I brought my girlfriend for a date because she loves Mexican food. Somehow they made the atmosphere and experience very romantic, which is hard to do at a Mexican restaurant. Only other thing I could have asked for was more candlelight and rose pedals!

My husband and I stop here every time we travel south from PA to NC or GA, and then again on the return trip. It's a nice midway stop and we always enjoy our meal. We love the salsa and usually have beef chimichangas. We have tried other entrees and like them, too. We were there March 21 and our server was Maria Ana. When we told her that we stop here on each trip she brought out fried ice cream on the house! What a nice gesture. We told her we'd be back in the next 6 months or so!

My family and friends (about 30 of us!!) had an EXCELLENT experience at the Pancho Villa on Plantation Drive/Warrenton Road on 17 this past Sunday. I booked my gender reveal with the manager, Reuben, About a week prior to the event. The staff was quick, courteous, and efficient. They were well organized will all the orders and tabs. The food was brought out quickly, was accurate, and AMAZING! Drinks, chips n salsa were kept refilled. Everyone in my group was pleased with the service!!! FIVE STAR SERVICE!! I’d highly recommend this place for your special event!!

The service was great, the food was awesome but the manager cut me off literally after a half of a beer after it got spilled. I cleaned up the mess and thanked the server for bringing me more napkins and when she gave me the bill I asked to see the manager. Not only did he refuse to approach me. I had to confront him. He also wouldnt look at me when I asked him why I was cut off. In my opinion it was extremely poor manners and professionalism on his part. Will not be back again and will definitely tell friends.

The place is decorated as a good Mexican restaurant should be, the lighting was almost too dim in our booth to read the menu. The salsa that came with the chips was watery and lacked spice. Asked if there was a hotter salsa and was told there was for and additional $2 PER DISH WHICH WAS ABOUT 4 OZ AND SO HOT YOU COULDNT EAT IT. I have eaten in 100s of Mexican spots and have NEVER BEEN CHARGED FOR EXTRA SALSA. The shredded beef was good, plentiful and flavorful. They serve draft beer with a slice of orange.... wierd. Our waiter was outstanding. Won't be going back for reasons above and the food was OK, but a long way from great. The hunt continues for a good Mexican place here in Jacksonville.

Use to love coming to this place. The last few months the service and the food have gone down hill. Came today on Father's Day and they weren't busy but took our server forever to come to the table. Ordered a margarita and a shot but took 30 minutes to arrive. They were out of guacamole and carnes asada. The salsa was horrible today. We went for Mother's day, I took my wife and mother-in-law out. My wife ordered a seafood burrito, and she found a band-aid in it. The manager did admit that the cooks weren't wearing gloves when making our food. We left and didnt eat anything. Its definitely an experience we didn't forget.

Honestly, just an average Mexican place. We went right after they opened. The chips they bring to the table and in the nachos were kind of hard, and their tea is almost see through. The food was ok besides that, but I've eaten at much cheaper and better places in the area. Not bad, but not great.

Great food and experience at this particular location. Unfortunately the only other location that has matched the food taste and quality is the Stafford Rt 610 location closest to 95. One of my absolute favorites to visit! If you've been to other locations and have been disappointed, give this one a chance. Though it confuses me how others can be so horrible in the same chain, somehow they are. So do not consider this review as a positive review of other locations.

This was not our usually the Pancho Villa that we go too. That one In Central Park and mysteriously colsed o e day. The Margarita chicken and shrimp was dry. The complementary chips were burned and the replacement tasted of burnt oil. No refills unless we sought them out. Plenty of happy chatty staff... with each other. They stood by the kitchen door and chatted watching a soccer game. Finally we were noticed by the bartender and requested a manager. I definitely warn anyone about to go, not to.

The service was good but the bartender doesn't know what they were doing. Sold us a crown and ginger ale that came out clear. 2 Royal flushes that tasted like peach schnapps and cranberry. When confronted that Crown is brown she came back and said they were out of Crown. Those drinks are almost $7 a piece. Waste of money....had her take back 3 of them and I didn't drink the only one I did get for me and my friends. Didn't bother with the food.

It was my sister's birthday and he offered to make her a smoothie, which my mom was indifferent about, and he charged her for it, an additional $8.75. He did well with getting our orders right but the waiting and couple mischarges made us not want to return. We left alongside a woman who also complained about the service.

17.50 for shrimp and scallop fajitas was a rip off! 5 little shrimp and 5 little scallops. .no way Place closes at 10 we order at 930 the food comes at 945 and the people are running around cleaning up trying to get out of there. Try eating while someone is cleaning the floor with ammonia. The people are nice to your face. I'll go across the street next time!

