Our waitress was very nice and explained unknown items from the menu. Food was well made and our glasses were never empty.

Brad Freeman

Nice solid meal, went for a wine dinner so will go back to do the full experience

Had a wonderful dinner here. I went on a Thursday night and even though the place was at capacity busy-wise, the staff (I believe our server was Audrey) was more than helpful, taking time to make sure we were comfortable with our orders, spelling out the different menu items and giving us insightful suggestions. We had the fried chicken, duck breast, deviled eggs and fried Brussel sprouts (paired with a bohemian national and glass of Malbec, obviously). Our favorites were the entrees, both the fried chicken and duck were unreal. I am excited to go back and try the rest of the menu. JN ProTip: Thursday night special is only time they serve the fried chicken entree all week. For ~$18 you get half a chicken, cooked to utter perfection, placed atop a bed of mashed potatoes and drizzled with luscious white gravy. Pairs well with the $2 bohemian national. Also, great date spot with the decor and lighting.

Good but limited menu

That was damn good eatin'....now I sent my first vegetarian option back, but they came back with a killer alternative. Service was prompt and attentive also!

Fantastic food and drinks, but the "ambient" music really didn't fit the setting.

Food was excellent! We got the mussels, brussel sprouts, and mushrooms. The mussels were excellent served with a tasty shrimp broth and top with a large heap of fries. The brussel sprouts took us by surprise - a light hint of lemon topped with tasty pecorino cheese - WOW! The mushrooms were also excellent. They were served on top of cheesy grits. My girlfriend is not a fan of grits but noted that this is the first time that she actually liked them. Royale is a great spot for date night and we will be sure to come back soon!

Adam Hill

Hip atmosphere with excellent food and cocktails. If you like Wu-Tang and French food this is your spot.

Searing: I dined with one of my BFF here and we were seated at a 2 top that was meh (with no view of the restaurant or a window and a tall black wall next to us) even tho we made our reso well in advance. We asked for a new table and were immediately moved to an open table by a window. Food: We ordered the oyster special - 3 ways, mussels green curry, Brussel sprouts, burrata, and steak tar tar. The mussels IMO opinion were missing a spice element but I like highly spiced foods so this is a preference. The oysters were great especially the baked oysters. The rest - Brussels, burrata and tar tar were some of the BEST I’ve ever had absolutely bursting with flavor. Service: is high touch never a shortage of servers, bartenders, managers to walk or stop by at any table for anything. I will absolutely recommend (I already have) and I will be back with a larger crowd.

I guess I don't see what others see about the place. Had a decent meal, but not sure I would go back. There are lots of choices that are at least as good, if not better....

Harry Walker

Jeff is the best in town!

Charles Wispert

The mixed drinks were very good. The Arrabiata was seasoned perfectly. The trout almondine was the best I have ever have and the brown butter sauce was amazing. The service was very attentive without being bothering and the price was well worth the portions. It's a little cramped, but the atmosphere is great!

Jody McLeod

Great food If you sit in The front area it can get pretty loud. Servers weren't trained very well and didn't know the food.

Bryan King

Good food and service. Really nice atmosphere.

Carlo Williams

Went here for my wife’s birthday. We were with one other couple. Made 7pm reservations, got there early and had some good cocktails at the bar. We were sat right at 7. Good service and the prime rib, burger, brussels, Salad, wine, etc were all delicious. The only issue for the night was that at 8:30 our waitress said we needed to go the bar to make room for other people with reservations. We had spent over $250 for the night and had full drinks so it just seemed rude. Totally different if they were just running behind and offered us a drink or something to move to the bar but to just basically say, “Times up” was awkward.

chad foley

Great time here. Service was exceptional. Food was fast and delicious.i brought friends from out of town and they enjoyed it. Reservations recommended, but not required.

Service was decent, but nothing spectacular. We ran out of water on multiple occasions and they were not that busy. The appetizer was good but the trout main course dish was less than appetizing, it was oversalted and neither one of us cared to finish the meal. Ambience was nice and pleasant.

