This place is a hidden gem. I've been here twice and the service is always great. The food is really good. They give you a variety of banchan and you can actually ask for seconds.

Tsung-Hsun Hsieh

This restaurant has 4.6 star on Google maps when we went there. Honestly, it's well below our expectations, and you can find many similar and even better restaurants around RTP. First, their seafood pancake is not as great as they said. It's ok, but definitely not that great. Hot stone pork has good portion. But the stone wasn't hot enough, so the rice tasted too soft and wet. The one in H Mart tasted better. The only one great thing is they have many small free dishes like kimchi and fish cake. Overall, it's not bad, it's just overrated.

John Jabusch

Excellent food in a clean and friendly environment.

Sean Lombardi

What a wonderful find. This place is an authentic gem. I have been back several times. All options are good. The staff is super nice and the food is wonderful and truly authentic.

I wasn't expecting anything special given it's a Korean restaurant in Durham, where Korean restaurants are limited unlike NYC, Washington DC, or LA, and my expectations were spot on. First, the service was good. The owners and staff welcomed us with a smile and greeting. Second, the food came out relatively fast, which was also good. If we had to wait a long time, I would have given a 1 star review. Most important, however, the food was quite disappointing... 1. The side dishes weren't all authentic, and the ingredients were not fresh. The fish cake side dish, for example, was too dry. Overall, the side dishes weren't good. One key indicator of a good Korean restaurant is the quality of the side dishes, and this place doesn't fit the category. 2. The bulgogi was pretty bad. They use traditional vegetables like onions, scallions, and carrots. However, the meat - beef - was very tough and not fresh. It had an odor of dated meat. 2. The soft tofu pots (soon du boo) had a ton of MSG (I'm willing to bet they use instant noodle soup base/powder, a trick used by cooks that cannot make a flavorful broth). I immediately tasted the MSG and scent of the soup base. The soft tofu wasn't too bad, but the ingredients like clams and meat were once-frozen (some clams had sand) and lacked the softness and flavor from better restaurants. I didn't expect much from a Korean restaurant located in a smaller US city, but this was a huge disappointment. Lastly, 1 serving of bulgogi and 4 sofu tofu pots cost over $80. You wouldn't pay that in NYC, LA, or elsewhere. On my next trip to Durham, even if I am starving for Korean food, I would NOT go back.

Don't let the street view dissuade you! The indoor of this restaurant is very pleasant and clean. Delicious soups and noodle dishes served commonly in a hot stone pot that keeps your food warm all through the meal. They provide all kinds of tasty different kimchi with your meal and will refill them as often as you like. This restaurant is one of the hidden gems of this area.

Bryan Barron

Vit Goal Tofu is one of the best Korean restaurants convenient for lunch time if you work in RTP. The food delivers on the promise of being delicious Korean food. The menu has a lot of choices for even the pickiest eater. I highly recommend giving this place a chance. Do not be put off by the look of the plaza that it resides in.

peter bohlen

This place is a gem! I highly suggest the stone pot bibimbop. Overall very pleased, great service and yummy food.

Naresh Kumar

Very nice place to try different style of food

Bobby Koo

Really good food and really good service. We enjoy it every time we go.

Daniel Englebretson

This place is awesome. It is another RTP area diamond. The food is on point, and the staff are very friendly. I've been here for lunch several times and have always really enjoyed it. I highly recommend it for lunch.

Dev Mankad

Great food and the staff seems to really want to know their customers. Handled a busy lunch time with grace.

Jeff Stone

One of the best soups I've ever had!! Amazing!!

Tim Hess

Good Soon Tofu

Sid Ravi

Loved it, great experience, the owner is very sweet and kind! Highly reccomend!

Russell Townshend

Delicious Korean food in RTP. Strongly recommended. Service is fast and friendly, excellent for lunch.

Jian Bao

Nearly no service. Ants on the table. Very disappointing experience. Did not even give me a receipt after I paid on her ipad, claiming I HAD to tell her before I pay. Colleague later was sick - not confident about their cleanness. Will never go again.

