Had a party of like 20. We got to meet the owners which were lovly people. The staff was friendly. Atmosphere was nice. It was quite empty which we didnt mind. I believe the ONLY thing was that the food wasnt good. I couldn't finish my food it had wayyyyy to much sauce, my sis in law had to switch her plate cuz she didnt like it and still she wasnt happy and some of the others in the party also mentioned that the food wasnt as good. Maybe the chef was a newby...

Had dinner at Rania's tonite with my neighbor. The food was incredible, as was the service. We both had a wonderful relaxing dining experience. The live piano music was just as enjoyable as our meal. We will definitely be back soon!

This is actually a pretty classy restaurant. Our waiter could have been a little bit more animated, but I'm sure he was trying his best. The specials are pretty good I should have ordered the prime rib medium rare though, it seemed overcooked and tough. Probably not their fault though I should have eaten it first. overall a good experience, the piano music is a nice accent. it was fun sitting at the table trying to figure out the old show tunes he was playing, and 70s easy listening music, pretty cool. if you go there to eat make sure you have time because this is the place you're going to want to just stretch out relax and take your time. Tip well, they do a good job.

Great Italian food done right. Both of our meals were very good. I had the Linguini Carbonara with Shrimp. The shrimp was very tender and the sauce was great. Julie had Classic Meat Lasagna which was excellent and way more than she could eat. Wish we lived closer, would like to try the seafood selections and the Prime Rib special on the weekend.

Went to Ranias tonight for a financial seminar. I had the salmon over spinach with a side of seasoned rice. Salmon was fresh and moist, not frozen. Excellent meal and great service! Owner very hospitable. Well done! Alice Martin

I went here with my prom group. We got there earlier than our reservation, and they seated us. We got our drinks after a short while, but it wasn't in an unreasonable time. Then, we got some breadsticks, which were pretty good. However, they did not last us the roughly two hours we had to wait before we received our food. It was our waitress's first day apparently. Finally, a person who I think was the owner had to come out and retake our orders. My friends, who ordered a four-course meal, got three of their courses at the same time, and the group appetizer arrived with the rest of the food. In fact, the woman I thought was the owner informed us that the four course meal was not available except on certain days, but because we had such a long wait, she allowed them to buy it. For the slow service we did not get a discount. Actually, the bills were mixed up, so we're not really sure if we got a discount or overpaid because no one seemed to be able to total up how much we owed.There were four of us and at the beginning we said who was with whom, but all of the tickets were separate. Somehow, my friend ended up with my ticket and the guy I went with got only his ticket, and we thought that was it and paid. Then, they came back and explained, but there was some sort of confusion with how much was given before hand. However, the salad and creme brule I got were both pretty good. Also, the pianist was amazing.

This first and last time my family and I will eat here! First thing the tea was awful so I got the waiter to bring some mellow yellow and it tasted like liquor. We order the trip of food to have the full experience and it was awful also. So bad we didn't even finish it.

My husband and I chose to eat at Rania's on Feb. 25 to celebrate our 42nd anniversary. We live in Salem and chose this restaurant b/c we had eaten there once before, had the prime rib with rosemary sauce, and really enjoyed it. However, we found the employees to be unfriendly, not rude, just not friendly. As we began to eat we noticed the "steak" was a white meat like pork chops and tasted like pork. The sauce just helped cover it. While the food was good it was not what we ordered and we were disappointed in our anniversary day meal. My husband does not want to eat there anymore and did not like paying 40.00 plus dollars for pork loin. So hate giving a bad review but felt we should share our experience with the owner so that this won't happen again. Diane Wright

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is excellent; I especially like the authentic Italian marinara sauce served with the bread sticks. The service is good and the staff friendly, although this is probably not the place to eat when you're in a hurry--it's for leisurely dining. One of my favorite light meals is the tomato soup with crab meat on top with a salad or mixed veggies on the side. Update: For lunch today 10/23/17, I had a special "chicken tips" dish with beans and rice that was wonderful! The sauce on the chicken and vegetables was like a mole sauce, very tasty. The beans and rice were not ordinary - they were also quite good.

I do not understand those who have given this place such high reviews. The food was terrible. Had 3 huge chicken filets and hardly any noodles. I've never had alfredo dishes with so little pasta, nor that would need salt. We waited an hour for our lunch. Hardly anyone was in the restaurant (they take reservations but not sure why).

The most disgusting good I have ever had. This is not a classy place as the description implies. It's tacky and horrible. I have literally never walked out of a place and I thought i had had bad food before. But this place takes the cake. I honestly hope none of you are duped by the good reviews(how???) It is honestly god awful and I would never ever eat here. Not even if I had fasted for two months. Wouldn't even give it to my dog.

Service was exceptional. The appetizer of tiny bread loaves with a garlicky marinara sauce was addictive. I had a delicious lunch special of tender beef tips in a savory sauce with peppers and mushrooms, and enough left over for another meal. The restaurant is dark, but cozy and reminiscent of traditional Italian restaurants.

Party of 20 was booked to celebrate my son graduating. The service was TERRIBLE!!! The food was not good. The waitress did not know the menu. All the food came out at different times if it came at all. Rania's used to be so good I'm not sure what happened. The wait staff seemed frustrated and bothered. We were highly disappointed.

Only visited twice yet so can't say a whole lot. However they seem one of the better ambience places in Martinsville. Again I've had food only twice and it was satisfactory (towards good) both times (I'm not a big fan of Italian cuisine so satisfactory is a compliment). One thing to try here would be the Egyptian bread.

The food was horrible yesterday and for what I ordered to say it was over priced is an understatement. Started with a shrimp cocktail and the shrimp was tasteless and seemed as though it had been just thawed filled with water and horrible. I know how to cook and this was not good food!!!!! Enjoyed the bread and Tea only 1 star for that. I've been there before and my experience wasn't as bad but yesterday convinced me I will never go back!!!

Interesting menu with a combination of Italian, southwest and American obviously prepared using either frozen entrees or something out of a box from US Foods. The salad was good and the bread was ok with the herb butter but the marinara sauce is obviously mass prepared by the 55 gallon drum. The wife’s spaghetti came swimming in water and covered with the same sauce as was with the bread. I ordered lasagna. Not sure when using ziti noodles for lasagna came into being but it was a disappointment. To be fair, our waitress was good. Kept the drinks full and took good care of us. Decor is confusing as hell. Little bit of 70’s diner, little bit of mid-class Italian with a disco ball and a wagon wheel on the wall. If this is the best Martinsville has to offer, someone should open a restaurant in town.

First, the bread and marinara sauce is amazing. It has a nice wine taste about it. The different regional fanfare options are nice for when you don't know if you want American, Latin, Italian or others. The steaks are really good and the chicken curry is amazing! Huge pasta selection that is authentic tasting. Has a high end appeal inside but it is a laid back atmosphere. Weekend nights they have a live pianist, and he is very good! Adds that nice romantic touch.

Over priced for amount of food and quality. I got the baked ziti with shrimp. Ziti tasted off. Shrimp was over cooked and was not cleaned properly before being cooked. Still had poop shoot that they tried to pass off for oregano. I know the difference. I ended up sick off two bites and two shrimp. My fiancee had spaghetti and meat balls. The sauce had little flavor meat balls over cooked and dry. Bright side service was excellent and bread with sauce was as well. Though the bread and marinara did give us high expectations.
