Here you have the opinions of real people who consumed the services and products of Cowboy Cafe (Restaurant) in the area close to North Dakota.
To this day this business gets a rating of 4.3 stars over 5 and that score has been calculated on 267 reviews.
As you can see its rating is really good, and it's based on a large number of feddbacks, so we can say that the valuation is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they are happy with the service, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to place reviews when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant is included in the category of Family restaurant.
Very friendly place! Great food as well! I appreciated the tips on where to find wildlife to photograph!
The food was okay. I liked the atmosphere of a small restaurant with old-time decorations but there are some serious concerns about the sanitary aspect of this place. The waitress grabbed ice from the ice chest using the cup as a scoop, meaning her bare hands touched the ice as she scooped it out. There was a scoop not even 5 inches to the left of the ice chest and instead of using that and following health codes, she proceeded to use bare hands to grab the ice for my drink. Not exactly pleased with my experience and I would recommend checking out somewhere else where sanitation is a priority...
Good food and friendly servers.
Great food, great service! Just like my husband remembered as a kid spending summers with his grandparents!
Delicious breakfast! You must have some bacon. Well worth the pitt stop.
A whole lot of meat to eat in Roosevelt country . Hooyah
BBQ was like sloppy joe. Onion rings are over done. Will not be back.
Great breakfasts
It was an usually busy Sunday for late breakfast/early lunch so it was a little slower than expected, but no too long. The cafe atmosphere, and friendly staff made up for it. It was my first time here and will be back.
Very good food and very good service, but this place has some sanitary issues.
Breakfast was delicious. Eggs were very fresh and french toast was great. Atmosphere was old west. Highly recommend it
Great food and people
Neat little cafe. Great breakfast.
Outstanding service and food. A must for me to always be there for at least one meal while in Medora.
Great food
What a gem in a tourist town! Homestyle cooking, great soups, buffalo burgers, sandwiches and much more. Don't forget to try the pies. Yummy!
Wonderful staff. Busy place
Kevin and Beth a great people, love the food and friendly atmosphere.
Great home cooking great service
Good food
Home cooking style food, very good. Family environment.
Really great place!! The staff is nice and friendly and they accommodated my request on something they don’t usually do which was very much appreciated!
Good for local r own home food
A bit slow when they are busy, but good buffelo burger.
Such a great place!. Food is always great, service is wonderful. They are all very friendly, makes you feel like your with family!
Excellent food, good company!
Very good, like home cooked breakfast and friendly! !
If I could give this place less I would. I am a vegetarian by choice and by no means push it on anyone. My mother and I walked into the restaurant and were looking at the menu and saw that there was a blackbean burger available. That seemed great. Out here in rancher territory there is not many options for vegetarian's which I completely understand. It's not the culture. Out here they eat lots if meat. I understand that and have never complained as I am a guest here. However, when my mom mentioned to me they had a vegetarian option an older gentleman working there, I assume mabey the owner, chef or manager, overheard and asked me why I was a vegetarian. I was kind of hesitant to answer because I didnt want to offend him by saying I was vegetarian for my own moral beliefs. Despite this, I told him I had moral issues. Hearing this, he went off on me, telling me he couldn't handle people like me and stated "that's bulls*it everything dies. I can't stand people like you." I kind of stood there stunned. I turned to my mom and quietly said "let's just leave". As we walked away he said "thank you" as if the idea of serving us disgusted him. I am a pretty shy and quiet. This was a plain act of prejudice. His actions were hateful and unnecessary. I realize my ideas may not match his but this country is founded on freedom and I shouldn't be refused service because of my own life choices.
Great service and great food
Good home cooked meals
Really enjoyed lunch here. Felt like we were locals as that seemed to be clientele. Decent value. Burgers and bbq.
Good fast food
Food was pretty good. Their tomato macaroni soup is THE BEST THING EVER!! When the lady first said that was the soup of the day it isn't sound too good until I asked what was in it. And so yummy!! Hubbys hot beef sandwich was good too. My food was good except my country fried steak was over cooked. They charge for refills so be cautious of that! (Didn't know that until we got the bill)!
Very friendly home atmosphere. Great food, excellent service. Perfect place for breakfast before heading out into the park.
Cool, local atmosphere. You must order the Hot Beef! (Added later) Also checked out breakfast the next day – excellent!
My friend, who worked here 10 years ago, took me for breakfast. Tbh either this place sucks, or I got used to east coast food, where the food from this place would be considering garbage. We ordered regular scrambled eggs with bacon and everything was overcooked and tasted really bad.
I love the atmosphere, excellent food!!
