Here you have the opinions of real people who consumed the products and services of Dogwood Bar And Grill (Restaurant) in North Carolina.
Now the firm gets a rating of 4.4 stars out of 5 and that rating has been calculated on 124 reviews.
As you can read, its rating is quite good, and it's based on a very high number of feddbacks, so we may say that the score is very reliable. If there are many people who bothered to give their feddback when they've done well, it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to write evaluations when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of Bar & grill.
First time visiting. Love the atmosphere. Service was great. Food was delicious. Reasonably priced. Felt very welcome. Very clean. Highly recommend.
Ribs that fall off the bone. Juicy pork loin. Friendly staff. I would have driven by many times and never even seen this place tucked back in this shopping center, but friends brought me and it's a hidden gem. I'll be back!
Excellent service, food is very good and portions are very generous. Try the flounder and ribs. Beer choices on tap good, mixed drinks small servings.
Kind of pricey & spicey. But huge burgers and delish spinach salad! Ask for no pepper if you have acid reflux
Great place!! I can't say enough good things about this restaurant and staff. We have been 5 or 6 times and can't wait to go back. The food is incredible!
Good food and good service in a casual atmosphere. Chef Dan is excellent!
So to be perfectly honest, my expectations were average until I found out these guys also own Metro 8, one of my fave downtown restaurants. The "logjammers" app was tasty, and the empanadas were great too. Caesar salad was great, Cobb salad is HUGE and perfect. I went with the burger before I knew the pedigree, and it was great. Dad went with the Shephard's Pie, and said it was awesome. We're hoping for an improved wine selection (I'm told they're working on it), but they've got decent taps already, leaning towards local, and great to shelf liquor selections. Service is attentive, decor is bright and pleasant. We'll definitely be back.
First visit! Will be back!
Very good! The 1/2 rack of ribs awesome Service always good!!
Ambiance is a work in progress, but don't be fooled by the lackluster storefront or bare walls. The food is quite good, and our server was polite and attentive. If I weren't moving back to Raleigh soon, I'd probably become a regular customer.
Got to try. The wait staff is the best and funniest that can be found. Love the food too!
Great burgers and ribs! Wings are awesome, too. Welcome to North Durham!
Finally a restaurant in North Durham!
Needs to be quicker service, but not bad. Love the food, try something different every time we go.
neighborhood home town feel kinda place.
So happy to have a great place to eat in N. Durham. Some of the specialties from Metro 8 are on the menu, which I love. I had the Chicken Cilantro tonight. The portion was huge and tasty and the Chicken breast stayed nice and moist. I'll be making this a neighborhood staple.
The food is great in this friendly little spot. Ask for Chelsea, she is a terrific server. Be patient while they work out the kinks in the system. I am only giving it four stars due to long waits for seating during peak times. But we believe it's a little gem in a neighborhood that has been long awaiting its arrival.
Good food, great service. Local beer on tap too. So happy to finally have a place to eat and relax in this area. It is new - so I expected to see training wheels but was pleasantly surprised. Sitting at the bar was fun and interactive - you can easily enjoy going solo here!
I am *so* excited whenever a new spot opens in North Durham, because it is a veritable wasteland when it comes to restaurant options (fast food? sure. good food? not so much...) However, I am even more excited when a restaurant opens up that's as good as Dogwood! It's owned by the same people at Metro 8 on 9th street, which is a local favorite, so you already know it's going to be legit. We went there the first day they opened (definitely a soft opening, walls bare and still training staff, not that that took away from the experience at all). We were seated promptly and the service was excellent; they were able to answer all of our menu questions and provide recommendations based on what we were looking for. The menu is quite extensive and the food is super high quality, it definitely exceeds most "bar and grill" type spots. I definitely rate this as a great value for the price. Like Metro 8, the menu has an Argentine flair with empanadas and chorizo. We tried the beef empanadas with criollo sauce, which was a vinegar-y tomato & onion blend that was a delicious counterpoint to the hearty, savory beef filling. I then had the penne alla vodka (very tasty!) and my husband had the south of the border burger, which was perfectly cooked to order. We really wanted to try dessert, but were already stuffed with a full meal's worth of leftovers already. They also have a full bar which we did not partake of (yet). I will definitely be returning to try their other options! I really hope this spot doesn't get overlooked, as it's tucked in the corner of the shopping center that used to hold a Kroger (future Harris Teeter) and if you're heading SB down N Roxboro, the corner really hides their sign- they need to put one up closer to the road for visibility!
What a great and welcome addition to north Durham. We went on a Saturday afternoon at about 5:00 with a party of 5 and were seated immediately. The food was very good, but the staff was amazing. Very attentive and prompt to our needs. We will certainly be back!
Great place to eat on the north side. Best pulled pork I've ever eaten! Minus one star because you need to take alternative ways to pay. They don't have a chip reader (yikes!) and some financial institutions will limit a charge or debit to $50.00 if the establishment swipes a card with a chip.
