REVIEWS OF Butcher and the Brewer IN Ohio

Jack Okada

Food was pretty good, got the crispy pork, cauliflower and the sliders ($60 with tax and tip). Service was very good. Atmosphere was lively and definitely loud (in case you're averse to that). Prices don't represent a great value in terms of how much food you get for the money. Everything is served on plates to share with the table.

Mattheus Falhouse

I visited Butcher and Brewer 2 weeks earlier and enjoyed it a lot, so, this time I brought my family to visit. We loved the food and vibrant atmosphere. ( ok, the restrooms?? You just have to see it for yourself) Mussels, Dates, wings, mac n cheese, Ribeye.. they were all delicious. The most memorable part about this visit was our server, Brittany. She was fantastic. Great personality, very knowledgeable and very aware of her tables. We were lucky to have her.

Brendan Shefcik

phenomenal place to eat. almost everything you have there is made-from-scratch, from start to finish. Curing and butchering their own meats, making their own cheese, brewing their own beer. They also promote a communal atmosphere of sharing plates among people who go, which is still more than enough to eat most of the time

Wendi Thumudo

Great how they have smaller plates that are meant to be shared by everyone at the table. A nice space. Was busy though it was only a Tuesday when I went.

Anthony Zunt

Great beer and delicious food. Little overpriced but quality was good!!

Chris Pizer

Awesome food and service

Tiredof Allthis

Best restaurant in Cleveland. May not be French white glove fancy, but everything on the menu is amazing. Everything is top shelf, there is no good, better, best. Just the best. They even use paper to go containers instead of plastic foam. I take my family (4 and 6 year old boys) at opening so it isn't packed or loud. The only things I don't like are the distracting TVs and the "popular" music, but I understand why they are there.

Erica E

Communal seating, food served family style. Love the lobster roll, unlike any lobster roll I have ever had..but a little pricey. It can easily serve 2. It's about $27 for a slice of toasted bread with fresh lobster on top. I love it, so I continue to go back just be prepared for some sticker shock.

Mark Chowaniec

Good local place to come back to for inviting comfort food and local brews

Sheri Ward

Fun atmosphere...good service...yummy beer. Bought a flight and EVERY one wad great! Love the downtown location near sporting events...which I'm not used to in Los Angeles. Not one person ribbed me for wearing my Dodgers t-shirt...though, to be fair, it's not baseball season just yet. Lol.

Paul Brownell

Food was good, but the restaurant is very loud. There is no sound deadening, only concrete. It was very popular though. 45 min wait on Friday at 8pm

Erin Frazier

Tasty dishes that could be shared. Cocktails were good, I had put the lime in the coconut and it was delicious. I would definitely visit again.

Nicole Foerstner

Food was pretty run of the mill. Very loud and crowded. Good stop for a well made craft beer, but I'd go across the street to Mabel's for dinner.

brock richard

Generally unimpressed with the food. They ran out of ribeye (it was 8 pm). The chicken and wings were dry, and the Mac and cheese was just okay. All in all, I'd prefer to go across the street to Mabel's. Same pricing, significantly better food.

Arthur Smith

Great area downtown. Great place with good service.

Megan Crawford

Fantastic food! Great patio when the weather is nice and plenty of inside seating. Have had nothing but great service.

Teresa Gagliardi

Extremely good food and service@

Eyal S. Ron

Fun place with good vibes. The lights were low for a romantic atmosphere but as a result it was hard to read the menu. The beer selection was vast but our beers although they were fresh they were weak on flavor. the scallops of the shrimp and Grits were very good but not hot. Maybe they were held in the kitchen for a ransome.

Miranda Price

got there near six, it wasn't packed at all. i look forward to going back again. bring your hunger - portions are generous.

Craig Sippola

Underrated place for lunch. Most people aren't aware they serve lunch. Good sandwiches and not crowded.....yet.

Stephen Fisk

The staff was great but menu was disapointing.

Rick Romeo

Great place! The brews were very good. The flatbread was great! Lots of musical references on the menu if your in the know. ...