Elegant, incredibly fresh and delicious. One of the best spots in downtown Raleigh. The bruleed peaches may have been one of my favorite dishes I've had.

Adam Bowers

After just one visit, this has become one of our favorite places in downtown Raleigh. Not only was everything we ordered excellent, but towards the end of the meal, the sommelier at the restaurant brought us dessert wine (for free). (We had ordered a couple of bottles of wine, so that may have contributed to it.) The somm was both friendly and knowledgeable and really added to the dining experience overall. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also good, although it is quite small and is consequently pretty loud. I wouldn't go if you're looking for a quiet place for conversation, but otherwise don't miss an opportunity to eat here.

Matt McCall

One of our new favorite spots to eat. You have to make a reservation by email or social media request but it all went smoothly and the hostess was prompt in responding. I recommend the Oysters and Beef Wellington (served Sat only). Our waitress was also super nice, professional and knowledgeable.

Ginger Ackiss

Great spot. Tried several items and enjoyed them all.

I wanted to update my review because I ate here last night and felt so loved. If you’re worried about eating out because you’re on a keto diet- worry not. Jeff made me the BEST meal ever and was very careful not to include anything I couldn’t have. He was really excited to do it and the server who helped us was super sweet about my requests. All of us dieters know how awkward it can be when we make weird requests at restaurants- and they were beyond accommodating. Thanks for making this a stress free experience. Also- he made me the steak tartare (steak, eggs, mustard seed, little pickles) and a really yummy green salad with endive, red wine vinegar, salt and pepper, and olive oil. It was so yummy.

Melissa Ellison

I ordered the chicken. I didn't love it.. But it was okay. I Will go back ...probably order something else.

michelle cobley

Love the decor and it was the BEST chicken I’ve had in the longest time!! We also had profiterolesthat were obviously delicious. Highly recommend this cute and cozy place!!

David Shih

Came in on Saturday around 6pm. Immediately sat at bar area. Great, fast, and friendly service. Tasty cocktails and amazing burger.

Matthew Peterson

Giving Royale 5 stars does not do justice to how great of an evening I had dining there. The service was incredible, and I would especially like to thank Gwen for providing my girlfriend and I with such a special night. The food was incredibly delicious ranging from the appetizers to our entrees (the duck and steak frites) to the fresh ice cream for dessert. The cocktails were also very well crafted and tasty. The ambiance of the restaurant was great as well. Absolutely a must when dining in Raleigh!

J J Thomas

Great food and service

Jay Darcy

Awesome experience at Royale! I went with a French colleague, and even he was impressed with how authentic their French dishes were. I had the chicken wings, brussel sprouts, and duck confit; all of which were amazing. While the food was the star, their cocktails and craft beer selection were also excellent. Our server was attentive, and the atmosphere was charming. An all-around wonderful time and a restaurant I'm already looking forward to going back to.

Bernadette Eagle

Sitting here right now, hungry no food! Ordered eggs benedict,no pork, subbed bacon instead no big deal. Received my order and the eggs literally just came out of the refrigerator they were not Luke warm they were refrigerator cold! Sent back ordered burger, waitress came back and now they are out of bacon! Hoping my boyfriend can try to enjoy his brunch alone while I sit and watch him eat. We are in the industry and understand things happen sometimes but this is just to much. Won’t be back.

elizabeth gottfried

Make sure they tell (warn)you if it is restaurant when you make reservations The menu becomes extremely limited and if you have any food allergies you are out of luck The burger was very greased

Jason Meyer

Interesting menu with an eclectic flare. The appetizers were really good. I had the duck which was tasty, but the potatoes and. Eans that it sat on where a bit bland. I'd definitely try again.

Leslie Boyid

We were seated and waited on immediately. Our server made great recommendations and was very knowledgeable of all the menu items. The roasted chicken, beef Wellington, and brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly and to die for. Additionally, the music they played was amazing.

Andreas Willis

Best restaurant in downtown Raleigh! The service was top notch and the food was spectacular! We loved the peaches, heirloom tomato and manchego cheese salad. Everything was prepared to perfection. Loved the beef Wellington. The flavor combinations were unique and yet classic. Would highly recommend.

