If I could give more stars, I would. Loved the quaint ambiance and our service was fantastic! Our server was Bobbi and she couldn’t have been any more positive, knowledgeable and gracious. The food: amazing. Had salmon, the fancy grilled cheese, ratatouille, potatoes au gratin and crepes. Cannot wait to return

Robert Ivers

Excellent, authentic French food.

The food was excellent! The mushroom soup was sensational, as was the pork chop entree and the kale side dish. The server was very attentive and the owners came out to make sure we were happy with the quality of our selections. We will be back!

I was so excited to visit for the first time. I had heard the buzz and the story so I brought my 23 year old daughter out for lunch. The decor was cute and adorable with a hot teal pop of color. They used a chalk board menu that they brought to the table. Also a cute idea. Out waitress was not dressed in a uniform just street clothes. It would have be much more interesting had she just worn a long white apron to align with the bistrot theme. Also no name tag.The menu was a bit confusing unfortunately. It was lunch time and the limited entree menu was available all day. You had 2 options on one side of the board, a create your own salad with choice of greens, and choice of meat. When we asked the waitress how the meat was prepared she said it was lunch meat. Polite pass. I inquired about the sandwich. She said it was ham and swiss. Didn't mention that it was deep fried and battered Monte Cristo style. My daughter ordered the salmon skewer. I had a sparkling water and she had a water. I was happy that the restaurant carried sparkling water but coke products are underwhelming. As this is promoted as an authentic French bistrot I would like to see some creativity in their drink selection. Without a liquor license why not spice it up with offerings like homemade lavender lemonade, a selection of fresh iced teas, etc? It took a while for the food. While we waited I overhead an older woman going on and on about how hard the bread was. She told the waitress. The waitress apologized. When we received our entrees my sandwich looked well prepared , no garnish, just a sandwich. I had a side kale salad. The salad was DELICIOUS. The sandwich unfortunately was cold and undercooked in the center and the batter was still raw. I would have sent it back but our waitress didn't return for quite a while. My daughter's salmon was overcooked with one cherry tomato on a bed of white rice. It lacked any visual creativity or flavor. Overall there's potential here but the offerings need to be much more French and much more creative to stand out.

Stopped by to sit at their sidewalk tables . This is part of the Old Milford DORA walk . We were served bread and wine . We did not try the food . For those interested in the DORA walk there was some confusion on where the drinks are allowed . I think this will work out the longer this is in place .

Stopped by Chez Renee for lunch today. Took advantage of their happy hour special, which offer a free appetizer with the purchase of two glasses of wine. Appetizers and dessert were delicious. Food served hot and fresh. Atmosphere is more sophisticated then other restaurants in the area. Perfect spot for business meal, girls lunch or romantic dinner.

At last a real french restaurant in Milford and just as good as anything you will find in Paris. This is a great spot.

Isabelle Schram

Delicious, authentic French restaurant. Healthy, traditional yet simple dishes to be enjoyed by all. Quaint setting in the heart of Old Milford. Highly recommended.

Alex Taillan

The food was delicious. It felt like real French cuisine and that you are in France

Went today for 1st time for lunch. Ordered a 'simple' and typical French bistro meal (croque-monsieur with its side green salad). Food was first quality ingredients, very tasty and generous. Service was efficient and friendly. Do not rate a 5 as I would need to check a more sophisticated dish. Hope they get their full license soon. Bonne chance Laurent !

Croque Monsieur looking too good.

Chris Simons

Could not get any better. Potatoes au Gratin are superior. Bacon cream sauce is amazing! Chocolate crepes are not to be missed

We've been for lunch and dinner. Lunch was a while ago, so specifics hazy. Just that it was very, very good. For dinner, (more recent), my wife's beef bourguignon was a bit dry and tough. On the other hand, my breast of duck was to die for. Side dishes of root vegetables, potato au gratin with a touch of nutmeg, and crepes for desert. (I especially liked the butter and sugar crepe.) We'll go again.

Steve Heglin

They make a delicious croque madame for a really good price. Love the interior and seating, and our server was awesome. Great place for a reasonably priced brunch.

Enjoyed the food as well as the wait staff. The chairs and especially the booth was not comfortable and it was a bit chilly by the window.

We were required to order off the Valentine's menu. The appetizer was ok, the rest was meh and all came with french fries. I got the chicken breast that was so dry I couldn't eat it with fries... $50 Also the waitress couldn't answer any of my questions at all including if food contained shellfish (I have an allergy). She just told us over and over again how busy the cook was and she couldn't bother him... Won't be back... Ever.

Xan Mann

Great, authentic French food!

Got the calamari and it was delicious. Cute setup with friendly staff. Will try again.

