We had a long wait for food, and the burgers came out well done instead of the medium that we ordered. The French fries were fantastic though. Our waitress was very friendly and apologetic for the wait and the over cooked burgers. She did offer us a free shake which was kind of her. Prices are very reasonable and the burger still tasted good despite being over cooked.

Lunch was delicious! ALL the burgers are good, a little on the small side, but good. The hand cut fries done "crispy" was fantastic, especially with the "come back" sauce. Beer was cold, and we took a "cold brew w/chocolate" shakes to go...definitely going back.

Busy downtown burger spot with a hip vibe, top notch unique milkshakes, and fried-to-perfection french fries. The underwhelming nature of the burger is a big bummer, however. The patties are fairly tasteless, the blue cheese sauce was skimpy on my Old Raleigh burger, leaving the cold iceberg lettuce front and center. The superb sides and the other interesting menu items, will get me to come back for a second time.

Was in the Raleigh area, googled kid friendly restaraunts since My husband and I had our 5 year old and her best friend. Walked in and was seated. I asked if I could see a kids menu, I was told there isn't one. They have grilled cheese for kids, and I had the option to split a burger in between the kids. The food was okay, it was nothing special. Needless to say we walked out still hungry and had spent $40.00.

I don't eat in Raleigh that often, so I'm not going to Come from the perspective of an experienced Raleigh diner. The Burger and hand cut fries that I ordered here were quite tasty and fresh. The waitress was very attentive and they seemed eager to cater to my Entree adjustments. I was there early evening in and they were more than happy to brew a fresh pot of coffee to go along with my meal. I also liked the minimalist atmosphere inside , including the high ceilings. I did find it a bit pricey but I don't think it's any higher than most places in Raleigh. So over : good food, good service and a good Ambience.

Definitely my favorite burger in Raleigh. They have some unique burgers that aren't just the standard craft burger of goat cheese and bacon. There's also rarely a wait here (though I mostly go for Sunday lunch), so I think it's an especially good value for the time.

Delicious. My party had 4 different burgers and everyone thought they were delicious. Service was great - friendly and attentive. The different sauces to try with the fries and onion rings were an added treat- didn't even touch the ketchup. They had some great drinks on the menu too but we were with the kids so didn't try it. But we will be back!

Chuck's used to be really good a few years ago. But in 2019 the quality has dropped. They changed the menu and now my favorite burger is gone. Last time I went my burger was much smaller and burnt. What has gone on here? What a disappointment! I've decided we won't be going back.

Service was 5 star. Positive body language, energy, smiles. Beer selection was acceptable, went with a delicious IPA that paired well Food was 5 star for taste. Quantity was 3 star. 4-5 bites and the burger is gone. I suppose I have to pay extra for another patty next time. 4 stars for cost vs quantity.

Second time there and it was terrible service, again. We waited to get in, and were second in the door to be seated. We waited 45 minutes after we ordered and the food was barely room temperature. They did comp our food but the quality was not worth the wait.

The food and the staff were amazing! We were a family of 17 and we were walking around Raleigh looking for a place for lunch. Since we had a baby and 6 kids we didn't think a restaurant would be able to accommodate. We walked in they greeted us with such southern warm and sat us down right down and gave us the best Service and food. They were especially gracious when one of our appetizers fell off the table. They said don't worry and helped us clean it up and brought out another one so quickly. Can't recommend this place enough. Oh yeah, and the food was just as amazing!

This is the second burger joint I have been to since relocating here. Not bad at all. I didn't care for their specialty burgers, so I built my own. I would have preferred having plain malt vinegar over malt vinegar aioli. The boozy shakes are excellent.

