My family & I came here due to so many folks telling us how wonderful the food was. I’m Dominican myself, and thought it’d be nice to try it out. Food was not what I expected. The beans were very salty, couldn’t even finish it, the pork was cut so thick. It was awful. I didn’t even eat my food! Be aware :)

I'm Puerto Rican and love the ham and cheese empanadas. Food could come out faster but has been consistently good. Music is good on Saturday nights but it's loud. I enjoy seeing all different colors of Hispanic people having a good time together.

Not sure what happened. This place is changing for the bad. Used to be good food and good service. Now ordered a Morongo de puerco it had one piece of puerco barely inside whole and not cut into small pieces. Throughout the dominican staple.

Food is good. Service is so so. And how do u have the nerve to charge for garlic sauce which should automatically go with ur chicken. Unfortunately I probably won't be going back here for a while unless it's for takeout. I also learned how to make my own garlic sauce. Thank u YouTube.

The food was amazing. Delicious. True Dominican food. The Mangu hit the spot. I did not give it 5 stars because the waitress who brought the food wasn't very good. Needs better training. Rarely checked up on us. The music was a bit loud to the point I couldn't hear my friends. However, the food triumph over everything else.

I've been here twice. Twice horrible service! I tried to order Mofongo with shrimp but I also wanted a side of Chicharron. I was refused the chicharron! Reason: It's already in the Mofongo! The lady was rude. Needless to say, I will not be ordering from them anymore! Poor poor service...

The Worst, with it being just two ppl in there at the time they added their tip into your bill and then asks for another tip, they don't offer free refills on drinks and doesn't tell you until you see your bill where they've charged you 10 dollars just for Tea and Lemonade. I ordered chicken fajitas that doesn't come with tortillas just a lot of rice, beans and salad. The chicken was overcooked to the point it was just chewy. Only decent thing was the rice and beans. My bf got the roasted chicken and he said it was over seasoned, it came with the same sides as well. Wouldn't recommend that place to anyone

We go every Saturday for lunch good prices great food so far it has been an amazing experience they give big portions my favorite is the white rice and red beans I see other reviews that are negative but so far we are very happy hope this helps those of you who are undecided.

I've been here a couple times and tonight was BY FAR the worst service I have ever received at any resturant. Me and my husband ordered a picadera to split ($9.99 on the appetizer menu and the ONLY picadera on the menu) along with 2 sides (we were not too hungry, just looking to get a little snack). Besides the fact that our meal took over 50 min to come to the table (there was only two other groups there, and they already had their food) and that someone who got there 20 minutes AFTER us got their food 15 minutes before us, our server ignored us until we finally had to get another server to check on our meal. Cut to the tab, I notice that our picadera was charged at $20. When brought to our servers attention all she kept repeating was that she interpreted our order as us wanting two orders of the picadera and so charged us for a picadera x2 (not on the menu, nor was told to us when we ordered). We specifically stated we wanted the appetizer picadera when we originally ordered and yet we got charged what our server FELT we wanted and not what we actually ordered. I have ordered this plate EVERY time I came to Saona and received the same amount of food as I did this "x2" version, besides receiving extra tostones which I originally thought was the servers way of apologizing for ignoring us and our food taking so long. Ended up paying the full tab regardless minus a measly $5 discounted tab and left it at that since the waitress refused to fix HER mistake. Take your money and go to Punta Cana, better service, music, venue and food.

Wish I could give this restaurant zero stars but I can't. Obviously Dominican restaurants are not plentiful in the CLT area so options are limited. Called tonight to pick up and order of mondongo. I called ahead purposefully to make sure they had it available because its not your everyday soup. I was told they did. I get there to pick up my order and somehow they "ran out". They didn't offer me anything to compensate me for my time or incentivize me to return. I have been here before the food and the service has always been mediocre at best but like I said options are limited. Don't bother calling in an order because you will drive there just to find out what you ordered is not available.