Came in Saturday morning during Art Affair. Was not busy when we first arrived. There was only one server at the time. My eggs were extremely undercooked, never asked if we needed refills on our drinks, which we did. The server never even got back to our table to see if everything was ok, or if we needed anything. We had to flag her down to even get our check. If I could have given 0 stars, I would have. I don’t usually submit reviews, but we will never be back again. Nor will I be recommending this establishment.

Words alone can't describe this wonderful taste of France in Milford. Tonight I feasted on Sea Scallops in a perfect cream and wine sauce.

Stopped by on Saturday for lunch. Friendly staff, nice decor, and a great lunch! Welcome to Milford - we look forward to coming down for dinner one evening to try an entree. BTW - chocolate mousse was fantastic.

Don't waste your money!! As a Milford resident I was excited about a French restaurant opening on Main Street. Unfortunately dinner was very disappointing. Everything was poorly prepared, from the salad (some lettuce leaves thrown in a bowl), to entree (steak, Pan fried and tough) to sides (plain dry white rice, tasted like Uncle Bens), to dessert (chocolate mousse, heavy and gritty with several unpleasant off flavors). Our meals were not served hot. Even the 1/2 baguette disappointed, cut into tiny slices, mostly air, not equal to local bakeries. I've been to France...and you can easily find delicious prix fixe meals with daily-baked bread there for not much money. Prices here are inflated, and not competitive in Milford. Service was friendly, but inexperienced. Currently no liquor license and the owner ungraciously does not permit BYO. Will not be returning.

A lovely little surprise to find when our enjoying a beautiful day on the motorcycles. A true French cafe/restaurant. Thoroughly enjoyed my brunch of Croque Madame. Hope to come back with friends for dinner.

Bill Bender

Great, really great, little French bistro. Wonderful food. Jazz in background adds to the intimate, cozy feeling. Wine, beer, homemade, per order, fresh foof. Couldn't be happier to have them in neighborhood.

Absolutely terrible service. Table of three. Plenty of open tables. Ordered standard items off menu. Took 70 minutes from ordering food to time it was served. Not even a slice of bread or our salads. Several tables were seated after us and had left before we were served. Never an apology or explanation. Waitress Angelina was smug with lines like “at least your food will be warm when it comes out.” I will NEVER eat there again. Lousy.

Paul Heagen

Uninspiring. Food lacked much flavor, nothing at all in presentation. There was simply nothing memoriable nor notable. If they had just called it "Mom's Diner" it would have earned another star, but to pretend there was anything French about it was a real stretch.

Matthew Davidson

The place is adorable and food was fantastic! The scallop entree was unexpected, but amazing! We lucked into the happy hour special of a free appetizer with the purchase of two glasses of wine. Service was great!

Slowest service! Food was barely ok. Quiche was flattest I've ever seen lacking filling. Mushroom soup had good flavor. Tuna sandwich needed more filling. I do not recommend if you're on a work lunch break. Nice atmosphere.

The good: This restaurant has a nice atmosphere and available outside seating. The menu offers combo discounts which is nice. Our server was very good as well. What could be better: The food could use help below is what we thought of our dished Bread with cheese: good. Stuffed mushroom: a lot of black pepper, it's all I tasted, it masked all other flavors. Hot Brie and fruit: grapes, onion, and cheese baked together wasn't exactly what we were thinking, it did not taste good. The brie was so liquid that we couldn't spread it on the bread. It's also the same bread we just ate that was given to us as well. Salmon and shrimp special: three small pieces of plain salmon and a three shrimp with a side of sauce on a large plate looked unappetizing.. The curry was watery and didn't didn't go well with the salmon or shrimp. Portion size is too small and presentation wasn't good. Side of white rice: very dry. It would be more appropriate for fried rice perhaps, this was not good. Pork chop with mustard sauce. A single pork chop cooked well but lacking flavor. I dipped it in the sauce which helped but this isn't I good entree. It's a piece of meat with sauce on the side. Vegetable medley: this is more of a vegetable stew served in a bowl. It didn't taste very good. Macaroon: this is not a coconut macaroon or French macaroon. Two hard cookies with chocolate filling. This was served cold. We did not finish it or want to take it home. Overall, we would like this French restaurant to do well, please work on your food.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Felt like I was back in France. The mushroom soup was topped with a pastry with thinner than paper layers that melted in my mouth. My 3 cheese quiche was made with a buttery delicious crust and while I was too full for dessert, I did it anyway. Our server suggested the butter sugar crepe. How many ways can I say it melted in my mouth? I just wished I found it sooner and that my father, who traveled to Paris regularly for work, was alive to enjoy it with me. He loved well done French food and Chez Renee does everything right.

The food was amazing and the servers were very friendly. It had a great atmosphere too. Will definitely be back.

