This Restaurant belongs to the category of French restaurant.
I took my parents here and had high hopes. I had the short rib omelette and red pepper soup. Both were terribly bland and parts of my egg were undercooked. I got coffee, which was never refilled and I had to wipe lipstick from the edge of the cup from the previous person. My mom got two pieces of quiche (others around us had 3 pieces on their plate) and she had to use a knife because the outside was so dry and hard. Both my parents got the chicken soup, which they liked. We waited forever for our check as we watched our waiter hug and chat with other patrons. After asking him twice for the bill, we just handed him a credit card to swipe. We liked the atmosphere with the diner like setting and the hostess was very nice. With so many other restaurants in that area, we likely will never return. I'm so bummed as I've waited years to try a Jean Robert restaurant.
Different from our usual food and atmosphere are great
Great food. Great atmosphere.
Very nice bistro Findlay Market experience. Great place for date night out. Make sure to get your reservation in early.
Delicious quiche! Nice restaurant with a great atmosphere. They have a breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu. Fantastic and very professional servers.
A comfortable slice of France available for all to taste in Over The Rhine.
The food was of excellent quality. The best burger I have ever had. Peppers were also very tasty. Great service as well!!
I came to French Crust at 10 a.m. on a Thursday morning. The posted hours on the window started they were open at 8 a.m. but the doors were locked. Very disappointing.
Good showcase of some local food in a nice French bistro setting. Good food and portions for the price. French press coffee was a bit cool when it arrived and as such didn't brew properly. Overall would recommend and would return.
The French Crust is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. As a resident of OTR I walk to the cafe in the morning for a fresh croissant. I’ve read a couple reviews speaking about the wait time for food. I will say this is not a “fast food” restaurant. You have thoughtful chefs putting their hearts into your dish. If you’re looking for something fast visit the cafe in the back. If not, don’t come if you’re in too much of a hurry to wait a few extra minutes. You’re not visiting an Applebee’s, this is our own little piece of Paris in Cincy. I personally find everything about it to perfection.
First of all, I love french cuisine. And Jean-Robert for me is like an escape island to the European classics. I remember when the French Crust was a tiny place with lace curtains on the window and a couple of tables inside with the best sign ever that said: " No WI-FI, talk to each other". So when we went with my daughter here on a Sunday, I had kind of disappointing experience. First of all , it was super loud. And I know, it is common for breakfast places, but it was so loud my daughter and I could barely hear each other. Second, we got that 'oh, there are kids at the table' service. Basically, you have a child, you'll leave a mess, why bother to serve you? Asking for silverware. Asking for a cup of tea with milk. then I need to ask for spoon and sugar. How am I supposed to mix the milk without spoon ?And it is pretty standard to offer sugar with an order of hot tea. The food was great. I cannot complain about it . The flavour, texture, everything was amazing and well balanced. But after waiting for 15 minutes to pay, I am not sure if I want to be back. At least not to this one.
Great food, great atmosphere, a fantastic experience - hope to go back soon
Delicious breakfast, goetta, puff pastry, French press coffee. Heavenly!
Good food and service
We went to French Crust for brunch. We had the salmon salad croissant, an almond croissant and an omelette with side salad. Service and food were alright. The side salad was quite bland, the omelette was enjoyable, the almond croissant was nothing special and the salmon salad croissant was okay. Problem was that we waited for 40 minutes for our food and the food was not good enough to make it worth the wait. We probably won’t be back.
Bland food, worse service. After waiting an hour for a table were told all they had for us was uncomfortable sheet metal stools in the back room. Waited half hour to order. The lady at the next table told us that they waited an hour for their food. I thought she was exaggerating. She wasn't. Food arrived cold and bland. Eggs Benedict were under cooked eggs on cold burnt toast. Server was unattendive (this is being kind) had to chase him down for cream for coffee and then again for silverware. He did, however, have plenty of time to stand around chatting with his coworkers.
Food was delicious and service was great. Croque Monsieur, goetta, coffee, and whatever my wife had were all good. Prices pretty high for breakfast.
