As you know, we don't usually bother to put scores when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of Chinese restaurant.
The service could be better. I go in to eat there quite a bit and the waitresses stand in a corner. They talk or pay attention to there phone. Not when someone needs something. I have to ask for a refill, when my glass is empty. Every time.
Tried this place out a little over a year ago. Since rumors had it that there was a change in management, we decided to give this place another go. Worst mistake.. the food has been sitting out for awhile, tasted old, just nasty!!! How can this place charge $14 per person for this kind of quality?! Even the fortune cookies were old!!! By far has been the worst buffet I’ve ever been to. I had such a bad stomach ache after eating here that pepto Bismol and the toilet were my best friends. If I can give this place negative 5 stars, I would. Steer clear of this place!
Good selection of food. It was hot and fresh, they also keep the items full. The price was decent maybe a little high but not bad.
This place was our favorite to eat. Now the new management has taken place, the food isn't as good as it used to be. Wontons were overcooked, fried rice didn't look like fried rice, and the spring rolls are not great like they used to be. Sweet and sour chicken could have used a little more cook time and pepper steak had no spice or flavor. You guys did great at cleaning up the place, but the quality of your food is not there. Something has gotta improve here because this again was our favorite place. Might have to find another chinese food eatery and that's plenty tough considering there ain't much here in town.
They have had new ownership from the beginning of this year. They changed the setup to be more open and can be considered as a family place. Added a Sushi station to their arrangement and hiked their price. Food is good (not the best chinese buffet in town as they used to). They are serving until 10 pm these days. They are missing tags on the food item name all the time, but luckily you will always find someone around to ask about the food and their ingredients if you are curious.
Not as good since changes.
I go at least once a month. I’m chubby.
The food was fresh, and the taste isn't bad for the price!
Great selection of food. Looks great after being remodeled.
Normally this is my go to place for Chinese food. Normally I dine in or get buffet to go. However I called in an order the other night, waited 15 min then headed out to pick up my order. Upon arrival a man was leaving with a pick up order and angrily muttering under his breath. 30 seconds later I understood why. When I asked about my order...they couldn't find it. So I stood there while 2 of the employees looked confused. So while I waited another 20 min with a lady who also had been there 20 plus min waiting for her order. I asked for a follow up call with a manager....nothing 4 days later. Thanks Giant Panda.
They are under new management and have made great changes to the buffet.
First the good, the remodel looks good and it looks cleaner inside. Now onto the many bads. They removed self serve soda machine so now you have to wait for the waiter or waitress to get around to it. The food is always cold. They raised the price with no quality improvement in the food, if anything quality went down. Needless to say this is no longer my favorite Chinese place.
Great buffet even at late hours. We went there after 9:00 PM and the food was still fresh and continued to be brought out.
Not enough selection of food.
It's a nice place
Decent food nothing special
Small portion and high prices for what you get. Customer Service was lacking. Quality of food was lacking as well.
Great food fair prices nice staff best place to eat
Food is great but the floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a long time. You can see a path from the buffet to the tables.
Good Place To Eat
Gets the job done. Tasty wontons and salmon.
Great place for lunch. Always the standard favorites & a couple less encountered entrees which have become favorites. Truly something for everyone.
It wasn't that bad. Just needed to place food out more quickly and to pick up empty plates faster but I loved the food though :)
some food was okay others tasted old like they just heated up. some food was mushy, noodles were spaghetti noodles not the actual noodles... crab les were like dry hard on inside like deepfryed to long. the bathroom toilets were broke a guy flushing them with a bucket, as other one went up when you flushed it, me and another lady couldnt use sink had to use disinfectant wipes, floors looked really dirty, pop machine was out had to grab only 1 small can pop. i wont be coming back here. sorry years ago i came it was awesome but not this round
I do enjoy Chinese buffets in general, and have been to all of them in Fargo. I have always liked this place. Like every buffet, you want to go there when they are a bit busier on purpose, and the food stay fresh. Good selection, self service. Decent prices, a bit cheaper than some of the other buffets.
It is a nice buffet and they let you order off the menu also a very nice place
On Friday April 12th, 2019, I ordered a #6 plate, fried wontons and chicken lo mein. It was right before closing time so ordered take out. Started eating around 10:30pm and had the fried wontons and a very small portion of the chicken lo mein. Shortly after I started to not feel very well. Around midnight, I started to feel sick to my stomach and by 4 a.m. I was vomiting from very obvious food poisoning. The fried wontons were 100% to blame. Makes me super sad because I love Chinese food. Will never eat here again and definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone.
Newly remodeled, bigger and better buffet, great for big groups.
Very good food n great service
Always love the take out!
Newly renovated and the best part is they added more options for entrees and a new salad bar
It was very quiet. We werent sure if it was open until we went to the door. Buffet was decent. You need to add orange chicken to it! Coffee didn't taste that great. Overall still a 4!