The burgers here are a little small, but they do taste pretty decent. The best ones are the ones with the added pork on top, and the one with Pepper's and cream cheese. The onion rings are a bit too greasy but they fries are alright. Overall a 3.5 place that won't wow you but you won't be disappointed

Easily the best burgers downtown. They're not afraid to experiment with toppings and combinations never tried before, and it's all for the better! And what is in that comeback sauce!? I can't get enough. I actually prefer it to ranch which is big deal. Small but good beer selection. Staff is fast and friendly :)

Great staff, very accommodating to dietary needs. Nachos were good and crisp and fresh. Build your own burger was easy to customize and absolutely delicious. If you like ginger ale, the "hot" is the way to go. Good bite and a little spicy without being over the top. Would definitely go again. (Minus star only because the onion rings coating was coming off and not very good. They did sub it out quickly)

Standard burger joint akin to a Five Guys, but you can get a touch of booze in your milkshakes. Emphasis on a touch, it's really not noticeable. The burgers are fine and the atmosphere was modern, albeit loud, but can't help the clientele, which are mainly students from the local universities. The wait staff was kind and checked in often to make sure everything was up to standards. If you're in the area and craving a burger, this should meet your expectations, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Visited on 8-18-18. Had high hopes for Chuck's but was very disappointed. Restaurant was about half full. Ordered a starter which did not come out as a starter but with the meal. Waited about 20 minutes for the burger and starter. Ordered the burger medium well. Burger comes out medium raw. Waitress takes burger back and I get another cooked well within 3 minutes. I do appreciate the second one at least cooked this time. Not sure what happened here but for a very expensive burger place, I was disappointed in the food and having to send back a medium raw burger that I waited 20 minutes for.

This place NEVER disappoints. It is by far one of the best burger places I have found around the triangle and I love it. They have fresh every thing: sauces, fries, and burgers (of course). The staff is also really great and friendly. Would recommend this place 100%

You need to know first of all, that when you buy a burger here, you must get your fries separately and that if you're looking for fast food sized portions, you're going to need to just go to a fast food restaurant. They serve appropriate portions, of fresh ingredients, deliciously cooked to bring out every flavor. The fries come with yummy sauces you choose from a menu, totally worth it. The best burger I've had in years. The friggin best. The garlic aioli (which I've never had before) was perfect on my fries. They don't have a kids menu but offered a variety of options my 3 year old loved, that's how awesome their customer service is. This burger will haunt my dreams

Chucks has very good burgers in awesome varieties. I really enjoyed my Olde Raleigh burger the time I visited. The blue cheese and applewood bacon were delicious and complemented the burger wonderfully. I also ordered the onion rings. The onions are REAL and are accompanied with a dip that offsets the onion rings perfectly. They are pricey, but I plan to return soon.

Expensive for small burgers, they've gotten rid of the great fries, and very allergy insensitive. I explained I'm allergic to milk in a variety of ways and they still put clarified butter on my bun, saying the kitchen thought I would be fine. I had to miss a half day of work and paid $15+ for the privilege of misery. Never. Again.

Great burger spot! Lots of cool topping combinations plus traditional offerings. They also have a solid veggie patty option. In addition to the burgers, they have fantastic fried pickles, onion rings, and French fries. Make sure to try to sorghum Dijon dipping sauce with your fries. Plus, it is affordable compared to other restaurants in the area.

If you're ever traveling north on I-95 through North Carolina, and craving a hamburger, but the thought of Burger King, McDonalds, or any other fast food joint makes your stomach turn, don't fret. Take an hour to visit downtown Raleigh and dine at Chuck's. I don't know about you, but if I can get a grass-fed burger for $5, I'm willing to go over the river and through the woods; 5 hungry children and a husband was my motivation! The hamburgers were mouth-watering delicious and with a plethora of choices, you can truly have it your way and healthy; sorry, not sorry BK. Also, they serve beer and tasty adult milkshakes...YUMMY!

Overpriced, mediocre food and uncomfortable seats. Went here for dinner on a Saturday evening. I was surprised there was no wait, but after eating there I know why. First the good and the reason for 2 stars. The staff was friendly and service was good. The reasturant was clean. Now the not so good. I got the GREEN JACKET Burger with POBLANO PIMENTO CHEESE, LETTUCE, TOMATO, PICKLE for $9. The burger was small for the price, the bun was over roasted and hard and the pimento cheese was sparse. The onion rings and fried pickers were not crisp and the breading was falling off. No refills on soft drinks and no refills on ice for water and tea. The seat are very uncomfortable. First and last time visiting this restaurant.

