neat, rustic place. nice bar with some upstairs dining. started with the pork dumplings and they were some of the best we have had. cooked to perfection. second course was the Brussel sprouts with bacon and a hint of something sweet (honey?). nicely done. lastly we had the curry mussels. they were big, juicy and tender. However, they did not warn of their heat--ours were really spicy. So spicy my friend could not eat them. I did but would have preferred a little less heat and i like some heat with my curry sauces. these were really hot. maybe it was just the batch we got, but if they are always like that, i suggest they note that on the menu. there were also several other things we would like to try off the menu and will return. very limited wine list

Every part of the experience was perfect, from the knowledgeable and affable bartenders to the wonderful drink selection to the star of the show — the food. We ordered several small plates (pork buns, dumplings, wings) and desserts (churros and Vietnamese coffee mousse) and everything was outstanding, though the star of the show was the General Woo Brussels Sprouts.

LOVED the vibe and staff. Food was good as well. I don't think there is a bad thing on the menu. Only thing I would say is the fish tacos are a huge fried piece of fish, wish is fabulous quality, but the toppings of mayo, romaine and picked onions I believe, were not that flavorful or impressive at all.

We ordered the Brussels sprouts with honey Sriracha sauce. They were so delicious, even people who claimed they don't like Brussels sprouts ate them and loved them! The fish tacos are delicious. You get three tacos with a very large fish fillet in each taco. This dish can easily be split by two, or even three people. The fish is delicate, with a delicious sauce. Love the cocktails, also!

Chicken wings with the lime glaze were probably the best wings I have ever had! Also had the pork and chicken dumplings which were good, but not on the same level as the wings. My GF had the fish tacos, and they we're really good as well. Portion sizes were good, the GF and I shared our plates and barely had enough room for the chocolate mousse, which was very good.

The flavors of the mussels and the smoked bok choy were bold and delicious. The broth with the mussels was spicy and the smoke of the mushroom dish was really strong. The only disappointment was that the shrimp and calamari we're overcooked. I look forward to going back and trying more of the menu

This a very trendy place in downtown Raleigh, my friend celebrated her birthday here. We had a really good time and the service was excellent. They have an upstairs and downstairs section which makes it pretty spacious. There is also a full bar. It wasn't crowded the night we went but it was a good amount of people there. They had a couple vegan options but they are willing to veganize some of the other dishes. Vegans don't rule this place based on the online menu.

Came here for lunch during downtown restaurant week. Our group of 5 walked in right at 11:30am and had no wait for a table. The space has a bunch of natural light and a nice ambience overall. We ordered a plate of dumplings to share and they were delicious and came out promptly. I ordered the seafood curry as my main dish and it was delightful! A little bit of spice but the flavor was great and it was a good size portion. We all split the Vietnamese coffee mousse for dessert and it was also very good. Not too sweet and it was very light and creamy. I look forward to coming back for dinner and drinks!

Great addition to the Downtown Raleigh food scene! We loved all of our dishes, especially the pork dumplings and the kimchi fried rice balls. We were disappointed they were out of the chicken entree when we had dinner there, and had to get more appetizers instead of an entree. Prices are a fairly high, but quality and creativity of the dishes is solid, and portions are pretty good sized. Love their story from the food truck days, and we had the kindest waitress who we loved!

What's not to love!? Starting with the name: MoFu. Love it! Before this restaurant, the same team started with a couple delicious food trucks called "Dump Pho King Truck" and "Pho Nomenal." I'm sensing a theme here, and theme is: badass. The menu is also badass. The pork belly bowl is amazing! And the short rib falls off the bone. The original cocktails are also quite good. The service is great! I will definitely be back for another pho-nomenal meal :)

So good! The dishes sound simple but each component is full of flavor. Had a rice bowl with sauteed shrimp. It had fire roasted tomatoes on it that made it so tasty. Our first visit was with a food tour for a friend’s birthday where we learned to love Sake and heard the story of MoFu Shoppe from the owner. (They won Food Truck Wars on the food network, she’s not a chef, she learned to cook from her family.) I’ve been back twice in two weeks, everything is incredible! Favorites: Tofu’strami, dumplings, fish tacos. Service is great! Get the citrus Sake, trust me, they know the one and it’s to die for. Sake bottles are half price on Wednesdays and there is a parking deck across the street. On Thursdays Moore Square right next door has live music, beer and vendors during the warm months.