Fantastic food!
I am so happy that there is a great restaurant in Northern Durham!!! I was extremely impressed with the atmosphere and the food was delicious! I ordered the grilled cilantro chicken breast! Highly recommend! The french style green beans were amazing!
The food was great service not so much. When we got there the service was a little slow and by tge time we were done we couldnt get out card ran till the manager came and took it so
Great food, caring service, reasonable prices. The whole package. And no LOUD background music. I'm going back. Highly recommend this place
Nice place but working through some start up issues. Interesting selection of menu items & hopefully the beer selections will expand as they get more accustomed to their routine.
Good size meal and good beer on tap.
Tried the cobb salad. It was very good.
Fabulous po boy with awesome Mac and cheese. Salad was fresh and tasty. Restrooms are clean and waitstaff are pleasant. We'll be back soon!
Great food!
Great spaghetti!
Comfortable atmosphere, hard seats for skinny buns. Friendly and quick service but had to wait a bit for food to arrive. My husband loved his burger it looked good and the sweet potato fries were great. My salad was good. Could use a little more stuff in it but good size. Lime very yummy all reasonably priced. We'll be back
New neighborhood restaurant off to a good start! Deliciously fresh chicken nachos large enough to share. Best sweet potato fries I've ever eaten! Burgers looked yummy but haven't tried one yet. Friendly staff and easy parking. If they'd get the coffee hot, I'd give them 5 stars.
Encouraged our Friday Supper Club to eat here and the staff was wonderful. The handled a large group with ease and friendliness. Our meals were served in a very reasonable time and tasty. I think we convinced our friends of a new special place in North Durham.
Great food! Such a nice drive for us. Very nice staff.
Had a great experience here.
My wife and I have been a few times and have enjoyed friendly service, delicious food, and fellowship with other customers.
FANTASTIC RESTAURANT. The food is delicious. It is the perfect place for a lunch meeting or a nice dinner. The service is fantastic! Alondra is so warm, and welcoming and always makes us feel like family. PS: they have the best BLT in America.
We had dinner last night for the first time and it did not disappoint. I saved the opportunity to visit this neighborhood spot when my mother was visiting in town. We were immediately sat and provided drinks. Our server, Samantha, was attentive and cordial. We decided on burgers which were delicious and juicy. The french fries were hot and yummy. My mother got the chicken sandwich with mac n cheese. She mentioned it was great too. I feel for the price, level of service and quality of food, this is a great addition to North Durham and I look forward to bringing more friends and family to this establishment.
Thrilled to have this new spot in North Durham! We went for the first time and this will definitely become a regular destination. The menu has a wide range of options that appeal to all different tastes, and they clearly use high quality ingredients in both the cooking and baking. All of the employees that we interacted with were super friendly, courteous, and seemed to genuinely enjoy working there. There's a bar area on one side and plenty of seating on the other, so it is well-designed for both family dining and a meal or game-watching with friends.
Absolutely loved this restaurant. Food was amazing. I had the Grilled Mahi Mahi and fried green tomatoes. Delicious
A great place for a very nice dinner. Good for a business meeting as well as a family meeting. We scheduled an eight o'clock meeting here and were seated immediately. The wait staff was very attentive the entire time we were there. The pico de gallo was delicious! And the chips were made in-house. The owner came around and introduced herself and was very welcoming. Will definitely be having meetings and dinner here more often. I highly recommend the dogwood grill.
Wonderful food.
Good service. Prices of food is reasonable.
Local Great food work variety from Shepards of pie varietiesto Mahi Mahi. Also some local beers. Great price.
So, I've have waited over 20 years for a place to eat in Northern Durham that wasn't fat, greasy fast food. Prices $$-$$$. The decor is modern but comfortable... almost feels like a beach restaurant with high back, wooden bench seats and a few tables. Didnt drink, but I eye-balled Iocally brewed beer and some top shelf favorites. I tried them today for lunch and later for dinner. For lunch, I ordered a cold Turkey sandwich. It came out hot, but that was okay...it was soooooo good!! It was served on toasted ciabatta bread with lettuce, tomato, onion and tasty turkey. I ordered takeout. The waiter brought out a glass of ice water as I waited and checked back to update me on my meal. He was very friendly and was very helpful. The wait was not bad at all. For dinner, I had a tender half rack of ribs, mac and cheese and string beans. My ribs were tender and the spicy moonshine sauce is delicious! The mac and cheese was okay...it is the kind with cheese sauce but its topped with cheese to give it an at-home taste. The string beans were a little undercooked...but that might be someone else's preference. My husband had carrot puree soup and salad as a vegetarian option. There are no vegetarian specific dishes or burgers but there are individual meatless options. I will return based on friendliness and effort...effort by new waitresses and waiters to learn and serve and the effort of trainers and supervisors to accommodate patrons and teach young employess with a smile. Suggestions: hush puppies or bread while you wait and better crackers than saltines for soup and salads.
