My wife and I had a wonderful dinner here a couple nights ago as we stayed in Charlotte. The food was relatively quick, and was clearly A Cut Above when it came to the pizza and pasta. I think we spent $38 for two dinners, two starters salads, and two drinks. Staff were friendly, and the fast casual approach to everything seemed to work quite nicely. We were impressed and would definitely come back, even with an infant

I have been here 5 times. Loved it the first 2 times but then realized it has limited options and the lines are sometimes too long and just to avoid them, you end up eating something you don't want. Once I waited 45 mins in line for pasta which was great in taste but later got food poisoning so never going there again.

One of my favorite places to go in Charlotte. I love the cool and casual vibe. My favorite employees there tend to be the bartenders....always a smile. I've enjoyed most of the food I have tried.....we often share an entree and get a side salad. The spicy citrus dressing is good (I can't remember the name of it, but you'll figure it out.)

By far, this is the best Italian food in Charlotte North Carolina. a few blocks away there is a restaurant called Angeline's, this is a very overpriced Italian restaurant with average food. Vapianos is affordable and the food is so good I probably get into that restaurant once every two weeks at least!I'm a huge fan of the fresh bread that is served with every single dish. They have fresh olive oil and vinegar with the bread! The atmosphere is also very luxurious and feels like a very upscale dining ambiance.to the owners, I appreciate your attention to detail in the atmosphere and quality of food. Your standards are excellent keep doing what you're doing I will continue being a very loyal customer! Cheers

Advice: Look up the menu before you go if you have time. Our first visit and we will be back. Each of us had a different meal. I had the Greek salad with extra feta, large portion!! Enough to share. Comes with delicious Italian bread. My husband had pasta with alfredo sauce and he liked it very much. My child had a children's pizza which was served shaped as a bunny for Easter, very cute and tastey. Casual but classy atmosphere. Cool and trendy inside. Great for couples or families with children. Nice bar area for a quick drink.

Always a fun place to visit. Its especially helpful when you have a large group with a mix of adults and children. There is something on the menu that will satisfy everyone taste. The pasta is delicious and I would recommend the Alfredo sauce. The drinks from the bar are tasty and have no complaints on those.

Solid spot for lunch, and it is fast with lots of options. Pasta, panini/sandwich options, salads, soups, etc. The concept is pretty cool. They had you a card and you swipe it when you get something and pay at checkout. I would definitely come back.

I am never disappointed after a meal at Vapiano. Now that I work in uptown Charlotte it's one of my go-to lunch spots. My favorite dishes are the chicken Caesar salad and their pesto spinach pizza. I haven't tried the pasta yet but it looks absolutely delicious!

Was extremely excited to dine here with friends for the first time after great reviews. I Ordered the pesto pasta dish which was okay but tried my friends salmon pasta & it was delightful. But let me stop right here. Special thanks to the bartender whom added an eight dollar tip on top of my tip! Didn’t think I would notice? I called the manager he researched the incident. Called me back and said it would take 3-5 business days for the tip to come back to my account for his employees actions. Never again. TAKE CASH unless you want to be robbed. It isn’t the managers fault but customer service would’ve been, here’s a meal on us! Or a nice apology from the thieving bartender! First and last experience.

Excellent food - NOT VEGAN! I ordered lunch through the Ritual app and chose an option that said “lactose-free” and did not add any extras. As you can see in the photo there is melted cheese all over the top. Ask for no cheese if you are vegan or have a dairy allergy.

Worst idea ever for "reinventing" the restaurant concept. They offer a complex and utterly nonintuitive way to serve yourself, but without the benefit of explanation. Once you figure out you have to get in line to order anything, you'll have to wait there a ridiculously long time because the chefs only prepare one thing at a time. For all this silly hassle, you'll be rewarded with some mediocre chow. The prices are low but commiserate with the quality. Also, it's very loud so conversation is difficult if the place is busy. I've suffered through two meals in this place and will never go back.

Good pizza. Average lasagna But great pasta. I got the chicken Alfredo. They have several chefs lined up like bank tellers. You step up and order then watch and talk as the chef cooks it right in front of you. The Alfredo sauce is not added, it is created in the pan while you watch. The pans look like a wok with a handle. Heat, some oil, the chicken go in. Then garlic, onions, added with butter and spices cook into the chicken. Near the end the cream, pepper, cheese, more butter. Finally the freshly cooked pasta of your choice. Stirring, the topped with freshly grated cheese, pop it in a bowl, and it's yours. Mmmmmmm.