Full disclosure: i was here for a Chamber networking event and did not order a meal in the restaurant. The decor is mostly open and modern, and the bar area was busy during our event. Don't know how it is regularly, but they did seem to offer a good selection of beer, wine and cocktails. Our hors d'ouevres at this event included some dumplings, chicken wings and fried brussels sprouts. It was all tasty, and I would go back to actually eat here at some point. It seems they are more a modern Asian fusion type restaurant, so know that they aren't necessarily doing traditional dishes.

The appetizers are good. The dumplings were pretty good. The chicken wings are great. The entrees...meh. The poke tuna is ok at best, the fish tacos were cooked well, but messy and not the greatest flavor and the pork belly was good, but too much rice. I won’t be going back for anything but the appetizers and the amazing chocolate cake with passion fruit. Upon further review, this is likely the worst restaurant I have ever been to. I honestly can not find anything other than the amazing service to be worth a visit. Likely there will be another restaurant here in a few months.

Mofu is beautiful and relaxed. The cocktail selection is great. I have a vodka version of a mule drink that I can't remember the name of, but it was fantastic with the plum wine, vodka, lime, and ginger beer. The pork dumplings are probably some of the best i have had in the area and the bussels sprouts are so very very good. I also had the carrot soup, which was good but It's kind of hard to compete with the aforementioned dishes! The waiter we had was excellent and attentive. Absolutely nothing yo complain about and definitely going back!

Went here for a friend's birthday, and I was really excited because I had seen on Instagram that they made a daily special dish into a permanent dish, which is vegan (I am vegan). So I figured they did this because of great feedback from customers. I am confused because I got this ~$20 dish that basically had two King Trumpet mushrooms and that's it. It's not that it was bad, it wasn't, it just wasn't great and I was not full at all. And as far as I know that is the only vegan item on the menu.

Great place with a menu that is always changing. Lots of great options and they have great sauces to accent every choice. If you want heat just ask. Waitstaff is very professional and will take time to explain the menu. Great seating options and you can just lounge and sip on your drink while you watch folks walk by. Who doesn’t love to “People watch”. Parking can be tricky, but you already know that if your venturing downtown.

Saturday night was my first time going to Mofu. The atmosphere and food were amazing. We had a reservation for 10 people at 6 pm. There only ended up being 6 of us and a couple people were two hours late. As someone who worked in this industry, I know how frustrating this can be for a server. That being said, our server, Maureen, gave us exceptional service. She was very sweet and accommodating for us. This was a very special event for a close friend of mine, so Maureen's patience and kindness meant a lot to me. She truly made it a night to remember. Thanks Maureen and everyone at MOFU Shoppe! We will certainly be back!

And probably the best item of the night, sushi rice risotto. I would have taken a bowl home with me if they had let me. A nice diamond in the rough.

It was good, but with the other options around to try, the downsides were enough that I don't think I'd give it a second chance. This was the #1 restaurant I wanted to try while I was visiting. I saw several dishes that sparked my interest with tons of articles and praise. The restaurant itself is very nice. Well setup, modern, open... (noise could definitely be an issue if it was crowded). The staff were all polite and helpful. The drink menu and bar should hit whatever you are in the mood for. - Pepper Buns - 6/10 Dry, hard, almost stale. A bit of tasty char siu pork belly in the middle. - Octopus - 3/10 It was a very nice presentation. Unfortunately that was all there was. It was overcooked to the point the octopus was a rubberband with slimy mush on the surface. The sauce was so vinegary and pungent that was the only thing you could taste. Edamame was nice.. Noodles were ok, but drenched in the same sauce. I decided to pass on trying anything beyond that.

Let's get down to the reason you're visiting: the food. I tried the wings and the pork belly bowl that a lot of other reviewers claimed to be amazing. I'm very unimpressed - the wings lacked the crunch of Korean fried chicken and the flavor was so-so. If I want really savory and delicious chicken, I'd hit up Beasely's. The pork belly bowl was so-so as well. The pork belly was delicious and cooked perfectly with a crispy exterior and a succulent interior, however the rest of the components were either bland or didn't really work in my opinion, the pickled carrots and onions felt out of place. For the moderately higher prices, I simply don't think it's worth it. I'd rather go to Brewery Bhavana or other for Asian cuisine.