I have never left a restaurant so angry and I've never left a restaurant wishing for it's demise before I met Cathy, the owner. My wife and I visited here for the first and only time and were left flabbergasted. Our server was relatively inattentive, albeit with a pleasant disposition. She asked if we would like some bread before our meal. It never came, nor did we receive more bread for our brie when we ran out with plenty of cheese remaining. I ordered the Croque Madame, with a side salad. She ordered the salmon skewer, with a side of potatoes O grat. My sandwich arrived as ordered, but with potatoes instead of salad. Frankly I didn't pay attention as I ate the sandwich, which was quite good. She was given a dish that didn't exactly look like salmon, and it wasn't on a skewer. She took a bite and realized it was the wrong entree. She ate her potatoes, which thankfully was delivered as ordered. When our waitress finally made her way back to our table, roughly 15 minutes after our food had been delivered (there were only 2 other tables at that time) we told her about her entree being incorrect, and me receiving the wrong side. She pointed out that a bite had been taken out. She calmly explained that, yeah, that's how she realized it was the wrong entree. The waitress expressed confusion about how there could have been a mix up, insinuating that my wife was mistaken and ordered incorrectly. She told the waitress that no, she was certain if what was ordered, and recalled specifically how it was listed on the menu. She went to the kitchen to being the issue up with Cathy. After a few minutes she returned with what would basically be described as a shrug emoji, that Cathy wouldn't remake the entree, or remove the wrong item from the bill. At that point I requested to speak to Cathy. She came out immediately belligerent and scolding us that since she ate a bite we were in the wrong. We should have known immediately that a dish we've never ordered at a restaurant we've never visited was incorrect without taking a bite. After we objected, she snottily grabbed the dish, stomped back to the kitchen, and telling she'll just comp the entree. We never asked or demanded for anything, nor were we even asked what we wanted. All my wife wanted was to eat the entree she ordered.

I am French, married to an American for 18 years, I am not a habitue to write opinions, but I am angry when I see people taking as much time to write negative opinions, without thinking that they want to do evil Rather than bear. CONTINUE, do not take into account the opinions of malicious people, certainly jealous ... I am now a regular as lunch as dinner, Bravo, welcome to milford, everything is not perfect but you have already brought improvements and with The license of alcohol in 3 or 4 weeks, it will be great

Not a good place if you are going on a lunch break or need something quick. Decent food though, not very many vegetarian options.

Had dinner with my husband tonight. There were a few things things made this visit unpleasant. First, it was extremely warm and uncomfortable. Luckily, I could take off my sweater, but my husband was miserable in his long sleeved shirt. Second, the tables are very close together and cramped. If you want privacy and quiet, you will not find it here. Third, it took quite a while for our waitress to greet us. Frankly, I don’t know if she was inexperienced, but nothing she did was quick. After we placed the drink and appetizer order we sat for a very long time wondering when we might get some bread. Appetizer came and we had to ask for the bread. Fourth, our salads came with our dinner and my husbands steak was just a piece of steak in a plate (w/no steak knife). Fifth, the men’s room door is literally behind someone’s chair. The woman nearly had to get up and move her chair for men to go in/out. Overall, the food was good but some had a lot of the same seasoning (thyme on Brie and also carrots - which were over seasoned). The turkey and mushrooms was good. I think the food could have been presented nicer. Our waitress never checked on us once we got our food. When we flagged her down for more water we went ahead and ordered desserts while we had her attention. They had a “We are hiring” sign out and were obviously under staffed. But even the couple next to us never got their appetizers and he had cork in his wine. They need to work on better service! We will not be going back.

In reading some of the negative reviews I was wondering if we have even been in the same place. We have been here twice this year for dinner with friends (4 of us once, 6 the other time) and both times everything was excellent in all aspects. The waitresses Angela & Piper were top-notch. Very prompt and attentive as well as personable. Very knowledgeable about the menu items and offered some helpful suggestions. The breads were perhaps the best we've ever had anywhere. All our meals, and we each had something different, were well prepared and tasty (salmon skewer, turkey, burger. Prime ribeye, Charcuterie Plate, onion soup). A very enjoyable evenings in a nice venue. Will definitely return. P.S. to those reviewers who complain about the slowness of service. This is a restaurant, not a fast food joint so chill and enjoy the experience. If you're impatient or in a hurry go to a drive thru.

Tried this little place for the first time, and couldn't be happier with our experience! The food was so tasty, and the espresso was perfect. Our only complaint is that we didn't save room for dessert!! We will definitely be going back.

We went for lunch, nice croquet monsieur, different tasting onion soup, but my main comment regards the exorbitant wine prices. Nice French wine but the cost was way out of line (60$ a bottle) and up. The atmosphere itself should not command these inflated prices. It was a special occasion, reason for the wine.