There are much better places to eat!
Not a whole lot of choices for food but it was a good price and the Food was fresh.
The updating that was done with the restaurant was very nice and the food is good; however,I wanted a glass of iced tea with a slice of lemon and was told that they only had sweet tea. Really???
We just started going to Giant Panda again about 4 months ago. We like it because I am a vegetarian and my Husband is not at Giant Panda we can both eat well. I especially like the fruit bar. That being said it is so sad that we are not going to be able to eat there any more.Last time we were there we noticed that they have a lobster tank. A lobster tank filled with a chunk of ice instead of water. Those poor lobsters are just laying there on top of that ice suffering. We we saw that we felt so bad that we decided not to go there any more. We are really going to miss it . We went there at least three times a month . I have to tell all of our friends to stop going too. We can not support a place that treat animals like that.
It changed hands and the food is terrible. Anywhere you touch at your booth/table is STICKY. Bad service
This is my gold standard for Chinese in Fargo
Not the best Chinese food in town.
Told over the phone the price for a adult for lunch was $5.55 we show up the lady up front tells me i am wrong and embarrassed me, i should have walked away then but gave them another chance. Big mistake chicken on a stick seemed undercooked, Bread sticks cold in the center, rice is crunchy, tea taste like pool water and the small amount of food they have is not much of a selection. If you are hungry dont come here. Rude staff, whom i did not say anything rude to glared at me as i ate my food. More than anything being lied to and embarrassed in front of stangers also in line was the worste.
Best Chinese buffet in town. It also not expensive. Drink included.
Great food great service
Nice selection of food but everything was cold.
My new #1 Chinese buffet in town.
Food fills ya fast
Amazing take-out! Vegetable fried rice had fresh broccoli, bean sprouts, and a perfect flavor. Homey hot and sour soup and great sweet and sour chicken as well. Worth every penny.
The food was all fresh during lunch hour and staff were friendly.
Food was very good fresh and clean
Large portion sizes for a reasonable price. Excellent fried rice and cream cheese wontons. Quick delivery too.
A great buffet, has added a sushi line!
The new menu and changes to the place are wonderful!! It was delicious!
Hit or miss with the food. Mellow atmosphere. Definitly not worth the price for the quality of the food.
Everything was cold. Most of the pans on the buffet were empty. I asked if they were going to bring more chicken wings-waited-never did. Thia place was better before they remodeled. Not worth $15
I'm not impressed at all with this place. There are a lot of options to choose from but only a few of those options are edible. The green beans were cold, honey chicken was dry and breading was mushy. The Mongolian pork was oddly sweet, every piece of fruit tasted off. The good foods were the seafood delight and a few of the sushi options. I'd steer clear of the raw fish options and the tamago sushi. Raw fish is a given in a place like this and I'll later explain the hygiene, but the egg was waaaay too sweet. The egg is supposed to have a hint of sweetness mixed with a bit of soy sauce, not taste like I'm eating a candied egg. I also should have gotten a hint that this place was going to be bad based on the greeting we got from the server. She didn't look happy that there were people coming in and during our meal we had to wonder if she was ever going to come to fill up our drinks. Do we get a limit on how many refills we can have? We were thirsty and yet could not get her attention for a refill. And she only came by once. Never bothered to come by again to take plates out of the way. Did I mention we didn't have a lot to drink? I wanted to go behind the counter to grab it because we had made two trips up there and yet there was no refills. To top it off the cleanliness of the place really puts a damper on it. There was a piece of chicken that was lying on the side of the buffet for twenty minutes at least. There were also dirty plates and cups sitting on the edge of the wait station. Not in a bin like they're supposed to be. Just sitting on an edge. I would not recommend for anyone to go here. If you do just eat the sushi and dessert. Bring your own drinks!
Good food, great service, friendly!
Food was excellent! Quite impressed, different than it used to be.
I went there today and was not impressed at all with the new flare. Food was not hot and everything seemed to have jalapenos in it. Not a lot of options either for beef. Wont go back. Will stick to King House on Broadway.
Great buffet
Food is very dried out
Great customer service, good food. I wish there was more variety in food but it was
Great service
Best food ever all the time I went there
it was a great variety of sushi and other Chinese food options!....not a lot of choice when it comes to "American eats" but I for one do not go into a Chinese restaurant and expect to have a great burger so I was very pleased!
The food was much better under the new owners.
