Overall experience was good. I orderd the nachos..I'll probably not get those again. They were dry, I had to order extra cheese and they left off the bacon so I had to get a side brought out to add on myself. Waitress was nice!

Good food and great service. We’ve been meaning to try this place for a while but hadn’t had the chance and luckily it came up. To kind of mix it up, we got the app sampler and sandwiches. Even though it was 1.5hrs from closing, the food was fresh and well seasoned. Will definitely go back to try more items from the menu

Don’t waste your money!! I only went because I had a Groupon and wanted to try a new place. We went on a Sunday. Only a handful of people there. Noticed a thick layer of dust on the fixtures. My son ordered calamari which was extremely over cooked! My daughter’s $21 entree was so dry she had to request additional sauce. Way overpriced! With a $20 savings from Groupon I still spent over $50!! You’re better off at Al Paca or Tropical Picken Chicken!!

Very disappointed in this restaurant. We went in and there were minimal goers - which was the first red flag. The person who sat us, was also our waitress, was not personable or friendly at all. We then, told her that it was our friends birthday and her response was “I’m sure we can find a candle” Menu was nothing like it was online. Dirty and booths are very uncomfortable. After 2-3 rude interactions with waitress we decided to not dine here. Very disappointed.

If we could give them zero stars, we would. We sat for 55 minutes waiting on 2 drinks, 1 shot, empanadas, salad, black bean soup, and yuca. As we watched many other tables get served who were seated 15-30 minutes after us, we finally got 2 watered down drinks (thus the need for a shot), and 3 empanadas that appeared to be thrown onto a plate without garnish and the plate primarily empty. We then left. If you are looking for horrible service, watery drinks, and microwave-tasting empanadas, this is your restaurant. (And yep, they charged us.)

Dont waste your time coming here. I was super excited to go here because im Colombian. Well I went during mother’s day buffet. Unable to order from the menu. Drove 1 hr and 30 mins for this place, the only Colombian food was gone food was not hot was pretty much cold. When getting up to get my food they sat another group at our table, when I told them to make the manager aware he advised he “would take care of us” never came back to speak with us and saw no discounts on our bill. Food sucked, service sucked. Waste of time and they need to organize themselves alot better if not stop having these buffets and brunches because they were clearly all over the place the waitress barely came to check on us. 0 stars in my book.

Service was bad and the food was bad. They brought us our food after a long wait. The chicken wings we ordered were overcooked and didn't taste good. Same with steak tacos. The server missed and brought incorrectly several of our orders. The food we ordered was not what was represented in the menu. Will not go back to this place ever.

Food is delicious, a little over priced, but delicious, the only reason I don't give this restaurant a 5 star is because their service. It is not profesional, even my server was very nice they are not great servers, I had to ask for an extra plate three times, I have to ask for water refills, the first time I asked for water refills, this other girl that was helping took my glass and brought me somebody else's glass with other drink in it. Bathrooms can use a little bit more attention. Take that smell out of it. Other than that be prepared to get blown out for this delicious Caribbean food flavor.

The waiter we had was excellent...even though it was his second day. (Sorry for not remembering his name) I had the chicken sandwich... it was a bit on the bland side but the fries were cooked well. My wife had the salad and said she enjoyed it. The only bad spots was the poor lighting and the guy who came from downstairs to bring is our food was very short and dismissive, and when asked about the dressing for the salad he didn't know and seemed annoyed that he had to find out and get the dressing..Our waiter was Johnny on the spot and knew the dressings and got them for my wife. So was an ok lunch date. Just a bad shift for that guy I guess.

This place is nasty if you love Spanish food definitely don’t come here. I went last night and boy do I regret spending 65 bucks on some nasty dry chicken. I love food and I don’t mind spending 50-100 bucks if the food is worth it but here over priced and nasty will never walk into this place again. Wish it had negative starts they would get like a -10 starts. Then we go to the staff messed up my order 3x like you have only one job to take customer orders and you mess up 3x then get mad and start to argue with me. I know what I asked for. Should’ve went to Texas Roadhouse they have amazing food.

