This Restaurant corresponds to the category of South American restaurant.
Service and food were great! I had never been to this location before - it was roomy, full of atmosphere, and had easy street parking not too far from the Palace. My steak skewers and the crab cakes were delectable and very reasonably priced. The cilantro sauce is always the main event though - it is out of this world. Make sure to buy some of the yummy cilantro sauce to take home - they sell it in bottles!
First time trying Arepazo, it was fantastic. Loved the look of the restaurant and the service was great. My husband and I both had the Cuban and it was excellent. They serve it with their famous cilantro sauce for dipping and I almost bought some to go! We will definitely be back try more stuff!
We visited this Arepazo location after a dinner party across the street and couldn't have been happier with the service. The servers and bartenders were wonderful. It was a busy Friday night and they handled it with ease and made sure we had everything we needed. The name is escaping me, but the smoky rimmed margarita was phenomenal (picture included courtesy of Google image search - couldn't find the bar menu on the website but this is THE drink!). The other cocktails we tried were all poured just right. I wouldn't hesitate to go back and try their food, every dish that walked by looked pretty tasty!
As always, delicious. Their empanadas are to die for. So are their fried plantains. There really isn't anything on the menu that isn't delicious. The staff is also wonderful, very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!
There is no customer service. The hostess basically told me I didn’t have to come back. This was after she butted into my conversation. I have been there a few times. The last time was bad too. I never have any issues at the Gahanna location. So my review Is just for this location. I won’t be coming back.
Awsome food
The service was great, food is great, atmosphere is nice.
The server was quick and polite. The food was fast and Amazing! Steak perfectly cooked. Everything was fantastic and will definitely recommend
This was the best Peruvian food I have EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR had !!!
Always fabulous food, great service and easy access!!
We were very excited about this place, based on the reviews and food look delicious, until my niece found a long hair stuck on one of the arepas. She had to pull it to get it out. We notified the waiter and the only thing he said was sorry. They didn't offer any discount. We all stopped eating our food after that. We still left him a good tip. Hopefully that tells him something. We won't be going back to this place.
I was amazed with this Venezuelan restaurant, excellent food, great service, super friendly staff, nice environment, good for big groups or just for couples. Full bar, great music.
Awsome food n great service. Best happy hour selection
Very tasty and delicious, our waitress was terrific and went above and beyond to give us wonderful service.
Service and food were great! I had never been to this location before - it was roomy, full of atmosphere, and had easy street parking not too far from the Palace. My steak skewers and the crab cakes were delectable and very reasonably priced. The cilantro sauce is always the main event though - it is out of this world. Ambience okay. Customer service great. Food even better. Not too crowded, not to much lighting.... and very, very pleasant staff
One of my favorite lunch spots. It's rarely crowded, friendly service, and amazing food.
Great food, will be back for drinks.
Nice place
Pretty solid food, good portions for the price.
Great service. Middling food. Will probably go back.
So disappointed about this place. I went there once about a month or so ago, the food was mediocre, nothing out of the ordinary and the arepa was dry. I went there a second time and the food was even worse. The waitress' response when I complained about the plantain being very dry, stringy, and just starchy? "we cannot control when the plantain is ripe enough for us to cook". Really? So if you have green avocados are you gonna try to make guacamole with them? Just take the item off the menu for the evening. The beef that came with the plantain was alright but the salsa that accompanied the entree tasted like it had been made a day or two prior, not in the least fresh. This place had amazing arepas when they first started on that alley across from the capitol building. What in the world happened? Way too many authentic (and better) places in Columbus to continue going here.
Fun environment. Drinks are refreshing, the food portions are generous.
Empanadas and their cilantro sauce is killer good
Everything that I've tried here is delicious the cocktails the ceviche the patacon... Always friendly service too
I tried some new foods here and they were awesome I loved the food and the people working there I had a great experience
Really good alternative to Mexican food.
I forgot how tasty this place is, service is amazing and drinks were delicious.
Food was GREAT! Really good serving size and the flavor was AMAZING. Cant wait to visit again
Wow. Best food you will ever have ....phenomenal doesn't even Express it try the pork belly omg
Not for families..... We ordered the chicken and tilapia patacon. It was delicious. We also ordered two kids meals: a cheese quesadilla with white rice and steak and fries. The kids meal prices were not listed. When the bill came, I was shocked to find that they were $10 for a kids meal. Mine was only $13. Had I known, I would have ordered the kids food from the adult menu for better quality. Comparable and nicer restaurants don't charge that. It's kind of highway robbery. What bothered me most was the manager's response who tried to justify the cost and didn't offer any apology. Message was well received that children are not welcome at this establishment. Such a shame because the adult food is really good.
