I had such a great experience at 1808! We had a party of 8 people and our waitress did a great job of handling some special requests. The food was served in a reasonable amount of time and was delicious. My water glass was kept pretty full the whole meal, and that makes a big difference for me. I highly recommend beets 4 ways- I hadn't tried something like that before and it was amazing. 1808 is totally worth trying.

Great place in Delaware. The food is a great twist of some American classics. Their beer list is really extensive and a fantastic selection, which is a big plus. The chicken and noodles were popular in our party and everybody who had them loved them. When we walked in they had a three piece ensemble playing some music, which gave the place a good aura. Would definitely go back when in the Delaware area again.

Steak was charded and not seasoned- service wasn't that great-seemed like he was unpleased to be there and we went without drinks for a while. We were super excited to go but not impressed and likely wouldn't go back sadly

This is really boring food, nothing really exciting about the menu just regular meat and potatoes that's overpriced because the people running it are way too young and don't know what they're really doing. They try, but to be honest it's really boring and bland food. If you go anywhere else in downtown Delaware you'll find some extremely exciting menu items of new American Cuisine that's really impressive for our small town. 1808 thinks that the people of Delaware are not sophisticated enough for more complicated menu items that this is a very simple meat-and-potatoes town which is what I was told by the managers. When you talk to a lot of the staff and management they don't even live in Delaware, so who are they to say what we are and what we like and to dumb us down because you think you're a fine dining restaurant! This place is a joke! Boycott this turd and support the rest of the downtown Delaware restaurant scene.

1808 is a perfect place for a date. It is on the expensive side but you get what you pay for. I have never had a meal there that wasn't high quality. The chefs know what they're doing. I would highly recommend if you have the pocket.

Lots of good options in entrees. My favorites are the salmon, filet medallions, & chicken with noodles. The house salad is also divine, as is the whiskey bread pudding for dessert. My husband cannot go without the whiskey bread pudding. Last time we visited got to sit at the bar and chat with Abby, super friendly & fun bartender. Heard they’re almost finished with the upstairs venue- wonder if they’ll be offering any cooking classes? Could be fun!

Our group of 10 really enjoyed this upscale restaurant in the middle of a tiny town in Ohio! The chef obviously puts a lot of creativity and love into their menu. I ordered the beets 4 ways simply out of curiosity, but it totally paid off. It was delicious and such a change from the usual salad. I also ordered the fried chicken with "properly prepared potato salad" because I was curious what that even means. Truth be known, I dislike potato salad and this rendition didnt change my mind, but the chicken was excellent and such a huge portion I had enough for lunch the next day (it was delicious cold, no soggy breading!) Our table ordered one each of the desserts. Of those, the bread pudding was probably my favorite. I like my beignets with a little more substance, these were like pillow puffs. All in all a great little find with excellent service and ambiance.

Well tonight we arrived got seated, requested not to be seated at a booth, multiple open tables, hostess seemed like that was a problem, after waiting in dining room standing she returned and offered a table. We say other patrons came into dining room, were offered drinks, were served drinks, we continued to be ignored. We got up and left. Previous experiences on Thursday nights and Saturdays have been wonderful. Tonight, 1808 fell short.

A few weeks ago my wife and I went to 1808 for dinner. It was crowded like a typical Friday night. So, we sat at the bar. It was before long that we met our waitress, Abby. She is one of the best waitress we have had in a while. She was up beat and possitive the whole time we were there. My wife an I have always like this restaurant but the service this time was over the top. Actually I had written another review about the place and only 1808 a 4 star rating. This time, because of Abby, I am changing it to a 5 star. You will always get great food at 1808 but get Abby if you want great service too!

Stopped in on a Saturday night with my wife and we were seated very kindly and greeted well. Our waiter was Liam and he was terrific and very friendly, he had the answers to any questions we had about the food or drinks, he made sure we were good on drinks and always had our water filled and made sure we liked our food. Outstanding server! I got the shrimp ‘n grits and my wife got the squash risotto and it was a delicious meal! Highly recommend this bistro, calming, delicious and has an outstanding staff.

I’ve been here a few times and had a fantastic experience both times. I requested seating away from the music due to hearing difficulties and they were accommodating. The cocktails were delicious and a good strength, the salmon dip was phenomenal, and their brunch offerings are filling and satisfying. Will definitely be back when we’re in the area!