M

While we were there, we saw at least 4 employees drinking. We also saw an employee put his hand in to the tray where the limes, lemons, and cherries are kept and started eating something from there. Our service over all was good, food was ok. Just disgusted that the employees would be allowed to drink around and behind the bar. Dont believe me, watch your cameras. I was in there at 6:10pm on 7/21/19. Watch the guy in the red shirt. Along with your bartender with a green shirt on.

Stacie Hawkins

Wasnt sure when we walked in if we were going to enjoy this place or not. It is very loud! However, this turned out to be a very unexpected and pleasant surprise. The menu is a little confusing and if you are not used to this type of dining it can be a bit over whelming. We decided to order our own but ended up sharing it with everyone. The food was so good! The BBQ pork shank was amazing and the white BBQ sauce was so different and tasty!!! Will definitely return and enjoy their food again!

306 Bayard

Big place. Lots of tables and chairs for big group to spread out. Great bar food.

Janice Burkot

A little pricey and small portions but good food. Wait staff was very friendly.

David haar

I can’t really review this place for anything except service, in which case they totally failed. I understand not getting attention sitting at the bar for 10 minutes when it’s busy and the bartenders are running around. But when you look directly in my eye, while you’re chatting with the other bartender, while there’s not many patrons sitting at the bar(maybe 6 or 7?), that tells me you’re not that interested in my business. I literally walked across the street to Mabel’s, which was MUCH busier, only ONE bartender, and still was greeted and taken care of almost immediately. No wonder their bar is full of patrons and yours had about 15 empty stools at the bar.

Megan Thompson

I tried to have dinner with a friend at Butcher and the Brewer on Monday night. It wasn't very busy, yet I was seated at one of the fullest group tables they have (rather than one of the empty or mostly empty tables). That was frustrating, but it was ok. What wasn't ok was waiting for 15 minutes after being seated and never once being asked if I'd like to place my order - or even greeted by a server! The servers came to serve the other 3 parties seated at the table, yet still no "Hi, have you been helped? Would you like a drink?" The icing on the cake was when the server removed my menu and drink menu without taking my order. We ended up walking out at this point and going to Zocalo down the street - Zocalo was great!

Trevor Y

Food is great and beer selection is great. Recommend samplers for first time visitor

Cody Nash

A great stop for good beer and food on east 4th. Perfect for before a game.

Mark Brozak

This is a very interesting place, I have been there twice for maker meetups, once in 2018 and once in 2019. The event was catered in house and held in the lower floor or basement. All the food I tried was excellent, the staff was pleasant and helpful. The stairwell from the upper floor to lower floor is amazing and I can only imagine what it was like in the late 1800s or early 1900s when the building was fairly new and what type of business it was.

Anum Riaz

Great atmosphere and the small plates were delicious! Highly recommend the Patatas Bravas!

Rand Paselk

We had great dinner and beers. As far as anyone remembers. We were up to Cleveland for the rock and roll hall of fame. The party started early and the BnB was somewhere in between.

Kirk Powell

Good food and service. Not what I expected.

Brian Lichtle

Fantastic food, fantastic staff. Absolutely amazing.

Nathan DeAngelis

Good beer. Great atmosphere. Also I love the singular toilets and the community sink

Gerek Shipley

This place is awesome! It's a really cool environment, and the service, beers and food were all great. Our server was Chad. He was so good that I wrote his name down so that I'd remember to give him props when writing this review. I don't think I've ever done that. Super outgoing and gave great recommendations. The pierogi flatbread was delicious and the saison and white stout beers were ridiculous.

Belinda New

Good unique foods. A bit loud. Great service and the wings, well let's just say....really big!