Dane Saville

The best seat in the house is directly across from the open kitchen where servers pick up food — the chefs are very kind and friendly. Jeff was at the opening while we were there, and he was great. Even gave us some insights about some of the ingredients to an amazing glaze for wings. If you are a fan of burgers, Royale could serve theirs on a bun made of soggy cardboard, and it would still be the best burger in Raleigh. It rivals the burger I had in Chicago at Au Cheval. This is a spot that if you’re in Raleigh — as a resident — I implore you to experience.

Joel A

I don’t understand why this place has a security guard. Never knew of restaurants needing one. They sent him out to move a group of us standing on the sidewalk outside.(we were playing Pokémon go minding our own business) It’s not the restaurants property it’s the city’s. Glad to know they treat people who aren’t customers like this. Don’t ever want to step inside.

Oophus Clinterus

Bistro atmosphere takes the stuffiness out of french cuisine and moderates the price. Our meal was competently prepared and the atmosphere enjoyable. What knocked off a star was the wait time, which Royale seems to have a chronic problem with.

Yung-Chun Wang

To be fair, this was an atypical day. Limited menu, due to hurricane Florence. But the burger, possibly the best in town, saves my initial experience. Which is kind of a conundrum for a proclaimed French brasserie. I will wait until I have the coveted French national dish that is the duck confit, before giving a real commentary. That said, red wine was served at an undesirable temperature. A problem that should be easily rectified.

Kendall Davis

We can't say enough great things about Royale! From the decor to the delicious food, it felt like being transported to a Paris boutique restaurant. We enjoyed the duck breast and the pork loin accompanied by "the guillotine" and "la louisiane" cocktails. As a whiskey lover I was really pleased with the latter! The duck was tender and delicious and even a bit sweet. The pork loin was a LOT of food and went great with a little extra ranch on the side. Excellent service, food, drinks, and ambiance. We'll definitely be back.

Some places use Restaurant Week to simply get people in the door. This is not Royale! Royale used Restaurant Week to showcase what a gem they are to the Raleigh food scene. My wife and I had an early dinner at Royale before seeing a show at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. Royale was participating in Restaurant Week and their menu was outstanding. My wife had the Green gazpacho, Trout and Ice cream sundae and I had the Fried brussel sprouts and Duck leg confit. We were both enthralled with the gazpacho. It had the smoothest texture of any gazpacho that we've ever had. I was equally enthralled with my brussel sprouts and blown away by the Duck leg confit. I often order duck confit at restaurants, but I have never had duck confit that was done so perfectly. The smell was amazing and the taste blew away all other duck confits that I have eaten. I will probably remember this Duck leg confit for the rest of my life. If you ever want to try a new restaurant (or simply want to visit a French-American bistro), you have to go to Royale! You will forever thank yourself for doing so.

Food is good, tiny artwork , small space, pretty loud with gangsta music on friday night

Tiffany Andrews

The host was gracious and found a place for us to eat, during a busy time. The waiter was helpful and more interested in us experiencing all the different tastes, then pushing up the bill. The Chef was friendly and from Brooklyn (which could account for the great personality!), and provided us with an additional appertizer as a gift so we wouldn't miss a treat. And the bartender made a perfect bourbon Manhattan! We had potato tots (don't be fooled into thinking they are boring), Brussel sprouts, duck foie gras (which I usually don't like) that was sliced in a batter (warm) covered with strawberries that was amazing and then the waiter recommended the cheese burger, which was just as good (though after the above I would recommend sharing). Overall, a wonderful dining experience!

Craig Capron

Incredible meal, great atmosphere, and friendly, prompt service. Recommend the mussels if you happen to be there on a Wednesday and the duck.

Paul Morrison

French food, yeah, quality stuff. bring your hunger - portions are filling. atmosphere and food reminds me of virginia beach.

Katie Taylor

The space is beautiful; the service is attentive and knowledgeable; and the food is thoughtful and creative. Love, love, love this place!