We waited at the door 15 min on a Tuesday evening when they definitely weren't that busy. They saw us and said/did nothing. No sign that said to either seat ourselves or wait for someone. After we got tired of waiting (and instead of walking out) we chose a random table (because there were plenty to choose from) and sat ourselves. I had to wipe the table down myself. I might as well have worked there because I was a hostess and a waitress in less than 5 min. Finally the bartender gave us menus after we sat at our chosen table for another 5 min. They should definitely have much better customer service with their unattractive sanitation score of 91.0.

Gross food! RIP OFF! $160 worth of moldy avocados, sandwiches were floating in grease and un-edible. The meat in them my daughters spit out, it tasted so bad. My tiny frizzle of steak was dried up and old, the sausage was so crusty I couldn't eat it, and included dried pieces of un-edible lard. We waited for an hour and ahalf for our food, and it wasn't busy at all. The ONLY edible part of our dinner was the Mac and cheese my two young ones got. Everything else was old and swimming in grease or crustified. DONT EAT HERE. I wanted to talk to a manager afterwards, but we were already late for an appointment. Horrible.

Just drinks this afternoon. Friday, mid-afternoon. Haven't eaten here before but the menu looks very authentic Latin. A little disappointed by the alcohol availability. Out of Captain Morgan spiced rum at a Latin bar / restaurant on a Friday. ☹️

If I could give negative stars, I would. We had lunch here and were literally the only customers in the restaurant and yet it still took over 30 minutes to get our food. When we did, they forgot to bring spoons with our soup, which was not even hot- it was room temperature, they forgot to bring salad and 2 sides that came with our meals. The food they served was no longer hot, and very dry, like it was sitting there a while before they brought it out. In fact, the bun on my sister's sandwich was even burnt. Further, on the soup, they charged for a bowl ($6) but only served us a side of soup, which is about a half cup and should've been included in the meal since it was the side. To add insult to injury, a couple days later I noticed they double-charged my credit card (approx $85) so I paid twice for this horrid service and meal! Now I'm having to take this up with the restaurant and eventually file a dispute with my bank to get one of the charges refunded. I'm surprised this place is still in business!

It isn't often that you come across a place that has food that looks like the pictures. Their presentation and food gets a 4.5. BUT THEIR SERVICE WAS AWFUL. We were sat and we had to ask the hostess, 20 mins later, where our server was. Turns out it was the same woman that sent us to the hostess stand to get sat. The hostess brought our water. We ordered our entrees and my fiance ordered an adult beverage. It was another 15 mins before that came...after asking about it a second time. The food was VERY good, but the service, at least for US, was questionable.

EPIC DISAPPOINTMENT!!!! Took my wife out on a very special night spent over $150 and the food was absolutely horrible not fresh and on top of that they want to charge you extra money to stay and listen to music. I absolutely do not recommend this place..

Wanted to like this place with great decor and a great menu. However, service was very poor for Sunday brunch. They didn't even have coffee ready. They messed up the orders and one person in our party didn't get the correct dish until everyone else was done. Servers seemed to avoid our table all together. They got the orders wrong and the food was not very flavorful. The cuts of meat were also rather tough. The beef empanadas were not great and the beef tasted old. The tostones and fried chicken were pretty good. Overall, very disappointing. Don't judge Latin food by this place.

Theur prices are too expensive and the quality of food is not 5 star!...Took my girls there for a quick lunch and my bill came up to $42. They charged me $6.00 for a small cup of guacamole & $3.25 for a kids soda. Maybe it's best to come when they have Specials after 4pm & Friday nights when they make room for you to dance:/

I went here last week and the service was average (although our order was delayed due to a mixup in the kitchen), but I wanted to give another chance because not every day is the same...but yesterday was the worst. I invited some friends and family s and the food was good...however customer service was awful. Such a good place with bad management. I had to ask several times to get us utensils after our food arrived, the drinks took forever to arrived, we didn't get the attention a customer deserves. And on top of that the place was not pack full when we arrived.