James Dobbins

This place is a great meet up place in a great location. The area is full of restaurants, and is a street closed off to vehicles, just walkers. The Butcher and the Brewer knows their stuff, I had the sliders. They had the most amazing garlic butter over the top that I wanted more than the 3 that came on the plate. Their beers are made in house, you can see the equipment in the back of the building. If they have the blonde stout and you like stouts, I suggest you get it! One of the best locally owned places I've eaten in a very long time.

n l

First time here. It was a shared plate/family style service. We ordered 6 plates. Each dish was brought out individually. It was very well coordinated and allowed us more time talk and enjoy the house beers. Out of the 6 dishes the two that stood out the most in deliciousness was the Mac and cheese and the pork shoulder.

Linda Bosway

Pirogue flat bread, pretzels and sliders were amazing. Really enjoyed this place.

William DeKnight

Excellent food, drink and service. The albino stouts are incredible!

Richard Moore

Killer food. Good time. Great atmosphere.

Violet Ward

I am not a brewpub person- but the food was good. Was with a large group- so got to try all types of plates. The broccoli was a bit to citrusy. Also, they have a liquor license, which is good for non-beer drinkers. Nice staff too.

Dick Wolfe

The scallops are outstanding; try them.

Carlton Cherry

Very interesting food, the tastes you'll find here are unique to this one place to eat. There lamb rubs have a paprika and cinnamon rub and a pretty much a marmalade sauce. Great beer selection and atmosphere. Give em a try

Justan Dazey

I love this place! The bone marrow is amazing. the capers and onions cut the fat perfectly atop delicious little toasts. The lamb ribs were tender but not too soft. They were rubbed with a nice marinate and the mango jam under it was a nice change from the traditional mint jelly and lamb combo. One of the ribs had a cold bite on one end but was still bomb.

Nathan Payton

This place was really good. We tried a lot of different items. The bacon wrapped dates were my favorite, and the smoked mac and cheese was a close second. We also ordered the calamari which was really good. And the pretzel with beer cheese had some of the best beer cheese I have ever had. I also got the dried aged rib eye which was ok at best. If you go here the Albino Stout is a must. Things I didn't like ahoy Butcher and the Brewer: 1) The music was way too loud. We were yelling at our table and even then it was hard to hear one another. 2) The server was nice, but he kept forgetting stuff at our table. He actually seemed like he was drunk.

Ben Walnick

Very good service and mostly very good food. I also enjoyed the in-house brewed beers they had on tap. I bring them down to 3-stars for two reasons: A) overpriced. Small “shareable” portions for a hefty price. B) Half the items I ordered were great, half were average or sub par. Wings: great. Sausage flatbread: great. Corn dogs: meh. Chorizo tacos: I’d rather have Taco Bell. ($9 for two tacos that weren’t even good!) Service, beer and a couple good plates bring this to three stars, but for my first time visiting Cleveland, I’d expect more from a 4.5 star average.

Kenneth Kelley

staff is always nice even when they have a full house. i'll return family next time. it has a great atmosphere.

Maria Cruz

The service was wonderful and the food was out of this world. I enjoyed myself. We went to celebrate our anniversary and this place was just perfect.

Padraic Hagan

Dynamite food with a focus on shareable "small plate" stuff. Great selection of beers, with a good focus on local stuff. Don't know when I'll be in Cleveland again, but will definitely go back if I ever am.

Constance Powell

The food was excellent, I opted for the sliders and potatoes. The potatoes were so damn good with an amazing seasoning. The burgers, sooo damn good. Each cooked perfectly with a little salt on top of each bun. I would absolutely order these, they are amazing. The beer was good, I didn't care much for the cream ale, but both stouts were excellent, the albino and regular, excellent beers! The 4 samples is $10 and they are healthy pours. Service overall was good, I had one great bartender at the start and one kind of dud, who never really came back until I paid. If I am in Cleveland again I will absolutely stop here just for those sliders alone!

Christine Elmore

Great food, service was outstanding and of course very good beer

Anna Kolar

Incredible food and solid beer. Order as much of both as you possibly can. It will be a pricey bill, but it's 100% worth it. Bring your friends and split the tab - you won't be disappointed!