Small, intimate, very cute. Friendly and attentive wait staff. Everything we ordered was delicious, but the burger particularly stood out. They grind bacon into the beef... how can you go wrong with that?

Kimberly Farmer

Awesome menu,excellent food,wonderful staff!!!!

Patrick Henderson

The mussels were amazing.

Barbara Brijaček

Royale is a great place, we were a big party and the staff did their best to seat us at the last moment and were really responsive! They are really professional and nice. We tried a few items from the menu and all were good! I warmly recommend this :)

Justin Kasper

It's rare to get a perfect score from me. These guys nailed it on all cylinders. Grateful to have experienced this culinary phenomenon.

Jennifer Murphy

I will start by saying we'll definitely be back for the amazing cocktails, French fries, and probably to try dessert. The restaurant is very small so most of the tables are in aisles which is not very comfortable, in my opinion. We decided to sit at the bar instead. If this bothers you definitely make a reservation and ask to be by the window or in the front corner. We ordered old fashioneds and they were really well made. The bartender was at least as attentive as having a server at our own table, or more. Everyone talks about their burger so I had to order it - I found the English muffin bun dense and overwhelming and the burger was just ok. I will say it was perfectly cooked tho! Just overhyped, I think. The fries and their dipping sauce was delicious and made up for the burger for sure.

Anton Migulko

It's ok. Good pub quality food with French accent

Brittany Shumaker

Myself and my girlfriends (all over the age of 30 if that even matters) came here on a Saturday night and were told we were too loud 2 times. The last time I checked we were out on a Saturday night after 7pm. To me this seems ridiculous. It’s downtown Raleigh on a Saturday night and for anyone who knows a little bit of sound dynamics would know this is not a place to go as a “quiet” place to dine. This ruined our night and everyone around us were being just as loud. This was unacceptable in my opinion!

Daniel Block

Been back many times, consistently high bar on quality. Apps are great, brussel sprout s rule supreme.

Let me start out by saying that we went for the triangle restaurant week with a group of 6. Pros: -Appetizers were great (especially the hot hollandaise wings) -Entrees were just as good -The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice. Very modern and hip -Waiter was very friendly Cons: -The music was an odd choice as it was loud bumping rap. Eventually it was turned down or drowned out by others in the restaurant. -We were in the restaurant for 2.5 hours total so the wait time was more then expected. 20 minutes of that was our own fault waiting on friends to arrive. -Multiple times I was waiting for water (I do drink like a fish and the water cups were small) -Here is the kicker. On the Raleigh restaurant week menu there was an ice cream Sunday option for dessert. This was a terrible option to add to a menu that brings new customers into the restaurant. It was literally a scoop of ice cream with sprinkles and a few house made chips on the top. I guess it was my fault as I assumed that there would be some kind of craftyness to the dish but unfortunately there was not. Unless you really want a scoop of ice cream for 8$ then stay away from this option.

Alicia Satterwhite

Really great food and service. Music was a little too loud, but otherwise nice ambience.

Jen Ault

Honestly, I’m not sure why the reviews are so high. I went to dinner here Friday evening to celebrate. The waitress couldn’t tell me if the seafood was wild caught or farmed. And it turns out it is farmed...yuck. Not to mention $32 for farmed trout? Ridiculous. Then she cancelled the wrong dish so my partner and I had to eat separately. The drinks were good but overpriced as well as the food. The place was cold and loud. For the prices there are better places around the area. Instead of it being a nice relaxing, fun evening this was just a waste of time and money.

Jacqueline Jackson

Loved it! Delicious. Felt like I was in Paris!

Jeff Sloyer

The beef Wellington on Saturday is to die for

Heath Strickland

Low key snack spot with nice dining options. Menu changes and always for the better. The cocktails are tasty and refreshing. Staff is ever friendly. Make a rez - quaint space means it fills fast.

Outstanding experience! Delicious food, yummy cocktails, great wine and craft beer selection, friendly staff - only a few thing that make this place a MUST! Will definitely be coming back many times...