What a fantastic restarunt lounge. By far the hottest spot in downtown Raleigh. Get there around eight for dinner then go to bar/lounge after. Felt like I was in Downtown NYC or LA! Finally a cool, hip spot to hang out at! And the food is phenomenal! Be sure to get the MOFU wings, chicken skewers, pork chop and desserts are to die for. Especially the coconut honey rice pudding

The food and service were amazing. Still the best dumplings I have had anywhere. Not a fan of how small they are now versus when the food truck was going. Seems to be paying more for less. Nonetheless they still taste divine. My wife and I ate there last night. We also had the Butter Sriracha Chicken Wings and the Mussels. The appetizers alone were a meal and they have a few more I want to try. All in all, this place is one of my new favorites in Downtown Raleigh.

One of the owners came over to the table, introduced herself, inquired about our experience, then helped buss tables---very gracious and very cool. Great space with cool atmosphere and a more relaxed upstairs dining area. The sake menu is extensive and worth it. Ordered the tacos, grilled swordfish with sushi rice risotto, tom yum chicken, and pork and chive dumplings. Service was very good but none of the dishes were exuberantely flavored. Tacos were definitely a must order. From what we saw, the curry mussels also look excellent.

It was a trendy place. We came in during the afternoon lull. They have a small menu called Afternoon Snacks. Only about 6 or 8 items on it. We ordered the flounder tacos, wings, and the pork dumplings. The waiter was awesome! It's cool to know the backstory of the restaurant. They won the Food Truck show and used the earnings to open MOFU. Everything was tasty. The flounder tacos were a little bland. The fish needed some seasoning. Get both flavors of wings!

Favorite fish tacos!!! I’m sure everything here is outstanding, but having had the fish tacos great, I may never try anything else on the menu. The atmosphere is modern, open, and welcoming. The staff is prompt, helpful, and nice. It is located downtown, so you’ll have to figure out parking. We always use a deck nearby. They are kid friendly and have a children’s menu. Our kids like the chicken and fried rice. I highly recommend this spot!

I recently visited MOFU Shoppe for my birthday for the second time. I was originally disappointed to see that the Beef Short Rib had been removed from the menu, but the Pork Belly Bowl entree made up for it! We also enjoyed the dumplings. MOFU has a great vibe, and the food is delicious. The drinks took a bit longer than expected to arrive, but this is a great place to eat in downtown Raleigh!

I loved MOFU! We ended up choosing this place because there was a long wait at the restaurant that we chose but I'm so happy that we did. I told my friend that it was on my to try list very glad I was able to go tonight. When we were arrived I was so thankful to see open seating. We were greeted by the host with an amazing smile and she seemed very happy to see us. We ended up sitting in the middle of the restaurant which was cool and it didn't feel cramped. The menu was very plain and simple with just enough so that you won't get overwhelmed. The ambience of the place was great. The lights were dimmed a little so if you were looking for something romantic this would a good choice but there is also a huge bar so if you wanted to have some fun you could do that too. There are huge windows that provide great natural lighting My friend and I ended up ordering green tea (add milk it's delicious) with the pork dumplings and the fish tacos and yall it was so delicious. The fish tacos come with a side of rice that's to die for. We ended up paying $35 for everything. Our server Troy was great. He recommended some great menu options. He was very attentive to my friend and I we never had to ask for refills or anything. Just an all around cool guy. The parking is great too. There are parking decks across the street as well as street parking if you are able to find a spot. Overall love this spot and the food was amazing. Definitely coming back soon.

We tried the brussel sprouts (which has been highly recommended), the banh mi corndogs, the mussels, and the salad. Everything was incredibly disappointing. The brussel sprouts were WAY too saucy and heavy. Though the concept of the corndog was nice, not even the few slivers of pickled carrots and cilantro could hide the fact that it was still just a corndog. The salad was overdressed and the mussels were sitting in a pool of broth that tasted like mexican chorizo instead of thai green curry. Service was very slow. Drinks were okay. Aside from the atmosphere, nothing particularly impressed us. I am hopeful they were just having a bad night, otherwise I would give the meal one star.

We just moved to Raleigh from DC literally yesterday so you could say we are a bit spoiled on good food lately. This restaurant was our first impression of casual fine dining in downtown Raleigh. It could not have been better! The cocktails were unique and on point. The dishes were also spot on. For appetizers, I recommend the kimchi rice balls. Spectacular! This place has a bright future and we know we will certainly be back!

I have been to Mofu Shoppe three times now and each experience has been great! The wings and pork belly are amazing! We also got the brussel sprouts and mussels, which were also good but very spicy! We will return again.

Love it. Have been here before for drinks and we finally went for food. Excellent small and large plates. The buns and dumplings are a must. The braised short rib was so good and big enough for all 4 of us to share. Drink menu was very good. Tuna tartare was awesome, rice spells had just enough spice. Order anything it was all thsy good.