No time for good customer service apparently. Bar is overpriced. And is connected to Crabtree mall so super overcrowded, good luck with parking! 4 of us went to the special Puerto Rican brunch today and were wonderfully surprised for the experience we all enjoyed. The place was crowded, but the food was we amazing, always refilled and served by staff members. Although extremely busy, the owner stopped by our table, while helping to ean off tables, to see how we were doing and if we enjoyed the food. Our server, Angel, was very attentive and provided great service. The extremely charming and personable Manager, Jeb, also stopped by our table to chat and wanted to make sure we were happy. All of the staff seemed happy and not flustered at all. This is how restaurants can succeed. I, for one, appreciate so much effort put forth in customer service and attention to details. This was our first visit, although we had dined several times at their previous restaurants, and always thought the food was amazing, we are happy to see the growth and new energy put into Red Monkey. This is one of my new favorites and will definitely be back. We already made reservations for Father's Day Brunch. Great job Red Monkey.

If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. I have worked in the food industry and customer service industry for over a decade. NEVER have I ever had a worse experience than I did here. It was a friends birthday and we decided to go here due to the long waits at surrounding places ( now I know why there was not one here).We arrived at 8:50 and were unable to leave until after 11 pm. The waiter completely screwed our orders up, the food took over an hour to come out after we got appetizers, and when it did arrive over half our plates were cold (not even warm COLD). I tried to discuss this with the owner, who immediately got defensive and yelled at me. We finally sent a majority of the food back and asked for our checks. It took 45 minutes to get our checks. This is due to the fact that the owner very obviously did not care that we were sitting and waiting and was running around trying to set up for a band/ flirt with women/ and high five all his bros. It was very obvious getting us out of an already awful experience was not on his agenda. Then when the waiter finally brought the checks they we wrong! I could go on and on about the many things wrong with this business including several health code violations but I wont. The food is overpriced and much of it obviously came from a cheap vendor. if you want authentic Latin cuisine this is not the place to go. It completely ruined our evening and my friends birthday as we spent the entire night here for nothing.

I have been to the Red Monkey before. Service and food was amazing BUT today of all days .. my sons graduation .. I made reservations for a party of 9. We have been looking forward to today 6/10/19 for weeks. My mother-in-law my mother and my niece visiting from NJ came and couldn’t wait to have some Latin food. I’ve been living here 3 years and it was the only place I could find that served authentic food like back home. We all arrive and there was a sign on the door that they are closed. Gentleman comes to the door and gives us a lame excuse that they are doing their “annual cleaning” . I’m sorry but I’ve worked in restaurants before and “annual cleaning” is done in the overnight hours. NOT when you have a party of 9 on a random Monday. My son was so disappointed because he looked forward to enjoying family time and celebrating his graduation. This was a total embarrassment. Not one phone call nor email was made to advise us of this issue. Red Monkey I am so disappointed in the lack of consideration. I hope to someone has the decency to give us a cal or give us an apology and a reason why of al days it would close. Who I feel upset about is my son. He was so upset to not have the celebration we have planned for weeks. Shame on you Red Monkey!