I’ve been to Chuck’s 15+ times. Their burgers, fries, and shakes (they will split shakes, get one!) are incredible. It’s definitely the best place in Raleigh for a burger, and my favorite burger place anywhere. Our standards for burgers are high, as my husband insists on grinding his own meat when we make burgers at home. I miss the High and the Valley burger. Also have heard the veggie burger is great, but haven’t tried it. Their BLT is solid, as well. I’m not sure why other reviewers think the burgers are small. They’re not.

Just okay. Burgers are small, just bigger than sliders. Menu is inventive with fried bologna and other unique items. If you're looking for a family meal or a good value, probably not the right place. If you're looking for upscale burgers, fries and shakes and don't mind paying a premium, it's the right choice.

A bit pricey for the size of the small patty burger you receive without fries. Fries must be ordered al-la-cart. Would have rated higher if some fries came with burger. Al-la-cart fries too big to eat with burger, even if splitting.

This restaurant, right next door to the also popular Beasley’s, has a short menu, meaning they get everything right. They have specialty burgers, specialty, shakes, with or without booze, and some fabulous appetizers and sides. If you order a side of fries, bring a friend. The portions are huge. Perfect as always. While I was there I saw a couple eating and the wife complained about how her burger was cooked. I was thinking that it was in all probability cooked exactly like she ordered it. The manager replaced her food and although she accepted it she looked at it negatively and got her food for free. I imagine that was her goal. The food here is brilliant and always prepared right.

I like the choice of soft drinks--Mexican Coca Cola. The burgers are good. I do believe they could use a little bit more marinating, but over all it is a good sized burger with quality ingredients.

Great spot! Food was well prepared, hot dogs a bit pricey, burgers cooked to order and everything was delicious. Server knew menu, made appropriate suggestions. They have "boozy milkshakes"! Not only did they receive their food before me but one of the parties actually finished their meal and left before I received my meal. So clearly it is a hit or miss on how long food takes to get to you once you place your order. The atmosphere was nice, and the staff was friendly. I will highly recommend the salty caramel milkshake with bourbon. That was delicious, and I had faster food service chances I would have ordered a second $10 milkshake. But sadly enough the wait time for a cheeseburger and a basket of fries was long enough for me to decide that I would never return to this establishment. A pity because the food was good. The service staff were friendly, but a 30-minute wait for a cheeseburger at a cheeseburger restaurant is ridiculous.

This place was absolutely amazing. I ordered a chilli cheese hot dog and fries while my friend ordered a Green Jacket (pretty sure that was what it was called) burger. My friend said she loved the burger on all counts and we both agreed that the fries were incredibly delicious. On the other hand, I did not really enjoy my hot dog. The chilli was really delicious, but the hot dog just wasn't my preference. I will give props that it was definitely a quality dog, but I just didn't enjoy it. I was going to pay for it as expected since I ordered it, but the waitress was really kind and generous and removed it from my bill. The service, not just for this, was phenomenal. It ended up being an even better experience than I expected and I will absolutely be back again.

I had the most unfortunate dining experience at Chuck's this afternoon. I took my girlfriend's son for his first visit and it could not have gone worse. While eating and enjoying his burger he came upon a piece of broken plastic that he luckily found before swallowing. I alerted the staff and a woman came over and was very apologetic and offered to replace his burger at no charge. He accepted. I hadn't begun to eat my burger so I returned it and asked for it to be removed from the bill which it was. I ordered pickle chips also and offered to pay for those even though I hadn't eaten very many and had completely lost my appetite. I left the remainder of the chips on the table and received my bill, which was for the pickle chips(me and my big mouth) and for my girlfriend's son's lemonade. I simply paid and left. I'm still bothered that I was made to pay for anything considering what happened, but the lemonade was what really annoyed me. I suppose this is what passes as customer service these days. Sad.