Jonathan Nance

This place is great. Many plates less than 20 and they have all the tasty side plates.

Jay J. D'Lugin, MD, MS

March 2018 update: STILL the best Korean food in the Triangle, tucked away in a hidden shopping center in Durham. Fresh and delicious. The house-made kimchi is outstanding. And we love the owner! It's close to RTP. Check it out!

Tyler Cichonski

Great stone bowl bibimbap.

robert brown

Small place, great food!

Kevin V

Great service and food! The spicy pork was awesome!

Fa N

Had the Hot stone-pot Bibimbob. Don't know how authentic it is, but it was pretty good. Comes sizzling in a-who would have guessed-hot stone pot and with all sorts of tiny veggie plates with it.

Garrett Christian

Friendly atmosphere and great food. Best 찌개 around!

myoung kim

We love galbi and bibimbop ☆

kat wies

I loved my meal! I got a box lunch with all types of goodies....it was great! I came for bbq tabletop but that's not at lunch....heads up!

David Leonhardt

Fantastic food and great service. We came in with a party of eleven and they were awesome about it. The dolsot (hotpot) Bimbimbob is the best we've ever had (even over when we lived in Korea)! Can't wait to go back!

Ahmed Kayyali

Nice place. Authentic Korean!

Dhruv Patel

SO delicious! My first experience eating Korean food, so yummy. Great service too! Will definitely go again.

R Z

Really like their hot stone bibimbap, and their homemade tofu soup. I always feel so healthy after I eat there.

Ann P.

good food, friend staffs and Joann is super nice.

Nate Larson

Restrooms are very clean, but otherwise this is about what you might expect from a huge-menu, slightly-overpriced, owner-is-also-your-waitress, strip-mall Asian restaurant. I dug the "Apple Pay at the table" tech, though, and they carry all the Sunkist soda flavors. They also have nice high chairs for the kiddos.

Joel Blondy

Really good authentic Korean food. And they have bubble tea!

Amber Dobsovic

The bubbling beef and tofu spicy soup is unbelievable!

William Baldwin

Great food and many choices of cuisine

Arpan Shah

Auntie Korean food

Ann Vogler

Absolutely loved the kimchi pancakes, which came with several delicious sides. The hot pot chicken bibimbob was also great.

Earn Asanasak

Authentic Korean food with various and delicious side dishes!

Chad Walker

Really authentic Korean food, probably the best around

Breon Alcork

The waitress is very genial and the food is delicious. The banchan is plentiful and they refill constantly.

William Beaver

Have been to a few Korean places in the Durham area and so far this is the best spot. My girlfriend and I checked this place out after she did some research and saw that they offer a variety of vegetarian options which is great for us. The bibimbap was incredible and they have plenty of offerings in terms of traditional appetizers. If you are trying to find some good Korean eats in the Durham area please give this place a try.

Tess Bushman

Limited menu of well known and well done Korean dishes. Very generous with a variety of pickled vegetables. Manager was very solicitious and happy to bring repeats of our favorite side dishes and checked to make sure heat level was to our liking. We both had hot dish Bi Bim Bop...mine vegetarian and companions was seafood. Only complaint was that there was very little seafood in his(only 3 pieces of squid and 2 shrimp) but otherwise he enjoyed it. Cheerful friendly service. Nice place for a tasty lunch which is what we will come back to try next time we want Korean food. Also have Bubble teas for those who enjoy them.

Aritra Dgp

Amazing Korean BBQ ribs

Genericdave

Delicious! Come hungry because it's gonna be a big meal.

Karissa K

Drove from Raleigh, on a recommendation. It was worth it! Fried dumplings, hot pot and octopus stir fry, all very good. The service was wonderful and the place clean. You have to know about it to find it.