Spencer Dunham

This is one of the best restaurants in Cleveland. The cocktails and beer are fun and delicious. There is a variety of delicious appetizers, including homemade corn dogs and smoked wings. Every entree we've tried has been amazing too, from the crispy pork shank to the shrimp and grits. We would definitely recommend this spot on all counts!

Samuel Crank

If you like locally brewed beer, this is your place!!!!! My wife and I shared a flight of beers and a perogy flat bread pizza. Im not a big drinker so I just took a sip of each but my wife really liked them. The flat bread pizza was good! Looking downstairs where they brew is neat! My only complaint is that it gets very loud with the crowd in this building

Peter Fleming

The lamb ribs were amazing, and Jamie our waitress was just as good! And Oktoberfest is fantastic.

Robert We

Neat place, The comedy show was funny

Elias Gonzalez

One of my go to places for food and drinks before a game at the Q, as it is within walking distance. They have shareable apps that are to die for and allow you to try several different things if you are there with a group. Plus the staff is always attentive and friendly.

Shannon Abdullah

It was a bit pricey, but the food was awesome!

Brian Kehres

Great atmosphere and food. Excellent drink selection. Definitely recommend

Quyen Lam

Friendly staff, good beer selection and I really enjoyed the calimari

Pa Sc

Amazing beer ans food. Absolutely recommend. Friendly staff...

Adam D

This place is awesome. It's in a very cool, open space. It seems like a historic building based on the beautiful staircase in the back leading down to the basement, where there is more seating and bathrooms. The bar area was fun, with comfortable chairs (with backs!) and plenty of TVs to watch sports. They make their own beers which were very good. I had the Calliopes and Clowns and Dear Abbey, both of which were excellent. I also had some appetizers, including the Bread & Slather and the House Smoked Corn Dogs. Both were fantastic with the beers. I will definitely return. If I lived nearby I would eat and drink my way through the entire menu.

Kristy Moyer

The food was outstanding. It was pretty busy and quite loud, but is good for a casual dinner. If you like beer - the Albino Stout is a must try!!

Sarah Lincoln

Stopped in before an Indians game. The cocktails were on point and the albino lager was delicious and unique. Great bar staff as well!

Amanda Bird

Their steak tartare is fabulous! The sausage flatbread is zesty and satisfying!

deb clough

Food was delicious, small servings, great bev selection. It is CRAZY LOUD!! Servers were awesome, quick, friendly, etc.

Jeremy Moses

The atmosphere was great and the food was very good! The server also took time at the beginning of the meal to explain all the different beer and food selections. The individual dishes are quite large and the meal is served family style. I would highly recommend the sliders as they were my favorite item.

Francesca Parente Williams

A long table at Butcher and Brewer sat empty and unused the whole time we were there (1.5 hrs) so the 6 of us ate dinner at the bar - 3 sat while 3 stood

Jeremy Ballinger

Great location, relaxed atmosphere, big selection of locally made beers, and the food is packed with flavor. The mushroom flat bread and lamb ribs were stellar!

James Watanabe

Anything with meat is amazing. Had the pork on a bone and a perfectly cooked medium rare rib eye. It has a gravy with it which I'm usually against for a rib eye but in this case it complimented it perfectly. Also west coast oysters are better than east coast oysters!

Mike Sawyer

Food was really good, I didn't like how there was 4 of us and each of our meals came out 10 minutes apart. They sit you and then tell you how they serve family style, which to me, means all of the food is served and everyone shares a portion large enough that everyone can get a little. The slow serving time burnt about an extra half an hour on our way to a concert on a Monday night. Maybe it was just that night. It's VERY loud inside, don't go if you're looking to chat with people. Regardless, the scallops were amazing and I'll go again.

Craig Bogart

A great place! I loved the atmosphere & the area that looked like a meat market. The food there was excellent, as well as the home brews! If you go, get there early on game days cause the place is very popular after the game.

Jeff Polhemus

All our food was perfectly prepared - ribeye, steak tartar, and pork shank. Tender with great flavor.