David Evanoff

Great food and great service. We did the "dealers choice" which is their tasting menu. Each plate, 13 in total, was excellent. The total service was about 2 1/2 hours which was enhanced by our lovely waitress Maya. Her enthusiasm for the food was quite notable. I Highly recommend Royale for a special occasion.

James Fleck

Easily have one of the best burgers in town. It's insane.

The food is beyond amazing. Everything is fresh, simply prepared and thoughtfully chosen. I was lucky enough to have tried the oysters- fresh and perfect. The deviled eggs-impeccable, the Brussels sprouts-the best I've had. The tartre flambe-I highly recommend this melt-in-your mouth dish! The daily crudo, tuna and it was amazing! The daily special was the fried chicken, so good and served with mac and cheese pie which i highly recommend. My main dish was the cheeseburger and the ground beef provided basically spoke for itself, I recommend this very much! Honestly I'm not an adventurous eater-hence the main dish choice I made-however you could choose anything on this menu and not be disappointed at all! Best dining experience and desserts are amazing!!!

Best dining experience we've had, hands down. We opted for the Dealer's Choice, or chef's choice, menu which was 7-8 courses of small plates. Great service, incredible food, and beautifully paced meal. The duck with cherry sauce is amazing!

We went to Royale last night, and I'm already planning our trip back!! We shared a charcuterie platter and had a few drinks. It was all amazing, the beer was high quality and local (we ordered some trophy beers) and the cocktail was one of the best I've ever had! The charcuterie leaves me at a loss for words! Excellent quality meat, prepared to perfection!!! We will be back soon, and can't wait to try the garlic soup!!

Elizabeth Lizotte-Brown

The food was excellent: loved the Brussels sprouts and the burrata tartine was well executed. The burger was terrific on a homemade English muffin and the frites were perfect. The wine list is nicely curated and what you would expect at a French place. We sat at a bar table, which was a little narrow for 3 to dine. The service was informed but not-that-friendly. All-in-all a very nice experience and I will return.

Ashley Menges

Absolutely fantastic food and super service. Best place in Raleigh. We loved it!

I tried an off the menu item. It was one of their specials for the day since they were out of their "special" for that day. It was delicious. Everyone at my table tried it and loved it. Something with chicken thigh rolled, stuffed, and baked....mmmmm. The server was helpful and explained all the unknown item and ingredients to us. Also try the orange duck wings! You won't regret it

Kuniki Tabb

This is my new "go to" spot. The food was amazing and the have bottomless mussels on Wednesdays...

Great spot for a date night! Cocktails were delicious. We ordered oysters, lemon poppy risotto, trout, and pistachio paris-brest for dessert. Everything tasted amazing, we will definitely be back!

This restuarant is awesome!! Thank you Jermaine and Eve, Royale and waitress/artist Miya!!

One word... delicious. After 3 visits and each one being amazing, I can say without doubt that you won't be disappointed. Even if you're scared of the fancy stuff, the hamburger is a life changing event.

Have been here 3 times and each time the food and service were of the highest quality. One of my favorite nice dinner spots.

Taylor Pritchard

Normally when I see a sign "French Bistro" or something of the sort, I immediately turn my thoughts to mediocre food that you could find at most other places. This place on the other hand is incredible! Truly some of the best food I've had in Raleigh. Some very interesting takes on traditional dishes as well. They have a great bar, with good top shelf selections and a creative cocktail menu. The staff are all really great and friendly.

Arthur Goudey

Absolutely stunning experience. Cocktails and food were tremendous and unique. The bartender, whom I forgot her name, was easily the most aesthetic focused bartender ever. Each drink was a work of art. Delightful

Erin Sullivan

The trout was cooked well but lacked flavor. Fortunately, the arugula salad made up for it....Also, for a French restaurant it barely had any French wine, by the glass.

Kevin Segura

We frequent Royale due to Chef Jeff being a total boss at what he does. He has created such a fun and hip atmosphere that it is quite addicting to keep coming back to Servers are hit or miss, some are amazing and some are lackluster but we always come back due to the food and not let those small things get in the way. We always leave happy!