Atmosphere is great. Not sure if she was the manager but that lady was super nice, she was the one who showed us the table. We ordered only drinks and dessert, they were great. We were looking forward for a great time and we did, the only thing is that the music was a little off. Wish the DJ played more diversity.Most of the songs didn’t really had rhythm. The Service Was TERRIBLE. The Hostess Told Us It Would Take An 1 1/2 To Get A Table, And Then Her AND Her Boss Forgot To Text Us. Then, When We Finally Got Our Table, Our Waitresses Kept Forgetting What We Got, It Took Them 10 Minutes To Get Me My Drink Even Though I Told Them My Drink Order With Everyone Else. Then, It Took Them Forever And 17 Years To Bring Out Checks And When They Thought Of It They Didn’t Even Have It Ready. They Had To Basically Retake Our Order. So When We Paid, They Were Trying To Keep My Friends Change Because “We Don’t Have Change So We Dont Give Out Exact Change.” If Something Wasn’t Said, They Would’ve Kept Her Change As If They Didn’t Already Add The Tip Into Our Checks. I am a person who’s very picky with the Spanish food places I choose to eat at but this one place I did pick to eat at was truly amazing the place is nice and clean the waiter I had kept on top of everything and the food was simply amazing the pork was cooked just right the beans had a hint of salsa in it which was new for me the yellow rice wasn’t dry and tasted great and the plantains were so sweet I loved everything I would come back again and I would recommend to my family and friends 5 stars all day. Red monkey is under new ownership, and it reflects in there food. They obviously don't have a chef, but have cook and the food quality is awful. The food is real cheap and typical low cost Mexican garbage. Don't waste your money, the cheesecake factory has better latin food.

I believe in second chances and this was my second and last time here. The first time wasn't even subpar and nor was this second experience. 1, when ordering and asking for a substitution of a side item I should not be told "we are busy tonight so I don't think the kitchen can handle it and it probably won't come out right". Understandably it's Saturday night but you have empty tables and Cheesecake Factory has a line out the door and they handle crowds way better, give me another excuse. Secondly, my chicken, asparagus and mashed potatoes were all bland and dry. No seasoning whatsoever. Out of the package and on the plate. All this meanwhile the Manager seemed to give the table next to us extra special attention and liquor. I regret spending $50 there as I could've went to Chick Fil A in the food court and had a way better experience.

I don't usually care to leave reviews and I like to be understanding but this place was truly awful. Service was pretty bad, the server was nice though. Food came out about 50 minutes after we ordered; waitress was nowhere to be seen for the entirety of the time. My girlfriend's steak came out very cold and tasted like nothing; mine the same. Definitely will not be going back. Avoid if you can.

If you are looking for a place to just go wound down from the hustle and bustle of the day and life while eating some delicious food and drinking whatever you like since this place has bar, then look no further, Red Monkey is your place. I went during lunchtime which is 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM and it was not crowded and the atmosphere is so serene and quiet. It was the perfect place for some ME TIME and I ordered from their lunch menu which has meals under $15.00. I ordered their soup and it was out of this world and their WINGS are to DIE FOR literally. You can get 8 for $10 and they are jumbo too or 14 for $16 in THAI which is one of my favorites or Buffalo, BBQ, or Jerk. I promise you that you will not be disappointed!! Also grab a Groupon coupon which gives you $20 worth of food for only $10. My meal came to $22.19 and I walked away paying 54 cents

I made the mistake of sitting in the downstairs area. The one person working the bar and tables basically ignored me. He finally asked if I was waiting for something. I said, I was waiting to order. I don't know what he thought I said, but he never even gave me a menu. I left and went upstairs where I received excellent service. The food was good. I did complain to the manager before I left. I would go again, but I will not go downstairs.

I was disappointed from the moment we walked in the door. I don't get to the mall much, however, I thought, I would go through the door closest to the parking lot, to enter the establishment. The Matradee was located on the other end, through the mall entrance. So, we walked through the restaurant and was told, that we were seated downstairs. Okay, so, we were escorted down the steps, and was seated in a little area created under the steps. This was right next to the Belks store, in the middle of everyone, just walking around doing their own thing. Nothing, I mean Nothing romantic about this atmosphere! The waitress brought us water and menu's to look at. When I opened up my menu, it was stuck together, with some type of red sauce, Yuck! I tried to find something on the menu, that I wanted to eat, and it was a no go. For all the radio time, and what they were having and charging for St. Valentine's day, it was a waste of time. However, the music sounded great!

Interesting and diverse collection of art. Incredible outdoor park with plenty of walking trails and beautiful nature. We went to the cafe for brunch and it was one of the better dining experiences of my life. The eggs Benedict were divine.