This place is pretty upscale for Delaware. The ambience was very nice and there was live music. We ordered some bread before dinner and it was a nice fresh baguette, but ruined by a heavy coating on the outside of oil and spices. My husband had steak medallions which he enjoyed, but they were served with super rich mashed potatoes, which made the meal too heavy. I had a brisket sandwich which was pretty good. Decent food, but a bit rich for our taste.

Wait for food was long, but worth the wait. Price was too high for the quantity of food. Skip the drinks, go with water and a cocktail at home before you get there. Wait staff was nice, friendly and helpful. Just what you like. Seating spacing is good. Lower the price and this place is aces...

Bring some friends and order a few drinks during happy hour and you won't notice the service is a little slow! Variety of choices on the menu, including local specials. Substitutions on some menu items may increase or decrease the listed price of your meal. Price is comparable to most sit-down restaurants. Good quality and quantity of food. Very nice atmosphere. Highly recommend!

We have visited 1808 a few times in the last couple of years. When we're near Delaware it's one of our favorite spots. The food is always been very good the servers always pleasant and they never leave you waiting.

First time in and we'll definitely go back. Started with the roasted cauliflower - absolutely delicious. The server, who gave us the perfect amount of attention, recommended the shrimp and grits since the chef is from New Orleans. She was spot on. We also had the beets 5 ways and the carpaccio, both were outstanding. The atmosphere is a little loud but that seems to be the norm with how many restaurants are now laid out. Very happy with our celebratory restaurant choice.

We heard about this restaurant from one of my wife's friends and we had it on our list of places to try. It was a little out of the way since it's 20 miles from Columbus, but it was definitely worth the drive. The restaurant is in downtown Delaware, OH and easy to spot. The place is clean and friendly and full of guests when we arrived on a Saturday night. Very glad we had reservations. Our server was friendly and attentive. She took our drink orders and told us the specials right away. Everything was delicious but it did take longer than usual, as we were told by the server, for our food to come. The portions were generous and delicious. The desert menu was short but amazing. My son and i shared the bread pudding and that was.... fantastic! It worth the scenic drive to get there.

The 1808 American Bistro is always great! The house salad with raspberry vinaigrette is really good. I highly recommend the lasagna or steak. You can never go wrong with one of their steaks. They always cook it to perfection. The servers are friendly and always helpful. The atmosphere is casual elegance. You can wear a suit or jeans, either way you will fit in. 1808 is consistently great and I recommend to others. You won't be disappointed!

What a delightful establishment! Great atmosphere and service. We started with the bread service. Very tasty and makes a nice appetizer for 3-4 people to share. All of us enjoyed our meal. As a South Carolinian, I was a tad skeptical about Shrimp & Grits but was reassured that it was good, so I ordered it. I will confirm its excellence. Commendations to the chef. We will return.

Seriously some of the best service I've had a a restaurant, ever. The server was also our bartender and he was so skilled at making exactly what we asked for. I ordered a cocktail and didn't tell him if I wanted it straight or on the rocks so he brought it to me straight and brought a rocks glass with ice in in, in case that's what I wanted. The food tasted great but the service was really exceptional. We got two salads and an appetizer and they were on time and delicious.

Right in the heart of downtown Delaware is this American bistro. The vibe gives off a semi upscale ambiance but leans more towards a casual, low-key experience. I came into this restaurant with high hopes as the reviews and word of mouth would lead me to believe so. Honestly, I was just whelmed. The service was sub-par, the food was under seasoned, and the menu had it's run of the mill options with a higher price tag attached compared to other restaurants of it's type. Would I suggest you go there? Sure, but don't expect to be blown away by the food.

The best place in Delaware Oh for fine dining, upper scale creole cooking. The dessert list you have to eat!!!! So much to choose from, the filet is tender with rich robust flavor. Along with the firm and crisp vegetables they sautee perfectly. Excellent craft beer and wine selections. Service is top notch, excellent for anniversaries and celebrations.

I love this place, I was disappointed that it was only brunch on sunday but I still loved what I got. The fries here are amazing and my partner and I ordered the burgers with eggs, the food was very good, the envirnment is also very nice, they have very interesting decor. I will be coming back for lunch some day and then I'll be able to give a better idea at what this place is about but what I can say is while you can be satisfied in the food, sadly they do not have lemonade. Sill a fantastic place and I'll be by again.