Worst 14 dollars for a Chinese buffet i’v ever spent. Food was average at that , terrible food selection and not recommended for any family looking to have a good priced buffet. Not allowed to refill own drinks is also very upsetting. New management, same terrible service and food but even HIGHER priced buffet. Again worst 14 dollars for a buffet i have ever spent. Go to king house downtown for your best Chinese buffet experience
Pricing is bad and misleading. I was told One price and charged a higher price! Their lunch menus price are expensive.!!!!! They do not include egg rolls, wontons, chicken wings, nor drink.. nothing! And yet you pay $8 or more. For very small portions of food!! About a cup of meat and a cup and a half of rice. They do not provide you with a fork nor napkin. Unless you requested. But have the nerve to want a tips!! And have no shame in asking.. if you want good Chinese food try ( Lucy's Chinese on 45th st) in Fargo better service better Foods!!!
I cant believe the food and how wonderful it looks in there. Thanks to a wonderful person named Lotus she helped my daughter to use chopsticks. She can eat noodles and rice and whatever with them!!
New Ownership! 10 times cleaner and neater! You can tell they upped the game in meeting health codes. The tables, steam tables and cold tables are all brand new. The Chinese food is about the same, but they also have a select number of sushi rolls now! They were actually decent rolls, better than supermarket rolls anyway. No more bottomless soda though, only one cup per person. Didn't like that at all. I'll be going back regardless!
Food was great and the price wasn't bad.
Good selection of items to choose from.
If you want Chinese don’t come here. Horrible staff and food. Also, contrary to what they said, they don’t have sushi. 100% worst buffet experience we’ve had.
Cold food, new set up isn't great.
My second favorite Chinese restaurant. Only second because they don't have cheese teasers like King House, five stars Edit: they remodeled and have sushi, which is cool, but they increased the cost for a buffet by a lot. My main beef with the remodel is they removed the self service soda fountain. Wouldn't be a huge issue if the employees would actually get customers drinks and refills regularly. Been sitting here for close to a half hour without getting a drink.
Great food great service comfortable
Personally, this experience was horrid. My “chicken” was about as soggy and flavorless as a head of lettuce left in the fridge for a month. The noodles were still able to talk to me, and the rice had to much white flavor and not enough rice. Overall, you’d be better off buying the Walmart tofu special.
It wasn't hurrible. Personally I have a rule about seafood at places like this - leave it to the more adventurous in your party. Needless to say this buffet also had sushi ... Yikes!
Food was hot and fresh! Fish tasted amazing, rice was just as good, sauteed beans & mushrooms were delicious! I didn't do any fried food, but it looked good! Very friendly and clean!!
Good food ,and very relaxing atmosphere.
This place was AWFUL, so bad I came here just to write a review. Biggest waste of $14 a person there is giving when I showed up an hour and a half before close nothing was out and nothing was cooking. The guy in line behind me got a refund as he left, I should have done the same.
Love the variety of food they have on their buffet! !! Good Chinese food!!! Good parking and lots of seating room!!
The beat food there was the salad and ice cream everything else tasted so bad the chicken wings were pink inside. Sauced food was soggy.
Staff are very sweet, food is really good and not old.
Enough variety to satisfy my "I don't like Chinese food!" child, while offering many delicious options for the rest of the family. We will be coming back! Edit: Food poisoning set in the next day, we will not be going back!
All you can eat buffet . And under 10 bucks
All you can eat shrimp
Absolutely wonderful. I had a great time with mom.
Great staff food was great today.
Had a fly in my food but its ok not authentic
They have been advertising new owners, a new menu and new look, however I was not aware of this when I last visited with a friend. One thing that should also be mentioned is the new price tag which is right up there with Super Buffet now. While I will agree the restaurant looks nicer, the food tasted the same as it always has and they now serve you drinks instead of self-serve. Honestly, the variety of food is not nearly as good as you will get at other places of comparable price and it tastes exactly the same as before. I used to enjoy going here with friends for a cheap meal but now with the new price, I would say you would get more value for your money elsewhere. I understand that a business has to make money but they should not have jacked the price up so much and they should have just focysed on mqking it nicer so that they would get more business rather than up the price without matching what is already available in Fargo.
Wonerful food great place to eat !!
Lots of food options but none of it was fresh..had to ask for fresh everything
Love the changes
First time customer for Giant Panda never again. Ordered delivery. Worst food in my life. Pork Fried rice tasted oily. Sweet sour pork was all deep fry batter with a a small piece of pork. The egg rolls were soggy & tasted like all cabbage. The beef & broccoli tasted like too much boullion totally unedible. Asked for duck sauce & spicy mustard. Did not get either one they could not compensenate because I paid cash do not want that as will not eat or order from there again. Was expensive waste of money.
Try the pollack for sure if it is available! No bad food here, everything is good.
Very good food, lots of new choices.
Mellow atmosphere. Not loud or busy. Food wasn't very good. $14 per person for a buffet is really high for the poor quality of food. Food was more like a $8 buffet. Best part was their fruit, which was just canned fruit anyway. Wouldn't recommend for supper, especially for the price.
