I'm being nice by giving a 2 star. First time coming here. We went at the end of the night at 8:30 not realizing they close at 9. My husband ordered the veggie pasta. It was awful!! They must of shut everything down in the kitchen 10 mins after we ordered and the waitress never came over to ask if we needed anything else before the kitchen shuts down so we couldn't get anything else to replace the awful meal we received.

I started eating consistently here at Oakcrest and when I say consistently means probably once or twice a month. I think it is a great value for the money and the staff seems to be very pleasant. It’s not a five-star restaurant but it is a great family style restaurant with great vegetable choices. Home cooked meals!!

My dad ordered the daily special, they had run out of it and didn't know until after the whole table had ordered so My dad ended up not eating. My melty roast beef sandwich was suppose to come with "caramelized onions" but I got warmed (still crunchy) red onions on it & the roast beef was black and crunchy it was so dried out. My daughter's spaghetti was THE nastiest plate of spaghetti I've ever seen, she wouldn't even eat it. The children's cheeseburger had a HUGE toasted brioche bun (overly toasted to where it was hard on the inside) with a tiny meat patty so my 3yr old couldn't even fit her little mouth over the bun to eat her burger. And all of this crappy food cost me $32! I could've eaten at Golden Dragon down the road for less than that and I KNOW it would've at least been worth my money! Never. Ever. Again! *the reason they get 2 stars instead of 1 is because our waitress was very nice and friendly.

Oakcrest Family Restaurant is a great place to eat! The food is very good and the prices are reasonable. When my husband and I went there today for supper, I had the pot roast and my husband had the vegetable plate. The pot roast was very tender and had a good amount of vegetables with it. My husband had the grilled squash, grilled zucchini and sweet potatoes. He said that all of those were very good. Omar was our waiter and he was very nice and did a good job of taking care of us. If you are in the Battleground area and are looking for a great family restuarant, I highly recommend Oakcrest Family Restaurant!

There was 9 of us that went to breakfast. Most of the orders came out wrong. The biscuits were hard as hockey pucks. We told waitress how to make up checks as to who was with who. It was pitiful , she had checks all messed up. Will never eat there again.

Nastiest Restaurant and management is horrible and very rude to employees. He refused to give his name to me after yelling. He also told the employees he’d fire them if they told me his name. A COCKROACH WAS IN THE MAYONNAISE ON MY SANDWICH AND ONE RAN ACROSS THE TABLE WHILE EATING.. Do not eat at this disgusting restaurant...

We went here after the Greensboro Science museum. We were celebrating my 2 year old granddaughters Birthday. The wonderful waitress found us this piece of cake and candle just for her. Very good food and very nice staff.

I went there a couple weeks ago and there was a COCKROACH IN MY DRINK. The lady that made it then gave a lame excuse saying “she checked before to make sure there was none it must have gotten in at the table”, if she actually did check there had been problems like this before and she made it seem like it was not her fault. Also, cockroaches come like fireants, so there are probably more in there. Food quality has gone down and prices have gone up. Used to like it but now I don’t even go back anymore. Would not recommend.

When it comes to a home cooked meal this is the best choice on a short list of places. All of the choices have been tested thru the years and have been a delightful gathering of friends and of course family. A nice and clean atmosphere with friendly service. The cost is always in the right price range. I truly recommend this resturant to anyone that lives near battleground and suggest those that are further away to plan a trip to this establishment. Thanks for being such a wonderful place to enjoy and share with others wanting to discover this place as well. If it pops ☝ on your google maps then ya better check them out. Was trying to find a new restaurant to eat at, came across this one and decided to try it out, and I’m very glad I did. Great service and down home southern cuisine that is delicious. I got the hamburger steak smothered in onions with mashed potatoes and gravy and fried okra. It was amazing and it felt like I was a kid at my grandmas house. Will definitely be returning!

What kind of business has regular operating hours on Christmas day? Management seemed grievously out of touch, posting menus that the waitstaff had never seen before placing them in front of us. Items listed on the menu were unavailable and the waitresses seemed noticeably stressed while trying to do their best to serve the droves of people. I felt guilty for supporting this business, as it seems life for the employees is hellish. Several plates were sent back and some people walked out...not the server's fault. I hope they had some time to spend with their families on Christmas.

Decent menu but dreadful service.15-20 minutes after placing our order we still hadn't even received our drinks and when I asked where our server was she was outside smoking a cigarette. There were seven of us. No children. With merely decent service she would have easily gotten a $40-50 tip. She didn't even deserve the 15% gratuity nor did she seem to care at all. Once we got our food, which she didn't bring, we saw her a grand total of two more times. Once to see if the orders were correct, about ten minutes after we were served, and then to bring the check. It wasn't a terrible experience but I won't go back

We went Christmas day about noon. We were seated right away and told they had already run out of sweet potatoes. It took a very, very long time to be waited on as they were short handed the food took quite a while and was barely warm some actually cold. One of us ordered seafood and it was good but very greasy. In my opinion there should have been more servers and the manager should have planned better for the day. The cooks were frazzled and appeared to be unprepared. The server was doing the best she could and did a great job under the circumstances. The food inspite of the temperature tasted very good. Will we travel that 30 miles to go back there we all agreed that we would like to try it again as we feel it will all be much better. Thank you Oakcrest personal for being open Christmas! Happy New Year.

My friends and I had a wonderful time the Hostess greeted us, and we're seated promptly.The waitress came and took our order in a timely manner was very polite, made some suggestions.The food was delicious and it came to us hot and everything was done right. I was very impressed with the service that I left a tip. I also left a message with the manager that I was very impressed, and I will be Dinning here again. I hope to see you there sometime in the future.