i love beasley’s (owned by same place), but have been wanting to try chuck’s for a while. my fiancé beasley’s, but thankfully they had a wait & chuck’s didn’t lol. so we got to experience chuck’s and let me tell you.. Chuck's is fantastic! The atmosphere is light and fun and the service is friendly and quick. Every burger I've had there has been great, and the fries are really good, too. They offer a selection of sauces that you can use for dipping your fries, or put on your burger. The beer selection is really good, too. This place can be really busy, especially on a weekend night, but it's worth the wait!

Very good food. Very nicely arranged (small space isn't too crowded), with plenty of two seat tables for those that only want a quick bite & imported or craft beer. Surfers aren't overdoing the courtesy to the point it's weird, and the art work is intriguing. The only problem is that my server didn't know that I've been a server at equally classy establishments (ex: one job was at a property owned & operated by Club Corp) so when she didn't deliver my beer with a glass (as is suggested by the label on the beer) she forfeited part of her tip. Not to be mean, but everyone else with a beer, except one woman, had a glass. So whatever, but other than that is was awesome and I will be going back. It's great food. Get the daytripper, that's soooooo good.

My wife and I loved our visit to Chuck's. It has a great atmosphere with enough space between tables to where you don't feel crowded. We order (2) burgers and fries and tots. The burgers are a la carte but everything is reasonably priced. We got the tots first as an appetizer with the Sorghum-Dijon mustard and Buttermilk Herb Ranch. They were awesome, especially the ranch. there were plenty to curb the hangry in both of us until the burgers came out! The fries came out with the burgers and there were more than we could finish! We chose the Comeback Sauce and the Sweet Chili. The sweet chili had great flavor to it, but we would have used it more if it were thicker. It seemed more like a vinaigrette. The burgers we got were The Giddy Up and the Green Jacket. Both were great and had awesome flavor. The Green Jacket comes with a pimento cheese spread that is actually pretty thin. When it came out we could hardly tell it was even on the burger. Summer, our server, told us that the cheese normally melts into the bun, but she went ahead and got us some more spread anyways. They Giddy Up had bacon and a Cheerwine BBQ, what more do I need to say? We got fries, tots, 2 burgers, a beer and a cheerwine and everything was under $40 before tip. Loved this place!

Are you ready for a delicious burger that’ll leave you... still hungry af? Seriously guys, these burgers are tiny. Also, there’s like 10 fancy sauces that you can get, but the only actual BBQ sauce costs extra? If you’re gonna make me pay a dollar for sauce, I’m gonna need more than a teaspoon. I guess the moral of this story is that if you’re actually hungry, you might want to skip this place. If you’re on a diet and this is the one burger you’re gonna have this month, treat yourself.

Chuck's is already not as good as it used to be. My husband and I went there last week for the first time in a over a year and the burgers were noticeably not as good as the first two times we went when it was still new. The patties used to look a lot more fresh, high-quality and hand-formed in the restaurant and were cooked to the perfect medium. This last time, they looked simply not as fresh, pre-formed and were definitely over-cooked. . My burger was also assembled rather oddly, with the pickles under the patty which made the bottom bun get soggy pretty fast. There was a lot of American cheese which wasn't really melted so that made it harder to enjoy too. The fries were good and the service was pretty good, and the mudslide boozy milkshake was very good. But this is a burger joint and the burgers just aren't up to scratch anymore, in my opinion. That seems to happen with lots of restaurants lately, which is disappointing.

Just had Chuck's "Dirty South" Burger today. If this is dirty I don't ever want to be clean again. The burger was fantastic. There was enough chili to where it was falling over the sides but it's consistency kept it from dripping every where. The burger was cooked perfectly and the taste of chili with a little slaw was happiness. I don't know if you can find a better burger place in Raleigh than Chuck's. The food isn't cheap but it's so worth it. If you find yourself on Wilmington St you owe it to yourself to check this place out.