First time ordering in quite awhile. For the past 12 years Giant Panda has had consistent, great food, by far the best in Fargo. Tonight I order same as always and the garlic chicken taste like nothing, just mushy chicken. The wontons, egg roll and chicken for the s&s chicken tastes like old oil. This place has always been my "best ever favorite" chinese food. It changed and yuck
Would always come here for take out. It was about $11 which was fair. They have an entire new layout/menu. The take out system is now pay per lbs. I got what I always get and it was $17 after weighing it. For the same food/amount. Won't be coming back here for lunch.
Dirty dishes. Food was dried up
You will feel like a super model in comparison to the other diners. Same same Asian buffet stuff.
*ZERO STAR* Do not go there an hour before they close. There was old crusty food zero wontons, 1 eggroll, fried rice that had a half scoop in the bin. No fresh made food in sight. I could give it a ZERO STAR I would. Me and my wife spent 14$ a person that's 28$ for one of the worst meals we have had in a long time. There are better places to eat for 28$
Unable to add a zero. Plain tasting food and awful service! Dirty and grossly dirty carpet. Would NEVER recommend.
Nice place to eat with family friends. Big parking area for Truckers..
i am late for school oh no how will i get to school this is terrible i need to get to school i wanna see my friends and go to my classes i have eight classes in total yes huh i am still late to school the clock is ticking i ate food t this place when i was late for school an d it was really good food it was fresh and not too crunchy not too soft i am yes stil late for school how will i makeup my work. haha i spelled makeup instead of make up i am a sutupid man es
No food out on tables with two hours before close
Looks OK from the door, where you pay first. Mixed reviews were there for a reason. Food was mediocre at best. Some was super hot but most was warm or somewhat old. The place was clean but looked like another half hour after close would really make it better. Just not CLEAN clean. And it was warm and muggy inside. Tried it and FAIL. NOT returning. I can't suggest another place, bit I recommend another locale for your meal... :|
Meh. The sushi bar and fruit bar is pretty great. Their noodles and rice sucked though.
Ordered food came 1 hr. 30minutes later. Told them I canceled. The delivery guy got lippy. They said that there was no delivery driver this morning? How is that my fault. I went to McDonalds instead.
Nice remodel!! Food was good
Good food, as always! And a great price for a buffet!
Good food, good service, reasonable prices
Food was okay to barely tolerable. I would not recommend.
Great food, very nice settings and good customer service...
Food is very good. The restaurant is clean. Everybody is friendly.
Good food
I've eaten a lot of standard Chinese restaurant food in cities where I lived including Chicago and Minneapolis, and I can say I am almost always disappointed by the quality of food at nearly every restaurant. HOWEVER, Giant Panda is this weird anomaly of PERFECTLY cooked made-to-order Chinese every time I have ordered or eaten there... And this is in Fargo, North Dakota. Being a vegetarian, I don't eat the buffet, which I think is unfair to expect to be perfect like other reviews have complained about. It's a buffet: the food will not be straight from the kitchen and therefore NOT perfectly textured and temperature controlled, which is why Michelin Star restaurants aren't buffets. But if you order made-to-order, I don't think you'll be disappointed. The flavors are spot on, especially for run-of-the-mill dishes. Don't expect strong heat or uniquely elevated spices, as this is Fargo after all, and the main customer base wouldn't respond to that. Add some Sriracha, and you'll be set. But if you want perfectly cooked vegetables (and meats? I've only ordered tofu) with wonderfully savory sauces, Giant Panda is the way to go! The price point on the food is good, with good portions. Definitely worth the money.
Under $9 for lunch. Food was fresh, hot, good. Really nice selection of different levels of spicy dishes. Lots of chicken items, only one shrimp item which was a let down but plenty of other choices. Rice was good too. Place was clean not really fancy. People spoke really good English and talked to you. I do recommend and will go again.
Loved this place! The food was really good and warm
Great food
Not the same ,obviously different management. But the food isn't good and the service isnt very good either. Time to find another place to eat
This used to be my family's favorite place, definitely not any more. The remodel looks great, but why change the food so much??!! Won't be back
Tried to order delivery... After going through my order I was told it had to be at least $30. Ridiculous she knew my add before I ordered.
Dont hate it but there noodles are spaghetti noodle. Nothing special on buffet.
Last 2 months ordered takeout..first time the food was different but it was ok not like it used to be still got alot so we ordered again though it might be different back to the way it was yummy but same taste ugh... Nine dragons it is
Not the same since the change. Food has gone downhill and app table all items were cold. Sushi is a plus but I don’t eat fresh bacteria and fungus so not for me. As for cost cutting on no drink refills looks like your better off at kings house or China buffet in Moorhead. Save your green and time don’t come here any more!!!
Lot of good food only it should be marked. better. Hard to know what you are eating.
Quick delivery, great food and a new sushi bar added.
The food was good, but they need to turn their buffet tables on sooner as most of the food was merely war.