I am organizing several happy hours for my company and when I went to look at the website for more details, it was down. Typically not a problem, I understand that happens! Well I called the restaurant to see if they could provide me any details and the two people I talked to were zero help. When I spoke to the manager, he said "I don't keep any of that info near me and I don't know anything about the website so you'll just have to keep checking to see when it comes back up"....and basically ended the conversation. It's their loss...my company happy hours are for 7 different departments and to keep things simple I typically choose the same location for all of them...so they just missed out on a lot of money.

The food is so amazing. Everytime I visit Charlotte for concerts I make time to stop by this amazing restaurant. The noodles are made there and you can taste the freshness of everything that you eat. I usually don't even like Italian food because you can just easily make everything at home but I've tried to remake some of Vapiano dishes that I've tried and failed. Such a great place.

I went for the first time this weekend and my experience was horrifying. I went the window to order my food and the chef started shouting "stand behind the line. I was like O.M.G. I get it stand behind the line but she just kept shouting and mean mugging me. I felt unsafe so I left the restaurant. Will never go back. How do treat people like that and fill that's okay.

My husband and I really enjoyed eating here. We love this place so much and there's a lot of Italian options in Charlotte, but this place is special. It has an upscale feel with medium-range pricing. You get a lot of food for what you order and the food is amazing! The bar is separate and you walk up so you don't have to wait on somebody to bring your drinks which is actually nice because table service in Charlotte can often be terrible. If this is your first time here when you walk in your given a card on which to charge your purchases. It's kind of like being back in high school. You pick a line where you want to eat and then you walk up an order and you're given a timer and when that timer goes off you walk back up and get your food. The seating arrangement is open in the front and there are lots of smaller floor level tables as you walk further in. There is higher bench type seating with lots of rows of tables throughout. The bar tenders we're always great. Desert is located at the bar also. The bathrooms were always really clean. If I had to say that there was one downside to this restaurant it would be that it is extremely loud and hard to find seating when it's packed. The floors are open and wooden so nothing really absorbs sound. Even though this is a larger place seating is still limited because most of the seating is more suited for groups. Not couples or individuals. You won't be able to find street parking so you'll have to park in a parking garage and walk to get here. Go for an early lunch or dinner and you will not be disappointed.

Vapiano was an interesting, though great experience. Their set up varied from the traditional, which was refreshing. The food is made in front of you, and the pasta is all made in house. You can taste the difference! It was also very fast, making it an easy travelers destination!

The food was pretty alright - I ordered carryout and got wonderful reusable containers. The parking however is extremely limited as it is the middle of uptown Charlotte. This is a very fancy restaurant as well, but I wouldn't say it's worth the 20$ entree unless you absolutely have the extra cash to spend.

Pizza was terrible, I can make it better at home. Got the Diavolo, was so greasy and filled with just peppers. Barely any pepperoni or onions. Even dominos and MOD is way better. Pasta was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. I don't get why they complicated the ordering process by handing out the cards, it's not like it's a buffet or something. Why not let the customer just pay with their card directly? First paying with the vapianos card and then paying with the credit card upon exit seems a little redundant and unnecessary. Won't be going here again for a while.

Afternoon visit, about 1:30 to 2pm on Thursday. Not too busy; but took a good amout of time to get up to order the pasta and risotto dishes. I think they decided the rush was over and all decided they could take brakes. Pasta and risotto was very good. Spaghetti was not quite cooked enough it seems and was a bit sticky. Will go back as food is very good, but hope they will be faster and more organized next time.

Concept is cool, but a little gimicky. To get food/drink, you get a plastic card (like a hotel room key) and tap it at the locations you pick up food. Ambiance is ok - little "italian" herbs all over for no apparent reason other than decor (was I supposed to use the basil as a garnish?? It wasn't clear.) They make pastas from scratch and the portions are huge and pretty tasty. Sauce ratio was a bit high, but definitely should have split with people instead of each of us getting our own serving. They have pizza, pasta, salads, and other entrees - all customizable. The bar is a standalone and offers alcoholic beverages, coffee, and desserts. Fountain drinks were in a different section. The bar section was understaffed for the amount of people waiting for drinks and it's silly because if you got a drink, you need to check out at that location instead of the main one. Once you are finished with your meal, you go to the main section again and checkout - can put multiple cards on a single check if needed. Reason I put less stars is because we all felt a bit sick after eating there (and there were a lot of us in the group ~9-10.)

