervous about the potential for bad service given previous reviews, what was really disappointing was the food itself. The price to portion ratio is astronomical and ridiculous. Charging 18 dollars for a sub par burger without a single unique condiment is absurd; especially considering that B spot is down the street. The side salad that was accompanying the burger was no more than lettuce and a few radishes. The both were no bigger than the size of my friends palm. I had the ceviche and I was unimpressed. The portion size is also very small and I truly believe another fish would perform better in this dish. The service was great though. Our server was considerate and consistent in spite of slow kitchen times. We are hesitant to return.