I’m adding to the Columbus review but I normally goto the Gahanna restaurant. This not Mexican food but considered South American food so don’t go in expecting the normal tacos, burritos and quesadillas. The staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable and the food is excellent. I’ve traveled to various countries in South America and coming to Arepazo is much more convenient and same quality of food. I usually get the pork tostadas or the fish tacos or the carne asada. When getting the tostada I ask for the hot sauce and usually get an extra one because it’s an amazing hot sauce. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the empanadas but many like them and it’s one of the hot sellers.
This was our first time at the downtown location. It was really good. The staff was helpful and very nice.
Food was great but the waitress should be more attentive to the guest that are sitting outside on the patio
I love this restaurant!
One of the best restaurants! Patacon is my favorite here, which goes well with both chicken and tilapia. Big Mexican is a good option too. I recommend this place!
The staff is excellent. The level of hospitality makes me feel as if I'm on a vacation in the southwest Florida region. Food alone could have this restaurant at the top of the charts as one of the best places to dine in. I'll be back repeatedly. I recommend the shrimp cevicha or the steak skewers. The seasoning makes your taste buds explode.
The food is unbelievable
What little parking there is, is street parking, FYI. This place has excellent food! Great Tapas, excellent drinks, and the entree's are amazing! Pay attention to the bill, especially if in a group, as there is a 20% automatic gratuity.
Truly a unique restaurant with excellent food. It’ll be hard to go elsewhere when in the area. The atmosphere was awesome and would make for a great outing with friends or family. The staff was knowledgeable and super friendly. The cilantro sauce was so delicious we had to take some home!
Best food ever.
Arepazo has awesome Latin foods from various regions. Tequeños are really tasty. Arepas are inexpensive and filling. Dance class on Tuesdays. Really cool vibes.
Amazing food. One of the best restaurants in Columbus!
I was in Columbus for a work trip and wanted a taste of home. I stopped here based off the reviews and so glad that i did. I had the Pabellon Criollo and the beef was seasoned perfectly; juicy and full of flavor. If you're looking to explore Central/South American cuisine in the area, stop by because they will not disappoint.
Really great service and an interesting menu that I look forward to exploring! This time, I tried the Arepazo Classic Arepa which was good, and the pork that came on it was wonderful. Want to head back and try the Cuban sandwich my coworker ate. Looked awesome!
Interesting entrées. Ceviche and pork on corn cake was good! Service could have been a little more attentive! I'd go again to check out other menu items.
Some of my favorite food, period.
Great place to have latin food, you will find good options for vegetarians as well! You should definitely go if you like Plantain chips:)
I was with the Sierra Club walking group, and they were kind enough to extend their happy hour for us when we arrived there late after our hour stroll through the German Village/Brewery District area. As is usual, the service was great and the food was delicious.
So good! Great atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
Been here for a dance socal event. Didn't really eat the food but staff was really friendly. Nice atmosphere.
Great very generous portionsw but the empanadas wasn't venezolanas were Colombia style
I always love it here. The patacon is delicious, the platanos fritos and the guac is spot on. I adore the carne picada - medium rare steak, chorizo, carnita. Its amazing. Lots to look at and so much fun when the salsa dancing is there. I have been to the other locations - but the one on S. High Downtown is by far superior.
Excellent food and service!! Only thing that could be better is atmosphere and cleanliness.
The food never disappoints and service is extremely prompt! Tostones + guac is a favorite treat you can't get most other places in town. I'd say stick with sangria over cocktails.
The staff was knowledgeable and super friendly.
Delicious food, the big mexican is a must!
This is just a fun place! My wife and I came here for a late dinner and the place was full of people dancing on the dance floor and the Latin music was loud, the atmosphere festive! We got seated right away since most were there to drink and dance. The food was simple comfort food but very good, but I do love South American food. Be warned! The proportions are generous.
Excellent food and great atmosphere
Definitely coming back. So delicious, great service and dog friendly!
Wonderfull people and great place to meet family or friends for a delicious meal and drinks.
Good service. Good food. Nice atmosphere. Not really my type of food
The staff is always so nice. The food is amazing! And they have great music and dancing on Tuesdays, with instructions!!
Great food, good people and they deliver through doordash:)
This is the only place I've seen that serves Lomo Saltado and it was delicious. I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.
Best empanadas ever, also amazing spicy cilantro sauce.
Good food, and friendly service
good food at good prices.
Owned by a Venezuelan and Colombian couple. Great food. Felt like it was from home. Passion fruit juice felt just made, the arepas are really good. And the tequeños are the best, but that's just me and my personal opinion. The fried plantain could be better but that must be how mature they were, it happens in my house a lot.