You walk in and are seeated in a nice environment. Waitors/waitresses are wonderful. Though i do recommend if its nice and cool out, eat outside. It gets toasty inside from all that good cookin. The food is spot on. Being from Texas and of Latin descent i was really worried about eating Mexican food way up here in beautiful North Carolina. But, to my amazement the food was spectacular! The Menudo: if you can stomach beef tribe and the texture- was freaking wonferful. I've been a couple times. Ordered the t-bone the first time and the second i was highly recommended to try their Carne Asad. Which i loved. The long marinated meat just explodes in your mouth with so much flavor and juice. - Enough said. I'm going back after that last sentence!

This used to be one of our favorite places in Jacksonville, but the last three times we have been, they have had no air conditioning. Customers dine outside because it feels like eighty degrees inside. The staff is friendly despite this, but we can’t pay their prices and eat at a restaurant that’s eighty degrees or more inside when it’s ninety degrees outside. Regrettably, we’ll have to find a new favorite Mexican place in Jacksonville. :(

Margaritas were good. Few issues I had. Pineapple juice was extremely watered down and didn’t taste real at all. I gave my kids water instead. The taquitos I think it was, my wife ordered them and it looked and tasted like the old ones at 7-11. The “salsa” was water with red stuff squirted into it or something and it was like dipping my chips in literally a bowl of water. I had a torta, and it was okay... hopefully this was a one time thing. I don’t ever do reviews however I had to get this one out my chest. Thanks for feeding us though I guess

Once you go to poncho, you simply don't go to other spanish/Mexican restaurants. And if you havnt been yet, You owe it to yourself. I get the quesadilla fajita texanas EVERY TIME! Carne asada is among of not, the best in town as well. Margaritas are great. But the fried ice cream... Game changer! I order it to go for a sweet snack at home! (Caramel and chocolate might sound appetizing, but stick with the traditional honey they do) you will not be disappointed!!!

The salsa was good but the service was not. Our server "Kelly" was the only friendly person. Also, instead of an ounce per shot of tequila I was only given a half an ounce and I was charged $11.25 per shot. That was enough for me and my party to leave and not even order food. I would never go back.....ever!

Not very authentically Mexican. Server was sweet she is the only reason I rate it 2 stars, but The food lacked real mexican flavor. Got the Monterrey enchiladas and the ground beef tasted more like canned beef, the beans seemed to also come from a can. The Flan was the only exception it was excellent.

I was standing at the front waiting to be greeted. There was a gentleman sitting with another young lady talking at a booth. My server was not the best. I waited a very long time for my check and then I walked to the front to pay for my food (I wasn't sure if that's what I was supposed to do because my server didnt mention it). I didnt have additional napkins and she didnt offer to refill my cup. The food was bland, and there wasn't anything special about it. It wasn't a good experience for me.

This is by far the best Mexican restaurant around here, I personally think so. I’m from Texas and am use to pretty authentic Mexican food, and this is the only place around here that actually matches that same taste pretty well! All the other places just don’t quite taste the same. Will definitely become a regular here.

Had the lunch fajitas, and they were *very* good. The vegetables were especially good - well spiced and cooked perfectly. The queso dip was all right; the consistency was creamy and it was hot enough, but it tasted rather like American cheese - a bit mild and fake for my taste. The tableside guacamole had a lot of potential (someone I was with who had been here before hyped it up) but I think the server making it forgot to double everything except the avocado when we asked for a double order. The service was perfect; anything we needed we had almost before we asked. Our server (someone different from the guac maker) was courteous and knowledgeable.

We are passing through on our way to NYC. It is July 4th and many places are closed. We found this place and was very thankful of the other places being closed. The food was fresh, light and very tasty. Our 8 and 10 year old loved it. We were all full after we ate. We all had something different and we were all pleased, even with the fried ice cream. Definitely a place to remember!!

Just had dinner, it was highly recommended by our neighbors. Restaurant was very clean, wait staff was attentive. So far so good, appetizer came out quickly but tasted of old fryer oil, Then came my order.........I ordered the 13.99 "California Wrap" what I assume is thier version of a California Burrito, anyone from California knows the California Burrito comes with Fries inside. I asked them to put some inside. Well I received my burrito and it was a packed with Fries and I counted 4 pieces of steak. Complete waste of 13.99. Speaks volumes of the establishment. 1st and last time we will be dining here.

A 5 star experience all around. Friendly atmosphere, outstanding staff especially if you're lucky enough to have "The Lovely" Lisel. She made an out of towner "who couldn't write" feel very comfortable. Great fajitas and fried ice cream to die for.....I knew there were corn flakes on it. If you find your way to Pancho Villas ask for Lisel's section and you too will feel like you're with family.