My first visit to Vapiano was last year and I was blown away with the strawberry spinach salad and my glass of wine. But this time I ordered lasagna I discovered that it is not made fresh it is taken out the serving size tins and heated up.When I finally got it was cold inside. I do appreciate the effort to correct the wrong by the staff. I was offered to choose something else. I chose pasta with a mango curry sauce. with way to many back sesame seeds on it. The quality of food from my first visit in comparison to this time was a drastic difference. So different that I do not want to go back.

The food was unbelievably delicious! I loved it. The atmosphere of the restaurant its self was really classy and romantic feeling, but it can tend to be extremely crowded, which means you have to fight to find a seat, and wait like 30 mins for your food. It was so wonderful though I didn't care though cuz I was with friends. Definitely worth the visit though if you're in town. I've been there twice now and it's a favorite of mine. I love the salmon salad! Can't find a lot of salads these days that have enough veggies on it for me to constitute as a real salad. This was delicious

This is not your traditional Italian restaurant. However, to me it is even better. This is a food Hall style restaurant where you go to a counter and order your food and they put what you ordered on a card so when you leave you can cash out for what you owe. The quality of the food prepared is second to none. The food is even better than what you would get at an expensive sit-down restaurant. plan to spend a little bit of time in line waiting for your food but believe me it is worth the wait for fresh-made pasta.

Went to a few places around Charlotte while we were in town, most were very disappointing. Not Vapiano!!! This place is fantastic and you will definitely leave feeling you got your money’s worth. The pasta is absolutely phenomenal, you order at each station and it is prepared in front of you, super fresh tasting and delicious. Portions were very nice for the price paid, desserts were exceptional and well portioned as well. The style of this restaurant is very different but something my fiancé and I timidly enjoyed much more then we thought we would. I would highly recommend visiting anytime your in Charlotte.

This will be my last time coming to vapiano. The bartender and the manager on 9/14/19 at 5 :30pm-7:00pm gave my party of 11 people the worst customer service I've probably ever had at any restaurant. The ac unit leaked water on me and another person's food that was with me. The manager took her food and didn't even offer her anything else. The lids were too big for the cups they gave us. The staff is very anti social. U wouldn't expect a place like this to be downtown in the heart of Charlotte.

If there were more starts to give I would. First time there was 1.3.19 it was amazing. The fact that nobody interrupts while your there you order and get everything yourself. The kicker was the card you keep while your there to make your orders. So this restaurant is a very new age type of place. You have to stand in line and wait for the chefs to prepare the food of the people who got in line in front of you. Don’t be so unlucky as to stand behind ten people, it will be a Carowinds line length of time before you get to your own chef for a chance to watch them make you your dinner. The food I had was only ok for $13 and the portion was kind of small. I tried the Gorgonzola risotto and although I love all Bleu Cheeses, the flavor was awkward in this dish. It’s a concept you may want to try when it’s not busy. Lovely atmosphere and decor though.

I enjoyed going to the stations to select pasta, salad or pizza. I enjoyed the fresh pasta made and served within minutes. I enjoyed the generous and delicious salad. So why not rate this 5 stars? What I did not enjoy was the sizable (about 1.5 inches) cockroach that dropped on an employee at the register (who promptly fled in disgust) then flew over to the dessert container, from where it jumped onto me. I promptly walked outside to get the cockroach out of the restaurant. I returned to the register, paid my bill and left. Many people saw this. All were surprised that none of the staff came up to me in appreciation, to apologize, or to comp me. So, the arrival of such a healthy cockroach lowers my rating a bit. I hope this is remedied. There are decent sticky traps that don't require massive poison in a restaurant.

Price vs Quality is awesome. Pizzas are probably for 2 people, not 1. If only they didn't have long line to pasta during lunch time I would give 6 stars out of 5.

Great concept but the food preparation needs lots of improvement!! Pasta cooked very aldente also pasta is very starchy maybe pasta water not changed very often? Greek salad made with iceberg lettuce and not calamata olives also it is loaded with feta cheese. We didn't eat the pizza so not sure how it tastes.

Very energetic uptown eatery. Italian cuisine. Went for lunch. Had a calzone and Iced T. $15.00. It is busy at lunch time. The group I was with all had something different..pizza, salad,pasta and reviews were excellent.

Although, I love the pasta and pizza options, I was happy to see the non carb salad selection! However, the tables and center piece of the table, where the oil and vinegar was located could of be cleaner... Thank u over all I loved ur restaurant!

Confusing set up. Not great for family with kids. Unhelpful staff. Average food. Expensive.

This is a nice place. I liked the concept alot. I went there only once so far. Although my pasta was okay I enjoyed the overall ambience. Would definitely recommend this place if you have never been there.