Will be back service was great along with the food compliments to the Chef
Chicken apple apple mushroom croissant was tasty but the "C" BLT was a joke. It was plenty big but the "C" is for Charcuterie which, in this case, was balogna! Big disappointment for a $13 sandwich. Chicken n wild rice soup was delicious.
Great place to enjoy some wine and delicious food with a friend.
Perfectly flaky, buttery croissants found here. Cute cafe.
Upscale food and service with a laid back atmorsphere. Reasonable prices and a rotating menu.
Very pleasant. Great atmosphere and delicious food presented beautifully.
Went out to the French Crust for dinner last Friday evening and had a wonderful meal. The menu had just been updated so the printed menu was not ready. But our server was great at answering questions about the new menu and was very helpful and attentive. I had the short ribs and they were delicious, the short rib was cooked perfectly and I particularly enjoyed the smash potatoes in the dish. I've been hearing about how good their brunch is, so I can't wait to try it on my next visit!
We've been there a few times and food has always been great till today. I previously rated it 5 *, unfortunately, today the food was so subpar I am forced to downgrade the rating. I am not sure if they changed the chef or the chef changed the recipe, the eggs Benedict was one of the worst I've ever eaten.
I had excellent quiche here. Would eat here again.
Food was good, service meh. We sat in the more casual cafe in back.
Came for brunch! Everyone enjoyed their food and everything was very good :-) service was a little slow but other than that great!
I’ve been to France twice and have been looking for authentic French food ever since coming back from our last trip. Service was excellent. I’ve rated each item we ate. Onion soup: 4/5 - good flavor but broth:onion ratio was off, way too many onions compared to the real deal Rainbow trout (day special): 5/5 - husband said it was well flavored and the grapefruit really brought out the flavors Steak frites: 3/5 - ordered medium, came out medium-rare, not a huge deal but it was unevenly cooked and in some places it was rare. Meat was also pretty tough for a sirloin. Fries has good flavor but idt they were soaked long enough to get the starch out Eclair: 4/5 - appropriate size, lovely shell, chocolate was great but I could’ve done without the orange flavor personally.
The short ribs were delicious. Very tender. I ordered the sea scallops and was disappointed. Paid $25 for 4 quarter sized scallops and a kale and rice mixture. For that price 6 scallops would have been more appropriate.
I absolutely love the food. My only suggestion would be to throw out all those chipped coffee cups, they disturb an otherwise perfect presentation!
We made reservations for 5:00 pm Saturday and got there a little early. We sat a the bar until our table was ready and enjoyed the bartender 's extensive knowledge of wine and the suggested wine he poured for us (it was excellent). Then at the table we ordered ribs, 2 steaks and scallops. The portions were large and thefood was fantastic as well as the service. It is located on a corner directly across from the historic Findlay Market on the streetcar line. We will be back.
Excellent service, great food, crowded
Simple and delicious country French food. Excellent quiches and other breakfast fare.
French Crust Café and Bistro is a very popular spot directly across from Findlay Market. So popular in fact, that the wait on a rainy Sunday morning was nearly an hour. The food was tasty and came to the table hot. The menu has daily specials and this morning's crab and asparagus quiche was especially good. The few things that keep it from getting 5 stars were that their espresso machine was broken, so no cappuccino, and the long wait for the kitchen once we were seated.
Authentic and delicious French cuisine offered in a bright, fun decor by friendly, well-trained staff. Good wine selection and nice beer and cocktails. Anything with Jean-Robert’s hand on it is always exceptional!
I really liked the key lime tart.
Food is phenomenal. Make sure you are not in a hurry because this place stays busy. Meals are prepared with TLC.
I like Jean Robert's restaurants but this one seems to have pulled back on the French to have a broader appeal.
What a great breakfast spot! This great location with eclectic decorations was amazing. Our server was great in going over all the amazing selections with us. We all tried different dishes and everyone loved them. I had an Eggs Benedict dish that was out of this world! Highly recommend going here!