Jenny Estes

Great service. Had jalapeño cocktail which was OK. Scallops entree was good, perfectly spiced in my opinion (which means the poblano sauce may be too spicy for some) but in my opinion overpriced ($32) for the amount of food. Partner got risotto and was good, but small portion and was left hungry. Dessert was s’mores sundae which was enjoyable and marshmallows were flamed to perfection. One complaint is that restaurant is so loud that I fear it’s an occupational health hazard for the employees working here. The restaurant should seriously consider investing in sound dampening panels. Would come back during non-peak hours, but you could have just as good of food, possibly for a cheaper price and in a more relaxed environment elsewhere downtown.

Delicious restaurant in the heart of Raleigh. Everything I had was top notch. Of course, the Brussels sprouts are not to be missed and can be a meal alone. I am not sure what they added but I could not stop eating them. My trout included a savory salad and was flavorful. Dessert with strawberries nicely completed the meal. Worth a visit in Raleigh.

Dino Morelli

Fantastic food, eat here.

Monica Weddle

We've been to Royale several times in the past two years and have loved it more with each visit. The food is top-notch, the space itself is ridiculously cool, and the playlists are off the hook (if a little loud...my one and only gripe.) The staff is fantastic - engaging, knowledgeable, passionate, and genuinely focused on creating a memorable and positive overall experience for their guests. It appears that there has been very little staff turnover since they opened, which delights this veteran server to no end. A superior experience starts with the team that creates it, which means Royale must be doing things right from the ground up.

Peter Brancato

Food is great! All you can eat mussels on wed are amazing!

Matthew Turpin

Went there on a valentine’s Date. Loved it. The New York strip is delicious. Wonderful date spot.

We went on a Thursday night for a birthday celebration and it was fabulous! We started with oysters, mussels, smoked salmon, brussel sprouts all really good! Our entrees gnocchi with smoked chicken, pork chip, chicken and everyone loved every bite! The service was fabulous , this was our second time (our waiter remembered us ) but from entering the door everyone was so welcoming. Great service, Great food , Great time!!!! One of the BEST places to eat in Raleigh!!!

Thomas Ralston

Best burger in town hands down. Chef Jeff is the best

William Edwards

While I was enjoying my burger, which was cooked perfectly, I recognized a familiar song being played. I said to my girlfriend, "this is that 'Forever Young' song. I first heard it in some skate video." The nice gentleman behind the bar chimed in to say "it was Kerry Getz's part in the DVS video." Needless to say I was impressed by the knowledge and attention to detail demonstrated by the staff. I will definitely be returning any time I am in Raleigh. Also the tartare was straight fire, def order that.

Matt Takas

Excellent food here! I had the duck breast and it was really flavorful. It paired well with the Malbec wine that I had. The food everyone else in our party got was also very good. On the upper end in terms of price, though this would be a good place for a date!

Jarrett Horne

St Mo

The best meal I have had in Raleigh in years. Everything was right, I have been here four times and never sent a thing back or disliked a single bite of food, and had some fantastic & thoughtful service The food is incredibly overpriced to the point where this is not a weekly spot and I have to eat garbage at another local restaurant or drive to Durham but I have absolutely no negatives for this location. Maybe the lack of sound panels is a negative but I tend to go on off nights.

Kyle Wray

One of the best meals i have ever had. So happy with this place. Katie was awesome! The beef Wellington was incredible and the s'mores ice cream was the deal sealer!

The service was excellent and the food was delicious.

Very special dinning excellent food and service. This place is like being in Paris or N. Y. Please try it you will like it very much.

Kevin Kirby

Normally, I really like Royale. However, during restaurant week in Raleigh, they only offered a limited menu. We would have never made a reservation if we knew that, as there was no indication on the website. The whole reason we went there is that they advertised beef Wellington (which is excellent at Royale) for Saturday's menu. During restaurant week, most other restaurants encourage a limited menu, but also offer their normal fare as well. This was not the case and the selection they did have was very underwhelming.