The burgers are huge, very friendly staff & attentive
Slow service but food was good!
Food is great, service is as good
Excellent food every time we have been there
Got takeout they need to pack the food better. Salad not so good Ribs were great!!!use different takeout boxes
Very good restaurant in northern Durham.
Had lunch there today, it was really good. Large portions, great sides, & an attentive staff. My boyfriend really enjoyed the shrimp po boy. So glad to finally have some place in Northern Durham.
Great Food !
Outstanding ribs!!!! I'm not kidding they are that good!
Excellent food, courteous staff, good prices visited it several times and it will our go to restaurant . So glad we finally have an excellent restaurant in our neighborhood.
First time I wasn't impressed but I'll try it again
I really enjoyed the food I've tried so far, the chili is good. My favorite so far is the burgers, they are really good. The flavor is wonderful and cooked exactly like I ordered. It's so nice to have a good restaurant in Northern Durham, not expensive either. If you haven't been you will enjoy it. My service was good also through out the entire evening.
I went to this restaurant a few months ago with my mother and sister. The atmosphere was pretty nice. When it came time to order food, my sister was having trouble picking out what she wanted to eat and kept changing her mind over what to order. The waiter was incredibly nice and was very patient with my little sister. When we finally finished ordering the waiter reached over and gave her a high-five. He then smiled and went back to the kitchen. The wait for our food was only about 5 minutes. I order a hamburger and it was huge! But it was also super tasty! The rest of my family also enjoyed their meals very much. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a nice dinner with your friends or family or just alone. I was very impressed with the service and the food. I would definitely recommend this place. :)
5 stars based on having appetizers and beer at the bar. I was pleased with the quality and price of the appetizers. Great selection of other items on the menu, and their prices seemed competitive to me. I got a pint of a local beer and it was 5.50. This is reasonable. Great to have a quality food and bar hangout in North Durham. All staff were friendly and knew their jobs - a credit to the management.
Had the burger and Mac and cheese. Were delicious. Newly opened, so glad to have another option in N Durham.
Food was great but the new girls need more training on making drinks. Our waitress samantha was nice
First time visiting. Maryland chicken was tasty. Good turkey sandwich. Got really busy, and just a tad noisy, but it had a good vibe and tons of servers who were attentive.
I stopped in today for a late lunch. I was surprised by how cute the place was inside and with the thoughtfulness applied in offering a variety of seating options. The menu was simple - maybe they're playing it safe. The table service was good; my waiter was friendly, offered suggestions and quickly got my meal to the table. The bartender was gracious. The manager came out to greet patrons and ask about their service experiences. And, my simple poboy and sweet potato fries meal was fresh and tasty. The bun on the poboy was light and flaky. Love having a place to hang out in the neighborhood!
Been there twice now and the first visit, it took forever to get someone to wait on us, but the food was really good. Second time, service was great, but food was not. I had the penne pasta in a pink vodka sauce. It was bland and my garlic toast was burnt and hard as a brick!
Excellent food ! Good service !
Ate there last night had a great time enjoyed the ribs. I am very happy to see a new restaurant open in north Durham.
great
Tasty! Good size portions and the next day you can enjoy the leftovers. We are impressed and feel this a long waiting food spot in North Durham. It is on our very short list of places to revisit.
I had heard good things about this place and decided to give it a try. My mom ordered Cobb salad with no cheese and I had cheese sticks. The salad comes out with a ton of cheese so my mom explains that she is allergic to cheese. They take it back and a few minutes later come back with the same salad with maybe 25% of the cheese scraped off!!!!! The rest they tried to hide under the chicken and other toppings. So my mom just told them never mind she doesn’t want it now. They then make sure to say twice we took it off the bill!! Well I certainly hope you did considering she didn’t even get to eat anything!!!! How hard is it to make a new salad when someone can get sick when you don’t make it correct the first time. Will not go back here.
Excellent in all areas!!
Mushroom soup is the greatest! Zucchini soup is super good too!
My husband and I decided to try this place for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised!!! The wait staff was efficient and friendly. The food was great. We met some very nice other customers who like us were happy that this restaurant was open!!!
Good portions and friendly service; had the shrimp po-boy and really enjoyed it (especially the bun!) It's a bit dark in there though, some more color and lighting would make a huge difference. Overall, good place for a quick dinner, especially after hiking at West Point!
They are in the soft open stage and I went in the othe day for lunch. I had the Dogwood burger. It was awesome! I went back the other night and sat at the bar for a drink. Nice people and fun guests.
3 of us seated for 15 mins w/ only 2 menus and never got drink service. Got up to leave with no one questioning and left. Can’t speak to the food, but the service appears substandard.