Good food. Nice waiter
Amazing food, stunning decor super reasonable prices
I was skeptical at first of the French cuisine, but oh my this was incredible. I had the Lobster Quiche and it was out of this world. Two huge slices of amazing quiche with great lobster bites, so fluffy and light. This place is just flat out incredible. Service was fantastic, restaurant had great decor, very clean, even had a cafe in the back, where amazing pastries and coffee are served. Oh, and you must try the Dark Chocolate Coffee - it is awesome. Very highly recommend trying this restaurant!
Tasty, reasonably priced French food.
Delicious pastries! Flaky and crusty croissant, soft and moist scones. Perfection.
Go here. Excellent food. Very good service. Not inexpensive, but an excellent value. Ham and cheese croissant(bechamel!!) is always available and always delicious. Can't miss with what ever is on special(fish and chips!!). Also, you'll catch a buzz off their desserts(caramel mousse!!!). No joke. Cool part of town too.
Loud, waited a long time for 2 omelettes, although they were delicious. Wait staff ok, not great
Such a nice environment and the pastry is incredible... Very good food and I'm excited to return to try more things!
Delicious food. The Gadsby was delicious but the rest of the drinks weren't as good. The food is amazing though.
All I can say is that the food is well worth the wait. The quiche was fantastic crust was flaky and the ingredients are so fresh. I started off with the almond chocolate croissant to die for. It was buttery and oh so delectable. A must have. Can't wait to return for dinner
I visited French Crust Cafe on 4/10. The food was fantastic and fresh. The service was lackluster at best, the sever seemed pretty occupied with other tables. We sat for nearly ten minutes before being acknowledged by someone who wasn't our server. It was fairly disappointing given the level I have received at restaurant L and Jean Robert's table. As someone who lives within walking distance of Findlay market I was looking for somewhere close to have a spot for lunch to become a "regular" but given the pace of service I will not be back.
Every meal I've had at French Crust has been amazing. I've only eaten here for brunch but I don't doubt that their dinner entrees will not disappoint. The food I've had have all been flavorful, savory, and balanced.
A bit sterile atmosphere, food was ok not a good wait staff. Pricey.
What a beautiful place with a great french feel. The decor is awesome and the food equally as great.
They definitely have escargot and I'm going back for it.
Excellent food with a very pleasant atmosphere, only complaint is food prep time seems to run a little long.
Excellent food and service! I would like to try brunch in the close future.
Wonderful change of pace in Cincy
We went for dinner a few weeks ago and it was quite nice. I had the sea scallops and they were cooked to perfection, served with a fantastic risotto. The only bummer was that they were out of quite a few items that were on the menu, and they were out of the lamb which my husband really wanted, when we first sat down. But he was happy with the short ribs. I can't wait to try their breakfast goodies next time!
Cute bistro. We came at a later lunch time but they ran out of 4 of the dishes we tried to order.
Killer breakfast potatoes and snobby bacon. 'fabulous. Nuff said.
Classic bistro cuisine, perfectly executed. And our server was great, too!
Stellar! Rarely a wait. The food is exceptional. Wonderful downtown gem.
great food, good service
Jean Roberts restaurants are always great.
The food was really a step above any place you could go, however, it was a bit uninspired or insipid. The texture and qualities of the quiche was amazing, but I really expected to have a bit more lobster and crab flavor, although I appreciate the tendency for this to overpower the quiche. The hot chocolate and coffee was spot on. Pancakes were fluffy and paired well with the maple syrup. The scrambled eggs (we ordered well done for my son) were good even though they were well done. The apple and chicken croissant felt like something i could have put together. Everything was perfectly done, it was just a bit plain and it didn’t really seem as if there was inspiration behind it. If this had been any other restaurant, id give it 5 stars, but when you go to a Jean Robert restaurant, you expect the best.
FABULOUS!! If you love french cuisine, this is the place. The prices are surprisingly reasonable, and the appetizers, entrees, and mouthwatering desserts are just wonderful. I can't recommend this place highly enough. There's plenty of parking nearby and if you want to really save money, park at findlay market and walk. It's literally across the street.
Great atmosphere, great food!