Tom Boucher

Excellent option especially at lunch time. Great stuff

John Klassa

Went there for the first time today. I had the thin-sliced beef soup, and it was awesome. The person who helped us (may have been the owner; not sure) was very friendly, and funny. The meal came with about six sides that seemed to be bottomless... As we finished something, more was brought out. The prices were a little steep, but the food and the service were great. I'd definitely go back.

brent evans

Hidden Gem! Tucked away in a small shopping strip off 55, this is my new favorite lunch spot. 4 meals now, all excellent. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. Their soups and entrees are wonderful! Spicy beef stew today was amazing. The pickled items are to die for! Try this place you won't be disappointed!

Chad Rychlewski

Amazing little hole in the wall that we frequently visit. The ladies that run the place for dinner are very friendly and helpful. The bbq ribs are delicious, seafood pancake full of flavor, bimbimbop roaring hot, and the tofu soup was silky and tasty. They also use an iPad to accept payment and sign your bill, very green and appreciated.

Maggie Jackson

Enjoyed some delicious beef fried rice and korean bbq with my bestie ! The food had so much flavor I couldn't help but get 3 servings haha

Forrest Huynh

Fantastic food, service, and very authentic. One of Durham's best kept secrets!

Mike Lalor

Awesome food, always good. One of my favorite places by far.

Candace Jones

Visited for the first time today....and I will be back!! The bibimbop was DEEEELISH!! Do was the kimchi. In fact, everything was really good, even the new items I tried.

Justin Perry

Some of the best Korean food I've ever had. The spicy options are actually spicy, but there are milder options as well. Friendly service as well. An unexpectedly amazing meal.

Faith Cheyech Rialem

The food and service are really good. The Korean BBQ ribs were really delicious, just a tad bit too fatty

Patricia Lindsay

My first time having Bibimbop. It was delicious!

David Marshall

Excellent food and service at a fair price with all you can eat appetizers.

nico

I order the sea food noodles and it came with 1 shrimp lmfao alright place over all.

Deepika Bhargava

I ordered vegeterian soup and it was so good that i went back again next day. I will strongly recommend this place for vegeterian soups!

Atom Dewitt

The service is amazing, the food is delicious, and it doesn't take them long to make it

Michael Rim

Delicious, friendly and family-oriented atmosphere. Tofu soup (soondubu) is to die for!

Elizabeth Gatling

Always great food and service. Never a disappointment.

S K

I'm Korean and I like the food here, owner is friendly :)

H K

Best accidental discovery of a restaurant ever. The bbq, sides, and bubble tea were all perfectly done with fantastic service.

Michael Pendergraft

Glad we found this place. Great food, and great service. We both got the chopped beef hot stone-pot bibimbob. Looking forward to returning and trying the other versions.

Aquatic Hoo

Definitely worth finding. It is 'off the road' turning off Hwy 55 near Hwy 54, and the market next door kind dominates the little shopping plaza signage. And, despite the word 'tofu' in the title, don't fret. It is a speciality of theirs but this is a full Korean menu with plenty of options. The initial display of banchan (traditional free appetizers) is impressive. On the level of what I saw at Min-Ga in Chapel HIll. That made a good first impression. Welcome and courteous service like you were being brought into their home to eat. Everything we tried was a solid representation of classic South Korean food. A must try.

Wesley Gay

Fantastic bibimpap for me and my wife. Will come here again when in town.

Daniels Harry

Stopped in for lunch after someone recommended this was a great place for authentic Korean. Their food was excellent, the ambience was calming and they staff were super friendly. Will definitely be back!

BK Nelson

The specialty is tofu soup, but I found it to be thin and not very tasty with odd bits of seafood. I think N. Raleigh's Seoul Garden version is way, way better. (SG's cabbage kimchi is tastier, too.)

Kaushal Modi

We loved the vegetarian options we got at this place. It's the first Korean cuisine restaurant where we had good vegetarian choices. We had the vegetarian dumpling soup and the hot stone bowl for vegetarians. We were served unlimited cold mild green tea instead of water, which was a nice touch. Unlike what some other reviewers have experienced, the owner was not rude to us. I would definitely visit this place again.