Cold food, ear-splitting loud music
Stunningly delicious food, the sauce sets it off. Absolutely must have the arepas when in Columbus. Classic with chicken is hard to beat.
Without letting costumers know this restaurant automatically charges 20% for service. With all the different restaurant options for Latino American food in Columbus I definitely don't recommend El Arepazo. No other Latino American restaurant have this charge.
Fun place for groups and large families. If you are not familiar with this Latin cuisine, you need to be adventurous. I basically had no idea what to order. So, i told the waiter to choose for me! The waiter chose Peruvian Lomo Saltado. A kind of steak stew over rice with plantains. It was wonderful! Great service and price point. Just one block over from Shadowbox Live on High Street.
My new favorite restaurant!!!!! Great Colombo-venezuelan food!
No wait, pretty fast service and food was great. Save room for dessert!
Good place to chill. The food a bit on the $$ side but great taste
A really cool place to enjoy Columbian food. The service was outstanding. The food prepared to perfection. Outdoor seating added to the ambience of the evening. Definitely will return.
Great food at a really reasonably low price for eating downtown.
Do not really know where to begin with this one... The salmon ceviche was absolutely delicious, the carne asada was perfectly done, the chimichurri is unique, and the cilantro sauce was amazing! All this with a very nice ambiance and great service definitely makes for a place to visit again.
Love the patacon with shredded chicken, fried plantain and cilantro sauce. Gave 4 stars because I'm a little disappointed by how much the price has gone up. A great new building (the old bw3) with plenty of room.
Absolutely cannot say enough good things about this place. I love love love it here. Their cilantro sauce is amazing, they even sell it in large bottles that you can take home with you. I get the avocado bean salad with steak (not sure what they season the steak with but it's really tasty and tender). My sister got an empanada and it was huge! But still just as delicious. If you want to try Latin food but something different from Mexican this is the place to go.
The food is great! The patacon is amazeballs! I get mine with fish. The main reason they didn't get give starts was because the bathroom was terrible. Of four stalls, only one was available to use. All were out of order, our taped closed.
Be sure to try the Tres Leches dessert
Had a couple of delicious Tapas dishes and a decent margarita. I'll be back to try some more.
Great food, service, and atmotphere
I will come back here again. It was my first time, and the staff was very helpful. Good price for the quality of food
Amazing food! You have to buy a bottle of the cilantro sauce, it makes everything taste incredible!!
This restaurant was amazing! Authentic South American food. Great atmosphere and server
Empanadas are super thick and full of cooking oil!!!! That's not an empanada. That's a giant ball of cheese w empanada dough fried and then shaped like it, and I was only able to take a few bites! And yes I was sick.
My favorite restaurant in Columbus. Get the patacon or bande paisa.
What a great venue
Great dinner tonight! Everyone enjoyed their food very much! The cilantro sauce was delicious. My Big Mexican was delicious. The Spanish Potato Fries (seasoned french fries) we perfect.
I love the Peruvian Lomo Saltado. Thats the only item I buy lol. I will definitely remain a repeat customer!!!!
The chicken patachon is the go to item. No pic..Sorry,.. just dove into eating with a "caprahinia?" Cachaca and lime/simple syrup cocktail.
Good food and place
Love this place!! Everything from drinks to desserts was just amazing! Will definitely be back!
Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Definitely try the Bandeja Paisa...
Awesome arepa and ahhhmazing yucca! Delish!
Venezuelan restaurant and has diverse Latin American dishes in the menu. Ordered a Salmon Ceviche tapa, pork arepa and 3 milk cake. Ceviche was the best! Has the flavor of what I call a home made one. Arepas and dessert were also great choices. Waiter was helpful and kind. I’ll come back definitely.
Great food, generous portions, and dancing on Tuesday nights
Fresh, flavorful, Latin-American fare!
Food was alright, but dessert was delicious! Get the Tres Leches! We also loved that they had live music that night
Such great flavorful South American food. Great prices and service also.
It's good, the portions definitely aren't South American enough
This is a pretty laid back place, right in the heart of Dogpatch. I enjoyed my tacos -- carnitas, carne asada and chorizo. Chips and salsa obviously home made - delicious. Classy decor, nice people and good food.
This food was amazing!
Great food and service Parking can be expensive
The food is wonderful, the drinks are strong and the ambiance is quiet and authentic. Unfortunately the service was underwhelming. We never received one of our appetizers and 2 of our sides. Our server never checked on or us or what we needed so we couldn't even inform them of the missing food. I still give 3 stars because when we did find someone to inform them of the inconvenience, they did discount our bill which was very kind. I'd still give the restuarant a second chance.