Diana Blu

The food was so delicious and the beer was amazing. I had an albino stout, which is shocking, it looks like a pilsner, but it tasted like a stout what is this sorcery!!!!! The tartar was like butter and the macaroni and cheese with impeccable the sliders are also delicious and still wear the broccoli. Highly recommend this place.

Allan Hensley

The wings were fantastic, smoked then fried. The corndogs were great! The make the hotdogs in house, and it shows. And oh my what a Lobster roll. Best one I've had this far west of the Atlantic. The beer was also incredible. I did a flight of barrel aged Saisons, and all were very good. Stop by, you won't be disappointed.

Rick Ciesla

Really good, fun place. Was really busy, but service was fast and great. Will be back

Don Stevens

A nice place for brews and larger than life tapas. Tried mac and cheese, mussels, and bacon wrapped dates. I was a little disappointed with selections, and there was no happy hour specials, but overall, very tasty. Service was great. Very friendly.

Matthew Goforth

This is an AMAZING spot downtown. If You have not tried the food you are definitely missing out. Oh, and they brew on site so thats an added bonus. The employees are very friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. Overall a fantastic place to check out.

Erica B

Went here for a friends bachelorette party, food was great so are the beers!

Allison Stupakevich

Food was amazing and staff was great

Brian Hildebrandt

Awesome food and atmosphere

Matt Ashton

Great Vibe, great unique brews, good food and great bartenders (John & Isaac)! I had a flight of tasters and a couple full size beers. All good but the Albino Stout was my favorite. For eats I had the oven baked pretzels and the sliders. Sliders and pretzels were very good but the roasted garlic Carmel dipping sauce for the pretzels was out of this world!

Larry Mckee

Our wait time was less than half of the quoted time. Really good beers.

Jedi Starwalker

Geeat spot for some delicious bar food.

Colt Tufford

Food drinks and service were excellent! Huge craft beer selection

Harald Kjølberg

Good food and very tasty beers. Lively atmosphere and a great place to spend a Friday night. The pork shank was perfect with the Stop Hop Kaboom IPA.

Philip Plunkett

Unusual dishes well executed. The crispy BBQ pork shank was off the hook. Attentive but unobtrusive service and a delightful atmosphere and location made for a great evening.

Aron Miller

Nice place with amazing service. Interesting brews. I loved the food experience.

John Jeffcoat

Food and beers are great. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Nick Hirzel

Unique and cool spot on E 4th. Excellent food whether you're stopping over after a game for an appetizer of some wings or eating dinner on a date. Everything has delicious - chorizo tacos, sliders, wings, pork shank, lobster roll, and beer. Great communal space for all. Be sure to stop in

george gerges

Bring back old the calamari order! I’m cool with increased prices but don’t mess with your quality and portions please. Absolutely love the beers

Bschraepf

First there was zero wait on a Friday night. Everything is family style inlcuding the seating (but they don't put you ontop of another group there's still SOME space you just share a table) good was great atmosphere was great. Service was considering how busy they were. I would absolutely go again.

Meg Weglarz

Terrific food, creative menu, pleasant staff but LOUD. Sit outside if you can.

sean connelly

Need to make more of your desirable beers. Everytime I come to this venue every other beer is out of stock. Make more of your damn barley wine and have something other than your garbage milk stout in the dark department.

Tony Bennett

Great outdoors seating for a drink after the game!

Carolyn Sobol

Server seemed a little lost but the food and beer was great.

R Stace

I can't complain about anything other than our sassy server , she was a little rude. The food was delicious , I loved the place

Todd Ward

Loved it! Get the smoked wings, but nothing we had was bad.