Bettina Kilpatrick

The service was fast and the food was delicious. I'll definitely be back!

Michael Chuong

Food and services getting worst.

Weiwei Zhu

Love this place !

Taylor Blackley

My favorite lunch spot near RTP. Especially on Cold days!

Trey Clarke

Delicious! The owner is really nice. Get the casserole if you go with another person.

Youngyi Park

We love this place. Authentic Korean Foods! Tofu and side dishes were great!

Angela Ward

I have been coming here for a few years now and the food has always been good. The lady that manages the restaurant is friendly and offers great service. My favorite foods are the hot pots in the winter and the kalbi / banchan in summer. The food is good year round but Korean food is about comfort ..and this hits the mark.

Jake Jiseob Sin

The most legit Korean food restaurant in Durham area. This place helped me survive my years at Duke. Also popular with non-Koreans. Soon tofu, 제육볶음, 갈비 are all good. I went at least once per week. Would have gone more often if I could. Definitely recommend this place with confidence!

연규헌

As a native local Korean, have been navigated and tried numerous Korean restaurant throughout the globe and will say this place is the best Korean restaurant I've ever been on the overseas. Great.

Tony Bichler

Steve johnson

Wow!

Sun Moon Kim

Best Korean restaurant near Durham and Chapel Hill. Not the nicest location or restaurant but don't let that fool you. The food is excellent!

Derrick Thomas

Loved the vegan food recommended by a warm host

Andrew Horvath

Delicious, authentic Korean food served in a quaint restaurant with pleasing asthetics. The beef bulgogi in particular was fantastic.

Patrick Clarke

Fantastic food!

Raymond Vagell

The Bulgogi was not that flavorful. The octopus Bibimbop was void of flavor and only a few pieces of octopus. Overall the food was meh.

DeAnna Garland

Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere! My husband and I are vegan and they made sure to accommodate us and help us make our dishes vegan friendly.

David Payne

We love this place. Go there at least once per month. The owner is a wonderful host and the food is always good. We moved from California where Korean food was easy to find and incredible. It's as good as California and the variety is great.

Kat Thompson

Love this Place! One of my favorite lunch spots.

Ted Nono

This place is my regular lunch place. Provide really best quality of Korean Food. Their Kimuchi is really tasty. Owner make those by herself. So far this Korean Restaurant is the best in Greater RTP AREA!!! I want to put 7 stars!!

arnold oh

Food is excellent. It's improved so much since the previous owner.

Lindsey Stroud

The owner was so nice she talked to us and we all had a great time together. The food was great and there were vegan options for us. It was really cool to try something new and their water was amazing!!

Paul Bong

Joseph Kim

Good food, good service, good price.

will winstead

Great food best in the City. Great vegan dishes.

Sal Munguia

Their food is always delicious. We always love getting their Beef BBQ(Kalbi), and the Kimchi pancake. The Hot Stone-Pot(Bibimbob) is also one of our favorites.

shawn marciszewski

Awesome korean food at a decent price.

Michael Duda

Delightful little Korean restaurant. Don't let the name fool you, although there are many tofu dishes, tofu is not the only thing they serve. There are lots of Korean favorites. Great side dishes. The kimchi is beautifully spicy. Awesome place for lunch with nice lunch specials. Would be a great spot for groups too as they have some nice big tables.

Geonna Pride

One of my favorite restaurants, definitely a diamond in the ruff. Owner is so sweet and pleasant and she always remembers my face. Awesome food, must try!

MB P

A warm spread that is perfect for slow savoring on a cold day.

Bruce Lopez

Amazing food!

Chloë Maddock

Absolutely delicious food! We will return soon and we will bring friends!

Will Cook

The best of the 3 Korean restaurants near the 54 - 55 intersection by a narrow margin (Inter Korea House a close second). Their banchan (side dishes) have the greatest variety, with 6, and all are good. The tofu soups are the best choice here, but bibimbap and other dishes are also good. Service very friendly.