Good food, service was a little slow, good food❣
Great food some of the best breakfast I've had
Love this cafe. It looks like the last reviewer isn't happy at any place he eats! This cafe has been run by the same people all of my life. You cannot go wrong at the Cowboy cafe!
Loved the Cowboy feel inside. Good service and a nice Buffalo Burger.
We choose to do the cowboy cookout instead of the steak fondue. Both are in the same location, just depends on what line you go through. I was with my husband and we both thought it was well worth the money. The chicken was seasoned very well and fall off of the bones tender, the ribs were tender and most with a pleasant BBQ sauce on top, the Buffalo roast was the star of the trio. You couldn't have asked for a more tender piece of meat with lots of flavor and juciness. The sides were baked beans (could have been cooked longer and have more seasoning), the coleslaw required more seasoning as well but the baked potato was shot on. For dessert they offered mini doughnuts and a brownie. There is live entertainment in the beginning. Overall a nice experience and a great opportunity to walk away with new friends you have met.
Awesome food quick and reasonable price
Had a wonderful lunch with great good and friendly service.
Great food. Good portions for price
Good stuff and excellent service
We stopped in for supper - good food and friendly service with a fun atmosphere to boot!
Delicious!
I've been there twice now and both times it didn't wow me, but it was still good. Theyre certainly one of the cheaper places in Medora for eating food. It is cash only so be aware of that before going. there is an ATM about a block away.
First off this places dose not accept credit cards, which does not make sense for a tourist town. We arrived before 11 for breakfast, but had to find an ATM to get cash. The waitress gave us very poor instructions to the ATM. When we came back it was just after 11. On the menu it says "breakfast until 11, or whenever Frank calls swich." We asked if we could order breakfast, but they refused. We decided to stay and order lunch (mistake). The serves was poor and the food was worse. I believe the only was this places stays in business is because of the limited food choices in Medora. Do not waste your time or money on this place.
It was great. The food was wonderful as is the owners. Very wonderful place.
The people are so friendly..Food is great...
Wanted to close.
Great food - genuine home cooked!!!
Too few staff for the amount of people they get. Slow for coffee refills. Somewhat over priced for what you get but for Medora this is the only choice.
Great location, owners, and food!!! A must stop on your trip!!
Good stuff
Good food. Great service.
Great place for breakfast but bring cash!
Cute place but the food was mediocre
Great food. Great price.

Great food cool place
Cowboy-sized portions of great food and drinks will keep you going for your visit to Medora. Make sure you stop in for breakfast.
Great burger, great service.
Crowded but nice. Great service and a great breakfast.
Good food, good coffee, friendly and efficient staff. Be aware that they are only open from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Also they do not accept debit or credit cards.
Great breakfast, reasonable prices. It's pretty much the only place in town that serves breakfast.
Very good place to eat
Always busy and has really good breakfasts.
Great place and people
Just a neat place to eat and a great town
This is the cafe that your cheap cousins walmart trip inspired bbq then inspired these guys to open a restaurant based on that bbq
Excellent as always. The food and friendly waitresses are great!
Pretty good food at reasonable prices for the area. Would some here again.
Wish I could give it No stars. Took 20 minutes.to order. After an hour still no food. Order.was.not.placed. worst service ever. Don't go there if your hungry or have a time line.
Great food and service
Very few places left open in off season, but went here for breakfast this morning. Loved it! Really sweet waitress. Very quaint and charming restaurant. Food was delicious and my eggs were cooked exactly how I like them. Good coffee. Word to the wise, can’t pay with credit card, cash only.
Good home cooked meals! Must try the caramel roll.
Workers are friendly, service and food was great!!
Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere!
Always great..
The food was decent but the coffee was terrible. But they do say it is Folger's, so I am not sure what I was thinking. My fault really. The service was excellent, and for what it was an old school diner it matched up with my expectation.
Fastest place to eat in Medora. Food is pretty classic for a diner and is definitely affordable. Would definitely visit again if I ever return to Medora.
Food was good but service was a little slow. Hot beef special could have been a little warmer.
Good food and local flavors. Try the unique soups!
Great food. Don't accept credit cards though.
Food great. Best burger but service sucks
Good food
Family friendly great food
What a GREAT place! Our breakfast service and food were both outstanding.
Very helpful and accommodating staff. Good food. Generous portions.
Food was great
Great Ruben
Beth and Kevin are amazing cooks. We had a great breakfast as always
Service was great! Food was good.I had the Whoa Neil burger and the Corn poppers that come with where absolutely wonderful.
Good food, clean. A bit on the pricey side. Very home town.