It’s very clear why they needed a Groupon to get people in the door. We dine out at least three or four times a week. I had never been there and wanted to try it out while we were at the mall. There were maybe 10 tables with people and the rest were empty. We waited over 20 minutes for drinks and my daughter’s children’s meal came out with (very) stale bread and apple slices that were brown and inedible. I explained to the manager we were very disappointed. She looked completely disinterested and almost mad I was voicing my concerns. I wish the staff cared and they had more quality control. They probably won’t be there much longer. I don’t care about a discount on my meal and refused to use the Groupon and will not be back.

We had a cupon and decided to check the place out. Honestly the food was edible but not great. But we were extremely disappointed when they refused to honor thier advertising. The woman stated she was the owner and bought the place 2 years ago so the cupon was from the old owner. The cupon states it is valid through 12/31/2019 they are published annually. So if she owned the place for 2 years it wasn't done by the previous owner. At one point she even used the f word towards us. Based on the quality of the food the inaccuracies in my order and the conversation with the person identified by the server as a manager but self identified as the owner we definitely won't be returning.

A great friend of my cousin who used to work here Chris recommended this restaurant to us. It was very delicious, on time, and everyone in the facility was very pleasant. I understand it was very busy the night I came, but my waitress served me the best way she could.

So I was in the boring mall Sunday and heard some loud Latin music as I got closer to the end at Belk. There was a live Salsa band in Red Monkey...sounded like Little Havana. It was great...I went in there for the first time...people were dancing, music blasting, dark intimate atmosphere, good scene. They're kinda proud of their tiny Bacardi Rum n Coke but consider it a cover for the band. Not sure if this happens every Sunday but it should. Check it out.

the food was HORRIBLE. 1st - They took forever to bring the food to our table. 2nd- when it finally came the food was cold and It literally tasted like it had been microwaved.!!! My rice tasted old not like a fresh made rice. My steak had no flavor. I also ordered beef alcapurrias as described on the menu and they brought us fish alcapurrias and one of us ( table of 10) was actually allergic to sea food! and I had my new born baby with me and I needed to change her diaper so I went to the ladies room and the diaper change station was disgusting! I ended up going to the bathroom in Belks instead because it was just so dirty. I must say the servers and all of the employees were very polite and nice BUT that still does not make up for the food or bathroom! The food is Definitely over priced!! Not worth it AT ALL None of us will ever go back to eat there.

Food was actually pretty good but service is the reason for my rating. Great atmosphere and the place is beautifully themed. It took nearly 10 minutes of waiting for a refill that we had to ask for one, and another 8 minutes just to get that. Bathroom didn't look bad but the awkward crack you find in bathroom stalls was positioned directly toward the sink and you can nearly make eye contact with anyone else in the bathroom washing their hands. Also had to clean all the splatters of pee off the toilet seat. 3.5

Really Good Food, but this restaurant truly needs some help. The server I had today was horrible. Server was rude and unknowledgeable of anything on the menu. Ordered an appetizer, it came out with my meal and the server acted like it wasn't a problem. Didn't even apologize when I complained. She also never checked on us when the food arrived. The food was good, but cold. I do love the food here, but I never have good service. Co-workers where eating right next to us and were loud. Very disorganized.

I don't remember it being a more Latin Restaurant the last time I been (which was yrs) so I didn't know what exactly to get. I tried to get the plainest thing which was a pulled pork sandwich(which was pretty good) I just didn't like the lighting in there. It's pretty dim especially if you would bring older people, they'll have a hard time seeing the menu

1st visit... Good latin cuisine. They secretly tried charging things we didnt have. And a staff there had an attitude "you can sit here, if youre a paying customer". "Im not even on your table". My reciept said it all! Hopefully the next time, I'll get a better experience (not really excited to go back though).

Morgan our server was very efficient, pleasant and such a sweet person. We had a bachelorette party of 18 persons and he was excellent. The food was great and the atmosphere was perfect for our occasion. We called short notice and they quickly set up to accommodate us. I'd visit Red Monkey anytime!!!!!