The calamari was over powered by multiple competing flavors the goat cheese was a little to much with its texture offsetting the crunchiness of the calamari with it being mixed together there was no way to separate it. I ordered the potato soup...how can you mess up potato soup? Well over boiling potatoes is one way followed by little or no cream it was not smooth and it just didn't taste good. For the entree I ordered theT-bone medium rare, parts of it were medium rare close to the bone however a good amount of or was way over cooked, best guess the steak was not cut correctly leaving the center thicker and the outer parts thinner which lead to the over cooking. The mushrooms and onions on top were ok no complaints there and the steak was tender but there wasn't any actual seasoning on the steak itself it was just cooked and then covered by the mushroom mixture. For the dessert I chose the beignets- Highly disappointed. PUFF PASTRY Beignets are not a thing EVER. I lived in Louisiana for almost a decade and to advertise New Orleans beignets is just wrong on so many levels. Who wants to bite into deep fried deception? My girlfriend had the wedge salad which she enjoyed along with Salmon that was over salted and just seemed like a very small portion but she did like the asparagus. For dessert she had the creme brulee I tasted it, it was just average. Overall I won't be back, I had high hopes and had heard some good things but unfortunately it just didn't live up to expectations. The beignets were 1 star worth all by themselves. hopefully you all will some changes

This was our first time visiting 1808. The lighting was subdued and perfect. There was so much room between the tables. The menu was smaller than I would have preferred. The food was great. I got house made mushroom soup and it was divine. We got the half chicken with rice and cilantro with curry sauce. Not spicy but great flavor. The drinks were very good. It is our birthday so we got a free dessert, bread pudding was to die for. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Here’s the thing about 1808... the decor is nice, the service is friendly and efficient, and you can tell they use high quality ingredients, but to date, I have yet to find an exceptional dish. It’s been good, but nothing stands out as a must-have, like many of the other restaurants in the area.

Took the wife here Saturday evening. Food was great. Wait wasn't too terribly long. Atmosphere was pretty nice. Other than the white-wine sipping, 50-going-on-18-year-old, potty-mouth stuffed into skinny jeans and sitting at the next table, regaling her aging cadre of friends with stories about Dylan's exploits on the high school basketball team I have no real complaints worth mentioning.

Such a great atmosphere! Amazing service and the bar tenders are on top of it ALWAYS! Live music and a great happy hour during the week! Go to place for a drink and some good food!

This was our first visit. We ordered a wedge salad with the steak dinner. Although the wedge was very good it was more than we could eat with our dinner. Our server Candace was very helpful and friendly. The food was delicious! We will definitely be back.

We visited 1808 last night (Friday) for the first time. For the past four years we have lived in the area, and have heard nothing but great things. Our experience did not align with that feedback. Here is a summation of the experience: 1) Only warm water offered at the table 2) Restrooms are in disrepair - imagine any college bar bathroom 3) Server did not have access to wine we ordered and no substitution offered 4) Food was above average in quality, but no salt/pepper or condiments of any kind were available to season to taste. 5) Acoustics were horrible and having a dinner conversation was nearly impossible. 6) Service in general was poor, from the hostess to the server, there was no sense of professionalism for the experience we were charged for. Overall, it felt like this was once a place who worked hard to achieve a premium name and experience in the area, and now is resting on those laurels. We will definitely look for another place to frequent with our friends and coworkers.

Filet medallions are always my go to dish. I have the special Aged NY Strip and it was marvelous. It was tender and juicy. The beer selection is always changing and is very plentiful.

The atmosphere is great and the service is fast and friendly. The short ribs were quite tasty, but the lamb shank was all fat. The bread knife they supplied was not up to the task of slicing the bread and our bread was crushed by the time we got a slice off. Our waiter was nice, but he hovered by our table and waited for us. I realize that a good waiter has to be aware of his customers' needs, but our waiter stood next to the table for a minute until he could get between our conversation. We spent around $80 for two of us with two dinners, one salad, one dessert, bread service, and one beer. Even with the $3 added price for bread, this was still less expensive than similar upscale restaurants we have visited in Columbus.

This has been our go to for years. Now.... no Miller lite. No bud lite. The smoked chicken Thai salad was the worst salad Ive ever had. Menu selection is pedestrian. Will not be returning anytime soon.

The food was really good, and lots of options too. A little pricey, but it's more of an upscale place to eat so that is to be expected.