Great great breakfast. And a great price
Terrific lunch but breakfast is my favorite. If it's busy in town then there will probably be a line at the Cowboy so give yourself a little extra time. We go at least once everytime we're in town!
This place is a find, just go there and wait patiently for your table, and if you are a couple seated at a table of four, invite a couple in line to dine with you, it will be a lovely experience!
WE have eaten here more than once and the food has always been good and plentiful. It has a homey atmosphere and is always busy. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the food.
Great food great service
Good service...busy place.. was just looking for a salad. Not on menu. Got a sandwich & fries...pretty heavy, but what else would you expect for a place called Cowboy Cafe. It tasted ok.
really cool place to stop and eat while visiting medora and the park. buffalo burger I had was great!
Great breakfast at a fair price. Outstanding service.
Great food, great Diner atmosphere.
Taste your waffle before using syrup. It's very sweet and filling. My favorite was the french toast.
Good prices, wide variety of menu options, great service
Agree with previous post, very unsanitary, carpet was simply put, gross, paid 32.00 for 2 frozen burgers with fries and pop. Service was slow and did not have answers to questions. Only take cash!
Great food and fast service!!! Get there early or you may need to wait for a table. It's worth the wait.
Excellent food and service
Food great service very friendly place recommend to come back
Average food ,above value prices , good service
Basic fair for a late lunch, not expensive, great service, cheap t-shirts!!!
It's a homely Cowboy meal for sure
Good food & great service. Went back several times.
Cowboy café is awesome! They serve kids meals in little cardboard cars! The car names are on the bottom and on the back of the car there is a license plate with the year. They have booths with real Cattle Brands stamped on the them. They also have brands on the underside of the porch awning. It is amazing, fun, cool, has great dessert, great food, and great kids grilled cheese too!
Good food for lunch, fast & friendly service. An older place, lots of interesting cowboy pictures on the walls. Family friendly & loud.
Breakfast was great food and value.
Went there for breakfast and enjoyed it greatly. We stayed in a hotel that did not have breakfast, so we asked if there was a breakfast place just to get some rolls. They told us the Cowboy Cafe has the best. So we tried it out and I have to say those sticky buns were amazing. There was several different ways we could eat them, we are kinda boring so we just had them normal. They were able to help is quickly and we ate back at our hotel because there was not a place to sit. That was fine because we were looking to get on the road quickly anyway. When we started to eat them the lady who helped us by putting napkins and silverware in out bag without us evening asking. I would recommend the Cowboy Cafe to anyone looking for a great homeade sticky bun!
Great atmosphere! Food was ok!
When you come into Cowboy restaurant you see cowboy pictures on the wall waitress or friendly the food is great.
Excellent homemade food, delicious Carmel rolls. Very prompt, polite service.
Had a party of 11 and the service was great and the food was served fast, hot and delicious.
Food was ok. Expensive as well.
Awesome we love visiting with the people and the owners
Wonderful food and customer service. Cowboy Cafe is a longtime favorite.
We had breakfast. Great staff. Delicious food.
Good good food
Love this place! It is a required stop whenever we are near Medora.
The Cowboy Café has a very comforting atmosphere. Service was fast and the food was magnificent. I am glad I was able to visit Medora and the Cowboy Café on my trip through North Dakota.
Impressed. Somehow my burger came out over-cooked, yet cold. Potatoes were cold. Didn't get part of the meal until I asked. Ice tea must've been brewed with water-flavored leaves....and all this is without a steady stream of customers coming in. If this place is the only place open next time I'm here, then gas station food it is.
Great tomato macaroni soup
Excellent food and service
Food was good, service was ok.
I loved my experience at the cowboy cafe. The atmosphere was homey, the staff was so friendly, and all the food felt like home cooking. That's all that needs to be said.
Good breakfast!
Carmel rolls are the best!
Nice local place, good breakfast, good people
Awesome waitress. Makes the breakfast better.
Great little historical restaurant.
Best breakfast and fastest service in town.
Service was great and the food also
Food was fantastic! Staff were respectful and responded to all our needs. This is a Medora favorite.
This is a unique small town cafe with great food and friendly staff! Have eaten here several times.
Good food, decent prices, friendly servers. Bacon was a little bit burnt. Caramel roll was just okay. French Toast was wonderful! Overall, enjoyed it.
Good food. Cool atmosphere with lots to enjoy
Good home cooking.
Food was good, staff is young but helpful. They only take cash. Had the pancakes, would recommend.
Good food.
The French toast was very good. This place was busy and we we're lucky to get a table from someone just leaving. I suggest going early. Waitresses were very friendly.
Great food!!
Great food and service! Always a stop for us when we visit.