Mike Holleran

Great food and a great selection of beers. On a Friday night is almost impossible to hear people in you party but besides that food and atmosphere here makes it a must if you are in the area

Christine Verzosa

We got here after midnight, after driving pretty much all day; we were hungry and tired! Came in and had the bar menu: corn dogs with grain beer mustard and house made ketchup, pretzels with beer cheese and roasted garlic caramel dipping sauces, and chorizo tacos. My husband has the Simplicity American Pale Ale and I had the Snobs Spring Wheat Imperial Wheat Bier. Everything was delicious. Great service in spite of an unexpected rush, staff was friendly and everything came out pretty fast. If it was earlier we would have tried more beers and would have loved to try the other non bar menu items. Great brewery and scratch kitchen located on 4th Street, surrounded by lots of other restaurants and bars, good place to start or end your night out in Cleveland.

Patrick McIlwaine

I kept hearing about this place during my weekend in Cleveland, so I had to check it out. It loved up to the hype! Everything was delicious, we had bone marrow, steak tartare, corn dogs, a couple flat bread, and more! The beer was great, the food was great, and the service was great. Will definitely come back if I'm back in Cleveland.

Keith Hayes

Loved the beers and atmosphere. Only went for drinks this time. Looking forward to visiting again to try the food.

Bev B

Wonderful stout, great menu, friendly service. Gotta try the corn dogs. It's noisy, but it's got a good vibe.

Christina Amoroso

This place is fantastic. The food is great. The atmosphere is fantastic. The only mild complaint I have is the server was rude and kept ignoring my friend and I. It's a bit pricey but I really enjoyed my food and drinks.

Chris Carstens

Fantastic food and ambience buttressed by excellent beer and service. You'll find mostly small plates to share here. Three of us shared 5 plates. Which was plenty. We had the sliders, corn dogs, roasted pork shank, scallops, and a veggie(can't remember). This is s great spot for a date night or a tasty bite with friends.

Jon Andersen

Great food for good prices, and excellent choice of beers

Burton Hill

Hmm, what to say about this establishment??? The food was enjoyable though not outstanding. We ( the misses and I were on a date night ) and we decided to hit down town we had seen this place on a previous downtown excursion and decided to give it a go this time around. The menu is small in comparison to most other places but that's not a bad thing as long as you do what you have well. Upon entering the building we were hit with a busy lively scene it was sort of dark and loud that's one thing I can say about this place it's not a spot for quite dining. The hostess was how should I put it.... odd, she seemed both dismissive and mildly hostile at the same time. She looked at us when we came in and approached the couple who came in after us sat them and came back to the hostess area the I had to approach her before she acknowledged us and sat us. No pleasantries just how many in your party gets the menus walks to a table places the menus walks away and says not a word no nothing. The server was better she was informative, polite and attentive. We had the lamb ribs, the pork shank, the grilled broccoli, the mac and cheese, the corn dogs and the bacon wrapped dates. I rather enjoyed everything except the mac and cheese. It was good but nothing to write home about. My wife on the other hand was less impressed she only enjoyed the lamb shank. The corn dogs were just that mini breaded dogs on a stick with a fancy mustard and house made ketchup. You get I believe three and they are two bites each. The grilled brocolli was very nice I think I'm going to try that at home. The shank was crispy and moist plenty of meat for two delicious. The ribs were tasty you only get two if I remember correctly, they are small. The dates were really mostly sausage with a piece of date on top wrapped in bacon they were tasty but I expected more date. All in all it's a cool spot. Would I go again yes I'm in no hurry but if friends wanted to hang, weren't big eaters and didn't mind spending a $100 or so dollars per couple this spot might get a mention. Our total came up to $79 with tip just over $90.

Long Tr

Lamb ribs...very tasty! The local beer ..repeater was very good as well. Definitely a place to stop by for beer and meat!

Brenston Treaudo

Love this place. Great fresh oysters. The pretzels were great! I can't remember my bartenders name after a long day but she was awesome. The male bartender the night I went there had a weird attitude but it didn't stop my vibe

Scott Klima

Great place. Good beer all around. The pork shank is out of this world delicious....like best pork I've ever had delicious. Fair prices. Basement & bathrooms were kinda cool and unique.

Missy McNees

This place is fantastic! Great beer and amazing food. Try the corn dogs!