We were so excited to try this cute little place after walking by on our getaway to Raleigh! We made reservations and showed up that weekend ready for a wonderful evening. We were very disappointed. I will say that one star is for the yummy food, and the second for our very kind waiter who deterred us from waiting longer and switching tables to the main room and running the risk of having to deal with another disappointing staff member. Thanks to him, our night was not a complete bust. We waited about 30 minutes past our reservation time while we watched people who had later rsvp's than us come in after us and get seated (in the main room) before us. In the meantime we headed to the bar area to get some fun drinks and our night started. Bartenders at this establishment should learn a thing or two about customer service, because ignoring customers and rude personalities really don't make for a successful business. Finally we were taken to our seats, not in the main room but right next to the restrooms.... maybe the hostess forgot about us even after we checked in with her about our table twice since arriving? who knows. Even with the bartender letdown, the table arrangement, and the long wait time, our water was kind enough to keep us there, fretting that anywhere else in the restaurant with a different waiter or waitress would continue to be a night of less than mediocre service. we stuck around and had a decent time, hence the two stars. Thanks to our waiter, the chef, and no one else.

Alicia Olivier Rendu

Real French food that is also very good! I would love to go back to try more deserts!

J Stoff

Very eclectic little bistro with tons of character. At first glance, the fairly limited number of options on the menu was concerning, but everything was very well executed. It proves that you don’t need a 30-page menu to satisfy everyone at the table!

Christina Menges

Excellent isn't enough of a word to describe our experience at Royale. From the moment we walked in, the staff was so welcoming. Then we got on to the menu... Again, can't say enough. From the oysters to the steak tartare to the fois gras to the duck confit to the apertif, we couldn't stop eating and drinking and didn't want to. (Forgot to mention the chef's complimentary appetizer of house made mozzarella on toast with pesto and fresh peas! Amazing!) Unfortunately, our stomachs weren't big enough to continue. It was truly the greatest meal that we have ever had in Raleigh! Bar none. Do not miss this gem on Moore park. You will not only not be disappointed, you will be overjoyed! Thank you Maya and executive chef and staff! Keep up the great work! You represent Raleigh in the best way! ❤️, Ashley & Christina Menges

Charming little French restaurant in downtown Raleigh. I was really wowed by the exceptional service we received from Mia. I had informed her that I was vegan and she went out of her way to speak to the chef who was more than happy to make an amazing spicy chickpea curry dish which was not on the menu. The dish was incredibly delicious and should permanently be added to the menu (or send me the recipe

The food and service were both exceptional. The acoustics were beyond terrible. Although the space is quaint, you can't hear people next to you and the sound of the surrounding diners is deafening. Noise absorbing panels in the ceilings may help.

This past week I was lucky enough to try Royale for the first time. The food, of course, was the main draw. We had a selection of appetizers, alongside a entree and a desert. All were well-prepared with finely balanced flavors. The highlights of the meal, however, were definitely the garlic soup and the oysters. The garlic soup – think creamy garlic in the style of french onion – was truly an original dish. Smooth and creamy, earthy and flavorful, it rates as one of the best bowls of soup I've ever tasted. Up next were the oysters. Clearly fresh, they were served on a bed of ice and had a silky texture and just the right amount of briny, salty deliciousness. All of this was beautifully accented by the cucumber vinaigrette, a perfect if unexpected accompaniment to these freshly-shucked beauties. Up next for praise is the wait staff – all highly professional, attentive but not overbearing – who all contributed to creating a relaxed, fine-dining experience. A special shout out to our waiter, Erica, whose knowledge of the menu and ability to suggest food, wine, and food-drink pairings was first-rate. Her friendliness and expertise truly took the meal from fantastic to truly spectacular. We'll definitely be going back to Royale in the future, as well as recommending it to all friends to check out over the holiday season.

Went on 3/1/19. The special for the night was this amazing pork chop with a french onion demi-glaze over cheesy polenta. It was also topped with grilled/charred green onion. I AM STILL THINKING ABOUT THIS DISH. I would love for it to be a part of the normal menu, if it was, I'd go once a week. Bartender was also really great.