Nice concept, beautiful place, great place to taste Latin American food with an excellent service
Fantastic food and ambiance!
Pleasantly surprised by this place. The steak dish I had was one of the best I've had in Columbus.
Amazing food, amazing service! Shout out to the super bubbly lovely latina lady who served us, she's an angel!! The pinchos are a MUST
Cilantro sauce, spicy or mild is the Best! I like a shredded beef/Patacon dish --delicioso!
Best food I've had in Ohio period. Everything was perfectly seasoned. They also have this spicy cilantro sauce.....its life. I think they sell it. I only ate here once. I live in Cincinnati, but when i go back to Columbus I will make sure I stop back in.
This place is amazing - a true gem in a city that sadly lacks independent restaurants. I highly recommend everything on the menu. The salmon ceviche is out of this world. Try it with a Pisco Sour
Found a giant bug crawling out of my taco.
I've been a customer and supporter of Arepazo for years. There is nothing I've tried that I would not try again. The food is delicious, presented beautifully and true to their Venezuelan roots. My favorite is the Patacon. I can never go there without a side order of Chicharron with their spicy cilantro sauce, mmmmmm! The o ly thing that sauce doesn't go on is dessert!
Great food and great service. Never had a bad meal
Service was ok, food was good, but found meat in my vegetarian burrito
The food (Colombian/South American) is delicious, the dishes are well-sized and the atmosphere is charming. The staff is really friendly and nice most of the time. If you go during the week after 5.30pm you can park for free in the lot in the back of the building, which is super convenient. Furthermore, they have salsa lessons on Tuesdays, so it's a good place to go to learn and practice a bit! Only downside is that the prices of the food are expensive for the type of food that you get and if you are in a group of five or bigger, you'll automatically get charged 20% gratuity in your check. I'll definitely go back, but not too much.
Great food great atmosphere different variety of Spanish food
Ive never seen any place that charges $4.00 for four pieces of fried plantains, as a latino business you should be ashamed. I wish i could send a picture. Smh
Amazing food for very reasonable prices! It's like I was eating back home :')
Good food....good service
Food was ok. Vibe was ok.
Was there a few years back. Went back last night, it look different, however, the food still the same. Delicious.. and the cilantro sauce is amazing.
Columbus would not be thought of having diverse food options, however Arepazo is a place that makes you forget you are in Columbus. Come in for the food, and stay for the dancing. Come in with friends to enjoy the experience that is Arepazo. Seriously. Brewery District was THE place to be before the Short North gained in prominence, but as the city grows, pockets of uniqueness are springing up, and Arepazo is one of them!
Amazing. If you want a mini Havana, Guatepeque, or Cancún, come here. Food is amazing, the drinks are on the great and the happy hour is really good. The dance floor and music are my favorite part. If you haven't checked it out, its worth the visit. If you like that sorta thing this is the one of the best places in Columbus for Latin food and feels.
Super fresh
Dancing is great, food is good, drinks are not good. It isn't the bartender's fault on this though. The mixes are just not good! You're a Mexican joint, make real margaritas with real lime and tequila! No mixes. It pisses me off that it is not the case. Juice the limes ahead of time and I'd be willing to pay more for it.
Top of the line food! Very authentic and very good service. Latin dancing on tuesday nights!
Foods good as well as the service. Can be a bit expensive though.
Amazing food....picture is Patacon
Delicious South American cuisine. We enjoyed tostones (fried plantains), chilaquiles, and two different arepas, all excellent! Can't wait to come back!
Low key and comfortable, but with a solid happy hour. Nice staff and delicious food. I was tired of being directed to Condado's every time I came to town -- this is so much more delicious!
Food was very good. Service was not. I didn't even have the chance to ask for a refill on my water let alone be offered. Also waited a solid 25 minutes for the check.
Really great food. Place was dead when I was there. Great for quiet conversation. Can't wait to go back!
Service is fantastic and food is delicious! Always enjoy Arepazo!!
Best place ever food amazing service on point carlos runs one of the cleanest kicthens in town
Customer service is hit or miss but when it’s miss, it’s AWFUL. I will not be returning for sit down or to go. I placed an online order for the downtown location through DoorDash and it went to Gahanna instead. When I arrived to pick it up with my friend’s order, the hostess accused me of being my friend even though I showed her the app. My friend came in and after 10+ min, the hostess was provided no solution to the problem. The manager offered to cancel the Gahanna order and make it there, as she should’ve 10 ago. While chatting about this with my friend, the hostess butts in with her opinion in a condescending tone, calls us rude, and makes sure that we know “then don’t come back then.” Ive been a patron for years. But don’t worry; I won’t.