Tony Nunn

Just about everything is consistently amazing here. The bill comes out significantly lower than other restaurants that have the same quality. Their beer is also amazing. Just a pleasure to dine here.

Tedi-Marie Usher

The food and beer were good but the menu didn't mention that the sauce on the chicken dish contains almonds and peanuts. I got quite sick to my stomach. That info should probably be on the menu.

Eric Grubbs

This place is great. The items on the menu are made for sharing and are plentiful. Every dish we had was so full of flavor. Jamie was awesome! She was very nice friendly and guided us in the right direction for selecting the perfect meal! Cant wait to go back!

Suzie Serrano

Love this place!!! Get the appetizer with dates wrapped in bacon..absolutely mouth watering!! The sliders were equally terrific! If you love good cocktails, try the 'Ocean Potion'...very good and my new favorite!!!

Kitaka Jones

Cool place, friendly staff and good beer.

Chris Goodwin

Been here twice, left more than satisfied both times. Some of the best food in the city, hands down. Maybe some of the best I have ever had! Cooked perfectly and the beer is true perfection. There is a reason it's always packed!

Amy Chung

Lively spot with really good food! All the plates are meant to be shared. Highlight recommend the patatas bravas with chorizo and egg as well as the sliders. For drinks, try the old-fashioned that has hoppy beer mixed in.

Trev Carter

One of my favorite spots on east 4th. Go there for dinner or drinks after an Indians game/ comedy show and take in the scene. Walking downstairs to the restrooms you can see the chefs working and prepping food, very open environment. Awesome spot!

Derek

Overall this place was very cool. The staff was friendly and the food was quick. This was my first time here and it is made to be "family style dining" is they way it was described to us. The portion size was a bit small in my opinion for the items to be shared, but the food was very good and so was the service. I will be back to this place in the future.

Cody Haviland

We were pleased. Great food and beer selection. Place was a bit crowded and noisy.

maxwell posival

This was an awesome brewpub. The interior design is very unique, and they have a great selection of beer and the food is AWESOME!!

Wilson Laboy

I love coming here when I’m seeking a lively, open place with a unique downstairs experience. Their drink options are tremendous and their meals are delicious. The atmosphere opens you up and gives you the liberty and freedom to have a good time with your friends and family. Highly recommended for big groups of people.

Gary Pearson

Both the beer and the food were great, although we just had appetizers. Loved the building and the atmosphere.

Jim Gilmour

Great food, great brew and a fun atmosphere

Spartan 117

I liked the beers I had. The Sugary stout was excellent.

Matt Sickert

Excellent atmosphere, great beers, and not bad food. You can't go wrong making a visit.

Robert Stockham

Love the food here. The environment is a bit loud for a group (there were 8 of us), but the food was super tasty and well worth the visit.

Chris Salzer

Tried the sliders, the chorizo tacos, and a few brews. Very good.

Jennifer Pearce

One of my favorite spots in Cleveland. The beer selection is great and the cocktails are good. Chicken wings are spicy and delicious. Potatoes are my favorite and also spicy. Love the corn dog and peirogi flat bread. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend to anyone looking for a laid back vibe downtown with good food and plenty of drink choices.

Shannon Gorrill

Excellent sandwiches! I had the Ruben, hubby had the smoked brisket..omg so good! They make their own pickles and were delicious! Also their homemade chips yum! Great beer and good wine selection at lunch. Full bar available for dinner. A must try!

Remco Verhezen

The Butcher and the Brewer offers lovely food. Their sharing concept is a great way to discover new dishes and flavours. The interior is really nice, especially 5 ⭐️’s for the toilet! One thing that could be better is the accoustics. When it’s busy it’s really noisy and difficult to have a conversation.

Debbie Gregory

Good food, beer, and service! Definitely will return.

Theresa Green

Really nice place. Sit outside and people-watch!

Tom Avery

Pork shank was delicious...beer good too. Glad I sampled the Feeling Dangerous IPA.

Jennifer Viscomi

Just stopped in for drinks but all the food I saw and smelled definitely will have me back. Plus the dirty martini was on point.