Just left the restaurant, and it was awful. I went there for lunch on a Saturday with a friend and the place was nearly empty. I ordered the patty melt with no onions and the sweet potatoe casserole, my friend order the philly steak sub and Mac and cheese. Thankfully I'm not allergic to onions because they were all over the my patty melt, the sweet potatoe casserole had huge visible cubes of sweet potatoes and clumps of brown sugar, my friends sub was decent according to him, though his bread was not toasted as described on the menu, and the mac and cheese was bland. We could have overlooked these things if the service was good. The African American waitress we had seemed to have disappeared after serving our food. Then she proceeded to walk by us 6 times and never checked on us. It was so bad I had to pour some of my water into my friends cup...never coming back.

Really enjoyed my breakfast here. They have specials and eggs are always cooked to order. There are kinds of options with pancakes, omelettes, breakfast biscuits, great grits, and more. Lots of room for a large group as we saw a family get together and a group of senior citizens who have been friends for years and come regularly for breakfast. They also do lunch and dinner as well as catering. Great service and friendly atmosphere.

First time eating here. I had chicken kabob, wife had pot roast special, other person had country style steak. Pecan pie and tuxedo cake are good. Overall the food was very good. Only minor issue is the mac & cheese was runny. Moderately priced, $41 for 3 people.

Menu had changed and had pot roast listed so I selected that only to be told it was only available on another day. Server said menu was wrong. My opinion is fix it. Food I did get was good, corned beef, fried squash and slaw. When we left all I could smell was grease on my clothes. Had to wash them as soon as I got home. I've never noticed this before so I'm wondering if they changed the ventilation system. I think my next order will be to go.

The server Belinda was great. She was the only highlight. The food was over cooked and not what we ordered. Our booth was plagued by some kind of winged creature, that wouldn’t move on so since he stuck around and got to know us we named him Larry. Which would have been funny, if Larry hadn’t been A ROACH! Needless to say, none of us are any more after Larry showed up. Never. Ever. Ever. Again. Will I darken the doors of this place.

Our waitress was soooo slow! She never smiled and when I asked for silverware to eat our brick-like mozzarella sticks, she acted like I asked her for a kidney! I don't know her name, but she was African-American with a big hairdo. 2 tables came in after us with a different waitress, they both got their food BEFORE we got our hard as bricks mozzarella sticks! Needless to say, we will not go back!

Well, we went for lunch and my wife went to eat her rolls and both had mold on them. I went to eat my greens and the dish washer never rinsed the bowls after the sanitizer was out on and they tasted like bleach. Sad as I was so hapoy to go back to eat there. The savinfg grace was Belinda our waitress, she was fanrastic. I am not sure if we will be back.

Let’s start off to say I called in at about 2 something to ask the difference between the shrimp basket and fried shrimp ... I hear two ladies in the background (guessing they had me on speaker) tryna figure out the answer to my question and one finally goes “the shrimp basket doesn’t have any sides... DUH” in a rude manner... so I said excuse me did she just say “duh” and the lady on the phone told me no. I was like ok and that was the end of the convo.. while the lady on the phone thought she hung up I stayed on the phone and heard her tell the other lady “she heard u say duh.. she thinks your being rude” then they proceeded to laugh then they finally realized that I was listening and hung up the phone. Besides all that I still proceed to go in and place an order.. the waiters seemed a bit rude.. ( one was on her way out the door) but she was still at the register and could’ve greeted me.. but she didn’t . A few moments later I did come in contact with an older lady who actually seemed very nice and wanted to help me. While waiting for my food, I look on the door (inside) and spot a roach crawling on the door... not wanting to be rude or cause trouble I still waited for my food. I got home and almost everything was nasty... the sweet potatoes were off.. the cabbage tasted like onions... the shrimp didn’t have flavor... and everything else was just enough to get bye. Only great thing I encountered here today was the nice older lady... other than that I won’t be going back .

My family reserved seating for our family members for Thanksgiving dinner long before the holiday arrived; however, many side items were no longer available and/or depleted, so one was required to change all sides preselected weeks before. I did not give this restaurant a lower score, because our waitress had a lovely personality. I'm not one to give a negative review simply because something goes wrong. That is just going to happen sometimes. I will update my rating should the same ordeal is not experienced next Thanksgiving, that is if I can convince everyone to give it another try.

Very disappointed!!!! I had called yesterday 12-31-2018 to make sure they were going to be Open & Carry the traditional dinner. They assured me they would. I went at 4:30PM and was told they didn't have any more ham---it would take 45 minutes. So I had to order something else because I had driven in from McLeansviile and didn't have any other errands and come back....as they suggested. So, when I just got home....they gave me apples not blackeye peas....SO ANY CHANCE FOR A GOOD YEAR BY EATING LUCKY FOOD....SUCKS!!!! I ONLY HAVE THE COLLARD GREENS & CORNBREAD. I immediately called and spoke with the Manger (Dee, he said he would make it right the next time I come in.) Who knows what will be done, BUT I AM VERY UPSET. I only left my home to get the special New Year's Dinner. Also, they have NO to go order menu's!!!

We enjoyed the "hungry man's breakfast" and "spinach & mushroom" omelette. The hungry man's breakfast is appropriately named, as it comes with multiple items (2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, 2 pieces of sausage, hashbrowns, gravy and biscuit). The omelette comes with toast or biscuit and grits, gravy or hashbrowns. The restaurant is clean and decorated cute. The wait staff is pleasant. Our food was hot and tasty. We would definitely dine here again. Personally, I loved the 80's music playing the whole time.
