My absolute FAVORITE restaurant in bismarck and mandan! Idk if there is any other german places in town but if there is it won't beat this place! The knoephla soup is AMAZING! Everything on their menu is AMAZING! Not only is the food amazing but the staff are very friendly as well. I would be devastated if this place ever shut down.

It does sadden me somewhat to give this place a negative review, but my last experience there is why I will likely never go back. My family and I have gone here numerous times and always had good food, good service, and excellent prices. On my last trip however it was just my wife and I. I ordered my usual cheeseburger and my wife ordered the roast beef sandwich. The menu gave no indication that it was going to be a plain Jane sandwich with no veggies. Once the food came out it was literally two pieces of wonder bread with too much mayo and a couple pieces of roast beef. All in all my wife and I could have put together this sandwich with the same ingredients from Wal-Mart for less than $2. Our server never came back to check on us so we could address the issue. Upon checkout we calmly told them about the sandwich being not up to our expectations hoping they might at least take that sandwich off the bill. They made no such accommodations nor did they offer to and the cashiers response was literally "Oh yeah we get complaints about that one alot". Then if this is a recurring issue why is this still on your menu? Needless to say I was frustrated and refused to pay anymore for the terrible meal and lack of service so left my waitress with no tip. This is one thing I never do considering I've been a worker in the food industry and I always tip about 25%. I won't be going back and will instead continue to eat at Dakota Farms where they continue to not disappoint.

My husband & I have been looking for a great breakfast place in the Bismarck-Mandan area since we moved here 3 years ago. This place is by far our favorite! It's a little bit of a drive for us coming from north Bismarck but well worth it. Their biscuits & gravy are the best around. It has the cozy, small town cafe feel that we have missed since moving here. Visit them & see for yourself!!

This is my favorite place to eat, I could eat here weekly! I always get the German daily special, and it's always consistent, hot, fresh, made to order! I feel like my grandmother, who is German, would be cooking this kind of food, if she was still able too. Great home cooked meal! Caramel rolls, bread pudding, rhubarb pie are the best I've ever had! The staff is always helpful and friendly. I'm so happy we have this restaurant. It fits my taste buds perfectly!

I've been going to this place since I was a young child! They have always had great caramel rolls and the Friends Family Knoephla soup is a worth the drive from any part of town. Service is as expected from a small cafe and was below average on my last visit, however I've had great service there before so it is not a reflection of the restaurant at all.