Oliver Howze

came for a birthday party and had the best server Mark. he deserves the world. should be able to run the restaurant and the country.

Pablo Bravo

Huge spot. Downstairs has cool brewery setup. Wide variety of beer. They brew a oilsner that's a bit dark but tasted well. Priced well. They own butcher shop and the cured meat and cheese was fantastic

JB Bates

I had the crispy pork shank and the Imperial Albino (pictured), and both were incredible. Highly recommend!

JD Schroeder

Really cool place. The way they serve everything kind of mini-family style is different, and definitely encourages your group to share food. This also can cause you to order more than you normally would so be aware of that. The atmosphere is really cool as well, and the bathrooms weren't something I've seen before. (in a good way!)

Worst corn dogs i have ever had. The waitress was nice and did amazing just really terrible corn dogs like 3 mini dogs for 10$ and they were not as good as ones from the giant eagle freezer section.

This place has good food and beer but they need to put baffles on the ceiling to keep the noise down. It is too loud in the place just a thought.

Great Beer Now

When you’re in downtown Cleveland, you don’t have to look too far to find something to do. I found myself in search of a place to eat and drink one evening when I was here, touring the area’s beer scene and desiring something within walking distance of my downtown hotel. I wanted a place that brews beer and my search quickly led me to the Butcher and the Brewer. Butcher and the Brewer got its name from the fact that it is both a brewpub and a functioning deli. Walk in the front door and you will see the restaurant and brewpub straight ahead and the deli to your left. This is a unique feature and when I think back to the hundreds of different breweries I have visited over the years, this is the only one I know of that has a setup as unique as this. The atmosphere at Butcher and the Brewer features a dimly lit interior and mostly communal type seating. It is also quite loud inside here, so this may not be the best choice of restaurants to visit if you’re looking for a place to spend a quiet evening. They have about 5 televisions broadcasting sports, for the most part, so you expect a rowdy crowd if you visit when Cleveland’s sports teams are playing a game that is broadcast on television. With the food, Butcher and the Brewer has several shareable plate options and as you might guess, the emphasis is mostly on meat, with several entrees and appetizers that feature beef, pork, chicken, lamb, etc. They serve several seafood options, too. One pleasant surprise is that, in spite of the emphasis on meat, they do happen to serve a good number of vegetarian options. There is something to suit most everyone in the area of food. And with the beer, they have about a dozen of their own beers on tap and the lineup is solid and consistent all- around. I liked every beer I tried and I rated them all very similar in overall quality. Butcher and the Brewer is a nice stopover for food and beer and I recommend walking the few steps to the adjacent room and checking out the deli before you leave. I was heading back to my hotel when I was here, so there was no practical need to purchase meat to go, but I still walked over anyway, out of curiosity. The addition of a deli to the restaurant and brewpub makes Butcher and the Brewer one of a kind and a place you should definitely try to visit the next time you’re in downtown Cleveland.

First time going here. Friend and I split there pretzels, the buffalo wings, sliders, and a few beers. We didn't really have high expectations going there, but this was there best meal I've had in a long time love as I can remember. The pretzels we're perfectly cooked; the beer cheese was great, but the garlic Carmel sauce was amazing. It didn't sound like it would work but it absolutely did. The wings were perfectly smoked and the buffalo seasoning was surprisingly good. The best part was the sliders. I took one bitei was actually a bit taken aback at how good they tasted. It may be a super, but it was probably the best burger I've ever had.

Love this place. My husband and I really enjoy coming here. The food and beer are great. I normally get the Bacon and Eggs, my husband normally gets the Crispy pork shank. The bacon and eggs has the best pork belly. It is so tender. It's a fantastic meal. The pork shank is also very good. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The servers are friendly and helpful. The seating is family style (so you might be getting cozy with strangers). We find this enjoyable to meet new people. Their beers are good. They have a pretty good range of different types. I really enjoy their albino stout and their IPAs. The bathroom is interesting... I had to mention that, because it's funny/weird.