Jen

Best Korean food. I especially love their dol-sot-bibimbap(hot pot bibimbap/돌솥비빔밥).

Zuska Dieck

Went for lunch for the first time today and loved it! Prompt service, good prices, and good portion sizes. I got the hot stone bibimbob and had some left over.

Alice Newhart

Excellent customer service for having only one waiteress during the rush hour. Great food and served it very warm too. Love their kimichi too. Will be back again in the near future.

DY OH'AR

My partner and I enjoyed our tofu stew and hot stone bibimbop. The kimchi was super tasty and spicy - some of the best I've had at a restaurant (Mom and dad's of course is the best!) and lots of generous tasty sides. You can ask for refills at any Korean restaurant. The pancake was off completely as was the black bean shaved ice dessert. Skip those and stick to the delicious mains!

Sascha Weyer

Very tasty lunch!

Tania Rosen

The food I tried was blah :/ I went here after all the awesome reviews I read but I was disappointed. The only flavor I could taste was chili.

Gloria酱

Good service, comfort food. I recommend the mushroom tofu soup or kimchi beef. Mixed grain rice is the best.

chris sullivan

Great Korean BBQ and hot stone bibimbap! The owners are very friendly and explained each dish as well as showed us how to eat our food! Very informative and friendly

Peter Sramka

Excellent food.

Ashlyn H

My husband and I ate here and we will definitely be back! It is tucked back in a corner, and I never would have known it was there has I not seen it on google. The reviews were pretty spot on. The food was fantastic, and the woman running everything was very friendly and willing to explain what different foods were. I highly recommend this place! Next time we’re trying the Korean casserole.

Abraham Choi

Food is too salty. Too much msg.

Shakira Rolle

The food was very flavorful. I loved the Japchae and the Korean Bbq.... just magnificent!

Oliver Zhu

A good place to have Korean beef and tofu with rice! Medium spicy is handable for me.

Ning Xu

Who rate it 4.6???

Zuri Han

Expensive but good meal here. Spicy tofu soup with Korean BBQ is great!

Julie Pitts

Really good soups. Service was also great!

Tiantian Ren

Over priced for small portions. Mostly artificial crab meat in seafood entree. Waitress is rude and inattentive. Use the same towel to wipe seat and utensils.

Jia L

Hi, the Hispanic waitress had her finger nails into the dish/food. She also squeezed my milk tea straw from one end to the other, with bare fingers, then brought it to me. I can see her fingers with milk tea on them. Be cautious.

Sean Che

Steak is good, it's traditional Korean food taste.

Charles Park

Good service and great food.

John Gutierrez

New management! New management! New management! Spicy pork, seafood tofu soup, kalbi... awesome! I try to go 3 or 4 times a week. Banchan is good and they keep it coming. A little pricey but worth it!

luis hernandez

Breath taking. I ate more in one meal then i would normally eat in three meals

Kehao Chen

Food is good, place is clean and service is okay; relatively a bit pricey.

Tiffany Harrell

The Lunch Bento box was to die for.

Chelsy Lazar

Amazing food! Fell in love with Korean food thanks to this place! Bimibop bowl is my favorite

w. Patrick Gale

Great food. Bibimbob hotpot is always a treat. Service is great.

Hyon Mclean

Fantastic food and good service best place an authentic

Kathi Cotney

the strip mall makes you think this is iffy, but its actually really nice decor inside. Big portions, and really a lot of flavor. I had the tofu seafood soup, and they brought me the soup and six side dishes. I thought they must have made a mistake, but nope. Every bit of it was tasty!

Aimee Aimee

Good food..very friendly staff

Kong Lee

Best Korean restaurant anywhere. Authentic Korean food along with delicious " Banchan ". Great service by the staff and super attentive owner lady. My favorite is the Seafood tofu soup and hot stone Bibimbop. You must try their Kalbi and Pork Bulgogi too. They are awesome. Highly recommend this place to foodies who want to try the real authentic Korean food.