Absolutely love the food here! Lauren was our server and she was fantastic. Shrimp and grits was amazing. The sweet plantains were SOOOO good! I will definitely be back again! We also ordered two desserts for the table, and everything was so delicious and looks amazing. Such a great experience.

So I've passed this place pretty often and seen it from the mall and parking lot. I checked the reviews awhile ago and saw it was like 3.4 stars and was like "meh". But, today, we just went in because we were in the mall and hungry so that's what you do, right? It was a random Friday afternoon but we were sat right away. Our waiter was really funny and personable. I ordered a water and mojo chicken tostones. My Puertorican date got pulled pork mofongo. Funnily, we got our food before our drinks. I really liked my mojo tostones. The tostones were cooked well and the right crispiness/softness, and the avocado/lime/cilantro/onion mixture on top of the tostones with the shredded chicken were so great! It was full of flavor. The avocado mixture was so good I will return just for that!! My date, from Puerto Rico, really liked the flavor of her mofongo but said (which I agree with) it was wayyy too liquidy, it was like mofongo soup. Again I stress it tastes really good, but the pure butter/oil/garlic covering the bottom of the plate was too much. My rice was a little overcooked, but again tasted good. The decor was confusing, I'm not sure what they're really going for, but it was cool. I liked the colors and chairs and the lights. The dimness gave a good atmosphere of cool, low light too.

This place doesn't deserve one star. We were promptly seated, and waited 15 minutes to be waited on. Other groups came in after us and were waited on before us. So we got up and left. I told the "manager" about it and her exact words were "fantastic! We will address that." what an idiot. Won't be going back.

The service and food at this establishment is the worst I’ve ever experienced. My food was room temperature (or as the owner would say “luke warm”) the bread from the turkey sandwich was ROCK hard. They forgot to put the cheese on it (that we asked for) and mayonnaise. The kids wings didn’t have ranch I had to get up to grab silverware from another table. We had to ask for drink refills. The list just goes on and on. The waitress “huffed” at us when we asked for drink refill. And then to top it off when I asked for the Manager. The OWNER comes out and his attitude was worse then the waitress. When I proceeded to tell him that my chicken was cold, not only did he try to argue with me and tell me it wasn’t but he snatched my plate off my table. WORST SERVICE AND FOOD ON THE PLANET. NEVER EVER EAT AT RED MONKEY IN RALEIGH NC.

12/7..I had my daughter graduation dinner and it was awesome. This is our 3rd time going there for a celebration. I'm always satisfied with the food and service. Randy and his staff are very nice and friendly and made sure we were all taken care of. The food and drinks were great. I would definitely recommend Red Monkey for dinner, large or smaill . Thank you guys for making this evening enjoyable for my daughter college graduation dinner.

Second and last time here. Randomly stopped here for a business dinner but should have checked reviews beforehand. Brad, our server, was attentive and helpful but the quality of the food was bad. I want hash all the details of my chicken dish but it was dry, overcooked chicken, flavors didn’t mesh well. I drank 4 glasses of drink just to get half my meal to pass and left the rest. Sorry to say but find something in the food court if you want edible food in the mall.

I went for the first time today and the service was horrible. The waitress Nicola gave a bad service, she wrote it wrong the order. The manager Christian (long hair, white) unprofessional, treated us badly and did not even apologize to me or my friends. The food was cold, my friend paid an order that was to take and she left there because it was in poor condition. AGAIN, the manager is disrespectful and without manners. I do not go back to that place.

Was very disappointed in the service and food, although if you must try it, the chicken nachos were good. It took over an hour after ordering for our dishes to arrive and a drink order placed at the same time as the food did not arrive until the waiter finally came back to refill the empty water glasses and we had to ask about it. I assume he forgot to put the order in. The food came out and lacked flavor and was cold. We asked to speak with the owner and he raised his voice saying that the food will only be discounted 50% when some of the party said no we are returning these. He mentioned he can reheat and re season the food which I feel is against health code?
